Theoretical Logic and Practical Pathways for Distance Open Education Empowering the Enhancement of Digital Literacy among Rural Cadres

At present, enhancing the digital literacy of village cadres faces practical constraints such as governance capability gaps induced by the second-level digital divide, the absence of a systematic cultivation system, incomplete last-kilometer implementation for translating skills into practice, and inadequate incentive mechanisms. As a novel educational form deeply integrating digital information technology with teaching and learning, distance open education provides multi-directional empowerment for enhancing village cadres digital literacy. This is achieved through open learning methods, the application of modern digital technologies, tailored learning programs, and the establishment of "overpass bridges" for translating learning outcomes into practice. Based on this, it is essential to further streamline the pathways for educating and cultivating village cadres, vigorously promote the digitalization of teaching, practice, and support services, develop systematic and localized digital education resources, and actively explore and establish a complementary credit bank system for their digital literacy cultivation. 展开更多

The purpose of this study is to gain perspectives on introducing IBCTL(International Baccalaureate Certificate in Teaching and Learning)into graduate school of teacher education in Japan,which are currently providing advanced teacher training programs aimed at cultivating student agency,a comprehensive set of skills necessary for children living in the future,as advocated by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development(OECD)Education 2030 Project.To achieve this goal,I examined the curriculum and structure that are important for IB teacher training and the introduction of IBCTL.I attempted to achieve this goal by examining the curriculum being developed at a graduate school of teacher education attempting to implement IBCTL and the creation of a syllabus based on that curriculum through lesson planning.As a result,I examined the curriculum and structure as a perspective for introducing IBCTL into graduate school of teacher education in Japan,where advanced teacher training is required.I found that a core curriculum and structure that incorporates the core of the IBCTL into the core of graduate school of teacher education programs is important for implementing an IB education that is aligned with the advancement of teacher training and the development of student agency. 展开更多

Group Differences and Enhancement Strategies in Career Adaptability:An Empirical Study of 257 Teacher Education Students Majoring in Primary Education

To understand career adaptability among undergraduates majoring in Primary Education in provincial normal universities,this study surveyed 257 such students and analyzed the current state and characteristics of their career adaptability.The results indicate that their overall career adaptability is moderately high.Significant differences in career adaptability were found by program type.Maternal education exerted a notable influence on overall career adaptability and on the“career confidence”dimension,whereas paternal education only showed a highly significant effect on“career confidence.”Therefore,schools should consolidate their role as the main arena for education,while families should provide supportive environments,jointly addressing the career adaptation and development needs of Primary Education undergraduates and further enhancing their career adaptability. 展开更多

Early childhood character education is a critical element in shaping an individual’s moral foundation and fostering a sense of social responsibility.It plays a fundamental role in overall personal development.Although China’s early childhood character education has made progress with the support of policies and practical exploration,it still faces challenges such as the homogenization of educational models,a formalization of home-kindergarten cooperation,a single-dimensional evaluation system,and a need for further improvement in teachers’professional competence in character education.This paper draws on core theories of character education(e.g.,social learning theory and cognitive moral development theory)and incorporates representative case studies to conduct an in-depth analysis of the current landscape and associated challenges.It proposes innovative approaches,which include establishing a“threefold”system of implementation,enhancing the mechanisms for home-kindergarten co-education,optimizing and ensuring a multidimensional and dynamic evaluation system,equitably allocating teaching resources,and expanding the social support networks.The aim is to offer theoretical reference and practical solutions to promote the scientific and systematic development of early childhood character education. 展开更多

This study is to explore the dual effects of rural education in promoting the physical and mental health of adolescents and developing agricultural labor force in the Philippines.By analyzing the data of the Philippine Bureau of Statistics(PSA),the report of the Ministry of Education and the survey of the Asian Development Bank(ADB)from 2015 to 2022,and combining with 12 core documents,this paper summarized the data of the Ministry of Education.It reveals that rural education has significantly improved the health literacy of adolescents through curriculum and community interaction(education coverage increased from 48%in 2015 to 67%in 2021),while providing an average annual labor reserve of 15%for agricultural production.In spite of this,geographical isolation(30%of rural schools need to walk more than hour)and uneven distribution of resources(education expenditure per student in urban areas is 2.3 times that in rural areas)are still main constraints for the education effectiveness.Finally,this study proposes implementing the policy framework of"integration of agricultural education",integrating mental health services and vocational skills training,and establishing a cross-sectoral collaboration mechanism. 展开更多

Enhancing orthopaedic competency through simulation: A studentcentered approach to bridge educational gaps

BACKGROUND Orthopedic training,one of the most useful but under-represented specialties in undergraduate medical curricula,has some difficulties in clinical teaching.AIM To determine if simulation-based learning(SBL)was effective in enhancing procedural accuracy,skill confidence,and knowledge recall in final-year medical students.METHODS This was a cross-sectional observational study performed in the Department of Orthopaedics in a tertiary care teaching hospital with simulation training facilities.The trial was conducted over 2 months(January 2025-February 2025)and was designed to determine the effect of SBL on procedural skills,knowledge retention,and self-perceived confidence in a group of final-year medical students.The inclusion criterion was undergraduate medical students in their final year who had clinical postings in orthopedics.Convenience sampling was used to recruit 106 students.The sample size was estimated to achieve a post-training 50%improvement ratio in procedural accuracy,a confidence interval of 95%,and an absolute precision of 10%.The simulation sessions included exercises with synthetic bone models,cast equipment,and procedural packs[orthopedic skills:(1)Closed fracture reduction;(2)Application of plaster;and(3)Traction].Each session consisted of an instructor-led demonstration,practice under supervision,and immediate feedback.RESULTS In our study involving 106 final-year medical students,SBL significantly improved procedural accuracy with scores rising from 62.5%to 84.9%(P<0.001).Knowledge retention also improved markedly with post-test scores increasing from 63.4%to 78.2%(P<0.001).Self-reported confidence levels showed a substantial gain,increasing from 4.6 to 8.2 on a 10-point scale.Prior simulation exposure and academic performance≥75%were significantly associated with higher post-training accuracy.Gender had no significant influence on outcomes.CONCLUSION The current study attested to the value of SBL in the enhancement of procedural skills,knowledge retention,and self-confidence of final-year medical students in orthopedics. 展开更多

Artificial intelligence (AI) has garnered significant interest within the educational domain over the past decade, promising to revolutionise teaching and learning. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of systematic reviews conducted from 2010 to 2023 on the implementation of AI in K-12 education. By synthesising findings from ten selected systematic reviews, this study explores the multifaceted opportunities and challenges posed by AI in education. The analysis reveals several key findings: AI’s potential to personalise learning, enhance student motivation, and improve teaching efficiency are highlighted as major strengths. However, the study also identifies critical concerns, including teacher resistance, high implementation costs, ethical considerations, and the need for extensive teacher training. These findings represent the most significant insights from the analysis, while additional findings further underscore the complexity and scope of AI integration in educational settings. The study employs a SWOT analysis to summarise these insights, identifying key areas for future research and policy development. This review aims to guide educators, policymakers, and researchers in effectively leveraging AI to enhance educational outcomes while addressing its inherent challenges. 展开更多
