Juniperus oxycedrus(J.oxycedrus)is a traditional culinary spice and medicinal herb with a longstanding history of ethnopharmacological applications across diverse cultures. While prior research has explored the biological activities and phytochemical constituents of extracts derived from its leaves and seed cones, the present study systematically investigates their mineral and phenolic profiles alongside their multifunctional bioactive potential.Inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy(ICP-AES)analysis revealed a substantial abundance of essential macro-and microelements.Reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography(RP-HPLC)further identified high concentrations of phenolic acids(e.g.,p-coumaric acid)and flavonoids(e.g.,rutin and quercetin). The extracts exhibited potent radical scavenging activity against 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH),robust antioxidant capacity against hydrogen peroxide, and significant inhibition of xanthine oxidase(XO)activity.Notably, both extracts demonstrated marked antibacterial efficacy. In silico molecular docking studies suggested that the antimicrobial activity may stem from the phenolic constituents, which exhibited favorable binding affinities to the active site of bacterial target proteins. These findings underscore J.oxycedrus as a promising reservoir of bioactive natural compounds, warranting further exploration for therapeutic and nutraceutical applications. 展开更多

Since it first appeared in 2022,the phenomenon referred to as Colony Collapse Disorder(CCD)has affected several regions of Morocco to varying degrees. In order to assess the possible impact of pesticides on the appearance of this syndrome,we conducted a study aimed at evaluating the impact of pesticide use on the emergence of this syndrome through a year-long survey involving 160 beekeepers in the Beni Mellal–Khenifra Region(BKR)who also experienced an unprecedented desertion of hives during the same period. The majority of surveyed beekeepers practice mixed(45%)or migratory beekeeping(42%)and provide supplementary feeding(83.75%)to support their bees.Nearly 37.5%of the hives are located near crops treated with pesticides, exposing the bees to these chemicals. The results showed that the majority of beekeepers reported a cessation of queen laying(74.38%),high mortality rates among worker bees(81.25%),drones(65.63%),and queens(61.88%).Abnormal behaviors such as immobility with trembling(42.50%),reduced flights(47.50%),and disoriented navigation(28.75%)were also observed.Correlation analyses indicate that proximity to treated crops significantly increases the risk of queen laying cessation(Odds Ratio 6.0)and a reduction in waggle dances(Odds Ratio 2.41).Extended foraging flights show a borderline statistical significance(Odds Ratio 2.33),suggesting a disruption of natural food sources. These results highlight the potential impact of pesticides on colony health and bee behavior, pointing out the need to adapt beekeeping practices and implement protective measures against pesticides. 展开更多

The No.601 watermelon (citrullus lanatus) seeds were treated with 25 keV N+ implantation at the dosage of 7.8 ×1016 ions/cm2. After treatment, watermelon seeds were incubated with 380μg/μl pumpkin (Cucubita, maxima Duch) DNA solution at 35 ℃ for 5 hours. By two-generations of selection and resistance screening at seedling stage, one transformed material was selected out, whose rind color is similar to that of the donor pumpkin and whose size of seeds is between that of the donor and the receptor. Using AFLP (amplified fragment length polymorphism) technique, two polymorphic DNA fragments were amplified. This primarily testified that the donor DNA fragments/gene were introduced into the receptor cell and integrated into the genomic DNA of the receptor. 展开更多
