This paper presents the partial results of a project in progress that aims to improve the teaching and learning of Graphic Geometry modules taught in Engineering and Civil Engineering courses at the Federal University of Pernambuco through the development of education methodologies and content integration of these disciplines using computational technologies. This study covers and analyzes the contents of Tridimensional Graphic Geometry, Technical Drawing 3 and Descriptive Geometry in the BSc course in Civil Engineering, in order to create an integrated assessment model across these disciplines from the use of specific computer graphic softwares. It is proposed to use computer graphic for: (i) concept formation, (ii) completing and/or reviewing the content, (iii) creation of a database with virtual geometric models and their applications in Engineering and for the studies of their representations, geometric properties, etc., providing digital images of everyday forms and objects. In order to begin the diagnosis of the current situation, we gave an open questionnaire to 65 students from the 16 groups of three-dimensional graphical geometry, 20 students from the two courses in Technical Drawing 3 and 35 students from the three Descriptive Geometry classes. The analysis of the data suggests that students better understand the two-dimensional representations of three-dimensional models through their modeling with the computer graphics software used, and the association of abstract concepts with concrete content. From the analysis of the data we can verify that when our students enter the foundation Engineering courses, the main difficulty in the disciplines of drawing is the three-dimensional visualization. The hypothesis is that the student will better understand the two-dimensional representations of three-dimensional models through their modeling with the computer graphic software used and the association of abstract concepts with concrete content. 展开更多

The forthcoming European Higher Education Area has implied an important change in the teaching/learning process:it is necessary to get students more involved as well as to promote their independence and active participation.Furthermore,Information and Communication Technology is progressively including greater spaces in human beings’life,as economics, arts, engineering and education, among others fields. Therefore,a web tool, based on a content management system, has been developed to teach the Power Electronics subject. Moreover, the use of these multimedia tools makes it possible to encourage students’independence. This developed educational software is necessary as an important resource in the students’teaching/learning process. Therefore, the importance of evaluation models increases in as much as the application of these instruments allows its effective evaluation. It offers a greater guarantee of its use in these environments from the students’point of view.An evaluation process,by means of several surveys for students and lecturers,is used in order to evaluate the quality of these multimedia interactive tools. The results demonstrate that the use of this web tool increases students’motivation significantly. 展开更多

In recent years, human health and user wellbeing have become more important in contemporary society and urban quality. This has been highlighted by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the world.Generating open-air urban spaces constitutes an opportunity to design walkable areas and paths that can produce direct positive effects on environmental health and indirect consequences on“lifestyles”.This design vision can be implemented within small localities where there are still important continuities and long-term relationships between the human scale of public spaces and the sense of place related to historic/traditional infrastructural pathways. The interest of various international research and of the WHO(World Health Organization)itself extends the subject of public health to the relationship of the individual with the environment, and with the rest of the social interactions, considering the latter a factor that can affect the reduction of illnesses. In order to act in the direction of improving people’s health,to determine the conditions for a life free of diseases and disabilities, and to generate cities and common spaces of use capable of encouraging the adoption of healthy and active lifestyles by people of all ages, the research makes a comparison between possible interventions in Italy and Spain. 展开更多

The municipality of Ronda,in Spain, has a rich architectural heritage, treasured by its inhabitants over the centuries.Among its numerous buildings of great heritage value, one stands out:the monumental bridge that rises above the precipice of the plateau on which this city sits.It is known as the New Bridge. This unique 18th-century engineering work favoured the expansion and growth of Ronda's population, also affecting its urban development.Currently,it continues to serve as a link between the original city centre and its expansion areas beyond the walls. This research addresses the reasons why this bridge was constructed,as well as the circumstances that marked its different construction phases. In addition, different hypotheses are put forward on how its physiognomy might have been,in the case that each of the different projects proposed for the bridge had been carried out in its entirety. All of this has led to the conclusion that the morphology of this bridge was not the result of a single design, but rather responds to the various modifications made during its construction. 展开更多
