This research offers valuable insights into the relationship between land use and daytime climatic comfort in high-rise urban developments in Delhi.This city is navigating rapid urbanisation and facing critical environmental challenges like pollution,heat stress,land degradation etc.The study aims to enhance understanding of how diverse land use patterns influence thermal comfort by utilising satellite data from the Landsat/Resourcesat series for classification and MODIS for land surface temperature(LST)extraction.The findings highlight that regions with dense construction and limited green and blue spaces tend to experience lower levels of climatic comfort,with 17.17 Percent of Delhi’s geographical area feeling the adverse effects of the Urban Heat Island(UHI)phenomenon.On a positive note,40.20 Percent of the area is associated with high climatic comfort,primarily due to natural features such as vegetation and water bodies.Furthermore,the research indicates a noteworthy increase in land surface temperatures(LST)from 2000 to 2022,with peak recorded temperatures rising from 38.35℃ in 2000 to 47.27℃ in 2022.In summary,this study emphasises the importance of understanding and addressing the UHI effect in urban settings,providing constructive recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders dedicated to fostering improved livability and sustainability in urban environments. 展开更多

A Hybrid Clique-Based Method with Structural Feature Node Extraction for Community Detection in Overlapping Networks

Community detection is a fundamental problem in network analysis for identifying densely connected node clusters,with successful applications in diverse fields like social networks,recommendation systems,biology,and cyberattack detection.Overlapping community detection refers to the case of a node belonging to multiple communities simultaneously,which is a much more meaningful and challenging task.Graph representation learning with Evolutionary Computation has been studied well in overlapping community detection to deal with complex network structures and characteristics.However,most of them focus on searching the entire solution space,which can be inefficient and lead to inadequate results.To overcome the problem,a structural feature node extraction method is first proposed that can effectively map a network into a structural embedding space.Thus,nodes within the network are classified into hierarchical levels based on their structural feature strength,and only nodes with relatively high strength are considered in subsequent search steps to reduce the search space.Then,a maximal-clique representation method is employed on the given vertex set to identify overlapping nodes.A hybrid clique-based multi-objective evolutionary algorithmwith decomposition method is designed to address cliques and the remaining unexplored nodes separately.The number of communities generated with this allocation method is closer to the actual partition count with high division quality.Experimental results on nine usually used real-world networks,five synthetic networks,and two large-scale networks demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology in terms of community quality and algorithmic efficiency,compared to traditional,MOEA-based,and graph embedding-based community detection algorithms. 展开更多

Background and Objective:Social media(SoMe)has emerged as a tool in health professions education(HPE),particularly amidst the challenges posed by the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic.Despite the academia’s initial skepticism SoMe has been gaining traction in supporting learning communities,and offering opportunities for innovation in HPE.Our study aims to explore the integration of SoMe in HPE.Four key components were outlined as necessary for a successful integration,and include designing learning experiences,defining educator roles,selecting appropriate platforms,and establishing educational objectives.Methods:This article stemmed from the online Teaching Skills Series module on SoMe in education from the Ophthalmology Foundation,and drew upon evidence supporting learning theories relevant to SoMe integration and models of education.Additionally,we conducted a literature review considering Englishlanguage articles on the application of SoMe in ophthalmology from PubMed over the past decade.Key Content and Findings:Early adopters of SoMe platforms in HPE have leveraged these tools to enhance learning experiences through interaction,dialogue,content sharing,and active learning strategies.By integrating SoMe into educational programs,both online and in-person,educators can overcome time and geographical constraints,fostering more diverse and inclusive learning communities.Careful consideration is,however,necessary to address potential limitations within HPE.Conclusions:This article lays groundwork for expanding SoMe integration in HPE design,emphasizing the supportive scaffold of various learning theories,and the need of furthering robust research on examining its advantages over traditional educational formats.Our literature review underscores an ongoing multifaceted,random application of SoMe platforms in ophthalmology education.We advocate for an effective incorporation of SoMe in HPE education,with the need to comply with good educational practice. 展开更多

