Furthermore, improving the safety, reliability, and production efficiency of energetic semiconductor bridge(ESCB) is the primary focus for large-scale engineering applications in the future. Here, the Al/CuO nano-film ESCB was efficiently fabricated using 3D direct writing. The electrostatic safety of the film is enhanced by precisely adjusting the particle size of Al, while ensuring that the SCB can initiate the film with small energy. The burst characteristics of SCB/ESCB were thoroughly investigated by employing a 100 μF tantalum capacitor to induce SCB and ESCB under an intense voltage gradient. The solid-state heating process of both SCB and ESCB was analyzed with multi physical simulation(MPS). The experimental results demonstrate that the critical burst time of both SCB and ESCB decreases with increasing voltage. Under the same voltage, the critical burst time of ESCB is longer than that of SCB, primarily due to differences in the melting to vaporization stage. The MPS results indicate that the highest temperature is observed at the V-shaped corner of SCB. Due to the thermal contact resistance between SCB and the film, heat conduction becomes more concentrated in the central region of the bridge, resulting in a faster solid-state heating process for ESCB compared to SCB.The results of the gap ignition experiments indicate that at a 19 mm gap, an ESCB with a film mass of 10 mg can ignite nickel hydrazine nitrate(NHN) and cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine(RDX). This suggests that thermite ESCB can serve as a novel, safe, and reliable energy exchange element and initiator in largescale engineering applications.展开更多

To achieve both functionality and miniaturization, MEMS pyrotechnics integrate initiator, safety-and-arming(S&A) device and lead charge and keep all components within a small size. MEMS S&A devices, as the core component to ensure system safety, are difficult to achieve active and rapid response to control signals with high safety and reliability. In order to overcome the difficulty, we propose the design and characterization of a MEMS pyrotechnic with a double-layer barrier S&A device. The MEMS pyrotechnic is a high-integrated device with an overall size of 13.4 × 8.5 × 5.2 mm^(3). The initiator is a Ni Cr bridge foil covered with an Al/Cu O energetic film, which can generate flame when ignited by an excitation voltage. To match the flame energy, lead styphnate is chosen in this study as the lead charge. The S&A device contains four semi-circular barriers, which are directly driven by V-shape electro-thermal actuators to gain active control of the pyrotechnics’ ignition condition with rapid response. To improve the system’s reliability, the four barriers are axisymmetrically placed in two layers, two barriers for each layer, to constitute a double-layer structure with a thickness of 100 μm. The ignition test results show that the S&A device can prevent the initiator from detonating the lead charge in safety condition. In arming condition, the lead charge will be detonated.展开更多

HNS microspheres were prepared using droplet microfluidics, and the particle size, morphology, specific surface area, thermal performance, and ignition threshold of the HNS microspheres were characterized and tested. The results shown that the prepared HNS microspheres have high sphericity, with an average particle size of 20.52 μm(coefficient of variation less than 0.2), and a specific surface area of 21.62 m^(2)/g(6.87 m^(2)/g higher than the raw material). Without changing the crystal structure and thermal stability of HNS-IV, this method significantly enhances the sensitivity of HNS-IV to short pulses and reduces the ignition threshold of the slapper detonator to below 1000 V. This will contribute to the miniaturization and low cost of EFI.展开更多

This image shows that there are about 20 coherent internal solitary wave (ISW) packets propagating southwestward toward Zhejiang coast. These ISW packets are separated by about 10 kin, suggesting that these ISWs are tide-generated waves. Each ISW packet contains 5-15 wave crests. The wavelengths of the wave crests within the ISW packets are about 300 m. The lengths of the leading wave crests are about 50 km. The ISW amplitude is estimated from solving KdV equation in an ideal two-layer ocean model. It is found that the ISW amplitudes is about 8 m. Further analysis of the ASAR image and ocean stratification profiles show that the observed ISWs are depression waves. Analyzing the tidal current finds that these waves are locally generated. The wavelength and amplitude of the ECS ISW are much smaller than their counter- parts in the South China Sea (SCS). The propagation speed of the ECS ISW is also an order of magnitude smaller than that of the SCS ISW. The observed ISWs in the ECS happened during a spring tide period.展开更多

