An analytical model of a floating heaving box integrated with a vertical flexible porous membrane placed right next to the box applications to wave energy extraction and breakwater systems is developed under the reduced wave equation.The theoretical solutions for the heave radiating potential to the assigned physical model in the corresponding zones are attained by using the separation of variables approach along with the Fourier expansion.Applying the matching eigenfunction expansion technique and orthogonal conditions,the unknown coefficients that are involved in the radiated potentials are determined.The attained radiation potential allows the computation of hydrodynamic coefficients of the heaving buoy,Power Take-Off damping,and wave quantities.The accuracy of the analytical solution for the hydrodynamic coefficients is demonstrated for different oblique angles with varying numbers of terms in the series solution.The current analytical analysis findings are confirmed by existing published numerical boundary element method simulations.Several numerical results of the hydrodynamic coefficients,power capture,power take-off optimal damping,and transmission coefficients for numerous structural and physical aspects are conducted.It has been noted that the ideal power take-off damping increases as the angle of incidence rises,and the analysis suggests that the ability to capture waves is more effective in shallower waters compared to deeper ones. 展开更多

This study examines the methods to plan the development of offshore oilfields over the years,which are used to support the decision-making on the development of offshore oilfields.About 100 papers are analysed and categorised into different groups of main early-stage decisions.The present study stands in contrast to the contributions of the operations research and system engineering review articles,on the one hand,and the petroleum engineering review articles,on the other.This is because it does not focus on one methodological approach,nor does it limit the literature analysis by offshore oilfield characteristics.Consequently,the present analysis may offer valuable insights,for instance,by identifying environmental planning decisions as a recent yet highly significant concern that is currently being imposed on decision-making process.Thus,it is evident that the incorporation of safety criteria within the technical-economic decision-making process for the design of production systems would be a crucial requirement at development phase. 展开更多

This paper presents an overview of the recent developments in hybrid wind-wave energy.With the focus on floating concepts,the possible configurations introduced in the literature are categorized and depicted,and the main conclusions obtained from the references are summarized.Moreover,offshore wind and wave resources are discussed in terms of complementarity and supplementarity,offering a new perspective to developing hybrid wind-wave energy systems that look for synergies not limited to maximizing power output.Then,the feasibility of the concepts under development is discussed in detail,with focus on technical feasibility,dynamic feasibility and limitations of the methods employed.The hybrid configurations that surpassed the experimental validation phase are highlighted,and the experimental results are summarized.By compiling more than 40 floating wind turbine concepts,new relations are drawn between power,wind turbine dimensions,platforms’draft and displacement,which are further related to the payload allowance of the units to accommodate wave devices and onboard power take-off systems.Bearing in mind that it is a challenge to model the exact dynamics of hybrid floating wind-wave platforms,this paper elucidates the current research gaps,limitations and future trends in the field.Lastly,based on the overview and topics discussed,several major conclusions are drawn concerning hybrid synergies,dynamics and hydrodynamics of hybrid platforms,feasibility of concepts,among other regards. 展开更多

This paper provides an overview of the global wave resource for energy exploration.The most popular metrics and estimators for wave energy resource characterization have been compiled and classified by levels of energy exploration.A review of existing prospective wave energy resource assessments worldwide is also given,and those studies have been collated and classified by continent.Finally,information about forty existing open sea wave energy test sites worldwide and their characteristics is depicted and displayed on a newly created global map.It has been found that wave power density is still the most consensual metric used for wave energy resource assessment purposes among researchers.Nonetheless,to accomplish a comprehensive wave resource assessment for exploitation,the computation of other metrics at the practicable,technical,and socio-economic levels has also been performed at both spatial and temporal domains.Overall,regions in latitudes between 40°and 60°of both hemispheres are those where the highest wave power density is concentrated.Some areas where the most significant wave power density occurs are in offshore regions of southern Australia,New Zealand,South Africa,Chile,the British Isles,Iceland,and Greenland.However,Europe has been the continent where most research efforts have been done targeting wave energy characterisation for exploitation. 展开更多

In the first part, the classical manoeuvring models, such as the Abkowitz model, MMG, Nomoto and their revised versions, are revisited and the model structure with the hydrodynamic coefficients is also presented.Then, manoeuvring tests, including both the scaled model tests and sea trials, are introduced with the fact that the test data is critically important to obtain reliable results using parameter estimation methods. In the last part, selected papers published in journals and international conferences are reviewed and the statistical analysis of the manoeuvring models, test data, system identification methods and environmental disturbances used in the paper is presented. 展开更多

