Key to the transformation is cities and regions shifting in mobility away from fossil-fuel based car-oriented solutions. The paper investigates a range of case studies where “tram-based boulevards” have been planned or implemented to provide such opportunities. The case studies share a common broader policy objective: to transform the car-oriented or car-saturated areas to an intensified urban template based on a critical presence of dedicated mid-tier transit infrastructure and active transport. “Trams”, or mid-tier, mid-capacity transit when combined with Transit oriented development (TOD) along whole corridors can provide transformative pathways towards zero-carbon outcomes as well as multiple, strong urban benefits. However, many successful or instructive examples of this practice from non-English speaking countries, particularly in Europe, are underdocumented in the international literature. The paper addresses this gap by investigating opportunities and challenges evident in a range of European case studies. These are explored for insight towards policy learning particularly in New World cities seeking to transform into a zero-carbon and more transit-oriented template: How can decision-makers avoid repeating the identified pitfalls, and instead focus on emulating the successful approaches and outcomes? We conclude the need for recognition of the inherent synergies between transport and land use settings in any endeavour, and their translation into policy priorities in both fields of planning. We also conclude the importance of decision makers proactively identifying and critically appraising specific opportunities for change, concerning funding, technology, public opinion, stakeholder alliances or market dynamics, and capitalising on them at suitable moments in time.展开更多

The 12-oxophytodienoate reductase(OPR),a flavin mononucleotide-dependent oxidoreductase,regulates plant responses to stress conditions such as heavy metals,drought,saline-alkali,pests,and diseases by participating in ...The 12-oxophytodienoate reductase(OPR),a flavin mononucleotide-dependent oxidoreductase,regulates plant responses to stress conditions such as heavy metals,drought,saline-alkali,pests,and diseases by participating in the synthesis of plant hormones such as jasmonic acid(JA).In this study,homologous cloning was employed to obtain the Brassica napus‘Zhongshuang 11’OPR1 gene(BnOPR1).Bioinformatics analysis was conducted for the deduced protein BnOPR1,and a plant expression vector for BnOPR1 was constructed.The bioinformatics analysis revealed that BnOPR1 was 1125 bp in length,encoding 375 amino acid residues.The deduced protein had a molecular weight of 41.604 kDa,an isoelectric point of 6.05,a molecular formula of C1853H2855N511O550S16,an aliphatic index of 35.47,a lipophilicity index of 74.87,and an instability index of 39.49.It had 49 phosphorylation sites and lacked transmembrane domains and signal peptides.The phylogenetic analysis indicated that BnOPR1 had a close relationship with the OPR1 protein from Brassica rapa since they shared the same clade,while it had a distant relationship with the OPR1 protein from Raphanus sativus.In this paper,the expression vector for BnOPR1 was successfully constructed by seamless cloning and named pBnOPR1.The findings laid a foundation for further studying the roles of BnOPR1 in the response to antimony stress.展开更多

Objective:To observe effects of Liandou Qingmai Recipe(连豆清脉方) on endothelin-1(ET-1),nitric oxide(NO),interleukin-6(IL-6) and IL-10 levels in patients with coronary heart disease.Methods:Total 101 cases with coron...Objective:To observe effects of Liandou Qingmai Recipe(连豆清脉方) on endothelin-1(ET-1),nitric oxide(NO),interleukin-6(IL-6) and IL-10 levels in patients with coronary heart disease.Methods:Total 101 cases with coronary heart disease were randomly divided into a treatment group(n=45) treated by Liandou Qingmai Recipe and a standard treatment group(control group,n=56),with a normal group of 16 health persons set up.Changes of ET-1,NO,IL-6 and IL-10 levels were measured before treatment and after treatment for two weeks.And the data were analyzed by SPSS 16.0 statistic software.Results:Before treatment,the levels of ET-1,IL-6 and IL-10 levels were significantly higher and NO was significantly lower in the patients with coronary heart disease than those in the normal group(90.7±12.7 ng/L vs 41.8±13.5 ng/L,9.17±0.18 ng/L vs 1.10±0.08 ng/L,1.94±0.26 ng/L vs 1.09±0.06 ng/L,and 92.2±17.7 μmol/L vs 124.5±27.2 μmol/L;all P<0.05),with no significant differences in the levels of ET-1,NO,IL-6 and IL-10 between the treatment group and the control group(P>0.05);After treatment,ET-1 and IL-6 significantly decreased in the treatment group and the control group,and NO increased in the treatment group;And IL-6 level was significantly lower and NO level was higher in the treatment group than those in the control group(4.48±1.22 ng/L vs 5.13±1.85 ng/L,117.4±22.3 μmol/L vs 92.4±17.1 μmol/L;both P<0.05);There was a positive correlation between IL-6 and IL-10,and a negative correlation between NO and IL-10(r=0.142,r=-0.152;both P<0.05).Conclusion:Liandou Qingmai Recipe can decline IL-6,IL-10 and ET-1 levels,and raise NO level in patients with coronary heart disease on the basis of standard treatment,so as to inhibit endothelial inflammatory response,improve vascular endothelial function,with stronger anti-AS action;And vascular endothelial lesion is related with inflammatory response.展开更多

