Floral extract of Tecoma stans:A potent inhibitor of gentamicin-induced nephrotoxicity in vivo

Objective:To highlight the nephroprotective activity of ethyl acetate extract of dried flowers of Tecomu stans for its protective effects on genlamicin-induced nephrotoxicity in albino rats. Methods:For studying acute toxicity study,single oral dose of 5(KM) mg ethyl acetate floral extract/kg hodv weight was administered to albino rats(five females,five males).Nephrotoxicity was induced in albino rats by intraperitoneal administration of gentamicin 80 mg/kg/day for eight days.Effect of concurrent administration of ethyl acetate floral extract of Tecoma stans at a dose of 100.200 and 300 mg/kg/day given by oral mute was determined using serum creatinine,serum uric acid,blood urea nitrogen and serum urea as indicators of kidney damage.The study groups contained six rats in each group.As nephrotoxicity of gentamicin is known to involve induction of oxidative stress,in vitro antioxidant aclivity and free radical-scavenging activity of this extract was also evaluated.Results:For acute toxicity testing both female and male rats administered with the extract at a dose of 5 000 mg/kg.The results showed no toxicity in terms of general behavior change,mortality,or change in gross appearance of internal organs(LD<sub>50</sub>】5 000 mg/kg). It was observed that the ethyl acetate floral extract of Tecoma stans significantly protected rat kidneys from gentamicin-induced histopathological changes.Gentamicin-induced glomerular congestion,peritubular and blood vessel congestion,epithelial desquamation,accumulation ol inflamnialoiy cells and necrosis of the kidney cells were found to be reduced in the groups receiving the ethyl acetate floral extract of Tecoma starts along with gentamicin in a dose dependent manner.The floral extract also reduced the gentamicin-induced increase in serum creatinine,serum uric acid,blood urea nitrogen and serum urea levels(P】0.01).Conclusions: The present study indicates a verv important role of reactive oxygen species(BOS) and the relation to renal dysfunction and point to the therapeutic potential of Tecoma stans in gentamicin induced nephrotoxicity. 展开更多

Contact between mobile hosts and database servers presents many problems in theMobile Database System(MDS).It is harmed by a variety of causes,including handoff,inadequate capacity,frequent transaction updates,and repeated failures,both of which contribute to serious issues with the information system’s consistency.However,error tolerance technicality allows devices to continue performing their functions in the event of a failure.The aim of this paper is to identify the optimal recovery approach from among the available state-of-the-art techniques in MDS by employing game theory.Several of the presented recovery protocols are chosen and evaluated in order to determine the most critical factors affecting the recovery mechanism,such as the number of processes,the time required to deliver messages,and the number of messages logged-in time.Then,using the suggested payout matrix,the game theory strategy is adapted to choose the optimum recovery technique for the specified environmental variables.The NS2 simulatorwas used to carry out the tests and apply the chosen recovery protocols.The experiments validate the proposed model’s usefulness in comparison to other methods. 展开更多

The latest resource assessment results, performed by China's three national oil companies (CNPC, Sinopec and CNOOC), also indicate that petroleum exploration still has a solid resource base. According to the latest nationwide petroleum resource assessment results and the proved oil and gas geologic reserves at the end of 2004, the average discovery maturity of recoverable oil reserves is 20% in China, with 40% in east China, 14% in westcentral China and 14.5% in offshore China, reflecting that petroleum exploration is still in middle stage with considerable exploration potential. 展开更多

Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, with breast cancer being the most common (2.26 million new cases and 685,000 deaths). In Saudi Arabia, breast cancer ranked the first among females in 2014, accounting for 15.9% of all cancers reported among Saudi nationals and 28.7% of all cancers reported among females of all ages. Early detection of breast cancer could decrease the risks, have a better prognosis, and have better outcomes/more successful treatments. Prevalence of breast cancer reached more than 25% of all diagnosed cancer in the kingdom among women. Aim: This study aims to assess the knowledge and performance of women attending primary care centers about breast self-examination and mammogram screening for prevention and early detection of breast cancer in Abha city primary healthcare centers, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Research Method: cross sectional design was conducted by using questionnaire, which was distributed to primary care center nurses. The collected data was statistically analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences, version 25. Results: The study found that participants had poor awareness and knowledge about breast self-examination, risk factors for breast cancer, and trends and practices in early diagnosis of breast cancer. Conclusion and Recommendations: It recommends increasing awareness campaigns and providing educational programs to improve knowledge and practices. 展开更多

With the aid of conventional theories and the use of empirical tests, our study identifies some decisive factors that have influenced China's inbound tourist revenue through an analysis of the global and local conditions at macro and micro levels. The findings were then linked to the Olympic Games, the mega event having impacted international tourism. The increased adoption of lithium-iron-phosphate batteries,in response to the need to reduce the battery manufacturing process’s dependence on scarce minerals and create a resilient and ethical supply chain,comes with many challenges.The design of an effective and high-performing battery management system(BMS)for such technology is one of those challenges.In this work,a physics-based model describing the two-phase transition operation of an iron-phosphate positive electrode—in a graphite anode battery—is integrated with a machine-learning model to capture the hysteresis and path-dependent behavior during transient operation.The machine-learning component of the proposed“hybrid”model is built upon the knowledge of the electrochemical internal states of the battery during charge and discharge operation over several driving profiles.The hybrid model is experimentally validated over 15 h of driving,and it is shown that the machine-learning component is responsible for a small percentage of the total battery behavior(i.e.,it compensates for voltage hysteresis).The proposed modeling strategy can be used for battery performance analysis,synthetic data generation,and the development of reduced-order models for BMS design. 展开更多
