Although there are many parameters involved, one of the driving forces behind this situation is the emphasis given so far only to the market value of mountain goods and services, ignoring the true social and environmental costs of using mountain resources. Towards this direction, the use of non-market valuation techniques could prove to be beneficial. Bearing in mind the above remarks, the paper presents an application of the Contingent Valuation Method, which aims at estimating the monetary value of a mountain settlement’s vernacular architecture, namely Metsovo. For this purpose, the survey focuses on Metsovo visitors’ willingness to pay a single annual voluntary contribution to an institution that would be founded in order to undertake all necessary actions required to preserve the town’s traditional character. The results are very promising and indicate that vernacular architecture holds a significant economic value that could justify the implementation of appropriate policies towards the protection of vernacular settlements in mountain areas.展开更多

At this time, the study of architecture from the perspective of geography has significant meaning for treasuring regional characteristics and protecting the essence of ethnic culture. The study of geo-architecture includes two aspects: the influence of geographical environment upon architecture and reflexively, architectural responses to geographical environment. In "Geo-Architecture and Landscape in China's Geographic and Historic Context Series"(4 volumes), published by Springer Nature in 2016, the contents of "geo-architecture" has been interpreted from various angles as form, function, semantics and symbol. This book is the first to be entitled "Geo-Architecture", which studies the relationship between geography and architecture from the perspective of geographical environment and historical context in China. The book's research reveals the influences of different geographical scales, such as zone(macro), region(middle) and site(micro) scales, on architecture; it discusses dynamic and systematic thought, including such research elements as "Object-Subject-Time", and it reflects views on pattern and process of cultural landscape. Research on geo-architecture aims to help construct the security pattern of the cultural landscape for the new requirements of a new era, which is used to optimize spacial structure, stimulate heritage conservation and renewal, respect the geographical environment, pay attention to historical culture and sustain emotional memory.展开更多

文摘Traditional architecture is a cultural expression of a community that has developed from time to time with changes in and continuity of its cultural values. There are cultural values that remain stable and can still survive in contemporary culture, whereas others change following the socio-cultural development of the community. There needs to be a balance between the change in and continuity of cultural values to achieve the sustainability of traditional architecture.Balance can be achieved if the core of its heritage, which is the cultural values of the community,is maintained and if the heritage values of old cultural products can be appreciated in contemporary culture.Tenganan Pegringsingan Village,a traditional Bali Aga village, has developed into a cultural tourism village. Most of its residents are involved in tourism activities, having opened art shops in their houses and selling crafts in the open spaces of the village.Problems arise when changes in the architecture of the village and residents'houses, regarding which there is fear that they will affect the sustainability of residents'traditional cultural values, increase. This study aims to examine the changes in and continuity of traditional architecture in the Tenganan Pegringsingan Village settlement. It observed the village and spatial layout of houses, conducted in-depth interviews with homeowners and village leaders, and was supported by data from questionnaires.Qualitative analysis was carried out, supported by maps, photos, and architectural drawings. This study revealed that there are changes in four elements of village architecture due to tourism, including village spatial design, the function and design of awangan(open space),the function and layout of houses, and building façades. The intervention of the government and the involvement of the community in tourism activities for economic interests have triggered many changes. However, the continuity of these components still exists because the village community continues to strongly hold traditional rules.Tenganan Pegringsingan Village is under threat due to the decline of its architectural continuity, which will obscure and degrade the cultural values of its heritage. The balance between the change in and continuity of the elements of village spatial design and houses, which is strongly influenced by the dynamics of the community's cultural life,is the novelty of this architectural research.

文摘Despite public and private investments in the senior housing sector,an alternative to retirement homes is not yet truly present in Italy, except for a few rare cases. The spots in residential facilities for the elderly are limited and not enough to fill a demand for spaces that is continuously increasing.Another underlying problem is that the type of user that senior housing is aimed at is not currently considered by the Italian market;the impact of factors that can decrease the quality of life in elderly people, such as loneliness, lack of physical activity or loss of routine is underestimated. This set of negative factors promotes the opposite of what is considered active aging. In recent years senior houses, intended as a residential typology for self-sufficient elderly people, have undergone a significant evolution, reflecting social, demographic and technological changes;this reflects a paradigm shift in the way society approaches care to the elderly, focusing increasingly on autonomy, personalization and well-being.From 2010 to 2024,there has been greater attention towards customization of programs and spaces dedicated to the elderly, with the aim of offering services that meet everyone’s specific needs.Senior houses are becoming more oriented towards a wellbeing-based approach and are starting to focus on social inclusion as well, promoting recreational and cultural activities to improve the quality of life of elderly vips.A strategy used for social inclusion is to dedicate part of the project to functions open to the public(kindergartens, community centers, spaces for associations, etc.)so that the project fits into the urban level of the city by interacting with it.The proposal is to integrate cultural spaces with senior housing in a way that the elderly residents can become the keepers and narrators of local heritage, creating intergenerational communities.

文摘This study focused on spatial analysis to identify the changes in adaptability over the last five decades. The features influencing adaptability were selected from the reference study. An appropriate method was used to analyse these features through spatial analysis.Six distinctive typologies of rural houses were selected from six regions.Unlike the traditional houses, the contemporary houses in the same area reflected a different character.Urban houses built since the early and mid-20th century were compared with contemporary houses. After analysing the openness, generality, flexibility, depth, typicality, construction technique, involvement of end-users,and the feedback from the inhabitants, the study identified a significant decrease in contemporary houses'adaptability.Spatial analysis was used to quantify the different features and comparison between traditional and contemporary houses.Though the adaptability had been reduced over time, the latest houses started to achieve better flexibility in some features due to government policy and implementation of statutory building regulations.Further recommendations were provided to enhance the residential architecture's adaptability in future. The study samples were selected from different regions of Bangladesh.Still, the result and policy recommendations can be helpful for other countries, especially with high population density and a developing economy.

文摘Human pressure on mountain resources poses certain threats to their natural and man-made environment. The results are very promising and indicate that vernacular architecture holds a significant economic value that could justify the implementation of appropriate policies towards the protection of vernacular settlements in mountain areas.

文摘In today's world, where re-examination has been given to cultural globalization, the relationship between architectures and specific regions is one of many specific issues. Research on geo-architecture aims to help construct the security pattern of the cultural landscape for the new requirements of a new era, which is used to optimize spacial structure, stimulate heritage conservation and renewal, respect the geographical environment, pay attention to historical culture and sustain emotional memory.
