In this regard, the effect on the mechanical properties and microstmcture of the automotive A356 aluminum alloy reinforced with 0.2 (wt.%) AI-6Ce-3La (ACL) was investigated. The ACL was added to the melted A356 alloy in the as-received condition and processed by mechanical milling. In the second route, the effect of the ACL processed by mechanical milling and powder metallurgy techniques was investigated, and compared with the results ob- tained from the A356 alloy strengthened with ACL in the as-received condition. Microstmctural properties were evaluated by means of X-ray diffraction in order to observe the solubility of Ce/La in the A1 matrix. In addition, electron microscopy was employed in or- der to investigate the effect of milling time on the size and morphology of La/Ce phase under milling process. Mechanical properties of the A356 alloy modified with ACL were measured by hardness and tensile test. For comparison unmodified specimens of the A356 were characterized according to the previous procedure. The microstructural and mechanical characterization was carried out in specimens alter solution and artificial aging. Observations in scanning electron microscopy indicated a homogeneous dispersion of La/Ce phases by using both routes; however, mechanical results, in the modified A356 alloy with the ACL in the as-received condi- tion, showed an improvement in the mechanical performance of the A356 alloy over that reinforced with the ACL mechanically milled.展开更多

The structural and microstructural characteristics were investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), and transmission electron microscopy(TEM). The formation of four micrometric phases was detected: a Cu-rich phase with a face-centered cubic(fcc) structure, a body-centered cubic(bcc) solid solution with Cu-rich plate-like precipitates(fcc), an ordered bcc phase, and a tetragonal structure. The XRD patterns corroborate the presence of a mixture of bcc-, fcc-, and tetragonal-structured phases. The Vickers hardness of the alloy under study was more than twice that of the AlCoCuCrFeNi alloy. Nanoindentation tests were performed to evaluate the mechanical response of the individual phases to elucidate the relationship between chemical composition, crystal structure, and mechanical performance of the multiphase microstructure of the AlCoCuCrFeNiTi HEA.展开更多

Equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) processing was proposed as an alternative method to consolidate the composite where there is no intermetallic formation. The analysis of the ECAP process showed that the intermediate temperature (220℃) produced a higher consolidation level than conventional sintering and hot extrusion (400 and 500℃, respectively). This fact was supported by relative density analysis. In the case of the sintered and hot-extruded sample, the relative density exhibited a value of 0.95, while ECAP sample showed a value of 0.98. Hardness values show that microstructural refinement obtained during mechanical milling was preserved during ECAP processing even when it was carded out at 220℃.展开更多

After deposition the films were annealed under Ar atmosphere at temperature T equal to 923 and 973 for different times followed by quenching in water. X-ray diffraction patterns were obtained to identified phase presents and calculate average crystallite size. To study the effect of configuration thickness in soft phases, DC magnetic measurements were carried out;the measurements were done in the temperature interval of 300 - 50 K. Hysteresis loops collected at low temperatures exposed an increment in coercivity with the decrease of T and at same time, presented a “knee” in the second quadrant of the demagnetization curve, which suggests that the inter-layer exchange coupling becomes less effective, being more evident for sample with 50 nm/25 nm/50 nm thickness. Moreover, δM (H) plots were calculated from magnetic measurements at three different temperatures, T, equal to 300, 150 and 50 K, which corroborates that the dipolar interactions became stronger when thickness of soft phases increases. Finally, the thickness effect is attributed to the SmCo5 phase magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant, which is responsible for the exchange coupling length.展开更多

