Core samples from the deeply buried Ordovician Majiagou Formation below the Huainan Coalfield(E China) have been investigated for their carbonate types, major and trace elements(including rare earth elements) and C and O isotopes,The objective was to get a better insight into the possible occurrences of gas(and possibly oil) derived from Carboniferous coals. It was found that the carbonates are dolomites with strongly varying amounts of CaO and MgO.The low concentrations of SiO_(2),Al_(2)O_(3),and Fe_(2)O_(3)indicate deposition in a normal marine environment with little terrigenous input,The Na_(2)O/K_(2)O,Fe/Mn and Sr/Ba ratios,as well as the Ga values indicate mainly a marine salinity and a hot and humid climate. The slight depletion of Ce and Eu,the depletion of heavy rare earth elements(HREE) and the enrichment of light rare earth elements(LREE) indicate deposition in a reducing environment. It thus appears that the Majiagou Formation below the Huainan Coalfield closely resembles that in the eastern part of the Ordos Basin, where several gas reservoirs are present,so that the Majiagou Formation under the Huainan Coalfield represents a promising target for hydrocarbon exploration. 展开更多

The Late Permian was marked by a series of important geological events and widespread organic-rich black shale depositions, acting as important unconventional hydrocarbon source rocks. However, the mechanism of organic matter(OM)enrichment throughout this period is still controversial.Based on geochemical data, the marine redox conditions, paleogeographic and hydrographic environment, primary productivity, volcanism, and terrigenous input during the Late Permian in the Lower Yangtze region have been studied from the Putaoling section,Chaohu,to provide new insights into OM accumulation.Five Phases are distinguished based on the TOC and environmental variations. In Phase I,anoxic conditions driven by water restriction enhanced OM preservation. In Phase II,euxinic and cycling hydrological environments were the two most substantial controlling factors for the massive OM deposition.During Phase III,intensified terrestrial input potentially diluted the OM in sediment and the presence of oxygen in bottom water weakened the preservation condition.Phase IV was characterized by a relatively higher abundance of mercury(Hg)and TOC(peak at 16.98 wt%),indicating that enhanced volcanism potentially stimulated higher productivity and a euxinic environment. In Phase V,extremely lean OM was preserved as a result of terrestrial dilutions and decreasing primary productivity.Phases I,II and IV are characterized as the most prominent OM-rich zones due to the effective interactions of the controlling factors, namely paleogeographic, hydrographic environment, volcanism, and redox conditions. 展开更多

Natural slopes usually display complicated exposed rock surfaces that are characterized by complex and substantial terrain undulation and ubiquitous undesirable phenomena such as vegetation cover and rockfalls. This study presents a systematic outcrop research of fracture pattern variations in a complicated rock slope, and the qualitative and quantitative study of the complex phenomena impact on threedimensional(3D)discrete fracture network(DFN)modeling. As the studies of the outcrop fracture pattern have been so far focused on local variations, thus,we put forward a statistical analysis of global variations. The entire outcrop is partitioned into several subzones, and the subzone-scale variability of fracture geometric properties is analyzed(including the orientation, the density, and the trace length). The results reveal significant variations in fracture characteristics(such as the concentrative degree, the average orientation, the density, and the trace length)among different subzones. Moreover, the density of fracture sets, which is approximately parallel to the slope surface, exhibits a notably higher value compared to other fracture sets across all subzones. To improve the accuracy of the DFN modeling, the effects of three common phenomena resulting from vegetation and rockfalls are qualitatively analyzed and the corresponding quantitative data processing solutions are proposed.Subsequently, the 3D fracture geometric parameters are determined for different areas of the high-steep rock slope in terms of the subzone dimensions. The results show significant variations in the same set of 3D fracture parameters across different regions with density differing by up to tenfold and mean trace length exhibiting differences of 3e4 times. The study results present precise geological structural information, improve modeling accuracy, and provide practical solutions for addressing complex outcrop issues. 展开更多