Highly diluted SonoVue microbubbles are injected into a diluted gel made of xanthan gum and water. The responses of individual SonoVue bubbles to driven ultrasound pulses are measured. Both linear and nonlinear bubble oscillations are observed and the results suggest that SonoVue microbubbles can generate strong nonlinear responses. By fitting the experimental data of individual bubble responses with Sarkar's model, the shell coating parameter of the bubbles and dilatational viscosity is estimated to be 7.0 nm-s-Pa.展开更多

However, previous studies also reported that the cell death occurs when cells are maintained at 43 ℃ for more than 20 minutes. The aim of this study is to investigate thermal responses inside in vivo rabbit auricular veins exposed to pulsed HIFU (1.17 MHz, 5300 W/cm2, with relatively low-duty ratios (0.2%-4.3%). The results show that: (1) with constant pulse repetition frequency (PRF) (e.g., 1 Hz), the thermal responses inside the vessel will increase with the increasing duty ratio; (2) a temperature elevation to 43 ℃ can be identified at the duty ratio of 4.3%; (3) with constant duty ratios, the change of PRF will not significantly affect the temperature measurement in the vessel; (4) as the duty ratios lower than 4.3%, the presence of microbubbles will not significantly enhance the thermal responses in the vessel, but will facilitate HIFU-induced inertial cavitation events.展开更多

The model generally agrees with the observations in showing considerable seasonal and interannual variability of the Pacific water inflow at Bering Strait in response to changes in atmospheric circulation. During summer 2007 anomalously strong southerly winds over the PaCific sector of the Arctic Ocean strengthen the ocean circulation and bring more Pacific water into the Arctic than the recent (2000-2006) average. The simulated summer (3 months ) 2007 mean Pacific water inflow at Bering Strait is 1.2 Sv, which is the highest in the past three decades of the simulation and is 20% higher than the recent average. Particularly, the Pacific water inflow in September 2007 is about 0.5 Sv or 50% above the 2000-2006 average. The strengthened warm Pacific water inflow carries an additional 1.0 x 1020 Joules of heat into the Arctic, enough to melt an additional 0.5 m of ice over the whole Chukchi Sea. In the model the extra summer oceanic heat brought in by the Pacific water mainly stays in the Chukchi and Beaufort region, contributing to the warming of surface waters in that region. The heat is in constant contact with the ice cover in the region in July through September. Thus the Pacific water plays a role in ice melting in the Chukchi and Beaufort region all summer long in 2007, likely contributing to up to O. 5 m per month additional ice melting in some area of that region.展开更多

文摘We review the status of solar Lyαscience in anticipation of the upcoming Advanced Spacebased Solar Observatory(ASO-S)mission,planned for a late 2021(or 2022)launch.The mission carries a pair of the LyαSolar Telescopes(LST)capable of high resolution disk and off-limb imaging, which will provide the first synoptic Lyαimaging observations of the solar atmosphere. We discuss the history of Lyαimaging and latest results, and outline the open questions that ASO-S could address.ASO-S will launch at an optimal time for Lyαscience.Several other Lyαtelescopes will be in operation. We identify the synergies between ASO-S and other missions as well as serendipitous non-solar science opportunities. We conclude that ASO-S has the potential for breakthrough observations and discoveries in the chromosphere-corona interface where the Lyαemission is the major player.
文摘For the chip integration of MEMS(micro-electromechanical system) safety and arming device, a miniature detonator needs to be developed to reduce the weight and volume of explosive train. A Si-based micro-detonator is designed and fabricated, which meets the requirement of MEMS safety and arming device. The firing sensitivity of micro-detonator is tested according to GJB/z377A-94 sensitivity test methods:Langlie. The function time of micro-detonator is measured using wire probe and photoelectric transducer. The result shows the average firing voltage is 6.4 V when the discharge capacitance of firing electro-circuit is 33 mF. And the average function time is 5.48 ms. The firing energy actually utilized by Si-based micro-detonator is explored.

文摘As an essential component of ammunition, pyrotechnics can control ignition with high reliability. However, due to limits of fabrication technology, traditional pyrotechnics are bulky. In arming condition, the lead charge will be detonated.

文摘Diseases and injuries to the nervous system can lead to a devastating chronic pain condition called neuropathic pain.We review changes that occur in the peripheral nervous system that may play a role in this disease.Common animal models for neuropathic pain involve an injury to one or more peripheral nerves.Following such an injury, the nerve fibers that have been injured exhibit many abnormal properties including the development of spontaneous neural activity as well as a change in the expression of certain genes in their cell body.Recent data indicate that adjacent, uninjured nerve fibers also exhibit significant changes. These changes are thought to be driven by injury-induced alterations in the milieu surrounding the uninjured nerve and nerve terminals. Thus, alteration in neural signaling in both injured and uninjured neurons play a role in the development of neuropathic pain after peripheral nerve injury.

