Combining theoretical and experimental modal analyses on self-excited vibration induced by dry friction between two elastic structures, we can explain the high-order sell-excited vibration phenomenon in which water droplets spurt from fourteen or twelve areas of the Chinese culture relic dragon washbasin when it is rubbed with hands, and clarify the mechanism of the singular high-order self-excited vibration. The experimental modes and the practical measured results are presented for a special dragon washbasin. The theoretical results agree well with the experimental ones. 展开更多

Locomotion and manipulation optimization is essential for the performance of tetrahedron-based mobile mechanism. Most of current optimization methods are constrained to the continuous actuated system with limited degree of freedom(DOF), which is infeasible to the optimization of binary control multi-DOF system. A novel optimization method using for the locomotion and manipulation of an 18 DOFs tetrahedron-based mechanism called 5-TET is proposed. The optimization objective is to realize the required locomotion by executing the least number of struts.Binary control strategy is adopted, and forward kinematic and tipping dynamic analyses are performed, respectively.Based on a developed genetic algorithm(GA), the optimal number of alternative struts between two adjacent steps is obtained as 5. Finally, a potential manipulation function is proposed, and the energy consumption comparison between optimal 5-TET and the traditional wheeled robot is carried out. The presented locomotion optimization and manipulation planning enrich the research of tetrahedron-based mechanisms and provide the instruction to the successive locomotion and operation planning of multi-DOF mechanisms. 展开更多

The development of new robot structures, in particular of parallel kinematic machines(PKM), is widely systematized by different structure synthesis methods. Recent research increasingly focuses on PKM with less than six degrees of freedom(DOF). However, an overall comparison and evaluation of these structures is missing. In order to compare symmetrical PKM with three translational DOF, different evaluation criteria are used. Workspace, maximum actuation forces and velocities, power, actuator stiffness, accuracy and transmission behavior are taken into account to investigate strengths and weaknesses of the PKMs. A selection scheme based on possible configurations of translational PKM including different frame configurations is presented. Moreover, an optimization method based on a genetic algorithm is described to determine the geometric parameters of the selected PKM for an exemplary load case and a prescribed workspace. The values of the mentioned criteria are determined for all considered PKM with respect to certain boundary conditions. The distribution and spreading of these values within the prescribed workspace is presented by using box plots for each criterion. Thereby, the performance characteristics of the different structures can be compared directly. The results show that there is no "best" PKM. Further inquiries such as dynamic or stiffness analysis are necessary to extend the comparison and to finally select a PKM. 展开更多

Within the framework of the macroscopic dielectric continuum model and Loudon's uniaxial crystal model, the phonon modes of a wurtzite/zinc-blende one-dimensional (1D) cylindrical nanowire (NW) are derived and studied. The analytical phonon states of phonon modes are given. It is found that there exist two types of polar phonon modes, i.e. interface optical (IO) phonon modes and the quasi-confined (QC) phonon modes existing in 1D wurtzite/zinc-blende NWs. Via the standard procedure of field quantization, the Fr6hlich electron-phonon interaction Hamiltonians are obtained. Numerical calculations of dispersive behavior of these phonon modes on a wurtzite/zinc-blende ZnO/MgO NW are performed. The frequency ranges of the IO and QC phonon modes of the ZnO/MgO NWs are analyzed and discussed. It is found that the IO modes only exist in one frequency range, while QC modes may appear in three frequency ranges. The dispersive properties of the IO and QC modes on the free wave-number kz and the azimuthal quantum number m are discussed. The analytical Hamiltonians of electron-phonon interaction obtained here are quite useful for further investigating phonon influence on optoelectronics properties of wurtzite/zinc-blende 1D NW structures. 展开更多

Based on the density matrix approach and iterative procedure, a detailed procedure for the calculation of the linear and nonlinear intersubband optical absorption coefficients is given in wurtzite GaN-based coupling quantum wells (CQWs). The simple analytical formulas for electronic eigenstates and the linear and nonlinear optical absorption coefficients in the systems are also deduced. Numerical result on a typical A1GaN/GaN CQW shows that, the linear and nonlinear optical absorption coefficients sensitively depend on the structural parameters of the CQW system as well as the incident optics beam intensity. 展开更多

According to the basic emotional theory, the artificial emotional model based on the finite state machine(FSM) was presented. In finite state machine model of emotion, the emotional space included the basic emotional space and the multiple emotional spaces. The emotion-switching diagram was defined and transition fimction was developed using Markov chain and linear interpolation algorithm. The simulation model was built using Stateflow toolbox and Simulink toolbox based on the Matlab platform. And the model included three subsystems: the input one, the emotion one and the behavior one. In the emotional subsystem, the responses of different personalities to the external stimuli were described by defining personal space. This model takes states from an emotional space and updates its state depending on its current state and a state of its input (also a state-emotion). The simulation model realizes the process of switching the emotion from the neutral state to other basic emotions. The simulation result is proved to correspond to emotion-switching law of human beings. 展开更多

It is widely accepted that a robust and efficient method to compute the linear spatial amplified rate ought to be developed in three-dimensional (3D) boundary layers to predict the transition with the e^N method, especially when the boundary layer varies significantly in the spanwise direction. The 3D-linear parabolized stability equation (3D- LPSE) approach, a 3D extension of the two-dimensional LPSE (2D-LPSE), is developed with a plane-marching procedure for investigating the instability of a 3D boundary layer with a significant spanwise variation. The method is suitable for a full Mach number region, and is validated by computing the unstable modes in 2D and 3D boundary layers, in both global and local instability problems. The predictions are in better agreement with the ones of the direct numerical simulation (DNS) rather than a 2D-eigenvalue problem (EVP) procedure. These results suggest that the plane-marching 3D-LPSE approach is a robust, efficient, and accurate choice for the local and global instability analysis in 2D and 3D boundary layers for all free-stream Mach numbers. 展开更多

