The amount of undissolved ferrite in the steel were 0%,3%,10%,15% and 20% in volume fraction, respectively. The experimental results show that the existence of undissolved ferrite can increase the contact fatigue life The contact fatigue life can be prolonged with increasing the amounts of undissolved ferrite The grain size can be fined by using subcritical quenching process and the area of phase boundaries can also be greatly increased. The stress relaxation and grain refinement due to occurring of plastic deformation are main reasons for improving the fatigue life. The existence of undissolved ferrite can increase the crack initiation period. Under the experiment conditions, when the amount of undissolved ferrite is 10%, the longest contact fatigue life can be the obtained.展开更多

The major advantages of computer animations are:(1) the creation of animated animal stimuli with high variability of morphology and even behavior; (2)animated stimuli provide highly standardized, controlled and repeatable testing procedures; and (3)they allow a reduction in the number of live test animals regarding the 3Rs principle. But the use of ani-mated animals should be attended by a thorough validation for each test species to verify that behaviormeasured with live animals toward virtual animals can also be expected with natural stimuli. Here wepresent results on the validation of a custom-made simulation for animated 3D sailfin mollies Poecilialatipinna and show that responses of live test females were as strong to an animated fish as to a videoor a live male fish. Movement of an animated stimulus was important but female response was stron-ger toward a swimming 3D fish stimulus than to a "swimming" box. Moreover, male test fish wereable to discriminate between animated male and female stimuli; hence, rendering the animated 3D fisha useful tool in mate-choice experiments with sailfin mollies.展开更多

A received signal strength indicator (RSSI) is applied as a variable to estimate the inter-distance between agents. A key parameter that contains the local information of agents is defined, and a multi-variable controller is proposed based on the parameter. For the position control of agents, the RSSI is introduced to substitute the distance as a control variable in the systems. The advantages of RSSI include that the relative distance between every two agents can be adjusted through the communication quality under different environments, and it can shun the shortage of the limit of sensors. Simulation studies demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control approach.展开更多

The porous CaO micro...It is hoped to develop a simple and low cost route for preparing the CaO with a novel morphology which can present high catalytic activity in catalyzing transesterification reaction for biodiesel. The porous CaO microsphere was synthesized by calcining spherical CaCO3 precursor which was prepared easily by mixing CaCl2 with Na2CO3. The as-prepared CaO microsphere was characterized by scanning electronic microscopy(SEM), powder X-ray diffractometry(XRD) and N2 adsorption experiment. The results reveal that the synthesized CaO is regular microsphere with many pores in its exterior and interior. The CaO microsphere is applied in catalyzing the transesterification reaction of soybean oil for biodiesel and presents excellent catalytic ability with a transesterification yield of 98.72%. This catalyst could have potential applications in other fields in view of its well-defined morphology, simply synthetic route and low cost.展开更多

In this method, only selected clusters...This paper presents a collaborative beamforming (CB) technique to organize the sensor node's location in a linear array for green wireless sensor network (WSN) applications. In this method, only selected clusters and active CB nodes are needed each time to perform CB in WSNs. The proposed least-square linear array (LSLA) manages to select nodes to perform as a linear antenna array (LAA), which is similar to and as outstanding as the conventional uniform linear array (ULA). The LSLA technique is also able to solve positioning error problems that exist in the random nodes deployment. The beampattern fluctuations have been analyzed due to the random positions of sensor nodes. Performances in terms of normalized power gains are given. It is demonstrated by a simulation that the proposed technique gives similar performances to the conventional ULA and at the same time exhibits lower complexity.展开更多

