It is applied to solve the 3D nonlinear potential flow equa- tions with a free surface. The 3D irregular tank is mapped onto a fixed cubic tank through the proper coordinate transform schemes. The cubic tank is distributed by the staggered meshgrid, and the staggered meshgrid is used to denote the variables of the flow field. The predictor-corrector finite difference method is given to develop the difference equa- tions of the dynamic boundary equation and kinematic boundary equation. Experimental results show that, using the finite difference method of the predictor-corrector scheme, the numerical solutions agree well with the published results. The wave profiles of the standing wave with different amplitudes and wave lengths are studied. The numerical solutions are also analyzed and presented graphically.展开更多

A novel neural network model, named standard neural network model (SNNM), is introduced to provide a general framework for stability analysis of RNNs. Most of the existing RNNs can be transformed into SNNMs to be analyzed in a unified way. Applying Lyapunov stability theory method and S-Procedure technique, two useful criteria of robust exponential stability for the discrete-time SNNMs are derived. The conditions presented are formulated as linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) to be easily solved using existing efficient convex optimization techniques. An example is presented to demonstrate the transformation procedure and the effectiveness of the results.展开更多

The irregular tank is mapped onto a fixed square domain through proper mapping functions. A staggered mesh system is employed in a 2D tank to calculate the elevation of the transient fluid. A time-independent finite difference method, which is developed by Bang- fuh Chen, is used to solve the Euler equations for incompressible and inviscid fluids. The numerical results agree well with the analytic solutions and previously published results. The sloshing profiles of surge and heave motion with initial standing waves are presented. The results show very clear nonlinear and beating phenomena.展开更多

We are investigating the application of low-cost electrically conducting rubber sheets to force sensors, of which the biggest problem is its poor reproducibility. We have found that the deposition of aluminum by a vacuum evaporation method shows such an excellent characteristic that the sensor can be used in a wide range under 10.33 N/cm2. In this article, we investigated time response of the sensors and also studied how the radiation heating during the vacuum evaporation process for Al deposition affected their sensing property. We found that the radiation heating induces deterioration from the point of view of standard deviation of the output voltage of the sensors at a transient region. We convince that a low-temperature Al deposition method should be developed to form electrodes on the electrical conducting rubber sensors.展开更多

We constructed a time-based gene regulatory network of zebrafish cardiogenesis on the basis of a spatio-temporal neighborhood method. Through the network, specific regulatory pathways and order of gene expression during zebrafish cardiogenesis were obtained. By comparing the order with locations of these genes on chromosomes, we discovered that there exists a reversal phenomenon between the order and order of gene locations. The discovery provides an inherent rule to instruct exploration of gene regulatory relationships. Specifically, the discovery can help to predict if regulatory relationships between genes exist and contribute to evaluating the correctness of discovered gene regulatory relationships.展开更多