Human activities and industrialization have significantly increased soil nutrients, such as nitrogen(N)and phos-phorus(P),profoundly impacting the composition and structure of plant community,as well as the ecosystem functions, especially in nutrient-limited ecosystems. However,as the key propagule pool of perennial grasslands, how belowground bud bank and its relationship with aboveground vegetation respond to short-term changes in soil nutrients was still unclear. In this study,we conducted a short-term(2021–2022)soil fertilization experiment with N addition(10 g N m^(-2) yr^(-1))and P addition(5 g N m^(-2) yr^(-1))in the meadow steppe of Inner Mongolia,China,to explore the responses of belowground bud bank, aboveground shoot population and their relationships(represented by the ratio of bud to shoot density-meristem limitation index(MLI))for the whole community and three plant functional groups(perennial rhizomatous grasses-PR,perennial bunchgrasses-PB,and perennial forbs-PF)to nutrient addition. The short-term nutrient addition had no significant influences on belowground bud density, aboveground shoot density, and MLI of the whole plant community.Plant functional groups showed different responses to soil fertilization.Specifically,N addition significantly increased the bud density and shoot density of PR,especially in combination with P addition.N addition reduced the shoot density of PF but had no influence on its bud density and MLI.Nutrient addition had significant effects on the three indicators of PB.Our study indicates that the belowground bud bank and its relationship with aboveground vegetation in temperate meadow steppe are insensitive to short-term soil fertilization, but plant functional groups exhibit specific responses in terms of population regeneration, which implies that plant community composition and ecosystem functions will be changed under the ongoing global change. 展开更多

Recent advances in deep neural networks have shed new light on physics, engineering, and scientific computing.Reconciling the data-centered viewpoint with physical simulation is one of the research hotspots. The physicsinformedneural network(PINN)is currently the most general framework, which is more popular due to theconvenience of constructing NNs and excellent generalization ability. The automatic differentiation(AD)-basedPINN model is suitable for the homogeneous scientific problem;however,it is unclear how AD can enforce fluxcontinuity across boundaries between cells of different properties where spatial heterogeneity is represented bygrid cells with different physical properties. In this work,we propose a criss-cross physics-informed convolutionalneural network(CC-PINN)learning architecture, aiming to learn the solution of parametric PDEs with spatialheterogeneity of physical properties. To achieve the seamless enforcement of flux continuity and integration ofphysicalmeaning into CNN,a predefined 2D convolutional layer is proposed to accurately express transmissibilitybetween adjacent cells. The efficacy of the proposedmethodwas evaluated through predictions of several petroleumreservoir problems with spatial heterogeneity and compared against state-of-the-art(PINN)through numericalanalysis as a benchmark, which demonstrated the superiority of the proposed method over the PINN. 展开更多

The ultrasonic technique has been demonstrated to be a promising method for the disposal of hazardous oily sludge. However, the separation of oil from the surfaces of the solid particles is still difficult due to the strong interaction between the oil and solid particle. In this study, three types of surfactants were used to assist the ultrasonic treatment of oily sludge. The oil component, surface composition, and structure of the solid particle were determined. The results showed that different surfactants had different oil removal abilities. In the three surfactant-assisted sonication systems, the oil removal rate increased during the starting reaction period and then decreased with longer sonication time. The results of four components analysis suggested that surfactant easy to be ionized in water posed a better removal effect on resins, while the amphiphilic surfactant preferred saturates, aromatics and asphaltenes. The morphology analysis indicated that particle size was shattered into smaller ones by the ultrasonic process, and the wettability of the solid surface also changed during this treatment. The characterization of the oil component and solid particle during surfactant-assisted ultrasonication treatment will help to better understand the separation of oil from oily sludge and improve the oil recovery efficiency from oily sludge. 展开更多