Various optimization methods, such as the particle swarm opti...In this paper, the design optimization of the structural parameters of multilayer conductors in high temperature superconducting (HTS) cable is reviewed. Various optimization methods, such as the particle swarm optimization (PSO), the genetic algorithm (GA), and a robust optimization method based on design for six sigma (DFSS), have been applied to realize uniform current distribution among the multilayer HTS conductors. The continuous and discrete variables, such as the winding angle, radius, and winding direction of each layer, are chosen as the design parameters. Under the constraints of the mechanical properties and critical current, PSO is proven to be a more powerful tool than GA for structural parameter optimization, and DFSS can not only achieve a uniform current distribution, but also improve significantly the reliability and robustness of the HTS cable quality.展开更多

Among all the NoC architectures that have been proposed until now, 2D-Mes...Networks-on-chip (NoC), a new system on chip (SoC) paradigm, has become a great focus of research by many groups during the last few years. Among all the NoC architectures that have been proposed until now, 2D-Mesh has proved to be the best architecture for implementation due to its regular and simple interconnection structure. In this paper, we propose a new interconnect architecture called 2D-diagonal mesh (2DDgl-Mesh) for on-chip communication. The 2DDglMesh is almost similar to traditional 2D-Mesh in aspects of cost, area, and implementation, but it can outperform the later in delay. The both architectures are compared by using NS-2 (a network simulator) and CINS1M (a component based interconnection simulator) under the same traffic models and parametric conditions. The results of comparison show that under the proposed architecture, the packets can almost always be routed to their destinations in less time. In addition, our archi- tecture can sometimes perform better than 2D-Mesh in drop ratio for special fixed traffic models.展开更多

Deserts are one of the major landforms on the Earth. While deserts occupy about one-fifth of Earth’s land surface, they have been studied to a much lesser extent. All over the world, desert landforms are expanding ev...Deserts are one of the major landforms on the Earth. While deserts occupy about one-fifth of Earth’s land surface, they have been studied to a much lesser extent. All over the world, desert landforms are expanding ever rapidly and more and more human settlements are finding place in desert regions for habitation. Thus, quantifying and monitoring dunes becomes more relevant from a managerial perspective. Analyzing desert areas using satellite imagery is a challenging task due to weak textural differences and nearly homogeneous spectral responses in most parts of the terrain. In this paper, a post-clustering methodology for change detection of desert sand dunes is proposed. Features based on Radon spectrum are used to cluster dunes of various orientations. These clustered boundaries are used to detect if there are any changes occurring in the dune regions. In the experiments, remote sensing data covering various dune regions of the world are observed for possible changes in dune orientations. In all the cases, it is seen that there are no major changes in desert dune orientations since three decades.展开更多

We give a formal definition of CDPBS and propose a concrete provably secure CDPBS scheme. The proposed scheme is efficient and secure, in which its unforgeability is the same as that of the Schnorr's signature scheme and its untransferability relies on the hardness of the decisional Diffie-Hellman problem. Furthermore, by letting the user's private key be a common constant, the proposed scheme can be used as a normal partially blind signature scheme.展开更多

First, to handle discrete variables and s...Dynamic Reactive Power Optimization(DRPO) is a large-scale, multi-period, and strongly coupled nonlinear mixed-integer programming problem that is difficult to solve directly. First, to handle discrete variables and switching operation constraints, DRPO is formulated as a nonlinear constrained two-objective optimization problem in this paper. The first objective is to minimize the real power loss and the Total Voltage Deviations(TVDs), and the second objective is to minimize incremental system loss. Then a Filter Collaborative State Transition Algorithm(FCSTA) is presented for solving DRPO problems. Two populations corresponding to two different objectives are employed. Moreover, the filter technique is utilized to deal with constraints. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through the results obtained for a 24-hour test on Ward & Hale 6 bus, IEEE 14 bus, and IEEE 30 bus test power systems. To substantiate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms, the obtained results are compared with different approaches in the literature.展开更多
Goethite iron precipitation process is a key step in direct leaching process of zinc,whose aim is to remove ferrous ions from zinc sulphate solution.The process consists of several cascade reactors,and each of them co...Goethite iron precipitation process is a key step in direct leaching process of zinc,whose aim is to remove ferrous ions from zinc sulphate solution.The process consists of several cascade reactors,and each of them contains complex chemical reactions featured by strong nonlinearity and large time delay.Therefore,it is hard to build up an accurate mathematical model to describe the dynamic changes in the process.In this paper,by studying the mechanism of these reactions and combining historical data and expert experience,the modeling method called asynchronous fuzzy cognitive networks(AFCN)is proposed to solve the various time delay problem.Moreover,the corresponding AFCN model for goethite iron precipitation process is established.To control the process according to fuzzy rules,the nonlinear Hebbian learning algorithm(NHL)terminal constraints is firstly adopted for weights learning.Then the model parameters of equilibrium intervals corresponding to different operating conditions can be calculated.Finally,the matrix meeting the expected value and the weight value of steady states is stored into fuzzy rules as prior knowledge.The simulation shows that the AFCN model for goethite iron precipitation process could precisely describe the dynamic changes in the system,and verifies the superiority of control method based on fuzzy rules.展开更多