Results showed that low energy ions have different effects on different vegetables. The whole dose-response curve of the germination ratio did not take on "the shape of saddle", but was a rising and falling waveform with the increase or decrease in ion implantation. In the vegetable of Solanaceae, two outstanding aberrant plants were selected from M1 of Henan No.4 tomato at a dose of 7x 1017 nitrogen ions/cm2, which had thin-leaves, long-petal and nipple tip fruit stably inherited to Mr. Furthermore the analysis of the isozyme showed that the activity of the mutant tomato seedling was distinct in quantity and color. In Raphanus sativus L., the aberrances were obvious in the mutant of radish 791 at a dose of 5×10^17 nitrogen ions/cm^2, and the weight of succulent root and the volume of growth were over twice the control's. At present, many species for breeding have been identified in the field and only stable species have been selected for the experiment of production. It is evident that the low energy ion implantation technology has clear effects on vegetables' genetic improvement.展开更多
An estrogen receptor (ER)/androgen receptor (AR) ligand competitive binding assay (ER/AR-binding assay) and chemical analyses were used to evaluate the endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) behavior of two mun...An estrogen receptor (ER)/androgen receptor (AR) ligand competitive binding assay (ER/AR-binding assay) and chemical analyses were used to evaluate the endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) behavior of two municipal wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) (K and S). In the influents, estrone (E 1), androsterone (A), androstenedione (AD), BPA (bisphenol A), NP (nonylphenol) and daidzein (DZ) were detected in high amounts with subsequent 24 h-average concentrations of 350, 1000, 29, 1300, 3900, and 5700 ng/L in K-WWTP and of 310, 620, 59, 1600, 2600, and 8400 ng/L in S-WWTP. The estrogenic (androgenic) activity as 17β-estradiol (E2) equivalents (EEQ) or testosterone (Te) equivalents (TEQ) was consequently 620 ng E2/L (570 ng Te/L) and 580 ng E2/L (800 ng Te/L) for the two WWTPs. The removal efficiencies of the above mentioned sole target chemicals were 51%-100% for K-WWTP and 55.6%-100% for S-WWTP. The removal efficiencies of EEQ were about 73% for both WWTPs, while the removal efficiencies of TEQ were 62.1% for K-WWTP and 98.4% for S-WWTP. In addition, chemical-derived EEQ were about 1.2%-52.4% of those by ER-binding assay for K-WWTP and the corresponding ratios were 1.3%-83.3% for S-WWTP, while chemical derived TEQ were less than 3% of values measured by the AR-binding assay for both WWTPs.展开更多

Exploring high-performance cathode materials for aqueous zinc ion batteries(ZIBs)is still one of the critical issues.Copper vanadate compound has become a potential cathode material for ZIBs with a novel displacement ...Exploring high-performance cathode materials for aqueous zinc ion batteries(ZIBs)is still one of the critical issues.Copper vanadate compound has become a potential cathode material for ZIBs with a novel displacement reaction mechanism of reversible reduction/oxidation of Cu^(2+)/Cu^(0).Herein,we reported Cu_(0.95)V_(2)O_(5)nanoflowers prepared using a hydrothermal synthesis method as a capable cathode material for ZIBs.The Cu_(0.95)V_(2)O_(5)nanoflowers exhibit high specific capacity of 405 mAh·g^(-1) at the current density of 100 mA·g^(-1),benefiting from the displacement reaction mechanism and phase transformation mechanism from Cu_(0.95)V_(2)O_(5)to the open and stable architecture Cu_(0.4)V_(2)O_(5)and Zn3(OH)2V2O7·2H2O phase.The cathode exhibits excellent rate performance with a high capacity of-200 mAh·g^(-1)at 5 A·g^(-1) and outstanding cycle stability with a capacity retention of 92%after 1000 cycles.It is anticipated that the novel Cu_(0.95)V_(2)O_(5)nanoflowers are promising cathode material in the application for zinc ion batteries.展开更多