The rare earth elements(REE)content of the coal in the Erlian Basin was determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS),and it turns out that the REE content from different geological age shows a significant difference:The REE content of the coal in the Jurassic Alatanheli Group is from 152.05×10^(−6) to 1416.21×10^(−6),with an average value of 397.31×10^(−6),and the relative concentration factor shows enriched;the REE content of the coal in Early Cretaceous Baiyanhua Group is from 20.65×10^(−6) to 102.53×10^(−6),the mean value is 49.06×10^(−6),and the relative concentration factor shows normally. The REE distribution patterns samples in Jurassic and Cretaceous shows the difference:The REE pattern in Jurassic coal mainly manifests as H-type distribution, with the Y,Lu positive anomaly,it is speculated that the fluid carried REE ions into the coal-bearing basin, and the heavy REE gather in the coal due to the different chemical properties of each REE.The REE occurrence mode is presumed to be mainly organic.Flat type is the REE main distribution pattern in Cretaceous coal. The REE patterns in clastic rocks of the roof, parting and floor of coal seam are similar to the REE patterns in the coal and the most possible reason is that the REE main source is from the clastic rock.It showed that the coal of the Early Jurassic, especially of Amugulen coalfield has resource value. 展开更多

To make three-dimensional electromagnetic exploration achievable, the distributed wide field electromagnetic method(WFEM)based on the high-order 2^(n) sequence pseudo-random signal is proposed and realized. In this method, only one set of high-order pseudo-random waveforms, which contains all target frequencies,is needed.Based on high-order sequence pseudo-random signal construction algorithm, the waveform can be customized according to different exploration tasks. And the receivers are independent with each other and dynamically adjust the acquisition parameters according to different requirements.A field test in the deep iron ore of Qihe−Yucheng showed that the distributed WFEM based on high-order pseudo-random signal realizes the high-efficiency acquisition of massive electromagnetic data in quite a short time.Compared with traditional controlled-source electromagnetic methods, the distributed WFEM is much more efficient.Distributed WFEM can be applied to the large scale and high-resolution exploration for deep resources and minerals. 展开更多

Full waveform inversion(FWI)is an extremely important velocity-model-building method. However,it involves a large amount of calculation, which hindsers its practical application. The multi-source technology can reduce the number of forward modeling shots during the inversion process, thereby improving the efficiency. However,it introduces crossnoise problems. In this paper,we propose a sparse constrained encoding multi-source FWI method based on K-SVD dictionary learning. The phase encoding technology is introduced to reduce crosstalk noise, whereas the K-SVD dictionary learning method is used to obtain the basis of the transformation according to the characteristics of the inversion results. The multiscale inversion method is adopted to further enhance the stability of FWI.Finally, the synthetic subsag model and the Marmousi model are set to test the effectiveness of the newly proposed method.Analysis of the results suggest the following:(1)The new method can effectively reduce the computational complexity of FWI while ensuring inversion accuracy and stability;(2)The proposed method can be combined with the time-domain multi-scale FWI strategy flexibly to further avoid the local minimum and to improve the stability of inversion, which is of significant importance for the inversion of the complex model. 展开更多

Since the 1960 s, mining science and technology in China has experienced two technical innovations, i.e.the ‘‘Masonry Beam Theory(MBT)" and ‘‘Transfer Rock Beam Theory(TRBT)". Based on those theories, the conventional mining method(being called the 121 mining method) was established, consisting of excavating two tunnels with a pillar left for mining a working panel. However, with increasing mining depth, engineering geological disasters in the underground caverns have been frequently encountered. In addition, the use of the coal-pillar mining results in a large amount of coal resources unexploited. In order to address the problems above, the ‘‘Roof Cut Short-Arm Beam Theory(RCSBT), being called the 110 mining method)" was proposed by He Manchao in 2008. The 110 mining method features the mining of one coal seam panel, excavating necessarily only one roadway tunnel and leaving no pillars. Realization of the 110 mining method includes the following steps:(1) directional pre-splitting roof cutting,(2) supporting the roof by using high Constant Resistance Large Deformation bolt/cable(CRLD), and(3) blocking gangue by hydraulic props. This paper presents an overview of the principles, techniques and application of the 110 mining method. Special emphasis is placed on the numerical simulation of the geostress distribution found in the mining panel using the 110 method compared to that of the 121 method. In addition, the stress distribution on the ‘‘short beam" left by the roof cutting when performing the 110 method was also investigated using both numerical simulation and theoretical formulation. 展开更多

