The physical and chemical properties and soundness of Baosteel Power Plant' s dry desulphurized fly ash were systematically investigated and compared with those of the similar byproducts produced by some other domestic power plants. The feasibility of these byproducts used as a construction material was also analyzed. The results show that Baosteel's dry desulphurized fly ash is a kind of ash with high calcium and high sulfur contents, which has the characteristics of volcanic ash activity. It contains sulfate and sulfite, and is easy to cause sulfate activation. It has higher activity compared with common fly ash. But higher calcium sulfite and free-CaO contents in ash will bring about soundness concerns to users. Therefore, quality tests and volume control will be necessary when fly ash is used as a construction material. 展开更多

The practice of using LT dust and BOF slag as hot metal dephosphorizing fluxes at Baosteel

In order to meet the requirements for environmental protection and achieve sustainable development for the steel industry, Baosteel' s secondary resources should be utilized in production. Hot metal dephosphorizing factors are analyzed and the practice of a dephosphorizing agent for molten iron pretreatment with LT dust and BOF slag is introduced. Experimental results show that LT dust and BOF slag can be substituted for traditional raw materials, such as sinter and quicklime, etc in molten iron dephosphorization. The proper addition of LT dust or BOF slag and the proper control over basic agents, oxidizing agents and fluxes can achieve the same effect as traditional dephosphorizing agents. BaO can reduce the activity of P2O5 and form stable dephosphorizing products. Using a BaO dephosphorizing agent as a kind of harmless dephosphorizing agent will be one of the trends of molten iron dephosphorization. 展开更多

Changes in quick self-hydraulicity of Baosteel different BF slag, changes in strength of different slag at different maintenance temperatures and changes in strength of different BF slag stimulated by clinker are tested in various ways. Effect of external factors on slag' s activity is analyzed. The results indicate that the slag from Baosteel has higher hydraulicity, and it increases with time. 展开更多
