As traditional erythrocytes viscoelastic analysis is mostly qualitative, the development of new quantitative methods capable of analyzing at the same time biological and mechanical aspects of the cells in flow, when changing from healthy controls to glucose incubated at different concentrations, is crucial for restricting the subjectivity in the study of the cell behaviour. On the other hand, it is important to appreciate the role of mathematics in the analysis of tissues and cells. Recent developed non linear mathematical methods are particularly fruitful when they are strongly correlated with cells sensitivity to initial conditions. An optic system called Erythrodeformeter has been developed and constructed in our laboratory, in order to evaluate the erythrocytes viscoelastic properties. To analyze the erythrocytes viscoelastic dynamics we used the technique of Time Delay Coordinates suggested by Takens, False Nearest Neighbours proposed by Abarbanel and co-workers, and the forecasting procedure proposed by Sugihara and May, the so called Correlation Coefficient. The results suggest that through this random walk analysis, apparent noise associated with deterministic chaos can be used not only to distinguish but also to characterize at the same time biological and mechanical aspects of the cells in flow, when changing from healthy controls to glucose incubated at different concentrations.展开更多

For that purpose, defining and managing recreational carrying capacity is considered as significant in ensuring ecological value’s and recreational satisfaction’s continuity. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the carrying capacity of Erzurum Urban Forest with respect to Level of Service (LOS) as a new management technique that focuses on service quality and visitor satisfaction. The data were obtained by self-administered questionnaire conducted with 166 visitors on weekends and holidays during summer season of the year 2014. Data were analyzed by dimensions/indicators of recreational satisfaction and socio-demographic characteristics with intent to identify tolerance range of visitors. The contribution and relative importance of each of the indicators to the overall satisfaction were analyzed by using Ordinal Logistic Model (OLM). The results indicated that the four indicators were at the greatest degree;“distance from picnic spot to toilets” and “quantity of children’s playground facilities” were decease of overall satisfaction while “distance from picnic spot to parking” and “level of shade at picnic spot” had a positive contribution to the overall satisfaction. The outputs from these analyses were used to calculate LOS. It was revealed that the level of service (0.40) in Erzurum Urban Forest was below the moderate level. Planning and managing strategies for optimizing the LOS were developed and discussed by considering these results.展开更多

It is noteworthy that the coffee from the species Coffea canephora PIERRE has a denser sensorial profile, is less sweet, less acidic and with strong pronunciation of the body at the time of tasting. This study has unprecedentedly applied the use of starter cultures (yeast) to optimize and modify the metabolic pathways and consequently the sensorial quality perceived by Q-graders. The experiments were conducted in a randomized block design with five replicates, in the 3 × 4 factorial scheme, with three fermentation times—24, 48 and 72 hours and four wet processing tests—Washed, Yeast fermentation, Fully washed without yeast and Fully washed with yeast. The sensorial results indicate a new perspective for the application of wet processing with starter cultures for Conilon coffee. They indicate gains in sensory scale, opening a new phase of studies on spontaneous and induced fermentation for Conilon coffee in Brazil and worldwide.展开更多

In total, 56 Winstar rats were equally divided into 4 groups. In control group, calvarial bone defect was created in 14 rats. For second group, 8 mm calvarial bone defect with ozone treatment was applied in 14 rats. For third group, an alloplastic bone graft was implanted on 8 mm calvarial bone defect. In fourth group, alloplastic bone graft was inserted in calvarial defect and ozone was treated additionally. Seven of the rats were sacrificed at the end of 4th week and the remaining 7 were sacrificed at the end of 8th week of experiment. In the study, the periosteal flaps were removed with a thin periosteal elevator and averagely 0.8 cm diameter-circular full bone defect was created with a specially designed trephine drill. The bone from the calvarial region was fixed in 10% formalin solution. After decalcification, bones were taken for routine paraffin blocking. Sections were stained with Hematoxylin-Eosin and Masson Trichrome. Histopathological findings of 4th and 8th weeks rats showed that best result for new bone formation was observed in graft + ozone treatment. It is concluded that ozone treatment increases the hemostasis in graft region, induces angiogenesis, promotes cell proliferation by preventing infiltration, induces matrix formation by influencing osteoblastic activity and has a positive effect in osteogenesis.展开更多