The Neoproterozoic evolution of the Jiangnan Orogen is important for understanding the tectonic history of South China. As a volcanic-sedimentary sequence developed in the Nanhua rift, the Banxi Group preserves the records of important magmatic and tectonic events linked to the assembly and breakup of the Rodinia supercontinent. In this study,we report the results from whole-rock major-and trace-element concentrations, with zircon LA-(MC)-ICP-MS U-Pb ages, trace elements and Lu-Hf isotopic compositions of sandstones from the Banxi Group. The rocks are characterized by high SiO_(2)(65.88%–82.76%,with an average of 75.50%)contents,moderate(Fe_(2)O_(3)^(T)+MgO)(1.81%–7.78%,mean:3.79%)and TiO_(2)(0.39%–0.54%,mean:0.48%),low K_(2)O/Na_(2)O(0.03–0.40,mean:0.10)ratios and low Al_2O_(3)/SiO_(2)(0.11–0.24,mean:0.15)ratios.The sandstones have highΣREE contents(mean:179.1 ppm),with chondrite-normalized REE patterns similar to the upper crust and PAAS,showing enriched LREE((La/Yb)_N mean:14.85),sub-horizontal HREE curves and mild Eu(Eu/Eu^(*):0.75–0.89,mean:0.81)negative anomalies.Their geochemical characteristics resemble those of passive continental margin sandstones. Most of the zircons are magmatic in origin and yield a U-Pb age distribution with three peaks:a major age peak at 805 Ma and two subordinate age peaks at 1990 Ma and 2470 Ma,implying three major magmatic sources. The Neoproterozoic zircons haveε_(Hf)(t)values ranging from-47.4 to 12.4(mostly-20 to 0),suggesting a mixture of some juvenile arc-derived material and middle Paleoproterozoic heterogeneous crustal sources. The Hf model ages of middle Paleoproterozoic zircons(~1990 Ma)with negativeε_(Hf)(t)values(-12.65 to-6.21,Ave.=-9.8)concentrated around the Meso-Paleoarchean(mean T_(DM)^(C)=3.3–3.1 Ga).For late Neoarchean detrital zircons(~2470 Ma),ε_(Hf)(t)values are divided into two groups, one with negative values(-9.16 to-0.6)with model ages of 3.5–2.9 Ga,the other featuring positive values(1.0 to 3.9)with model ages of 2.9–2.7 Ga,recording a crustal growth event at~2.5 Ga.Neoproterozoic zircons show volcanic arc affinities with partly intraplate magmatic features. We propose that the Banxi Group formed in a rift basin within a passive continental margin setting, which derived detritus from felsic to intermediate rocks from the Yangtze Block and a small amount of arc volcanic rocks. The middle Paleoproterozoic detrital zircon data suggest Columbia-aged basement lies beneath the western Jiangnan orogen. 展开更多

GC/MS and GC/MS/MS techniques were employed to describe the characteristics of biomarker assem-blages in two sets of hydrocarbon source rocks,Jurassic and Permian,in southwestern Tarim, and the parameters for the classification of the two sets of hydrocarbon source rocks have been established. It is found that diahopane and C30-unknown terpane are abundant in Permian samples, the contents of diahopane in Jurassic samples are relatively low,and terpenoids have been detected in Jurassic samples but not in Permian source rock samples. Kekeya crude oils are abundant in diahopane and C30-unknown terpane. The results of fine oil-rock correlation indicated that Kekeya crude oils were derived mainly from the Permian hydrocarbon source rocks. However,a small amount of diterpenoid was detected in the crude oils, indicating that the Jurassic hydrocarbon source rocks also made a certain contribution to Kekeya crude oils. 展开更多

The Gaussian beam migration(GBM) is a steady imaging approach, which has high accuracy and efficiency. Its implementation mainly includes the traditional frequency domain and the recent popular space-time domain. Firstly, we use the upward ray tracing strategy to get the backward wavefields. Then,we use the dominant frequency of the seismic data to simplify the imaginary traveltime calculation of the wavefields, which can cut down the Fourier transform number compared with the traditional GBM in the space-time domain. In addition, we choose an optimized parameter for the take-off angle increment of the up-going and down-going rays. These optimizations help us get an efficient space-time-domain acoustic GBM approach. Typical four examples show that the proposed method can significantly improve the computational efficiency up to one or even two orders of magnitude in different models with different model parameters and produce good imaging results with comparable accuracy and resolution with the traditional GBM in the space-time domain. 展开更多

