Both the remanence and sintering density of the magnets increased slightly with intergranular additions of MgO and ZnO. There was a remarkable increase in coercivity of Nd22Fe71B7 after addition. Besides, the effects on magnetic properties and an improved corrosion resistance were observed. Compared with the native magnets without addition, corrosion potential of the magnets with MgO and ZnO additives was more positive and the current density in the anodic branch of the polarization curve was reduced. Corrosion resistance resulting from autoclave testing (2×10^5 Pa of steam pressure, 120 ℃) showed that the corrosion rate of NdFeB magnets reduced with the increase of additive amount. Microstructure observation revealed that MgO and ZnO additives were incorporated into the intergranular phases in the magnets. With the introduction of MgO and ZnO, more intergranular phase with high oxygen content was formed while keeping the volume fraction of all the intergranular phases almost unchanged, which may contribute to improved corrosion resistance. Furthermore, addition of MgO and ZnO refined the grain size of Nd22Fe71B7.展开更多

Flow behavior of this alloy was investigated and it was realized that dynamic recrystallization (DRX) was responsible for flow softening. The correlation between critical strain for initiation of DRX and de- formation parameters including temperature and strain rate, and therefore, Zener-Hollomon parameter (Z) was studied. Metallographic observation was performed to determine the as-deformed microstructure. Microstructural observation shows that recrystallized grain size increases with increasing the temperature and decreasing the strain rate. The activation energy required for DRX of the investigated steel was determined using correlations of flow stress versus temperature and strain rate. The calculated value of activation energy, 460 kJ/mol, is in accordance with other studies on stainless steels. The relationship between peak strain and Z parameter is proposed.展开更多

Results indicate that the structure of the solution-treated specimens mainly comprises of austenite-martensite, and adding V leads to the formation of a consid erable amount of ferrite. Under this condition, austenite phase is not mechanically stable, and transforms to martensite by plastic deformation. The addition of 0.5% - 1.0% (in mass percent) of V increases the hardness and the strength of the 80% cold rolled and aged steel, without any effect on ductility. Improvement in mechanical properties is presumably attributed to the formation of a small amount of ferrite in the primary structure, and the formation of certain precipitates is accelerated by the addition of V during aging. By contrast, excessive V decreases the strength and ductility simultaneously. This is due to the strong effect of ferrite formation compared to the beneficial effect of precipitation. The loss of ductility caused by adding higher amount of V is due to the formation of ferrite phases which in turn are suitable nucleation sites for crack propagation.展开更多

Nanocrystalline MgAl2O4 spinel with high specific surface area was synthesized by a co-precipitation method with the addition of pluronic P123 triblock copolymer as surfactant, and employed as catalyst support. The prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 adsorption, H2 chemisorption, temperature-programmed reduction (TPR), temperature-programmed oxidation (TPO), temperature- programmed desorption (TPD) and transmission and scanning electron microscopies (TEM, SEM) techniques. Textural and acidic properties of γ-alumina samples are characterized by XRD, N2 adsorption-desorption and NH3-TPD techniques. Vapor-phase dehydration of methanol into dimethyl ether is carried out over these samples. Among them, sample C shows the highest catalytic activity. NH3-TPD analysis reveals that the sample with smaller crystallite size possesses higher concentration of medium acidic sites and consequently higher catalytic activity. The effects of current density (CD) on microhardness, structure, composition and surface topography of the oxide layer formed at various CDs (0.1-0.25 A/cm^2) have been studied. Crystalline coatings formed at 0.25 A/cm^2 have been (width 95 nm) observed with a relatively uniform distribution confirmed by scanning electron microscopy. Additionally, the average microhardness value of ceramic nanocomposite coatings fabricated from lithium sulphate-zirconium silicate bath is approximately 8.5 times higher than that of the as-received aluminium. Bioautography is a means of target-directed isolation of active molecules on chromatogram. Organic solvents employed in chromatographic separation process can be completely removed before biological detection because these solvents cause inactivation of enzymes and/or death of living organisms. They offer a rapid and easy identification of bioactive lead/scaffolds in complex matrices of plant extracts. Bioautography is a technique to isolate hit(s)/lead(s) by employing a suitable chromatographic process followed by a biological detection system. This review critically describes the methodologies to identify antimicrobial, antioxidant, enzyme inhibitor lead/scaffolds by employing bioautography. The role of substrate becomes very important in film deposition as well as in controlling their properties due to strain induced properties modification and lattice mismatch. CuS/PVA nanocomposite thin films were successfully deposited on glass and silicon substrates using sol-gel technique. Thin films were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), UV-visible (UV-VIS) and Raman spectroscopy. Structural data confirm the amorphous nature of as grown films which transform into crystalline films after annealing at 200°C. The degree of crystallinity seems to be better in film deposited on silicon substrate in comparison to those grown over glass substrate with average crystallite sizes ≅?4.00 nm and 7.00 nm for films deposited on glass and silicon substrate respectively. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) images in dynamic as well as contact modes display nanoparticles embedded in polymer network. The films surface roughness parameters quantitatively estimated from AFM micrographs are compared. Raman spectra show a sharp peak at ≅474 cm¯1 assigned to S-S stretching mode of S2 ions in films grown on both substrates and associated as due to presence of hexagonal (covellite) crystal structure. Optical band gaps of thin film on glass and silicon substrate are 2.10 eV and 2.02 eV respectively. The effect of substrate on the measured properties is discussed.展开更多

