Relative preferences of 90 images of forest stands, photos and virtual reality images were investigated by the intemet to develop a quantitative model for estimating scenic beauty preferences at the stand level, The relative priority values obtained from the questionnaire of a total of 259 judges were analyzed using regression methods for pairwise comparisons. Two models were developed based on two different groups of stands. Both models indicate that the priority of a forest stand increases with an augment in the number of bushes and trees, and also with the mean diameter of trees. On the other hand, the priority is low with large number of pines and small trees. Stands represented by photos receive better priority values than those represented by virtual reality images. When the background of the judges (gender, country or occupation) was included into the model as additional predictors, no significant improvements are achieved. 展开更多

AIM:To investigate the usefulness of a novel thallium scan shunt index for assessing portosystemic shuntrelated cirrhotic complications.METHODS:We enrolled 209 chronic hepatitis B-related cirrhosis patients.After rectal thallium instillation,radioactive isotope activity in the heart and liver was measured.The ratio of radiation uptake between the heart and the liver was calculated(the shunt index).This value indicates the degree of portosystemic circulation shunting.Blood tests,serum biochemistry tests,abdominal ultrasonography,gastroscopy and examination of clinical features such as the occurrence of varices,bleeding and hepatic encephalopathy were performed.Multivariate analysis was used to identify independent risk factors for complications.We compared the cumulative incidence rates of complications during the follow-up period.RESULTS:The thallium scan shunt index was significantly higher in the decompensated liver cirrhosis group than in the compensated liver cirrhosis group(0.91±0.39 vs 0.39±0.32,P<0.001).It was also higher in the varices group,the hepatic encephalopathy group,and the variceal bleeding group than in the control group(P<0.001).Multivariate analysis showed that the index was an independent risk factor for predicting decompensated liver cirrhosis.When the cut-off value was 0.75,the shunt index had a sensitivity of 82.6%,a specificity of 84%,a positive predictive value of 61.5%,and a negative predictive value of 94.4%in diagnosing decompensated cirrhosis.When the shunt index was greater than 0.75,there was a significant increase in the number of decompensated events.CONCLUSION:The thallium shunt index is a good predictor of cirrhosis-related complications. 展开更多

The growth of geo-technologies and the development of methods for spatial data collection have resulted in large spatial data repositories that require techniques for spatial information extraction, in order to transform raw data into useful previously unknown information. However, due to the high complexity of spatial data mining, the need for spatial relationship comprehension and its characteristics, efforts have been directed towards improving algorithms in order to provide an increase of performance and quality of results. Likewise, several issues have been addressed to spatial data mining, including environmental management, which is the focus of this paper. The main original contribution of this work is the demonstration of spatial data mining using a novel algorithm with a multi-relational approach that was applied to a database related to water resource from a certain region of S^o Paulo State, Brazil, and the discussion about obtained results. Some characteristics involving the location of water resources and the profile of who is administering the water exploration were discovered and discussed. 展开更多

The Internet of Things(IoT)has been widely adopted in various domains including smart cities,healthcare,smart factories,etc.In the last few years,the fitness industry has been reshaped by the introduction of smart fitness solutions for individuals as well as fitness gyms.The IoT fitness devices collect trainee data that is being used for various decision-making.However,it will face numerous security and privacy issues towards its realization.This work focuses on IoT security,especially DoS/DDoS attacks.In this paper,we have proposed a novel blockchain-enabled protocol(BEP)that uses the notion of a self-exposing node(SEN)approach for securing fitness IoT applications.The blockchain and SDN architectures are employed to enhance IoT security by a highly preventive security monitoring,analysis and response system.The proposed approach helps in detecting the DoS/DDoS attacks on the IoT fitness system and then mitigating the attacks.The BEP is used for handling Blockchain-related activities and SEN could be a sensor or actuator node within the fitness IoT system.SEN provides information about the inbound and outbound traffic to the BEP which is used to analyze the DoS/DDoS attacks on the fitness IoT system.The SENcalculates the inbound and outbound traffic features’entropies and transmits them to the Blockchain in the form of transaction blocks.The BEP picks the whole mined blocks’transactions and transfers them to the SDN controller node.The controller node correlates the entropies data of SENs and decides about the DoS or DDoS attack.So,there are two decision points,one is SEN,and another is the controller.To evaluate the performance of our proposed system,several experiments are performed and results concerning the entropy values and attack detection rate are obtained.The proposed approach has outperformed the other two approaches concerning the attack detection rate by an increase of 11%and 18%against Approach 1 and Approach 2 respectively. 展开更多

In recent times,the evolution of blockchain technology has got huge attention from the research community due to its versatile applications and unique security features.The IoT has shown wide adoption in various applications including smart cities,healthcare,trade,business,etc.Among these applications,fitness applications have been widely considered for smart fitness systems.The users of the fitness system are increasing at a high rate thus the gym providers are constantly extending the fitness facilities.Thus,scheduling such a huge number of requests for fitness exercise is a big challenge.Secondly,the user fitness data is critical thus securing the user fitness data from unauthorized access is also challenging.To overcome these issues,this work proposed a blockchain-based load-balanced task scheduling approach.A thorough analysis has been performed to investigate the applications of IoT in the fitness industry and various scheduling approaches.The proposed scheduling approach aims to schedule the requests of the fitness users in a load-balanced way that maximize the acceptance rate of the users’requests and improve resource utilization.The performance of the proposed task scheduling approach is compared with the state-of-the-art approaches concerning the average resource utilization and task rejection ratio.The obtained results confirm the efficiency of the proposed scheduling approach.For investigating the performance of the blockchain,various experiments are performed using the Hyperledger Caliper concerning latency,throughput,resource utilization.The Solo approach has shown an improvement of 32%and 26%in throughput as compared to Raft and Solo-Raft approaches respectively.The obtained results assert that the proposed architecture is applicable for resource-constrained IoT applications and is extensible for different IoT applications. 展开更多

Despite improvements in access and early diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder(ASD),age at initial diagnosis continues to occur closer to 4 years of age.1 The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently published data that shows a trend in improved access and identification for children from black or Latino groups.2 However,there is still a significant discrepancy in access to care for children and families from culturally and linguistically diverse(CLD)backgrounds,and from underserved areas.Early identification and appropriate interventions are key for attaining optimal outcomes.3 Deferred identification in general results in delayed intervention access and increases the risk for prolonged experiences in ineffective environments for a child’s intellectual,emotional,and social development.Deleterious effects are amplified in children from immigrant and historically marginalized communities.4,5 Under-resourced communities are particularly at risk of delayed ASD diagnosis as they have the least amount of access to developmental screening,diagnoses,and services.This context threatens young children’s neurodevelopment and the well-being of their mental health. 展开更多

As requirements for system quality have increased, the need for high system reliability is also increasing. Soflnvare systems are extremely important, in terms of enhanced reliability and stability, for providing high quality services to customers. However, because of the complexity of software systems, soft-ware development can be time-consuming and expensive. Many statistical models have been developed in the past years to estimate soflnvare reliability. In this paper, we propose a new three-parameter fault-detection software reliability model with the uncertainty of operating environments. The explicit mean value function solution for the proposed model is presented. Examples are presented to illustrate the goodness-of-fit of the proposed model and several existing non-homogeneous Poisson process (NHPP) models based on three sets of failure data collected from software applications. The results show that the proposed model fits significantly better than other existing NHPP models based on three criteria such as mean squared error (MSE), predictive ratio risk (PRR), and predictive power (PP). 展开更多