In conventional marine seismic exploration data processing, the sea surface is usually treated as a horizontal free boundary. However, the sea surface is affected by wind and waves and there often exists dynamic small-range fluctuations. These dynamic fluctuations will change the energy propagation path and affect the final imaging results. In theoretical research, different sea surface conditions need to be described,so it is necessary to study the modeling method of dynamic undulating sea surface.Starting from the commonly used sea surface mathematical simulation methods, this paper mainly studies the realization process of simple harmonic wave and Gerstner wave sea surface simulation methods based on ocean wave spectrum, and compares their advantages and disadvantages.Aiming at the shortcomings of the simple harmonic method and Gerstner method in calculational speed and sea surface simulation effect,a method based on wave equation and using dynamic boundary conditions for sea surface simulation is proposed. The calculational speed of this method is much faster than the commonly used simple harmonic method and Gerstner wave method. In addition, this paper also compares the new method with the more commonly used higher-order spectral methods to show the characteristics of the improved wave equation method. 展开更多

Gassmann's theory is not suitable for materials saturated with viscoelastic fluids. Directly applying such model leads to unreliable results for seismic inversion of heavy oil reservoir. To describe the viscoelastic behavior of heavy oil, we modeled the elastic properties of heavy oil with varying viscosity and frequency using the Cole-Cole-Maxwell (CCM) model. Then, we used a CCoherent Potential Approximation (CPA) instead of the Gassmann equations to account for the fluid effect, by extending the single-phase fluid condition to two-phase fluid (heavy oil and water) condition, so that partial saturation of heavy oil can be considered. This rock physics model establishes the relationship between the elastic modulus of reservoir rock and viscosity, frequency and saturation. The viscosity of the heavy oil and the elastic moduli and porosity of typical reservoir rock samples were measured in laboratory, which were used for calibration of the rock physics model. The well-calibrated frequency-variant CPA model was applied to the prediction of the P- and S-wave velocities in the seismic frequency range (1–100 Hz) and the inversion of petrophysical parameters for a heavy oil reservoir. The pre-stack inversion results of elastic parameters are improved compared with those results using the CPA model in the sonic logging frequency (∼10 kHz), or conventional rock physics model such as the Xu-Payne model. In addition, the inversion of the porosity of the reservoir was conducted with the simulated annealing method, and the result fits reasonably well with the logging curve and depicts the location of the heavy oil reservoir on the time slice. The application of the laboratory-calibrated CPA model provides better results with the velocity dispersion correction, suggesting the important role of accurate frequency dependent rock physics models in the seismic prediction of heavy oil reservoirs. 展开更多