文摘HNS-IV(Hexanitrostilbene-IV) is the main charge of the exploding foil initiators(EFI), and the microstructure of the HNS will directly affect its density, flowability, sensitivity, and stability. This will contribute to the miniaturization and low cost of EFI.
文摘A European Space Agency' s ENVISAT advanced synthetic aperture radar (ASAR) image covering Zhejiang coastal water in the East China Sea (ECS) was acquired on 1 August 2007. The observed ISWs in the ECS happened during a spring tide period.

文摘We demonstrate here that global-scale determination of a key ionospheric parameter, the peak height of the F_(2)region(h_(m)F_(2)),can be obtained by making a simple ratio measurement of the atomic oxygen 130.4 and 135.6 nm emissions in the far-ultraviolet nightglow with a nadir-viewing system such as a pair of photometers suitable for flight on a CubeSat.We further demonstrate that measurements from an altitude that is within the typical range of nighttime h_(m)F_(2)250−450 km can provide the ratios that are needed for retrieval of the h_(m)F_(2).Our study is conducted mostly through numerical simulations by using radiative transfer models of the two emissions coupled with empirical models of the atmosphere and ionosphere.Modeling results show that the relationship between the h_(m)F_(2)and the intensity ratio is sensitive to the altitude from which the emissions are observed, primarily because of the distinctly different degrees of resonant scattering of the two emissions in the atmosphere.A roughly quadratic relationship can be established for observations from an orbit of~400 km,which enables h_(m)F_(2)retrieval.Parametric analysis indicates that the relationship can be affected by the ambient atmospheric conditions through resonant scattering and O2 absorption. For typical nighttime conditions with h_(m)F_(2)250−450 km,retrieval of the h_(m)F_(2)from synthetic observations shows that the typical errors are only a few kilometers(up to~20 km),depending on the accuracy of the ambient conditions predicted by the empirical models. Our findings pave the way for use of the 130.4/135.6 nm intensity ratios for global-scale monitoring of the nighttime ionosphere at mid to low latitudes.

文摘The dynamic behaviour of SonoVue microbubbles, a new generation ultrasound contrast agent, is investigated in real time with light scattering method. By fitting the experimental data of individual bubble responses with Sarkar's model, the shell coating parameter of the bubbles and dilatational viscosity is estimated to be 7.0 nm-s-Pa.

文摘Hyperthermia effects (39-44 ℃) induced by pulsed high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) have been regarded as a promising therapeutic tool for boosting immune responses or enhancing drug delivery into a solid tumor. The results show that: (1) with constant pulse repetition frequency (PRF) (e.g., 1 Hz), the thermal responses inside the vessel will increase with the increasing duty ratio; (2) a temperature elevation to 43 ℃ can be identified at the duty ratio of 4.3%; (3) with constant duty ratios, the change of PRF will not significantly affect the temperature measurement in the vessel; (4) as the duty ratios lower than 4.3%, the presence of microbubbles will not significantly enhance the thermal responses in the vessel, but will facilitate HIFU-induced inertial cavitation events.

文摘A model study is conducted to examine the role of Pacific water in the dramatic retreat of arctic sea ice during summer 2007. 5 m per month additional ice melting in some area of that region.

文摘The dune aurora,at a scale of~30 kilometers, was reported recently using ground camera. The small-scale dune aurora occurs on the duskside and exhibits a monochromatic oscillation in the auroral emission, implying fundamental energy conversions. However, whether the dune auroras correspond to atmospheric waves or are associated with magnetospheric dynamics should be determined. This paper reports a dune aurora that occurred during a storm;further,we demonstrate that it was the substructure of the sawtooth aurora that was generated by plasmapause surface waves.Conjugate observations in the magnetospheric source region suggest that the exohiss waves, which are periodically modulated by the plasmapause surface wave-excited ultralow frequency wave, might be responsible for the generation of the dune aurora. Most reported dune aurora events have occurred simultaneously with sawtooth auroras, suggesting that both are plasmapause-driven cross-scale auroral structures.
