The SFCL is considered to introduce a resistance into the three-phase circuits when faults occur. Based on the power-angle curves for different short-circuit conditions of the single-line to ground, double-line to ground and line to line short-circuit faults, the influences of the SFCLs on transient stability are analyzed in detail. The time-domain simulation of transient stability is carried out to verify the analytical results.展开更多

Many planning models of the DG integrated distribution system have been proposed. These models can choose the optimization locations, capacities and technologies of DG with the objective function minimizing power loss, investment costs or total life cycle costs of the investment project. However, capacity of DG that uses renewable energy resources is natural variability according to primary energy. This study proposed a planning model of optimized distribution system that integrates DG in the competitive electricity market. Model can determine equipment sizing and timeframe requiring for upgrading equipment of distribution system as well as select DG technologies with power variable constraints of DG. The objective function is minimizing total life cycle cost of the investment project. The proposed model is calculated and tested for a 48-bus radial distribution system in the GAMS programming language.展开更多

The regulator investment forecasted defines the maximum value of Yearly Allowed Revenue and the bidder that offers the lowest YAR value wins the auction. The first type of analysis considers project cost, location, execution deadline, transmission line extension and type of all actions from 1999 to 2015, totalling about 3.361 billion USD. It was not found any correlation of those variables and the result of the actions. The second analysis compared the equipment and the additional costs breakdown of the regulator investment forecast with the real investment in projects from 2009 to 2013 and it rarely surpasses 5%. Suggestions are proposed based on the analysis.展开更多

The Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) algorithm is applied to a modified RBTS Bus 2 distribution network. The network includes three types of distributed energy resources, namely, solar photovoltaic (PV), wind turbine (WT), and diesel turbine generator (DTG). These distributed generators contribute to supply part of the load during grid-connected mode, but supply 100% of the load in the islanded μ grid mode. A storage system is included to decrease the peak load since the peak of the output power of the PV’s and the peak load do not match time wise in most load profiles. The impact of implementing renewable distributed generation, storage systems, and conventional generation on the reliability of distribution network is studied. This study shows that the penetration of distributed generations can improve the reliability indices of the distribution network.展开更多

Since the problem to be solved does not have a defined analytic solution, a Stochastic Optimization Algorithm was implemented to reach an optimal solution to the set of equations, inputs and proposed scenarios. A case study was developed based on the Paraná River Basin and the results shows that the model can operate in a variety of different operational patterns, making feasible the evaluation of different hydrological and wind scenarios. Given the Model support, it is easy to assume different PSP storage and generation capacities, allowing the comparison between the efficiency improvement of a conventional Pumped-Storage and a Season-al-Pumped-Storage in the same scenario. The study concludes that a PSP can effectively reduce the intermittency of wind and solar sources and contribute to the optimization of the Brazilian electricity sector.展开更多

During the islanded mode of operation, the analysed microgrid can be simultaneously fed by a diesel generator, a 1 MW wind power turbine, a small solar system and a 1 MW hydroelectric scheme. The operating voltage of the microgrid is 2.4 kV. During a fault in the system, the overvoltages normally occur in two remarkable instants. The first one occurs at the beginning of the fault itself. The second one occurs at the instant when the fault is cleared. The major concern here is the overvoltage during the fault period. Due to the travelling wave effect along cables and overhead lines composing the microgrid system, these overvoltages can be amplified, thus jeopardizing the insulation level of the microgrid transmission system and related equipment. Much of the work available now is dedicated to overvoltages present in high-voltage systems leaving a gap for the study and behaviour on low voltage microgrid systems. The overvoltage stress is characterized by the maximum low-frequency, short-duration (crest value) of the overvoltage. Both cables and overhead lines that constitute the microgrid transmission system are characterized by their R-L-C parameters. The simulations of the microgrid system are conducted using the ATP program. According to the international ANSI and IEEE standards, the minimum BIL (Basic Impulse Insulation Level) and BSL (Basic Impulse Switching Level) for the 2.4 kV voltage level are 20 kV and 10 kV, respectively;thus, care should be taken so that the healthy phases upon which commonly appear such overvoltages are not exceeded in their insulation level.展开更多