To intensify the electrolytic efficiency, the effect of electrolytes(NaCl, Na_2SO_4, NaNO_3, and NaClO_4) on electrolysis pretreatment of municipal sludge and its mechanisms was investigated using Ti/PbO_2 electrodes. The electrolytes,which enhanced the production of oxidative radicals, showed a significant synergetic effect in reducing the capillary suction time(CST) of sludge. NaCl was distinguished from the other electrolytes since it formed a large amount of active chlorine species, which oxidized the sludge cells to improve the sludge dewaterability. The surface morphologies as well as the soluble proteins and polysaccharides were analyzed to unravel the underlying mechanisms of sludge dewaterability. Additionally, an economic assessment showed that NaCl addition in the electrolysis pretreatment can be a suitable technique for enhancing municipal sludge dewaterability.展开更多

The theoretical model implied two-way coupled excess pore pr...The effect of soil stratification was studied through numerical investigation based on the coupled model of solute transport in deformable unsaturated soil. The theoretical model implied two-way coupled excess pore pressure and soil deformation based on Biot's consolidation theory as well as a one-way coupled volatile pollutant concentration field developed from the advection-diffusion theory. Embedded in the model, the degree of saturation, fluid compressibility, self-weight of the soil matrix, porosity variance, longitudinal dispersion, and linear sorption were computed. Based on simulation results of a proposed three-layer landfill model using the finite element method, the multi-layer effects are discussed with regard to the hydraulic conductivity, shear modulus, degree of saturation, molecular diffusion coefficient, and thickness of each layer. Generally speaking, contaminants spread faster in a stratified field with a soft and highly permeable top layer; soil parameters of the top layer are more critical than the lower layers but controlling soil thicknesses will alter the results. This numerical investigation showed noticeable impacts of stratified soil properties on solute migration results, demonstrating the importance of correctly modeling layered soil instead of simply assuming the averaged properties across the soil profile.展开更多

However, the spatial, temporal...Annual influenza B virus epidemics and outbreaks cause severe influenza diseases in humans and pose a threat to public health. China is an important epidemic area of influenza B viruses. However, the spatial, temporal transmission pathways and the demography history of influenza B viruses in China remain unknown. We collected the haemagglutinin gene sequences sampled of influenza B virus in China between 1973 and 2018. A Bayesian Markov chain Monte Carlo phylogeographic discrete approach was used to infer the spatial and temporal phylodynamics of influenza B virus. The Bayesian phylogeographic analysis of influenza B viruses showed that the North subtropical and South subtropical zones are the origins of the Victoria and Yamagata lineage viruses, respectively. Furthermore, the South temperate and North subtropical zones acted as transition nodes in the Victoria lineage virus dispersion network and that the North subtropical and Mid subtropical zones acted as transition nodes in the Yamagata lineage virus dispersion network. Our findings contribute to the knowledge regarding the spatial and temporal patterns of influenza B virus outbreaks in China.展开更多
The spread of H5 highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses poses serious threats to the poultry industry,wild bird ecology and human health.Circulation of H5 viruses between poultry and wild birds is a significant pub...The spread of H5 highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses poses serious threats to the poultry industry,wild bird ecology and human health.Circulation of H5 viruses between poultry and wild birds is a significant public health threat in China.Thus,viral migration networks in this region need to be urgently studied.Here,we conducted molecular genetic analyses of the hemagglutinin genes of H5 highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses in multiple hosts from 2000 to 2018 in China.Our aim was to clarify the roles of different hosts in the evolution of H5 viruses.We used a flexible Bayesian statistical framework to simulate viral space diffusion and continuous-time Markov chains to infer the dynamic evolutionary process of spatiotemporal dissemination.Bayesian phylogeographic analysis of H5 viruses showed for the first time that H5 viruses in poultry and wild birds were present in Guangdong Province.Furthermore,Guangdong,Jiangsu,Shanghai and Hunan acted as the epicenters for the spread of various H5 subtypes viruses in poultry,and Henan,Shanghai,Hong Kong and Inner Mongolia acted as epicenters for the spread of various H5 subtypes viruses in wild birds.Thus,H5 viruses exhibited distinct evolutionary dynamics in poultry and wild birds.Our findings extend our understanding of the transmission and spread of highly pathogenic H5 avian influenza viruses in China.展开更多