It is a big challenge to tune the structure and composition of carbon-based anode materials to increase the active sites by a green synthesis strategy for potassium ion batteries(PIBs).Herein,the N/F/S co-doped three-dimensional(3D)interconnected carbon nanosheets(NFS-CNSs)were synthesized from coal tar pitch(CTP)through a green and low-temperature treatment process for the first time.The as-obtained NFS-CNS600 features 3D interconnected ultra-thin carbon nanosheets with abundant active sites,tunable N/F/S species,and enlarged carbon interlayer spacing.The density functional theory calculation results demonstrate that NFS-CNSs exhibit the highest electron density and most negative K^(+)adsorption energy(-0.59 eV)compared to single or double-atom doping,thereby enhancing the storage performance of K+.As an anode for PIBs,the NFS-CNS600 exhibits good cycle stability(98.2%capacity retention after 200 cycles at 0.2 A g^(-1)),high capacity(409.1 mAh g^(-1) at 0.05 A g^(-1))and rate performance(179.5 mAh g^(-1) at 5 A g^(-1)).Besides,the NFS-CNS600 anode also displays outstanding sodium storage performance.This work offers a green strategy to synthesize CTP-based anode materials from coal chemical by-products for high-performance PIBs. 展开更多

Assessing the Role of Delhi Metro on Urban and Peri-Urban Landscape Change:A GIS Perspective

This study offers valuable insights into the relationship between metro ridership patterns and the spatial transformations around Delhi Metro stations,underscoring the role of mass transit infrastructure in shaping urban land use and ecosystem landscapes.The primary objective is to assess how high-ridership metro stations can positively influence urban development,particularly regarding socio-economic and ecological dimensions.Integrating primary survey data with ridership statistics from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation(DMRC),the research identifies key interchange stations,such as Kashmere Gate and Rajiv Chowk,which exhibit substantial passenger volumes.Utilising GIS-based spatial analysis and remote sensing techniques,land use changes within a 500-meter buffer zone around these stations are considered,focusing on built-up areas,green cover,and open space availability.Time-series satellite imagery generates comparative maps illustrating land use changes pre-and post-introduction of metro services.The analysis reveals that high-ridership stations are linked to significant commercial densification,particularly near Rajiv Chowk,with a p-value of 0.172.Conversely,peripheral stations like Dwarka Sector 21 indicate residential growth trends,with a p-value of 0.087 for residential areas.Importantly,two land use categories—Green Space(t=-2.33,p=0.045)and Open Space(t=3.57,p=0.006)—show statistically significant reductions,highlighting the ecological impacts of metro infrastructure.The findings suggest that metro systems can promote commercial clustering in urban centres while fostering residential growth in surrounding areas.Overall,the study highlights the potential of metro systems to enhance accessibility,reshape urban ecosystems,and encourage the development of compact urban forms.The implications for urban planning advocate for transit-oriented development(TOD)as a strategic approach to manage growth,minimise sprawl,and ensure sustainable and inclusive development. 展开更多

The Effects of Vegetation&Bare Land on Thermal Characteristics:A Case Study of Three Indian Metropolitan Areas

Urban expansion in India’s metropolitan regions has led to significant alterations in land surface composition,which directly affect local thermal environments.Vegetation loss and the emergence of bare land surfaces are increasingly recognized as key contributors to urban heat,yet comparative,multi-city studies addressing their combined effects remain scarce.This study analyzes the influence of vegetation and bare land on land surface temperature(LST)across three major Indian cities—Delhi,Lucknow,and Ahmedabad in 2023.Satellite imagery was used to extract Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI),Normalized Difference Bareness Index(NDBaI),and LST values.Statistical correlation and spatial analysis techniques were applied to evaluate thermal variations across land cover types.NDVI was negatively correlated with LST(r=−0.68 to−0.81),indicating the cooling role of vegetation,whereas NDBaI showed a positive correlation with LST(r=0.59 to 0.74),highlighting the warming effect of bare surfaces.Delhi exhibited the highest maximum LST(47.45℃),while Lucknow recorded the highest minimum(38.63℃).Across all cities and timeframes,vegetated areas consistently showed lower surface temperatures compared to bare or built-up regions.The findings emphasize the importance of vegetation in reducing urban heat and the thermal risk posed by increasing bare land.Strengthening green infrastructure and minimizing exposed soil in urban areas can serve as effective strategies for enhancing thermal comfort and climate resilience in Indian cities. 展开更多

This study examines the spatial and temporal patterns of wetland degradation in Delhi from 1991 to 2021 using remote sensing and GIS techniques.The Automated Water Extraction Index(AWEI)was applied to pre-monsoon Landsat imagery to delineate surface water bodies over the past 30 years accurately.Supervised classification was employed to generate land use maps,while census data was utilized to analyze urbanization trends across the region.Classification accuracy was assessed using Google Earth reference data through a confusion matrix,ensuring the reliability of the land cover analysis.Results reveal a significant decline in wetland extent,especially in densely populated and rapidly urbanizing districts such as North West,South,and East Delhi.During this time,the urban population increased from 52.7% to 97.4%,accompanied by a 70.2% expansion of built-up areas,while wetlands contracted from 32.9 km^(2) to 30.2 km^(2).South Delhi experienced the most severe wetland loss,with water body coverage dropping from 0.800% to 0.025%,whereas North East and Central Delhi maintained higher wetland coverage due to the influence of the Yamuna River and targeted conservation efforts.The study highlights the strong linkage between urban growth and wetland decline,which threatens biodiversity,groundwater recharge,and ecological stability.These findings emphasize the urgent need for integrated urban planning and conservation policies to safeguard wetlands,thereby promoting sustainability and water security in the National Capital Region. 展开更多