Using evolutionary search strategies ...Superexchange effects play an important role in the determination of crystal structures; however, there has been much less reported on how they determine the stability of dusters. Using evolutionary search strategies and DFT+U (density functional theory with the Hubbard U correction) calculations, we investigate the global minimum-energy structures of Fe12O12 clusters. Among predicted Fe12O12 dusters, a cage-shaped Fe12O12 cluster with unexpected stability was observed. In addition, the bare Fe12O12 cluster is shown to possess an extremely large energy gap (2.00 eV), which is greater than that of C60, Au20 and Al13- clusters. Using a Heisenberg model, we traced the origin of the unexpected stability of the bare Fe12O12 cluster to magnetic competition between the nearestneighbor exchange constant h and the next-nearest neighbor exchange constant J2 that was induced by the superexchange interactions. The bare Fe12O12 cluster is thus a unique molecule that is stable and chemically inert.展开更多

文摘Goethite iron precipitation process is a key step in direct leaching process of zinc,whose aim is to remove ferrous ions from zinc sulphate solution.The process consists of several cascade reactors,and each of them contains complex chemical reactions featured by strong nonlinearity and large time delay.Therefore,it is hard to build up an accurate mathematical model to describe the dynamic changes in the process.In this paper,by studying the mechanism of these reactions and combining historical data and expert experience,the modeling method called asynchronous fuzzy cognitive networks(AFCN)is proposed to solve the various time delay problem.Moreover,the corresponding AFCN model for goethite iron precipitation process is established.To control the process according to fuzzy rules,the nonlinear Hebbian learning algorithm(NHL)terminal constraints is firstly adopted for weights learning.Then the model parameters of equilibrium intervals corresponding to different operating conditions can be calculated.Finally,the matrix meeting the expected value and the weight value of steady states is stored into fuzzy rules as prior knowledge.The simulation shows that the AFCN model for goethite iron precipitation process could precisely describe the dynamic changes in the system,and verifies the superiority of control method based on fuzzy rules.

文摘Superexchange effects play an important role in the determination of crystal structures; however, there has been much less reported on how they determine the stability of dusters. Using evolutionary search strategies and DFT+U (density functional theory with the Hubbard U correction) calculations, we investigate the global minimum-energy structures of Fe12O12 clusters. Among predicted Fe12O12 dusters, a cage-shaped Fe12O12 cluster with unexpected stability was observed. In addition, the bare Fe12O12 cluster is shown to possess an extremely large energy gap (2.00 eV), which is greater than that of C60, Au20 and Al13- clusters. Using a Heisenberg model, we traced the origin of the unexpected stability of the bare Fe12O12 cluster to magnetic competition between the nearestneighbor exchange constant h and the next-nearest neighbor exchange constant J2 that was induced by the superexchange interactions. The bare Fe12O12 cluster is thus a unique molecule that is stable and chemically inert.
