METHODS: A rat model of intestinal ischemia was made by clamping superior mesenteric artery and lung injury was resulted from reperfusion. The animals were randomly divided into 3 groups: sham operation (Sham), 2 h ischemia followed by 2 h reperfusion (IR) and IR pretreated with aminoguanidine (AG) - an inhibitor of inducible NO synthase (iNOS) 15 minutes before reperfusion (IR+AG). The lung malondialdehyde (MDA) and nitrate/nitrite (NO2/NO3)contents and morphological changes were examined.Western blot was used to detect the iNOS protein expression.Immunohistochemical staining was used to determine the change of nitrotyrosine (NT)- a specific 'footprint' of ONOO-.
RESULTS: The morphology revealed evidence for lung edema, hemorrhage and polymorphonuclear sequestration after intestinal IR. Compared with sham group, lung contents of MDA and NO2-/NO3- in IR group were significantly increased (12.00±2.18 vs23.44±1.25 and 76.39±6.08 vs140.40±4.34,P<0.01) and the positive signals of iNOS and NT were also increased in the lung. Compared with IR group, the contents of MDA and NO2/NO3 in IR+AG group were significantly decreased (23.44±1.25 vs14.66±1.66 and 140.40±4.34 vs 80.00±8.56, P<0.01) and NT staining was also decreased.
CONCLUSION: Intestinal IR increases NO and ONOO production in the lung, which may be involved in intestinal IR-mediated lung injury.展开更多

The single arm of the silicon tube was sutured to proximal of the sciatic nerve. 10 μl 1 mmol/L ATP in physiological saline was injected into the left chamber of the silicon tube (experimental group) and physiological saline injected into another silicon tube as a control group. In another model 1 mmol/L 10 μl ATP and 1 mmol/L 10 μl ATP+0.2 mg/ml suramin were injected respectively into two arms of the silicon tube. After 4 and 8 weeks the specimens were obtained from the silicon tube for examining the axon regeneration histologically and image analysis. All the regeneration axons grew into the silicon tube containing the ATP, but there was no axon regeneration in the silicon tube containing the ATP+Suramin or physiological saline. It was demonstrated that extracellular ATP had a powerful attraction to the regenerated axon of peripheral nerve. The suramin inhibited the axon induction of the extracellular ATP completely via the ATP receptors.展开更多

The compressing or entrapping factors found during the operatious consisted of 14 sites in tendinous tissues, 12 in vessels, 6 in scar adhesions, and 3 unclear. Of 11 cases each had 2 or more compression sites. 19 patients underwent local decompression. And 4 cases had membranous and degenerated nerves resection and end-to-end anastomoses. Hypertrophy and inflammation appeared to be the main pathological changes in 10 cases. The causes and pathology are discussed and the early diagnosis and treatment emphasized.展开更多

Methods: From May 1995 to August 1996, 12 patients who had no recovery of biceps 3 months after birth were treated with nerve transposition. Eight had neuroma at the upper trunk and 4 had rupture or avulsion of the upper trunk. Mallet test was used to evaluate the results. Results: The follow up of 40 52 months showed that excellent and good recovery in functions was found in 75% of the patients and the excellent rate of phrenic nerve and accessory nerve transposition was 83.3 % and 66.7 % respectively. A complete recovery in shoulder and elbow joint function was in 3 patients and Mallet Ⅳ was in 6 patients. Conclusions: Satisfactory outcome can be obtained by using early nerve transposition in treating obstetrical brachial plexus.展开更多
