In order to understand the effects of cellular diffusion on the dynamic behaviors of cancer cell subpopulations,we establish a reaction-diffusion model of the competition between drug-sensitive and drug-resistant cancer cells.Firstly, taking drug dosage and diffusion coefficients as bifurcation parameters,we investigate the Turing instability conditions for the drug-sensitive and drug-resistant cancer cell model driven by passive-diffusion and cross-diffusion factors at the positive steady state solution, and obtain the distribution regions of the model undergoing Turing instability.Secondly,we deduce the wave speed conditions for the three types of traveling wave solutions connecting two nontrivial steady state solutions, and prove the existence of traveling wave solutions driven by passive-diffusion,using the eigenvalue analysis method, the upper and lower solution method, and Schauder’s fixed point theorem. Finally,we perform some numerical simulations to verify the results of the obtained theories and give the spatially inhomogeneous steady state solutions and the traveling wave solutions,as well as the wave solutions of the non-uniformity diffusion with different temporal and spatial locations. 展开更多

A stochastic predator-prey system with Markov switching is explored. We have developed a new chasing technique to efficiently solve the Fokker-Planck-Kolmogorov and backward Kolmogorov equations.Dynamic balance and reliability of the switching system are evaluated via stationary probability density function and first-passage failure theory, taking into account factors such as switching frequencies, noise intensities, and initial conditions. Results reveal that Markov switching leads to stochastic P-bifurcation,enhancing dynamic balance and reducing white-noise-induced oscillations. But frequent switching can heighten initial value dependence, harming reliability.Further, the influence of the subsystem on the switching system is not proportional to its action probabilities.Monte Carlo simulations validate the findings, offering an in-depth exploration of these dynamics. 展开更多

This paper focuses on the unsupervised detection of the Higgs boson particle using the most informative features and variables which characterize the“Higgs machine learning challenge 2014”data set. This unsupervised detection goes in this paper analysis through 4 steps:(1)selection of the most informative features from the considered data;(2)definition of the number of clusters based on the elbow criterion. The experimental results showed that the optimal number of clusters that group the considered data in an unsupervised manner corresponds to 2 clusters;(3)proposition of a new approach for hybridization of both hard and fuzzy clustering tuned with Ant Lion Optimization(ALO);(4)comparison with some existing metaheuristic optimizations such as Genetic Algorithm(GA)and Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO).By employing a multi-angle analysis based on the cluster validation indices, the confusion matrix, the efficiencies and purities rates, the average cost variation, the computational time and the Sammon mapping visualization, the results highlight the effectiveness of the improved Gustafson-Kessel algorithm optimized withALO(ALOGK)to validate the proposed approach.Even if the paper gives a complete clustering analysis, its novel contribution concerns only the Steps(1)and(3)considered above. The first contribution lies in the method used for Step(1)to select the most informative features and variables. We used the t-Statistic technique to rank them.Afterwards,a feature mapping is applied using Self-Organizing Map(SOM)to identify the level of correlation between them. Then,Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO),a metaheuristic optimization technique,is used to reduce the data set dimension. The second contribution of thiswork concern the third step, where each one of the clustering algorithms as K-means(KM),Global K-means(GlobalKM),Partitioning AroundMedoids(PAM),Fuzzy C-means(FCM),Gustafson-Kessel(GK)and Gath-Geva(GG)is optimized and tuned with ALO. 展开更多

In the present study,we concentrate on finding the dual solutions of biomagnetic fluid namely blood flow and heat transfer along with magnetic particles over a two dimensional shrinking cylinder in the presence of a magnetic dipole. To make the results physically realistic, stability analysis is also carried out in this study so that we realized which solution is stable and which is not.The governing partial equations are converted into ordinary differential equations by using similarity transformations and the numerical solution is calculated by applying bvp4c function technique in MATLAB software. The effects of different physical parameters are plotted graphically and discussed according to the outcomes of results. From the present study we observe that ferromagnetic interaction parameter had a great influenced on fluid velocity and temperature distributions. It is also found from the current analysis that the first and second solutions of shrinking cylinder obtained only when we applied particular ranges values of suction parameter. The most important characteristics part of study is to analyze the skin friction coefficient and rate of heat transfer which also covered in this analysis. It reveals that both skin friction coefficient and rate of heat transfer are reduced with rising values of ferromagnetic number.A comparison has also been made to make the solution feasible. 展开更多

In this paper, a class of discontinuous neutral-type neural networks (NTNNs) with proportional delays is considered. The targets of the paper are to study the problem of periodic solutions and fixed-time (FXT) stabilization of the addressed neural networks. In order to complete the targets, based on set-valued map, differential inclusions theory, coincidence theorem and Hölder inequality technique, some new proportional delay-dependent criteria shown by the inequalities are derived. Based on the fact of the existence of solution, further by applying the FXT stability lemmas and equivalent transformation, the zero solution of closed-loop system achieves FXT stabilization and the corresponding settling-times are estimated. Some previous related works on NTNNs are extended. Finally, one typical example is provided to show the effectiveness of the established results. 展开更多