A recent study in World Journal of Hepatology examined the use of intravascular ultrasound(IVUS)for transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt(TIPS)creation.The study concluded that IVUS significantly reduces procedure time,radiation exposure,and the number of needle passes compared to conventional fluoroscopic guidance.IVUS offers real-time visualization of the portal vein,but challenges remain in terms of equipment costs and the operator learning curve.TIPS creation techniques vary widely in clinical practice,where methods,such as conventional fluoroscopy,three-dimensional image fusion,electromagnetic navigation,and IVUS,are commonly employed.In this editorial,we provide a comparative analysis of these methods based on clinical experience and the literature.By evaluating the strengths and limitations of each technique,we aim to inform clinical decision-making and enhance procedural outcomes.Future developments in TIPS creation are likely to focus on hybrid techniques that combine the strengths of IVUS,electromagnetic navigation,and real-time image fusion,potentially leading to more precise,cost-effective,and accessible methods. 展开更多

As a renowned historical and cultural city,Luoyang boasts a wealth of tourism resources,including sports venues,natural landscapes,and cultural heritage sites,laying a solid foundation for the integrated development of the tourism industry and sports events in recent years,with remarkable achievements in practice.However,from the perspective of sports-tourism integration,Luoyang’s event tourism still faces a prominent issue of uneven development:a surge in tourists during peak seasons,leading to overcrowded attractions,and a scarcity of visitors during off-peak seasons,resulting in idle resources.This not only leads to inefficient resource utilization but also restricts the enhancement of economic benefits and hinders sustainable development.In light of this,this paper comprehensively employs literature research,case analysis,and fieldwork methods to systematically analyze the current development status of event tourism in Luoyang within the context of sports-tourism integration.The aim is to provide theoretical and practical support for achieving high-quality and balanced development of local event tourism,offering valuable references for addressing the issue of uneven development and moving towards a sustainable future. 展开更多

Comparative Study on Comprehensive Traits of Six Early-Maturing Rapeseed Breeding Materials

To screen high-quality early-maturing rapeseed germplasm resources,this study took six early-maturing Brassica napus varieties(ZY1,ZY2,ZY3,ZY4,ZY5,and ZY6)as research objects to compare and analyze their agronomic traits,resistance,and yield traits.The results showed that the six early-maturing rapeseed varieties exhibited strong pre-winter growth,with the number of green leaf on the main stem ranging from 9.0 to 11.6,the total leaf number of main stem from 11.8 to 14.2,the maximum leaf length on main stem from 41.28 cm to 47.54 cm,the maximum leaf width from 12.02 cm to 13.38 cm,and the rhizome thickness from 20.64 mm to 25.82 mm.The order of green leaf,total leaf,maximum leaf length,and rhizome thickness from high to low across varieties was ZY1>ZY2>ZY3>ZY4>ZY5>ZY6,while the maximum leaf width followed ZY2>ZY1>ZY3>ZY4>ZY5>ZY6.Compared with other varieties,ZY1 and ZY2 had earlier bolting,initial flowering,final flowering,and harvesting times.The growth periods of the varieties were 183-189 d,with ZY1 being the shortest(183 d)and ZY2 following(185 d).Resistance investigations showed that ZY1 had the lowest freeze damage rate(13%)and freeze damage index(0.043),followed by ZY2(15%and 0.060).No Sclerotinia stem rot was observed at the seedling stage,while all varieties developed the disease at maturity;ZY1 had the lowest incidence(15%)and disease index(0.050),followed by ZY2(18%and 0.070).In terms of yield traits,the yield per plant of the six varieties ranged from 11.46 g to 14.53 g,with ZY1 being the highest(14.53 g)and ZY2 following(13.42 g).In conclusion,ZY1 and ZY2 exhibited vigorous pre-winter growth,early bolting and flowering,short growth periods,strong freeze and disease resistance,and high yield per plant,making them ideal materials for early-maturing rapeseed breeding. 展开更多
