In treatment group, the back-shu points of five zang organs were adopted for acupuncture. Shènshū(肾俞 BL23) was perpendicularly needled 15-30 mm in depth. The rest of the selected points were inserted obliquely 15-30 mm in the direction of the spine with even method of lifting-thrusting and twisting-twirling, 10 s for each acupoint. In control group, the acupoints were approximately 1.5-2 cm away outward from the back-shu points of five zang organs(about on the middle of the two sidelines of the bladder meridian of foottaiyang) and the points from the bladder meridian of foot-taiyang were excluded. Acupoints were needled6-9 mm in depth, and deqi was not required, without any manipulation. The treatments were carried out twice a week for twenty minutes each time, a total of eight treatments were given. The clinical efficacy of acupuncture treatment for CFS was evaluated through the Fatigue Scale-14(FS-14) and the Symptom Check-List 90(SCL-90) after treatment. Results: The total effective rate was 86.67% in the treatment group and 53.33% in the control group(P<0.01). In treatment group, FS-14 total scores, somatic fatigue scores, and mental fatigue scores were significantly reduced than before treatment(all P<0.01). In control group, FS-14 total scores and somatic fatigue scores were significantly reduced(both P<0.01). The improvement of FS-14 total scores, somatic fatigue scores, and mental fatigue scores in the treatment group were better than those in the control group(P<0.01, P<0.05). After treatment, SCL-90 total scores and somatization, compulsion, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, hostility, psychoticism, and other factors scores were significantly reduced in the treatment group compared with before treatment(P<0.01). In control group, the SCL-90 total scores and the scores of somatization, compulsion, hostility, and other factors after treatment were lower than those before treatment(P< 0.01). The total scores of SCL-90 and somatization, compulsion, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, psychoticism, and other factors in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P< 0.01, P< 0.05).Conclusions: Acupuncture on back-shu points of five zang can significantly improve the somatic fatigue and mental fatigue of the patients, and at the same time improve their psychological status. Significant therapeutic effect was found on CFS. Compared with the control group, the acupuncture treatment can significantly improve the patient’s somatic fatigue, mental fatigue and psychological status.展开更多

However, it is unclear whether electroacupuncture alters mi RNA expression in the cortex. In this study, we examined changes in the cerebral cortical mi RNA profile, cerebral blood flow and neurological function induced by electroacupuncture in a rat model of stroke. Electroacupuncture was performed at Renzhong(GV26) and Neiguan(PC6), with a frequency of 2 Hz, continuous wave, current intensity of 3.0 m A, and stimulation time of 1 minute. Electroacupuncture increased cerebral blood flow and alleviated neurological impairment in the rats. mi RNA microarray profiling revealed that the vascular endothelial growth factor signaling pathway, which links cell proliferation with stroke, was most significantly affected by electroacupuncture. Electroacupuncture induced changes in expression of rno-mi R-206-3p, rno-mi R-3473, rno-mi R-6216 and rno-mi R-494-3p, and these changes were confirmed by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. Our findings suggest that changes in cell proliferation-associated mi RNA expression induced by electroacupuncture might be associated with the improved cerebral blood supply and functional recovery following stroke.展开更多

The attack usually lasts for 1 to 2 minutes with different intervals. The patient’s life quality can be seriously affected. It is mainly treated with orally taken drugs in western internal department but without satisfactory result, and with local closing therapy in surgical department. The problem may reoccur half a year later in most patients complicated with facial paralysis, so western medicine is not likely to be accepted by the patients. The author has tried to apply abdominal acupuncture in the treatment of 25 cases of trigeminal neuralgia with good effect. The result is as follows.展开更多