文摘Glassy carbon nanofibers(GCNFs)are considered promising candidates for the fabrication of nanosensors for biosensing applications.Importantly,in part due to their great stability, carbon electrodes with sub-10 nm nanogaps represent an attractive platform for probing the electrical characteristics of molecules. The fabrication of sub-10 nm nanogap electrodes in these GCNFs,which is achieved by electrically stimulating the fibers until they break, was previously found to require fibers shorter than 2µm;however,this process is generally hampered by the limitations inherent to photolithographic methods. In this work,to obtain nanogaps on the order of 10 nm without the need for sub-2µm GCNFs,we employed a fabrication strategy in which the fibers were gradually thinned down by continuously monitoring the changes in the electrical resistance of the fiber and adjusting the applied voltage accordingly. To further reduce the nanogap size,we studied the mechanism behind the thinning and eventual breakdown of the suspended GCNFs by controlling the environmental conditions and pressure during the experiment.Following this approach, which includes performing the experiments in a high-vacuum chamber after a series of carbon dioxide(CO 2)purging cycles, nanogaps on the order of 10nm were produced in suspended GCNFs 52µm in length, much longer than the~2µm GCNFs needed to produce such small gaps without the procedure employed in this work.Furthermore, the electrodes showed no apparent change in their shape or nanogap width after being stored at room temperature for approximately 6 months.

文摘This review provides a recompilation of the most important and recent strategies employed to increase the efficiency of metal-organic framework(MOF)-based systems toward the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution(PHE)reaction through specific strategies:tailoring the photocatalytic activity of bare MOFs and vip@MOF composites, formation of heterojunctions based on MOFs and various photocatalysts, and inorganic photocatalysts derived from MOFs.According to the data reported in this mini-review,the most effective strategy to improve the PHE of MOFs relies on modifying the linkers with new secondary building units(SBUs).Although several reviews have investigated the photocatalytic activity of MOFs from a general point of view, many of these studies relate this activity to the physicochemical and catalytic properties of MOFs.However, they did not consider the interactions between the components of the photocatalytic material. This study highlights the effects of strength of the supramolecular interactions on the photocatalytic performance of bare and MOF-based materials during PHE.A thorough review and comparison of the results established that metal-nanoparticle@MOF composites have weak van der Waals forces between components, whereas heterostructures only interact with MOFs at the surface of bare materials.Regarding material derivatives from MOFs,we found that pyrolysis destroyed some beneficial properties of MOFs for PHE.Thus,we conclude that adding SBUs to organic linkers is the most efficient strategy to perform the PHE because the SBUs added to the MOFs promote synergy between the two materials through strong coordination bonds.

文摘Considering the hexagonal-shaped quantum-scale formations on the surface of thin semiconductor films, a methodology was developed to obtain the analytical solution of the Schrdinger equation when impenetrable walls of a quantum well are treated as mirrors. The results obtained allowed the calculation of the space probability distributions and the energy spectrum of the particle confined in a hex-agonal-shaped well.
文摘The effectiveness of maltodextrin(10%)and cactus mucilage(CM)(0%,0.25%,0.50%,0.75%,and 1%)as carrier agents was evaluated in the encapsulation of bioactive amaranth compounds.Spray drying,an efficient encapsulation method, achieved high yields(62.9%-68%).The increase in CM concentration significantly augmented the water absorption index(WAI),bulk density, and hygroscopicity of the encapsulated amaranth powders.Conversely,it significantly decreased the moisture content, water activity, and water solubility index(WSI).The glass transition temperatures(>40℃),Hausner ratio(HR),and Carr’s index(CI)values indicated the suitability of powders for handling and processing. Moreover,no cracks were observed in the microcapsules surface, which favoured the bioactive amaranth compounds retention and stability. Thus, low degradation rate constants and long half-life time values were determined for the encapsulated amaranth powders, indicative of its storage appropriateness.Incorporation of 0.75%CM was an efficient concentration to achieve high percentage retention of betacyanins(55.5%),betaxanthins(58%),total polyphenols(73.3%),amaranthine(56.8%),isoamaranthine(62.7%),individual polyphenols(44.6%-81%),and antioxidant activity(79.6%).These results demonstrated the efficiency of CM as an encapsulating agent in the food industry.