A microgrid overload can occur due to various reasons ranging from poor load schedule, inadequate switching of circuits within the microgrid, outage of one or more generators inside the microgrid, illegal load connections by some low voltage consumers, etc. It was observed that among the main factors that determine the survival of the microgrid during its transition from the grid connected mode to the islanded mode of operation are the size and type of the load connected (passive or dynamic load) as well as the length of time during which the unexpected load is connected. Models of a speed and voltage regulators of a diesel generator, and important for coping with the overload conditions are provided in the paper. It is shown and proved that the errors in energy measurements depend on the design and the algorithms used in electricity meters. There are three main types of metering devises having different principles: inductive (electro-mechanical), elec-tronic static, and digital electronic (microprocessor). Each of these types has its measuring features. Some devices take into account all the harmonic distortions and the constant component which occur in the network while others measure the power and energy values of the fundamental harmonic only. Such traits lead to the discrepancies in the readings of commercial electric energy meters of different types. Hence, the violations in the measurement system unity occur, and a significant error can be observed in the balance of transmitted/consumed electric energy.展开更多

文摘Owing to the significant number of hybrid generation systems(HGSs)containing various energy sources,coordina-tion between these sources plays a vital role in preserving frequency stability. In this paper,an adaptive coordination control strategy for renewable energy sources(RESs),an aqua electrolyzer(AE)for hydrogen production, and a fuel cell(FC)-based energy storage system(ESS)is proposed to enhance the frequency stability of an HGS.In the proposed system, the excess energy from RESs is used to power electrolysis via an AE for hydrogen energy storage in FCs.The proposed method is based on a proportional-integral(Pl)controller,which is optimally designed using a grey wolf optimization(GWO)algorithm to estimate the surplus energy from RESs(ie,a proportion of total power generation of RESs:Kn).The studied HGS contains various types of generation systems including a diesel generator, wind tur-bines,photovoltaic(PV)systems,AE with FCs,and ESSs(e.g.,battery and flywheel). The proposed method varies Kn with varying frequency deviation values to obtain the best benefits from RESs,while damping the frequency fluc-tuations.The proposed method is validated by considering different loading conditions and comparing with other existing studies that consider Kn as a constant value. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method, which changes Kn value and subsequently stores the power extracted from the RESs in hydrogen energy storage according to frequency deviation changes, performs better than those that use constant Kn.The statistical analysis for frequency deviation of HGS with the proposed method has the best values and achieves large improvements for minimum, maximum, difference between maximum and minimum, mean, and standard deviation compared to the existing method.
文摘The modern travelling wave based fault location principles for transmission lines are analyzed. In order to apply the travelling wave principles to HVDC transmission lines, the special technical problems are studied.Based on this,a fault locating system for HVDC transmission lines is developed. The system can support modern double ended and single ended travelling wave princi- ples simultaneously, and it is composed of three different parts:travelling wave data acquisition and processing system, communication network and PC based master station. In the system, the fault generated transients are induced from the ground leads of the over-voltage suppression capacitors of an HVDC line through specially developed travelling wave couplers. The system was applied to 500 kV Gezhouba-Nanqiao(Shanghai)HVDC transmission line in China. Some field operation experiences are summarized, showing that the system has very high reliability and accuracy, and the maximum location error is about 3 km(not more than 0.3%of the total line length). Obviously, the application of the system is successful, and the fault location problem has finally been solved completely since the line operation.
文摘This paper deals with the errors of electric energy metering devices as a result of distortions in the shape of the curves of voltage and current load. Hence, the violations in the measurement system unity occur, and a significant error can be observed in the balance of transmitted/consumed electric energy.