This study investigates the performance of dual curved-leg pontoon floating breakwaters in finite water depth under the assumption of linear wave theory. The analysis is carried out for four different models of curvedleg geometries, which are combinations of convex and concave shapes. The models are classified as follows. Model-1: Seaside and leeside face concave, Model-2: Seaside and leeside face convex, Model-3: Seaside face convex and leeside face concave, and Model-4: Seaside face concave and leeside face convex. The Boundary Element Method is utilized in order to find a solution to the associated boundary value problem. The numerical results are validated against existing analytical and experimental data. Further, the study examines the wave reflection, wave transmission, and the hydrodynamic forces acting on the structure for different values of waves and structural parameters. Overall, the different dual curved-leg pontoon breakwaters are more effective, reducing wave transmission by over 15% and increasing wave reflection by more than 5% compared to traditional models. The study shows that the wave reflected by Model 1 significantly increased and attenuated the wave transmission relative to other models. The study found that the height of the curved-leg of Model 1 plays a critical role in blocking waves and redirecting the flow. More precisely, the present analysis concludes that the hydrodynamic performance of Model-1 presents an optimized breakwater design that outperforms the proposed models. 展开更多

The turning performance of a ship is an important aspect of its maneuverability, and accurately predicting the hydrodynamic forces during ship turning motion is of great significance for the safe maneuvering design of ships. This paper investigated the hydrodynamic performance of a KRISO container ship in steady turning using experimental and numerical approaches. The rotating arm tests were carried out in rotating arm basin of Zhejiang University, while the numerical simulations were conducted in commercial computational fluid dynamics software.Hydrodynamic forces and moments, hull surface wave height, wave patterns, and vorticity are studied under different velocities, radii, and drift angles. The results show that the increase in velocity has a significant impact on the forces and moments of the hull. The changes in longitudinal and transverse forces reflect the complex fluid dynamic interactions between the hull and water.Under conditions of small radius and large drift angle, the hull experiences greater forces and moments, indicating that stability and maneuverability will be more challenged during sudden turns. This study can provide experimental data and numerical simulation references for the research of ship turning maneuvers. 展开更多

This paper investigates the adhesive nanocontact behavior of an elastic halfplane indented by a rigid cylindrical indenter, incorporating the simultaneous effects of surface elasticity, couple stresses, and adhesion. The free surface of the half-plane is modeled by the Steigmann-Ogden surface elasticity theory, while the bulk material behavior is described by the classical couple-stress elasticity theory. The adhesion at the contact interface is characterized by the Maugis-Dugdale(MD)adhesive contact model.Building on the fundamental nonclassical Flamant solution, the governing equations and boundary conditions of the nanocontact problem are reformulated into a system of triple integral equations. These equations are solved numerically by the Gauss-Chebyshev quadratures in combination with an iterative algorithm. The validation against the existing literature confirms the accuracy and robustness of the proposed solution methodology.Comprehensive parametric studies are performed to elucidate the critical roles of surface elasticity and couple stresses in adhesive nanocontact. The numerical results provide insights into the complex interactions among surface,couple-stress,and adhesive effects.Specifically, the interplay between the surface and adhesive effects is predominantly competitive, while the interaction between the couple stresses and adhesion exhibits an intricate nature. The findings highlight the necessity of simultaneously considering surface elasticity, couple stresses, and adhesion in nanoindentation analyses to achieve accurate predictions of material responses. 展开更多

Nanotechnology holds immense importance in the biomedical field due to its ability to revolutionize healthcare on a molecular scale.Motivated by the imperative of enhancing patient outcomes,a comprehensive numerical simulation study on the dynamics of blood flow in a stenosed artery, focusing on the effects of copper and alumina nanoparticles,is conducted. The study employs a 2-dimensional Newtonian blood flow model infused with copper and alumina nanoparticles, considering the influence of a magnetic field, thermal radiation, and various flow parameters. The governing differential equations are first non-dimensionalized to facilitate analysis and subsequently solved using the 4th order collocation method,bvp4c module in MATLAB.This approach obtains velocity and temperature profiles, revealing the impact of relevant parameters crucial in the biomedical field. The findings of this study underscore the significance of understanding blood flow dynamics in stenosed arteries and the potential benefits of utilizing copper and alumina nanoparticles in treatment strategies. The incorporation of nanoparticles introduces novel avenues for enhancing therapeutic interventions, particularly in mitigating the effects of stenosis. The elucidation of velocity and temperature profiles provides valuable insights into the behavior of blood flow under different conditions, thereby informing the development of targeted biomedical applications. The arterial curvature flow parameter influences temperature profiles, with increased parameters promoting more efficient heat dissipation. The elevated values of Prandtl number and thermal radiation parameter showcase the diminished temperature profiles, indicating stronger dominance of momentum diffusion over thermal diffusion and radiative heat transfer mechanism.Sensitivity analysis of the pertinent physical parameters reveals that the Prandtl number has the most significant impact on blood flow dynamics.A statistical analysis of the present results and existing literature has also been included in the study.Overall, this research contributes to advancing our understanding of vascular health and lays the groundwork for innovative approaches in stenosis treatment and related biomedical fields. 展开更多