Floating offshore wind turbine platforms typically use stiffened tubular joints at the connections between columns and braces.These joints are prone to fatigue due to complex weld geometries and the additional stress concentrations caused by the stiffeners.Existing hot-spot stress approaches may be inadequate for analysing these joints because they do not simultaneously address weld-toe and weld-root failures.To address these limitations,this study evaluates the fatigue strength of stiffened tubular joints using the effective notch strain approach and the structural strain approach.Both methods account for fatigue at the weld toe and weld root and can be applied to both low-cycle fatigue(LCF)and high-cycle fatigue(HCF)regimes.Reanalyzes of a series of fatigue-tested specimens confirm the effectiveness of both approaches.The stiffener-shell fillet weld root is identified as the most critical fatigue location,which is consistent with fractographic observations.Although the brace-to-shell weld root exhibits lower stress levels in finite element(FE)models,weld quality was determined to be a crucial factor in fatigue failure.Furthermore,the results emphasise the importance of material plasticity in the LCF regime and demonstrate that full weld penetration significantly enhances fatigue strength.These findings provide valuable insights for the fatigue design of stiffened tubular joints in floating offshore wind turbine platforms. 展开更多

为探明高产栽培条件下水稻机械化播栽对稻麦两熟农田稻季甲烷(CH_(4))和氧化亚氮(N_(2)O)排放的影响,以超级稻南粳44为材料,于2011年和2012年在麦秸还田和不还田两种条件下对机械直播、机械栽插、常规手栽3种水稻播栽方式的稻田CH_(4)和... 为探明高产栽培条件下水稻机械化播栽对稻麦两熟农田稻季甲烷(CH_(4))和氧化亚氮(N_(2)O)排放的影响,以超级稻南粳44为材料,于2011年和2012年在麦秸还田和不还田两种条件下对机械直播、机械栽插、常规手栽3种水稻播栽方式的稻田CH_(4)和N_(2)O排放量和水稻产量进行了比较研究.结果表明,稻季CH_(4)和N_(2)O排放主要集中在水稻生育前中期,移栽至有效分蘖临界叶龄期CH_(4)累积排放量占稻季总排放量的76.49%~91.13%,有效分蘖临界叶龄期至拔节N_(2)O累积排放量占稻季总排放量的33.56%~49.41%.麦秸还田显著提高稻季CH_(4)总排放量(P〈0.05)、降低N_(2)O总排放量(P〉0.05),机械栽插的稻季CH_(4)总排放量较常规手栽略减3.25%~9.50%(P〉0.05),机械直播显著低于机械栽插和常规手栽(P〈0.05):2011年,麦秸不还田条件下机械直播较机械栽插和常规手栽稻季CH_(4)分别减排15.69%和18.43%,麦秸还田条件下分别减排14.54%和22.66%;2012年,麦秸不还田条件下机械直播较机械栽插和常规手栽稻季CH_(4)分别减排26.63%和32.12%,麦秸还田条件下分别减排30.51%和36.75%.机械直播较常规手栽显著增加稻季N_(2)O总排放量0.16~0.97 kg/hm^(2)(P〈0.05),机械栽插和常规手栽的差异不大(P〉0.05).机械直播的产量水平显著低于常规手栽(P〈0.05),减产8.43%~10.79%,机械栽插较常规手栽产量降低1.27%~3.49%(P〈0.05).稻季的全球增温潜势主要由排放CH_(4)产生,麦秸还田显著提高全球增温潜势(P〈0.05),机械直播的全球增温潜势显著小于机械栽插和常规手栽(P〈0.05).麦秸还田条件下,2011年和2012年机械直播的“单位产量的全球增温潜势”较常规手栽分别减少12.02%和28.71%(P〈0.05).上述研究表明,在长江下游稻麦两熟区采用机械直播有利于减少稻季CH_(4)排放,麦秸还田条件下机械直播替代常规手栽能减少稻田排放CH_(4)和N_(2)O产生的综合温室效应. 展开更多

不断深化的工业化和城市化使中国化石能源消耗处于扩展期。日益增加的化石能源消耗尽管带来了快速的经济发展,但也使中国面临着日益严重的资源环境问题。而随着经济发展水平的不断提高,人们对生活质量的要求越来越高,并逐渐成为社会主... 不断深化的工业化和城市化使中国化石能源消耗处于扩展期。日益增加的化石能源消耗尽管带来了快速的经济发展,但也使中国面临着日益严重的资源环境问题。而随着经济发展水平的不断提高,人们对生活质量的要求越来越高,并逐渐成为社会主要矛盾的重要体现。在另一方面,受区域技术、经济等因素影响,区域生态建设绩效出现了加大的差异。尽管国家采取了一系列政策来促使区域生态建设协调程度,但区域差异现象依然明显。在这种情况下,中央提出建设美丽中国来满足各地区人们对高质量生活的向往。结合现有研究结论来看,要想建设美丽中国、实现区域平衡发展,就必须提高区域生态建设协调程度。而要真正实现区域生态建设协调发展,就必须通过能源技术创新提高区域能源效率改善区域生态水平。基于上述分析,文章在基于能源约束程度对内陆省市进行区域划分基础上,运用DEA方法评价了区域生态建设协调度,分析了能源技术专利总量对区域生态建设协调度的影响,讨论了区域生态建设协调度提升途径。结论显示:①中国区域生态建设协调度在不断提高但总体水平不高,且与能源约束程度成正比。②能源技术专利是区域生态建设协调程度不断提高的重要动力,区域生态建设协调程度与专利总量成正相关关系;但区域推动作用差异明显,其大小取决于区域能源消费特征与专利结构。可从以下方面提高区域生态建设协调程度:扩大能源技术研发规模,优化能源技术研发投入和专利结构;控制能源消费总量,实现能源消费结构的低碳化;加强政策体系建设,充分发挥政策工具的创新诱导作用。 展开更多