By employing the dielectric continuum model and Loudon's uniaxial crystal model, the interface optical (IO) phonon modes in a freestanding quasi-one-dimensional (Q1D) wurtzite rectangular quantum wire are derived and analyzed. Numerical calculation on a freestanding wurtzite GaN quantum wire is performed. The resulte reveal that the dispersion frequencies of IO modes sensitively depend on the geometric structures of the Q1D wurtzite rectangular quantum wires, the free wave-number kz in z-direction and the dielectric constant of the nonpolar matrix. The degenerating behavior of the IO modes in Q1D wurtzite rectangular quantum wire has been clearly observed in the case of small wave-number kz and Iarge ratio of length to width of the rectangular crossing profile. The limited frequency behaviors of IO modes have been analyzed deeply, and detailed comparisons with those in wurtzite planar quantum wells and cylindrical quantum wires are also done. The present theories can be looked on as a generalization of that in isotropic rectangular quantum wires, and it can naturally reduce to the case of Q1D isotropic quantum wires once the anisotropy of the wurtzite material is ignored. 展开更多

The polar interface optical (IO) and surface optical (SO) phonon modes and the corresponding Froehlich electron phonon-interaction Hamiltonian in a freestanding multi-layer wurtzite cylindrical quantum wire (QWR) are derived and studied by employing the transfer matrix method in the dielectric continuum approximation and Loudon's uniaxial crystal model. A numerical calculation of a freestanding wurtzite GaN/AlN QWR is performed. The results reveal that for a relatively large azimuthal quantum number m or wave-number kz in the free z-direction, there exist two branches of IO phonon modes localized at the interface, and only one branch of SO mode localized at the surface in the system. The degenerating behaviours of the IO and SO phonon modes in the wurtzite QWR have also been clearly observed for a small kz or m. The limiting frequency properties of the IO and SO modes for large kz and m have been explained reasonably from the mathematical and physical viewpoints. The calculations of electron-phonon coupling functions show that the high-frequency IO phonon branch and SO mode play a more important role in the electron phonon interaction. 展开更多

The interface-optical-propagating (IO-PR) mixing phonon modes of a quasi-zero-dimensional (QOD) wurtzite cylindrical quantum dot (QD) structure are derived and studied by employing the macroscopic dielectric continuum model. The analytical phonon states of IO-PR mixing modes are given. It is found that there are two types of IO-PR mixing phonon modes, i.e. p-IO//z-PR mixing modes and the z-IO//p-PR mixing modes existing in QOD wurtzite QDs. And each IO-PR mixing modes also have symmetrical and antisymmetrieal forms. Via a standard procedure of field quantization, the Frohlich Hamiltonians of electron-(IO-PR) mixing phonons interaction are obtained. Numerical calculations on a wurtzite GaN cylindrical QD are performed. The results reveal that both the radial-direction size and the axial-direction size as well as the dielectric matrix have great influence on the dispersive frequencies of the IO-PR mixing phonon modes. The limiting features of dispersive curves of these phonon modes are discussed in depth. The phonon modes "reducing" behavior of wurtzite quantum confined systems has been observed obviously in the structures. Moreover, the degenerating behaviors of the IO-PR mixing phonon modes in wurtzite QOD QDs to the IO modes and PR modes in wurtzite Q2D QW and QID QWR systems are analyzed deeply from both of the viewpoints of physics and mathematics. 展开更多

The properties of polar optical phonon vibrations in a quasi-zero- dimensional (QOD) anisotropic wurtzite cylindrical quantum dot (QD) are analyzed based on the dielectric continuum model and Loudon's uniaxial crystal model. The analytical electrostatic potentials of the phonon vibrations in the systems are deduced and solved exactly. The result shows that there exist four types of polar mixing optical phonon modes in the QOD wurtzite cylindrical QD systems. The dispersive equations and electron-phonon coupling function for the quasi-confined-half-space (QC-HS) mixing modes are derived and discussed. It is found that once the radius or the height of the QD approach infinity, the dispersive equations of the QC-HS mixing modes in the QOD cylindrical QD can naturally reduce to those of the QC and HS modes in Q2D QWs or Q1D QWWs systems. This has been analyzed reasonably from both of physicM and mathematical viewpoints. 展开更多

Within the framework of the dielectric continuum model and Loudon 's uniaxial crystal model, the properties of frequency dispersion of the propagating (PR) optical phonon modes and the coupling functions of electron-PR phonons interaction in an asymmetrical wurtzite quantum well (QW) are deduced and analyzed via the method of electrostatic potential expanding. Numerical calculation on an asymmetrical Alo.25Gao.75N/GaN/Alo.15Gao.ssN wurtzite QW were performed. The results reveal that there are infinite branches of PR phonon modes in the systems. The behaviors of frequency forbidden of PR modes in the asymmetric QWs have been clearly observed. The mathematical and physical origins for these features have been analyzed in depth. The PR optical phonon branches have been distinguished and labelled reasonably in terms of the oscillating properties of the PR modes in the well-layer material. Moreover, the amplitudes and frequency properties of the electron-PR modes coupling functions in the barrier and well materials have also been analyzed from both of the mathematical and physical viewpoints. 展开更多
