Objectives:People living with severe mental illness have a reduced life expectancy when compared to the general population largely due to physical health comorbidities.Exercise is a valuable,evidence-based component of mental healthcare, with positive effects on physical health, mental health, and quality of life. However,to date, there is limited evidence regarding the implementation of varied styles of supported exercise therapy within outpatient, transdiagnostic mental health services. This protocol paper outlines the methods for a hybrid effectiveness-implementation trial implementing two styles of supported exercise within an outpatient mental health hospital. Methods:Participants will be allocated to either in-person supervised exercise sessions,or independent, remotely supported exercise programs. Both intervention arms will have the target of 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise per week across the 12-week intervention period, along with a 12-week maintenance period following the intervention periods.Assessments will be conducted at intake, intervention midpoint(i.e.,week 6–7),intervention conclusion(i.e.,week 13),and at follow-up(i.e.,week 25).Results:The evaluation of the exercise interventions will consist of implementation and effectiveness outcomes during the intervention and at follow-up.Conclusions:The outcomes from this trial will add to the ever-increasing evidence for the incorporation of exercise within care for severe mental illness. This trial will report on the implementation and effectiveness of varied levels of support in exercise therapy for consumers with severe mental illness, which may in turn guide the future implementation and improve provision of exercise therapy in hospital mental health services. 展开更多

Background:The period following pregnancy is a critical time window when future habits with respect to physical activity(PA) and sedentary behavior(SB) are established;therefore,it warrants guidance. The purpose of this scoping review was to summarize public health-oriented country-specific postpartum PA and SB guidelines worldwide. Methods:To identity guidelines published since 2010,we performed a(a) systematic search of 4 databases(CINAHL,Global Health,PubMed,and SPORTDiscus),(b) structured repeatable web-based search separately for 194 countries, and(c) separate web-based search.Only the most recent guideline was included for each country. Results:We identified 22 countries with public health-oriented postpartum guidelines for PA and 11 countries with SB guidelines. The continents with guidelines included Europe(n=12),Asia(n=5),Oceania(n=2),Africa(n=1),North America(n=1),and South America(n=1).The most common benefits recorded for PA included weight control/management(n=10),reducing the risk of postpartum depression or depressive symptoms(n=9),and improving mood/well-being(n=8).Postpartum guidelines specified exercises to engage in,including pelvic floor exercises(n=17);muscle strengthening, weight training,or resistance exercises(n=13);aerobics/general aerobic activity(n=13);walking(n=11);cycling(n=9);and swimming(n=9).Eleven guidelines remarked on the interaction between PA and breastfeeding;several guidelines stated that PA did not impact breast milk quantity(n=7),breast milk quality(n=6),or infant growth(n=3).For SB,suggestions included limiting long-term sitting and interrupting sitting with PA.Conclusion:Country-specific postpartum guidelines for PA and SB can help promote healthy behaviors using a culturally appropriate context while providing specific guidance to public health practitioners. 展开更多

Purpose:This study aimed to examine the usage, acceptability, usability, perceived usefulness, and satisfaction of a web-based video-tailored physical activity(PA)intervention(TaylorActive)in adults. Methods:In 2013-2014,501 Australian adults aged 18+years were randomized into a video-tailored intervention,text-tailored intervention,or control group.Over 3 months, the intervention groups received access to 8 sessions of personally tailored PA advice delivered via the TaylorActive website.Only the delivery method differed between the intervention groups:video-tailored vs.text-tailored.Google Analytics and telephone surveys conducted at post intervention(3 months)were used to assess intervention usage, acceptability, usability, perceived usefulness, and satisfaction.Quantitative and qualitative process data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic content analysis. Results:Of 501 recruited adults,259 completed the 3-month post-intervention survey(52%retention).Overall,usage of the TaylorActive website with respect to number of website visits, intervention sessions, and action plans completed was modest in both the video-tailored(7.6士7.2 visits, mean±SD)and text-tailored(7.3±5.4 visits)groups with no significant between-group differences. The majority of participants in all groups used the TaylorActive website less than once in 2 weeks(66.7%video-tailored,62.7%text-tailored,87.5%control;p<0.001).Acceptability was rated mostly high in all groups and in some instances, significantly higher in the intervention groups compared to the control group(p<0.010).Usability was also rated high;mean Systems Usability Scores were 77.3(video-tailored),75.7(text-tailored),and 74.1(control)with no significant between-group differences.Perceived usefulness of the TaylorActive intervention was low, though mostly rated higher in the intervention groups compared to the control group(p<0.010).Satisfaction with the TaylorActive website was mixed.Participants in both intervention groups liked its ease of use, personalized feedback, and tracking of progress, but also found completing action plans and survey questions for each session repetitive and tedious. Conclusion:Providing personally tailored PA advice on its own(through either video or text)is likely insufficient to ensure good retention, usage, perceived usefulness, and satisfaction with a web-based PA intervention.Strategies to address this may include the incorporation of additional intervention components such as activity trackers, social interactions, gamification,as well as the use of advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to allow more personalized dialogue with participants. 展开更多

Studies investigating correlates of physical activity(PA)using objective PA measurements among primary schoolaged children are limited in Asia, particularly Vietnam. This study examined psychosocial and environmental factors associated with PA among fifth-grade students in eight primary schools in Ho Chi Minh city,Vietnam.Bivariate analyses showed that for every month increase in students’age,an increase of 66 steps/day(p<0.05)was found;boys had 1442 more steps/day than girls(p<0.001);and students from lower income households had 1169 steps/day less than those from higher income households(p<0.01).For every unit increase in self-efficacy,perceived social influences, intention to be physically active, and parental support for PA,an increase of 220,200,522,and 117 steps/day(p<0.01)was found respectively. In multivariable analysis, only intention and parental support for PA remained significant(p<0.01).About 21%of variation in daily steps was explained by demographic characteristics and an additional 13%by psychosocial influences. In conclusion, intention to be physically active and parental support are important factors and should be considered when designing PA interventions in school/community-based settings. 展开更多