In this work, we first derive the one-point large deviations principle (LDP) for both the stochastic Cahn–Hilliard equation with small noise and its spatial finite difference method (FDM). Then, we focus on giving the convergence of the one-point large deviations rate function (LDRF) of the spatial FDM, which is about the asymptotical limit of a parametric variational problem. The main idea for proving the convergence of the LDRF of the spatial FDM is via the Γ-convergence of objective functions. This relies on the qualitative analysis of skeleton equations of the original equation and the numerical method. In order to overcome the difficulty that the drift coefficient is not one-sided Lipschitz continuous, we derive the equivalent characterization of the skeleton equation of the spatial FDM and the discrete interpolation inequality to obtain the uniform boundedness of the solution to the underlying skeleton equation. These play important roles in deriving the T-convergence of objective functions. 展开更多

This study explores free convective heat transfer in an electrically conducting nanofluid flow over a moving semi-infinite flat plate under the influence of an induced magnetic field and viscous dissipation. The velocity and magnetic field vectors are aligned at a distance from the plate. The Spectral Relaxation Method(SRM)is used to numerically solve the coupled nonlinear partial differential equations, analyzing the effects of the Eckert number on heat and mass transfer.Various nanofluids containing Cu,Ag,Al_(2)O_(3),and TiO_(2) nanoparticles are examined to assess how external magnetic fields influence fluid behavior.Key parameters, including the nanoparticle volume fraction ϕ,magnetic parameter M,magnetic Prandtl number Prm,and Eckert number Ec,are evaluated for their impact on velocity, induced magnetic field, and heat transfer. Results indicate that increasing the magnetic parameter reduces velocity and magnetic field components in alumina-water nanofluids, while a higher nanoparticle volume fraction enhances the thermal boundary layer.Greater viscous dissipation(Ec)increases temperature, and Al_(2)O_(3) nanofluids exhibit higher speeds than Cu,Ag,and TiO_(2) due to density differences.Silver-water nanofluids, with their higher density, move more slowly. The SRM results closely align with those from Maple, confirming the method’s accuracy. 展开更多

This paper deals with the problem of recreating horizontal alignments of existing railway lines. The main objective is to propose a simple method for automatically obtaining optimized recreated alignments located as close as possible to an existing one.Based on a previously defined geometric model, two different constrained optimization problems are formulated. The first problem uses only the information provided by a set of points representing the track centerline while the second one also considers additional data about the existing alignment. The proposed methodology consists of a two-stage process in which both problems are solved consecutively using numerical techniques. The main results obtained applying this methodology are presented to show its performance and to prove its practical usefulness:an academic example used to compare with other methods, and a case study of a railway section located in Parga(Spain)in which the geometry of its horizontal alignment is successfully recovered. 展开更多

Rational design of porous metal oxide films that serve as not only the scaffolds for light absorbers but also the transfer layer of photo generated charges is essential for fabricating highly efficient photoanodes for photoelectrochemical(PEC)hydrogen generation. In this work,w report a facile one-step pyrolysis method which can convert Zn-based MOF to porous ZnO(m-ZnO)with rough surface and abundant oxygen vacancies(O_(v)).When incorporating core-shell quantum dots(QDs)as the light absorbers, the obtained photoanodes(m-ZnO@QDs)achieved outstanding PEC performance for hydrogen generation, exhibiting 1.6 times and 5.8 times higher saturated photocurrent density(J_(sc))than thos of conventional TiO_(2)@QDs and ZnO@QDs photoanodes, respectively.Comprehensive optical and electrochemical measurements reveal tha the rough surface of m-ZnO can significantly improve the light-harvesting capacity of corresponding photoanodes through surface-enhanced light scattering. Moreover, the O_(v)in m-ZnO facilitate the interfacial transfer of photogenerated electrons. Our findings indicate that the MOF are valuable precursors for the preparation of porous films, offering a promising route to develop high-performance QDs-based PEC devices. 展开更多

Being a nonlinear operator, fractional derivatives can affect the enforcement of existence at any given time.As a result, the memory effect has an impact on all nonlinear processes modeled by fractional order differential equations(FODEs).The goal of this study is to increase the fractional model of the TB virus’s(FMTBV)accuracy.Stochastic solvers have never been used to solve FMTBV previously. The Bayesian regularized artificial(BRA)method and neural networks(NNs),often referred to as BRA-NNs,were used to solve the FMTBV model. Each scenario features five occurrences that each reflect a different order of derivatives, ranging from 0.8,0.85,0.9,0.95,and 1,as well as five potential rates for different parameters.Training data made up 90%of the data, testing data made up 5%,and validation data made up 5%of the data used to illustrate the FMTBV’s approximations. To verify that the BRA-NNs were correct, the generated simulations were described in the following solutions using the FOLotkaVolterra approach in MATLAB.Comprehensive Simulink results in terms of mean square error, error histogram, and regression analysis investigations further highlight the competence, dependability, and accuracy of the suggested BRA-NNs. 展开更多