文摘The 12-oxophytodienoate reductase(OPR),a flavin mononucleotide-dependent oxidoreductase,regulates plant responses to stress conditions such as heavy metals,drought,saline-alkali,pests,and diseases by participating in the synthesis of plant hormones such as jasmonic acid(JA).In this study,homologous cloning was employed to obtain the Brassica napus‘Zhongshuang 11’OPR1 gene(BnOPR1).Bioinformatics analysis was conducted for the deduced protein BnOPR1,and a plant expression vector for BnOPR1 was constructed.The bioinformatics analysis revealed that BnOPR1 was 1125 bp in length,encoding 375 amino acid residues.The deduced protein had a molecular weight of 41.604 kDa,an isoelectric point of 6.05,a molecular formula of C1853H2855N511O550S16,an aliphatic index of 35.47,a lipophilicity index of 74.87,and an instability index of 39.49.It had 49 phosphorylation sites and lacked transmembrane domains and signal peptides.The phylogenetic analysis indicated that BnOPR1 had a close relationship with the OPR1 protein from Brassica rapa since they shared the same clade,while it had a distant relationship with the OPR1 protein from Raphanus sativus.In this paper,the expression vector for BnOPR1 was successfully constructed by seamless cloning and named pBnOPR1.The findings laid a foundation for further studying the roles of BnOPR1 in the response to antimony stress.

文摘Dear Editor,Heart failure(HF)is a common multi-faceted and life-threatening syndrome,of which up to 23%occur acute kidney injury(AKI)[1].HF-related AKI is largely overlooked or delayed in identification[2].Approximately 85%of AKI cases that occurred during cardiac hospitalization in China were either ignored or identifi ed too late[3].Currently,there are no specific guidelines for the management of HF-related AKI.Hence,it is essential to identify patients at the risk of developing AKI and intervene promptly.

文摘Objective:To observe effects of Liandou Qingmai Recipe(连豆清脉方) on endothelin-1(ET-1),nitric oxide(NO),interleukin-6(IL-6) and IL-10 levels in patients with coronary heart disease.Methods:Total 101 cases with coronary heart disease were randomly divided into a treatment group(n=45) treated by Liandou Qingmai Recipe and a standard treatment group(control group,n=56),with a normal group of 16 health persons set up.Changes of ET-1,NO,IL-6 and IL-10 levels were measured before treatment and after treatment for two weeks.And the data were analyzed by SPSS 16.0 statistic software.Results:Before treatment,the levels of ET-1,IL-6 and IL-10 levels were significantly higher and NO was significantly lower in the patients with coronary heart disease than those in the normal group(90.7±12.7 ng/L vs 41.8±13.5 ng/L,9.17±0.18 ng/L vs 1.10±0.08 ng/L,1.94±0.26 ng/L vs 1.09±0.06 ng/L,and 92.2±17.7 μmol/L vs 124.5±27.2 μmol/L;all P<0.05),with no significant differences in the levels of ET-1,NO,IL-6 and IL-10 between the treatment group and the control group(P>0.05);After treatment,ET-1 and IL-6 significantly decreased in the treatment group and the control group,and NO increased in the treatment group;And IL-6 level was significantly lower and NO level was higher in the treatment group than those in the control group(4.48±1.22 ng/L vs 5.13±1.85 ng/L,117.4±22.3 μmol/L vs 92.4±17.1 μmol/L;both P<0.05);There was a positive correlation between IL-6 and IL-10,and a negative correlation between NO and IL-10(r=0.142,r=-0.152;both P<0.05).Conclusion:Liandou Qingmai Recipe can decline IL-6,IL-10 and ET-1 levels,and raise NO level in patients with coronary heart disease on the basis of standard treatment,so as to inhibit endothelial inflammatory response,improve vascular endothelial function,with stronger anti-AS action;And vascular endothelial lesion is related with inflammatory response.