Our findings suggest that changes in cell proliferation-associated mi RNA expression induced by electroacupuncture might be associated with the improved cerebral blood supply and functional recovery following stroke.
文摘Objective: To compare the therapeutic effects of acupuncture and western medicine on spontaneous polyhidrosis. Methods: Acupuncture at Huatuojiaji points was used to treat 30 cases of spontaneous polyhidrosis and the western medicine was used to treat 26 cases for comparison. Results: The total effective rate of the former was 96.7% and that of the latter 57.7%. The difference in therapeutic effect between the two groups was significant (P〈0.01). Conclusion: The therapeutic effect of acupuncture at Huatuojiaji points on spontaneous nolyhidrosis was better than that of western medicine.
文摘Pseudobulbar paralysis is a kind of common clinical syndromes of cerebral vascular diseases, which is manifested as dyslalia, dysphagia and choking. By several-year clinical observations, 36 cases were treated with satisfactory therapeutic effects as reported in the following.Clinical DataOf 36 in-patients, there were 24 males and 12 females, aged from 44 to 81 years, averaging 64.92 years. Of 36 cases, 24 were at the acute stage and 12 at the recovery stage. All the cases were diagnosed as cerebral vascular diseases by cranial CT scan and MRI, of which, 4 were cerebral infarction, 26 lacunar cerebral infarction, 5 cerebral hemorrhage and 1 mixed type. Of 36 cases, 15 were the first attack of wind-stroke, 15 the second attack, 5 the third attack and 1 the forth attack. There were 26 patients with hypertension among 36 cases, of which, 8 patients suffered from hypertension within 10 years, 6 for more than 10 years, 9 for more than 20 years and 3 for more than 30 years. All the 36 cases were associated with dysphagia and agreeable to Standard on Diagnosis and Evaluation of Therapeutic Effects of Wind-stroke issued by the State Scientific Committee 85-919-01-01, 1995.
文摘In recent years, the authors have treated 30 cases of acute lumbar sprain by acupuncture combined with point medicinal injection at Tianzhu (BL 10), and obtained quite good therapeutic results, as is reported in the following.
文摘Persistent facial paralysis is present after failure of six months’ treatment of peripheral facial paralysis, with sequelae such as deviation of the mouth and eye. Since 1983, the intermittent lifting and the uniform reinforcing-reducing methods have been applied for comparison in the treatment of 310 cases of persistent facial paralysis, with satisfactory results reported as follows.

文摘Brain injury due to intrauterine growth restriction(IUGR) is a thorny clinical problem that often leads to permanent neurological deficits such as cerebral palsy.Few practical therapies can treat an IUGR-associated brain injury. We employed acupuncture to treat a 6-month-old male patient with severe hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE) due to IUGR,as confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).Three courses of acupuncture treatment significantly improved some of the patient’s clinical characteristics, such as his insensitive responsiveness and motor deficits, with remarkably reversed HIE features on MRI at 1-year of age. This case suggests that acupuncture is a potential treatment option for an IUGRassociated brain injury and warrants further investigation.
文摘Effective treatment of bronchial asthmawith various methods of acupuncture has beenreported in the literature. The present articlediscusses the results of the treatment of bron-chial asthma(BA)and chronic senile bronchitis(CSB)according to the phenomenon of needlingsensation reaching the site of disease during acu-puncture.
文摘Facial paralysis refers to peripheral facial paralysis characterized by deviation of the mouth and eye, which may occur at any time of a year, especially in winter and spring. The incidence is higher in the young and middleaged people, more frequently affecting the males than females. Modem medical
文摘With electro-acupuncture, red-hot needling and TDP irradiation, we have successfully treated 23 cases of chronic pelvic inflammation. A report follows.
文摘In treating children with mongolism(Down’s syndrome)with electroacupuncture, thelatent period of P3 is shortened, which shows that the cerebral reaction to externalstimulus in classification, encoding and recognition is accelerated.Along with the elevatedP3 amplitude, the cerebrum is more capable of processing the external information, showing improvement of the mental state.
文摘Thirty-six cases of cholelithiasis were treated by acupuncture at the Back-Shu and Front-Mu points plus oral decoction. The total effective rate was 97.2%, and the cured plus markedly effective rate was 83.3%, which were much better than those of 83.3% and 52.8% in the control group of 36 cases treated with oral decoction alone. The statistical differences between the two groups were respectively P<0.05 and P<0.01.
文摘Trigeminal Neuralgia is often found in female between 40-60 years old, marked by sudden severe pain on the face (a feeling of knife cutting, electric shock), and it is characterized by sudden, paroxysmal and periodical attack and triggered by touch). The result is as follows.