Effects of adsorption time, adsorbent dose, pH of the solution, initial concentration of fluoride, and temperature of the solution were studied with equilibrium, ther- modynamics and kinetics of the adsorption process by various CTNSC adsorbents. It showed that the chemically activated CTNSCs can effectively remove fluoride from the solution. The adsorption equilibrium data correlate well with the Freundlich isotherm model. The adsorption of fluoride by the chemically activated CTNSC is spon- taneous and endothermic in nature. The pseudo first order, pseudo second order and intra particle diffusion kinetic models were applied to test the experimental data. The pseudo second order kinetic model provided a better correlation of the experimental data in comparison with the pseudo-first-order and intra particle diffusion models, A mechanism of fluoride adsorption associating chemisorption and physisorption processes is presented allowing the discussion of the variations in adsorption behavior between these materials in terms of specific surface area and porosity. These data suggest that chemically activated CTNSCs are promising materials for fluoride somtion.展开更多

In particular, the effects of a range of preparation variables such as pH value when precipitation, aging temperature, precipitation agent type and aging time are investigated on the catalytic performance of synthesized Fe-Co oxides in CO oxidation reaction. In addition, the preparation factors were optimized by Taguchi design method. The optimized sample was characterized by XRD, N2 adsortion/desorption, TEM and TGA/DTA techniques. The results reveal that the optimized sample shows a mesoporous structure with a narrow pore size distribution centered in the range of 2-7 nm. The sample prepared under optimized conditions has high activity and stability toward removal of carbon monoxide at lower temperatures. It is shown that different preparation variables influence the catalytic performance of Fe-Co oxide in CO oxidation reaction.
文摘Medicinal plants, vegetables and fruits are the sources of huge number of bioactive lead/scaffolds with therapeutic and nutraceutical importance. A significant number of examples have been incorporated to authenticate the methodologies.

文摘Nanocrystalline MgO with a relatively high surface area and mesoporous structure was synthesized by a surfactant assisted precipitation method for use as the support of nickel catalysts for steam reforming of methane. The samples were characterized by X‐ray diffraction, N2 adsorption, temperature‐programmed reduction, temperature‐programmed oxidation, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The catalysts showed high catalytic activity and good stability in the steam reforming of methane. Increasing the nickel loading up to 10 wt% gave increased activity. Catalysts with higher nickel loadings showed more deposited carbon after reaction. The excellent anti‐coking performance of the catalysts was attributed to the formation of a nickel‐magnesia solid solution, basicity of the support surface, and nickel‐support interaction.
文摘Transition metal chalcogenide nanocomposite thin films deposited by chemical routes are currently attracting wide attention being inexpensive, simple and have utility for large area applications. The effect of substrate on the measured properties is discussed.

文摘Nanostructured -y-A12O3 with high surface area and mesoporous structure was synthesized by sol-gel method and employed as catalyst support for nickel catalysts in methane reforming with carbon dioxide. The prepared samples were characterized by XRD, N2 adsorption-desorption, TPR, TPO, TPH, NH3-TPD and SEM techniques. The BET analysis showed a high surface area of 204 m2.g-1 and a narrow pore-size distribution centered at a diameter of 5.5 nm for catalyst support. The BET results revealed that addition of lanthanum oxide to aluminum oxide decreased the specific surface area. In addition, TPR results showed that addition of lanthanum oxide increased the reducibility of nickel catalyst. The catalytic evaluation results showed an increase in methane conversion with increasing lanthanum oxide to 3 mol% and further increase in lanthanum content decreased the catalytic activity. TPO analysis revealed that the coke deposition decreased with increasing lanthanum oxide to 3 mol%. SEM and TPH analyses confirmed the formation of whisker type carbon over the spent catalysts. Addition of steam and Oxide to drv reformin feed increased the methane conversion and led to carbon free ooeration in combined orocesses.

文摘Chemically activated cotton nut shell carbons (CTNSCs) were prepared by different chemicals and they were used for the removal of fluoride from aqueous solution. These data suggest that chemically activated CTNSCs are promising materials for fluoride somtion.