文摘Biological effects of 30 keV low energy nitrogen ion implantation on the seeds of five types of tomato and one type of radish were investigated. Results showed that low energy ions have different effects on different vegetables. The whole dose-response curve of the germination ratio did not take on "the shape of saddle", but was a rising and falling waveform with the increase or decrease in ion implantation. In the vegetable of Solanaceae, two outstanding aberrant plants were selected from M1 of Henan No.4 tomato at a dose of 7x 1017 nitrogen ions/cm2, which had thin-leaves, long-petal and nipple tip fruit stably inherited to Mr. Furthermore the analysis of the isozyme showed that the activity of the mutant tomato seedling was distinct in quantity and color. In Raphanus sativus L., the aberrances were obvious in the mutant of radish 791 at a dose of 5×10^17 nitrogen ions/cm^2, and the weight of succulent root and the volume of growth were over twice the control's. At present, many species for breeding have been identified in the field and only stable species have been selected for the experiment of production. It is evident that the low energy ion implantation technology has clear effects on vegetables' genetic improvement.
文摘An estrogen receptor (ER)/androgen receptor (AR) ligand competitive binding assay (ER/AR-binding assay) and chemical analyses were used to evaluate the endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) behavior of two municipal wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) (K and S). In the influents, estrone (E 1), androsterone (A), androstenedione (AD), BPA (bisphenol A), NP (nonylphenol) and daidzein (DZ) were detected in high amounts with subsequent 24 h-average concentrations of 350, 1000, 29, 1300, 3900, and 5700 ng/L in K-WWTP and of 310, 620, 59, 1600, 2600, and 8400 ng/L in S-WWTP. The estrogenic (androgenic) activity as 17β-estradiol (E2) equivalents (EEQ) or testosterone (Te) equivalents (TEQ) was consequently 620 ng E2/L (570 ng Te/L) and 580 ng E2/L (800 ng Te/L) for the two WWTPs. The removal efficiencies of the above mentioned sole target chemicals were 51%-100% for K-WWTP and 55.6%-100% for S-WWTP. The removal efficiencies of EEQ were about 73% for both WWTPs, while the removal efficiencies of TEQ were 62.1% for K-WWTP and 98.4% for S-WWTP. In addition, chemical-derived EEQ were about 1.2%-52.4% of those by ER-binding assay for K-WWTP and the corresponding ratios were 1.3%-83.3% for S-WWTP, while chemical derived TEQ were less than 3% of values measured by the AR-binding assay for both WWTPs.

文摘Two new minor constituents,musinisins A(1)and B(2),together with five known compounds(3-7),were isolated from the aerial parts of Munronia sinica.Their structures were established by means of spectroscopic methods and the absolute stereochemistry of 1 was determined by single crystal X-ray experiment.Compound 4 showed antiangiogenic activity evaluated by a zebrafish model and apoptosis-inducing effect on A549 lung cancer cells.

文摘Exploring high-performance cathode materials for aqueous zinc ion batteries(ZIBs)is still one of the critical issues.Copper vanadate compound has become a potential cathode material for ZIBs with a novel displacement reaction mechanism of reversible reduction/oxidation of Cu^(2+)/Cu^(0).Herein,we reported Cu_(0.95)V_(2)O_(5)nanoflowers prepared using a hydrothermal synthesis method as a capable cathode material for ZIBs.The Cu_(0.95)V_(2)O_(5)nanoflowers exhibit high specific capacity of 405 mAh·g^(-1) at the current density of 100 mA·g^(-1),benefiting from the displacement reaction mechanism and phase transformation mechanism from Cu_(0.95)V_(2)O_(5)to the open and stable architecture Cu_(0.4)V_(2)O_(5)and Zn3(OH)2V2O7·2H2O phase.The cathode exhibits excellent rate performance with a high capacity of-200 mAh·g^(-1)at 5 A·g^(-1) and outstanding cycle stability with a capacity retention of 92%after 1000 cycles.It is anticipated that the novel Cu_(0.95)V_(2)O_(5)nanoflowers are promising cathode material in the application for zinc ion batteries.

