Hydrocarbons,carbon monoxide and other pollutants from the transportation sector harm human health in many ways.Fuel cell(FC)has been evolving rapidly over the past two decades due to its efficient mechanism to transf...Hydrocarbons,carbon monoxide and other pollutants from the transportation sector harm human health in many ways.Fuel cell(FC)has been evolving rapidly over the past two decades due to its efficient mechanism to transform the chemical energy in hydrogen-rich compounds into electrical energy.The main drawback of the standalone FC is its slow dynamic response and its inability to supply rapid variations in the load demand.Therefore,adding energy storage systems is necessary.However,to manage and distribute the power-sharing among the hybrid proton exchange membrane(PEM)fuel cell(FC),battery storage(BS),and supercapacitor(SC),an energy management strategy(EMS)is essential.In this research work,an optimal EMS based on a spotted hyena optimizer(SHO)for hybrid PEM fuel cell/BS/SC is proposed.The main goal of an EMS is to improve the performance of hybrid FC/BS/SC and to reduce the amount of hydrogen consumption.To prove the superiority of the SHO method,the obtained results are compared with the chimp optimizer(CO),the artificial ecosystem-based optimizer(AEO),the seagull optimization algorithm(SOA),the sooty tern optimization algorithm(STOA),and the coyote optimization algorithm(COA).Two main metrics are used as a benchmark for the comparison:the minimum consumed hydrogen and the efficiency of the system.The main findings confirm that the minimum amount of hydrogen consumption and maximum efficiency are achieved by the proposed SHO based EMS.展开更多

Hainanicus are similar to each other. Their most major distinctive characteristic is the length ratio of tail to body. However, this characteristic was unstable in some measuring records. In Guangdong, R.r. Hainanicus is restrictedly distributed in the west region, and R.r. Sladeni is widely distributed in the other regions of this province. In this study, we detected the sequences of mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene fragments of 9 samples from R.r. Hainanicus and R.r. Sladeni (Longmen and Hong Kong populations). These 385 nucleotide positions of 12S rRNA gene fragment include 26 variable sites and 14 parsimony-informative sites. 3 insertion/deletion sites are observed. The phylogenetic relationships among these samples were constructed by Neighbor-joining and Maximum parsimony methods. The analysis shows that R.r. Hainanicus is more closely relative to the Longmen population of R.r. Sladeni than to the Hong Kong population of R.r. Sladeni. The sequencing analysis of 12S rRNA gene fragments is not agreement on the classification of subspecies R. r. Hainanicus inferred from the morphology and geographical distribution. The morphological variation of R.r. Hainanicus should result from the natural selection, which causes local adaptation and geographic isolation.展开更多
Penile fracture(PF)is a surgical emergency.Given its rarity,we queried a national cohort over an 11-year period to study the temporal and demographic variations in presentation,evaluation,and management of patients wi...Penile fracture(PF)is a surgical emergency.Given its rarity,we queried a national cohort over an 11-year period to study the temporal and demographic variations in presentation,evaluation,and management of patients with PF compared with a cohort of control patients.The National Inpatient Sample was queried between the years 2005 and 2016 for patients with a diagnosis of PF.Appendectomy patients were selected as a control cohort,given the non-discriminatory nature of this disease.Clinical and demographic data of the patients were compared with that of controls.Presenting symptoms,rates of surgical repair,and rates of associated surgical procedures were evaluated in the PF cohort.During the study period,5802 patients were hospitalized for PF.The annual incidence of PF remained unchanged at 1.0-1.8 cases per 100000 hospitalizations over the study period.Compared with the control cohort,PF patients were more likely to be younger(38.7 years vs 41.2 years,P≤0.001),have lower rates of comorbidities except erectile dysfunction(1.4%vs 0.1%,P≤0.001),and were more likely of Black race(25.4%vs 6.2%,P≤0.001).Notably,PF patients had significantly higher rates of substance abuse(26.4%vs 18.1%,P≤0.001),despite no difference in the diagnosed psychiatric disorders.PF rarely presented with hematuria(3.5%);however,urethral evaluation was performed in 23.1%,most commonly with cystoscopy(19.2%).PF occurs more commonly in a younger,healthier male population,and among minorities.Importantly,rates of substance abuse appear to be higher in the PF cohort compared with those of controls.展开更多

The demanding objectives for the future sixth generation(6G)of wireless communication networks have spurred recent research efforts on novel materials and radio-frequency front-end architectures for wireless connectiv...The demanding objectives for the future sixth generation(6G)of wireless communication networks have spurred recent research efforts on novel materials and radio-frequency front-end architectures for wireless connectivity,as well as revolutionary communication and computing paradigms.Among the pioneering candidate technologies for 6G belong the reconfigurable intelligent surfaces(RISs),which are artificial planar structures with integrated electronic circuits that can be programmed to manipulate the incoming electromagnetic field in a wide variety of functionalities.Incorporating RISs in wireless networks have been recently advocated as a revolutionary means to transform any wireless signal propagation environment to a dynamically programmable one,intended for various networking objectives,such as coverage extension and capacity boosting,spatiotemporal focusing with benefits in energy efficiency and secrecy,and low electromagnetic field exposure.Motivated by the recent increasing interests in the field of RISs and the consequent pioneering concept of the RIS-enabled smart wireless environments,in this paper,we overview and taxonomize the latest advances in RIS hardware architectures as well as the most recent developments in the modeling of RIS unit elements and RIS-empowered wireless signal propagation.We also present a thorough overview of the channel estimation approaches for RIS-empowered communications systems,which constitute a prerequisite step for the optimized incorporation of RISs in future wireless networks.Finally,we discuss the relevance of the RIS technology in the latest wireless communication standards,and highlight the current and future standardization activities for the RIS technology and the consequent RIS-empowered wireless networking approaches.展开更多