The upper Cretaceous Sarvak reservoir in the Azadegan oil field of southwest Iran has its oil–water contact nearly horizontal from the north to the center and dips steeply from the center to the south. The purpose of this paper is to interpret this abnormal reservoir feature by examining the accumulation elements, characteristics, and evolution based on the 3D seismic, coring, and well logging data.Generally,in the field, the Sarvak reservoir is massive and vertically heterogeneous, and impermeable interlayers are rare. The distribution of petrophysical properties is mainly dominated by the depositional paleogeomorphology and degrades from north to south laterally. The source is the lower Cretaceous Kazhdumi Formation of the eastern Dezful sag,and the seal is the muddy dense limestone of the Cenozoic Gurpi and Pebdeh Formations.Combined with the trap evolution, the accumulation evolution can be summarized as follows: the Sarvak play became a paleo-anticlinal trap in the Alpine tectonic activity after the late Cretaceous(96 Ma) and then was relatively peaceful in the later long geologic period. The Kazhdumi Formation entered in the oil window at the early Miocene(12–10 Ma) and charged the Sarvak bed, thus forming the paleo-reservoir.Impacted by the ZagrosOrogeny, the paleo-reservoir trap experienced a strong secondary deformation in the late Pliocene(4 Ma),which shows as the paleo-trap shrank dramatically and the prelow southern area uplifted and formed a new secondary anticline trap, hence evolving to the current two structural highs with the south point(secondary trap) higher than the north(paleo-trap).The trap deformation broke the paleoreservoir kinetic equilibrium and caused the secondary reservoir adjustment. The upper seal prevented vertical oil dissipation, and thus, the migration is mainly in interior Sarvak bed from northern paleo-reservoir to the southern secondary trap. The strong reservoir heterogeneity and the degradation trend of reservoir properties along migration path(north to south) made the reservoir readjustment extremely slow, plus the short and insufficient re-balance time, making the Sarvak form an ‘‘unsteady reservoir''which is still in the readjustment process and has not reached a new balance state. The current abnormal oil–water contact versus the trap evolutionary trend indicates the secondary readjustment is still in its early stage and has only impacted part of paleo-reservoir.Consequently,not all of the reservoir is dominated by the current structure, and some parts still stay at the paleo-reservoir form. From the overview above,we suggest the following for the future development: In the northern structural high, the field development should be focused on the original paleoreservoir zone.In the southern structural high, compared with the secondary reservoir of the Sarvak with the tilted oil–water contact and huge geologic uncertainty, the lower sandstone reservoirs are more reliable and could be developed first, and then the deployment optimized of the upper Sarvak after obtaining sufficient geological data.By the hints of the similar reservoir characteristics and tectonic inheritance with Sarvak, the lower Cretaceous Fahliyancarbonate reservoir is also proved to be an unsteady reservoir with a tilted oil–water contact. 展开更多

The Qiongdongnan Basin and Zhujiang River(Pearl River) Mouth Basin, important petroliferous basins in the northern South China Sea, contain abundant oil and gas resource. In this study, on basis of discussing impact of oil-base mud on TOC content and Rock-Eval parameters of cutting shale samples, the authors did comprehensive analysis of source rock quality, thermal evolution and control effect of source rock in gas accumulation of the Qiongdongnan and the Zhujiang River Mouth Basins. The contrast analysis of TOC contents and Rock-Eval parameters before and after extraction for cutting shale samples indicates that except for a weaker impact on Rock-Eval parameter S2, oil-base mud has certain impact on Rock-Eval S1, Tmax and TOC contents. When concerning oil-base mud influence on source rock geochemistry parameters, the shales in the Yacheng/Enping,Lingshui/Zhuhai and Sanya/Zhuhai Formations have mainly Type Ⅱ and Ⅲ organic matter with better gas potential and oil potential. The thermal evolution analysis suggests that the depth interval of the oil window is between 3 000 m and 5 000 m. Source rocks in the deepwater area have generated abundant gas mainly due to the late stage of the oil window and the high-supper mature stage. Gas reservoir formation condition analysis made clear that the source rock is the primary factor and fault is a necessary condition for gas accumulation. Spatial coupling of source, fault and reservoir is essential for gas accumulation and the inside of hydrocarbon-generating sag is future potential gas exploration area. 展开更多

The wide-field electromagnetic method is widely used in hydrocarbon exploration, mineral deposit detection, and geological disaster prediction. However, apparent resistivity and normalized field amplitude exceeding 2048 Hz often exhibit upward warping in data, making geophysical inversion and interpretation challenging. The cumulative error of the crystal oscillator in signal transmission and acquisition contributes to an upturned apparent resistivity curve. To address this,a high-frequency information extraction method is proposed based on time-domain signal reconstruction, which helps to record a complete current data sequence;moreover,it helps estimate the crystal oscillator error for the transmitted signal.Considering the recorded error,a received signal was corrected using a set of reconstruction algorithms. After processing, the high-frequency component of the wide-field electromagnetic data was not upturned, while accurate high-frequency information was extracted from the signal. Therefore, the proposed method helped effectively extract high-frequency components of all wide-field electromagnetic data. 展开更多