A computer code based on the double-body potential flow model and the classic source panel method has been developed to study various problems of hydrodynamic interaction between ships and other objects with solid boundaries including the seabed. A peculiarity of the proposed implementation is the application of the so-called "moving-patch" method for simulating steady boundaries of large extensions. The method is based on an assumption that at any moment just the part of the boundary ("moving patch") which lies close to the interacting ship is significant for the near-field interaction. For a specific case of the fiat bottom, comparative computations were performed to determine optimal dimensions of the patch and of the constituting panels based on the trade-off between acceptable accuracy and reasonable efficiency. The method was applied to estimate the sway force on a ship hull moving obliquely across a dredged channel. The method was validated for a case of ship-to-ship interaction when tank data were available. This study also contains a description of a newly developed spline approximation algorithm necessary for creating consistent discretizations of ship hulls with various degrees of refinement. 展开更多

Optimization procedures are required to minimize the amount of fuel consumption and exhaust emissions from marine engines.This study discusses the procedures to optimize the performance of any marine engine implemented in a 0D/1D numerical model in order to achieve lower values of exhaust emissions.From that point,an extension of previous simulation researches is presented to calculate the amount of SOx emissions from two marine diesel engines along their load diagrams based on the percentage of sulfur in the marine fuel used.The variations of SOx emissions are computed in g/k W·h and in parts per million(ppm)as functions of the optimized parameters:brake specific fuel consumption and the amount of air-fuel ratio respectively.Then,a surrogate model-based response surface methodology is used to generate polynomial equations to estimate the amount of SOx emissions as functions of engine speed and load.These developed non-dimensional equations can be further used directly to assess the value of SOx emissions for different percentages of sulfur of the selected or similar engines to be used in different marine applications. 展开更多

A numerical study of ship-to-ship interaction forces is performed using a commercial CFD code,and the results are compared with experimental data and with the results of a panel method analysis.Two ship models have been used in the interaction forces analysis:a tug and a tanker,advancing parallel to each other with different lateral distances and two different values of the fluid depth.Computations are carried out with four different flow models:inviscid and viscous flow with the free surface modeled as a rigid wall and inviscid and viscous flow with the deformable free surface.A fair agreement was obtained with available experimental data and results obtained by panel method.The influence of viscosity in the computations is found to be comparatively weak,while the wavemaking effects may be important,at small magnitude of the horizontal clearance. 展开更多

The primary objective of the present literature review is to provide a constructive and systematical discussion based on the relevant development,unsolved issues,gaps,and misconceptions in the literature regarding the fields of study that are building blocks of artificial intelligence-aided life extension assessment for offshore wind turbine support structures.The present review aims to set up the needed guidelines to develop a multi-disciplinary framework for life extension management and certification of the support structures for offshore wind turbines using artificial intelligence.The main focus of the literature review centres around the intelligent risk-based life extension management of offshore wind turbine support structures.In this regard,big data analytics,advanced signal processing techniques,supervised and unsupervised machine learning methods are discussed within the structural health monitoring and condition-based maintenance planning,the development of digital twins.Furthermore,the present review discusses the critical failure mechanisms affecting the structural condition,such as high-cycle fatigue,low-cycle fatigue,fracture,ultimate strength,and corrosion,considering deterministic and probabilistic approaches. 展开更多

Relevant academic research and industrial applications are identified and summarized. The state of art, capabilities,and constraints of condition-based maintenance are analyzed. The presented research demonstrates that the intelligent-based approach has become a promising solution for condition recognition, and an integrated data platform for offshore wind farms is significant to optimize the maintenance activities. 展开更多

This study investigates strategies for solving the system reliability of large three-dimensional jacket structures.These structural systems normally fail as a result of a series of different components failures.The failure characteristics are investigated under various environmental conditions and direction combinations.Theβ-unzipping technique is adopted to determine critical failure components,and the entire system is simplified as a series-parallel system to approximately evaluate the structural system reliability.However,this approach needs excessive computational effort for searching failure components and failure paths.Based on a trained artificial neural network(ANN),which can be used to approximate the implicit limit-state function of a complicated structure,a new alternative procedure is proposed to improve the efficiency of the system reliability analysis method.The failure probability is calculated through Monte Carlo simulation(MCS)with Latin hypercube sampling(LHS).The features and applicability of the above procedure are discussed and compared using an example jacket platform located in Chengdao Oilfield,Bohai Sea,China.This study provides a reference for the evaluation of the system reliability of jacket structures. 展开更多