文摘Electrolysis is a promising technology to improve sludge dewaterability efficiently with negligible environmental impact. To intensify the electrolytic efficiency, the effect of electrolytes(NaCl, Na_2SO_4, NaNO_3, and NaClO_4) on electrolysis pretreatment of municipal sludge and its mechanisms was investigated using Ti/PbO_2 electrodes. The electrolytes,which enhanced the production of oxidative radicals, showed a significant synergetic effect in reducing the capillary suction time(CST) of sludge. NaCl was distinguished from the other electrolytes since it formed a large amount of active chlorine species, which oxidized the sludge cells to improve the sludge dewaterability. The surface morphologies as well as the soluble proteins and polysaccharides were analyzed to unravel the underlying mechanisms of sludge dewaterability. Additionally, an economic assessment showed that NaCl addition in the electrolysis pretreatment can be a suitable technique for enhancing municipal sludge dewaterability.
文摘The effect of soil stratification was studied through numerical investigation based on the coupled model of solute transport in deformable unsaturated soil. The theoretical model implied two-way coupled excess pore pressure and soil deformation based on Biot's consolidation theory as well as a one-way coupled volatile pollutant concentration field developed from the advection-diffusion theory. Embedded in the model, the degree of saturation, fluid compressibility, self-weight of the soil matrix, porosity variance, longitudinal dispersion, and linear sorption were computed. Based on simulation results of a proposed three-layer landfill model using the finite element method, the multi-layer effects are discussed with regard to the hydraulic conductivity, shear modulus, degree of saturation, molecular diffusion coefficient, and thickness of each layer. Generally speaking, contaminants spread faster in a stratified field with a soft and highly permeable top layer; soil parameters of the top layer are more critical than the lower layers but controlling soil thicknesses will alter the results. This numerical investigation showed noticeable impacts of stratified soil properties on solute migration results, demonstrating the importance of correctly modeling layered soil instead of simply assuming the averaged properties across the soil profile.

文摘Annual influenza B virus epidemics and outbreaks cause severe influenza diseases in humans and pose a threat to public health. China is an important epidemic area of influenza B viruses. However, the spatial, temporal transmission pathways and the demography history of influenza B viruses in China remain unknown. We collected the haemagglutinin gene sequences sampled of influenza B virus in China between 1973 and 2018. A Bayesian Markov chain Monte Carlo phylogeographic discrete approach was used to infer the spatial and temporal phylodynamics of influenza B virus. The Bayesian phylogeographic analysis of influenza B viruses showed that the North subtropical and South subtropical zones are the origins of the Victoria and Yamagata lineage viruses, respectively. Furthermore, the South temperate and North subtropical zones acted as transition nodes in the Victoria lineage virus dispersion network and that the North subtropical and Mid subtropical zones acted as transition nodes in the Yamagata lineage virus dispersion network. Our findings contribute to the knowledge regarding the spatial and temporal patterns of influenza B virus outbreaks in China.

文摘The spread of H5 highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses poses serious threats to the poultry industry,wild bird ecology and human health.Circulation of H5 viruses between poultry and wild birds is a significant public health threat in China.Thus,viral migration networks in this region need to be urgently studied.Here,we conducted molecular genetic analyses of the hemagglutinin genes of H5 highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses in multiple hosts from 2000 to 2018 in China.Our aim was to clarify the roles of different hosts in the evolution of H5 viruses.We used a flexible Bayesian statistical framework to simulate viral space diffusion and continuous-time Markov chains to infer the dynamic evolutionary process of spatiotemporal dissemination.Bayesian phylogeographic analysis of H5 viruses showed for the first time that H5 viruses in poultry and wild birds were present in Guangdong Province.Furthermore,Guangdong,Jiangsu,Shanghai and Hunan acted as the epicenters for the spread of various H5 subtypes viruses in poultry,and Henan,Shanghai,Hong Kong and Inner Mongolia acted as epicenters for the spread of various H5 subtypes viruses in wild birds.Thus,H5 viruses exhibited distinct evolutionary dynamics in poultry and wild birds.Our findings extend our understanding of the transmission and spread of highly pathogenic H5 avian influenza viruses in China.

This paper describes current situation of the emerging urban green space system and analyzes different characteristics between current green spaces and the old city or existing urban green space. Considering green space system planning in the downtown area of Gu'an County, advantages of the "network + patch" layout for green space systems in emerging towns are summarized to explore a green space structure suited to these towns.
文摘This paper presents an analysis of the former Chinese Communist Party leader Chairman Mao Zedong’s political career(reigned 1949–1976),with regard to his success and failures.Mao was one of the most prominent Communist theoreticians who governed a quarter of humankind for a quarter of a century.His political philosophy,particularly his Method of Leadership,focusing on the“masses”is discussed here.The analytical arguments are centered on three phases of his leadership:The rise,the apex,and the fall.In the first phase,the paper attributes his victory before 1949 to his profound understanding of Chinese peasants.In the second phase,it elaborates on his successful method of leadership in the early 1950s.And in the third and last phase,it criticizes his disastrous political movements,particularly the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution,from the late 1950s to the mid-1970s.The study hopes to offer an objective and a balanced view of Chairman Mao,who had a complex personality and was a highly controversial figure in human history.The article also wishes to help readers gain a better understanding of China’s top leader in recent history,and how China came to be what it is today.