In MANET, routing attacks try to disrupt the functions of routing protocol by intentionally or unintentionally dropping packets or propagating faked routing messages. However, due to their computation requirements, the prevention mechanisms are not powerful enough to secure MANET. In this paper, we propose a distributed and cooperative scheme using statistical methods to detect routing attacks in MANETs. Our scheme uses both direct and indirect observations to characterize the behaviors of both neighboring and remote nodes. Simple threshold and Grubb’s Test are utilized to propose our new detection methods. The scheme includes innovative methods to compute our proposed measures, Maximum Accusation Number (MAN) and Accusation Number (AN), which are used to make decision about node’s behavior. Experimental results show that our scheme performs well in detecting anomalous events in routing functions.展开更多

Methods: Over the 18-month period, a total of 323 patients referred to three hospitals in Babol (north of Iran) were enrolled in this cross-sectional study. H. pylori status (rapid urease test), endoscopic findings in the patients, personal habits (smoking or alcohol intake) and administration of drugs, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) were analyzed using standard Chi-square test and multinomial logistic regression analysis. Results: Results showed that acute gastric ulcer patients had a significant association with alcohol (P=0.001, OR=6.183), opium (P=0.022, OR=2.823), smoking (P=0.016, OR=2.579) and NSAIDs (P=0.046, OR=2.071). However, patients with in acute duodenal ulcer have a significant association with opium (P=0.023, OR=2.326) and alcohol (P=0.003, OR=3.888). As well as, gastric cancer had significant association with alcohol (P<0.05, OR=6.937), smoking (P=0.012, OR=2.738), family history (P=0.005, OR=4.380) and gender (P≤0.05, OR=5.103). Conclusions: Current investigation shows that H. pylori infection, alcoholism, male gender, age and family history have an additive impact on the incidence of gastric cancer. In addition, alcoholism, opium usage, NSAIDs and family history have more impact on the incidence of acute gastric ulcer and acute duodenal ulcer in patients.展开更多

文摘BACKGROUND Hereditary non-polyposis colon cancer is a dominantly inherited syndrome of colorectal cancer(CRC),with heightened risk for younger population.Previous studies link its susceptibility to the DNA sequence polymorphism along with Amsterdam and Bethesda criteria. However, those fail in term of applicability.AIM To determine a clear cut-off of MSH2 gene expression for CRC heredity grouping factor.Further, the study also aims to examine the association of risk factors to the CRC heredity.METHODS The cross-sectional study observed 71 respondents from May 2018 to December 2019 in determining the CRC hereditary status through MSH2 mRNA expression using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and the disease’s risk factors.Data were analyzed through Chi-Square,Fischer exact,t-test,Mann-Whitney,and multiple logistics.RESULTS There are significant differences of MSH2 within CRC group among tissue and blood;yet, negative for significance between groups.Through the blood gene expression fifth percentile, the hereditary CRC cut-off is 11059 fc,dividing the 40 CRC respondents to 32.5%with hereditary CRC.Significant risk factors include age, family history, and staging.Nonetheless, after multivariate control, age is just a confounder.Further, the study develops a probability equation with area under the curve 82.2%.CONCLUSION Numerous factors have significant relations to heredity of CRC patients. However, true important factors are staging and family history, while age and others are confounders. The study also established a definite cut-off point for heredity CRC based on mRNA MSH2 expression,11059 fc.These findings shall act as concrete foundations on further risk factors and/or genetical CRC future studies.
文摘Urban forests are confronted with high using pressure because of the increasing demand for recreation and accessibility of these settings. Planning and managing strategies for optimizing the LOS were developed and discussed by considering these results.
文摘Conilon coffee represents almost 20% of all coffee production in the Brazilian territory;however, it is inexpressive in relation to the sensory quality when compared to Arabica coffee. They indicate gains in sensory scale, opening a new phase of studies on spontaneous and induced fermentation for Conilon coffee in Brazil and worldwide.
文摘The Western tragopan(Tragopan melanocephalus)is recorded in the IUCN Red List of 2017 as a vulnerable bird species in Pakistan. This study provides valuable information for the conservation of Western tragopan, which is a globally threatened avian flagship species in Pakistan. This study was conducted to investigate and resolve the conservation challenges surrounding the species in two major habitat zones-Salkhala Game Reserve and Machiara National Park. The study was implemented in May-June 2020 for population density using call count data. Also, questionnaire was used for local residents’perceptions and habitat suitability modeling map was generated using the MaxEnt model based on previously recorded occurrence points as well as recorded in the survey.A total of 26 western Tragopans were identified by call count during the sampling period. Moreover, about 77.3%cited Western Tragopan they more likely to hunt while the remaining 22.6%locals recorded other pheasant.About 45.3%of this hunting for fun but only 22%for economic values and only 3%of people consider hunting as a part of their culture. Results of modeling habitat suitability of the Western tragopan showed that the species suitable habitats are small and patchy in Pakistan. We found that the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI)with 40.6 percent contribution was the most important variable in shaping the species distribution. Our model identified some new suitable patches which can be the target of future field monitoring for finding new populations of the species and future conservation planning.
文摘The purpose of this study was to investigate osteogenesis promoted by osteoconductive properties of bone grafting materials and the histopathological effects of ozone on osteogenesis. It is concluded that ozone treatment increases the hemostasis in graft region, induces angiogenesis, promotes cell proliferation by preventing infiltration, induces matrix formation by influencing osteoblastic activity and has a positive effect in osteogenesis.
文摘Due to their unique characteristics, such as the dynamic changing topology, the absence of central management, the cooperative routing mechanisms, and the resources constraints, Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are relatively vulnerable to both active and passive attacks. Experimental results show that our scheme performs well in detecting anomalous events in routing functions.
文摘BACKGROUND Lactulose is approved for the symptomatic treatment of constipation,a gastrointestinal(GI)complication common in individuals with diabetes.Lactulose products contain carbohydrate impurities(e.g.,lactose,fructose,galactose),which occur during the lactulose manufacturing process. These impurities may affect the blood glucose levels of individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)using lactulose for the treatment of mild constipation.A previous study in healthy subjects revealed no increase in blood glucose levels after oral lactulose intake. However,it is still unclear whether the intake of lactulose increases blood glucose levels in individuals with diabetes.AIM To evaluate the blood glucose profile after oral lactulose intake in mildly constipated,non-insulin-dependent subjects with T2DM in an outpatient setting.METHODS This prospective,double-blind,randomized,controlled,single-center trial was conducted at the Clinical Research Center at the Medical University of Graz,Austria,in 24 adult Caucasian mildly constipated,non-insulin-dependent subjects with T2DM.Eligible subjects were randomized and assigned to one of six treatment sequences, each consisting of four treatments stratified by sex using an incomplete block design.Subjects received a single dose of 20 g or 30 g lactulose(crystal and liquid formulation),water as negative control or 30 g glucose as positive control.Capillary blood glucose concentrations were measured over a period of 180 min post dose. The primary endpoint was the baseline-corrected area under the curve of blood glucose concentrations over the complete assessment period[AUC_(baseline_c(0-180 min))].Quantitative comparisons were performed for both lactulose doses and formulations vs water for the equal lactulose dose vs glucose,as well as for liquid lactulose vs crystal lactulose.Safety parameters included GI tolerability, which was assessed at 180 min and 24 h post dose, and adverse events occurring up to 24 h post dose.In 24 randomized and analyzed subjects blood glucose concentration-time curves after intake of 20 g and 30 g lactulose were almost identical to those after water intake for both lactulose formulations despite the different amounts of carbohydrate impurities(≤3.0%for crystals and approx.30%for liquid). The primary endpoint[AUC_(baseline_c(0-180 min))]was not significantly different between lactulose and water regardless of lactulose dose and formulation. Also with regard to all secondary endpoints lactulose formulations showed comparable results to water with one exception concerning maximum glucose level.A minor increase in maximum blood glucose was observed after the 30 g dose, liquid lactulose,in comparison to water with a mean treatment difference of 0.63 mmol/L(95%confidence intervals:0.19,1.07).Intake of 30 g glucose significantly increased all blood glucose endpoints vs 30 g liquid and crystal lactulose, respectively(all P<0.0001).No differences in blood glucose response were observed between the different lactulose formulations. As expected, lactulose increased the number of bowel movements and was generally well tolerated.Subjects experienced only mild to moderate GI symptoms due to the laxative action of lactulose.CONCLUSION Blood glucose AUC_(baseline_c(0-180 min))levels in mildly constipated,non-insulin dependent subjects with T2DM are not affected by the carbohydrate impurities contained in 20 g and 30 g crystal or liquid lactulose formulations.
文摘A fair electronic cash system is a system that allows customers to make payments anonymously. Furthermore the trusted third party can revoke the anonymity when the customers did illegal transactions. In this paper, a new fair electronic cash system based on group signature scheme by using elliptic curve cryptography is proposed, which satisfies properties of secure group signature scheme (correctness, unforgeability, etc). Moreover, our electronic cash contains group members (users, merchants and banks) and trusted third party which is acted by central bank as group manager.
文摘Objective: To assess the relation between acute gastrointestinal disease and Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infections. In addition, alcoholism, opium usage, NSAIDs and family history have more impact on the incidence of acute gastric ulcer and acute duodenal ulcer in patients.
