BACKGROUND Return to work(RTW)serves as an indication for young and middle-aged colorectal cancer(CRC)survivors to resume their normal social lives.However,these survivors encounter significant challenges during their RTW process.Hence,scientific research is necessary to explore the barriers and facilitating factors of returning to work for young and middle-aged CRC survivors.AIM To examine the current RTW status among young and middle-aged CRC survivors and to analyze the impact of RTW self-efficacy(RTW-SE),fear of progression(FoP),eHealth literacy(eHL),family resilience(FR),and financial toxicity(FT)on their RTW outcomes.METHODS A cross-sectional investigation was adopted in this study.From September 2022 to February 2023,a total of 209 participants were recruited through a convenience sampling method from the gastrointestinal surgery department of a class A tertiary hospital in Chongqing.The investigation utilized a general information questionnaire alongside scales assessing RTW-SE,FoP,eHL,FR,and FT.To analyze the factors that influence RTW outcomes among young and middle-aged CRC survivors,Cox regression modeling and Kaplan-Meier survival analysis were used.RESULTS A total of 43.54%of the participants successfully returned to work,with an average RTW time of 100 days.Cox regression univariate analysis revealed that RTW-SE,FoP,eHL,FR,and FT were significantly different between the non-RTW and RTW groups(P<0.05).Furthermore,Cox regression multivariate analysis identified per capita family monthly income,job type,RTW-SE,and FR as independent influencing factors for RTW(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The RTW rate requires further improvement.Elevated levels of RTW-SE and FR were found to significantly increase RTW among young and middle-aged CRC survivors.Health professionals should focus on modifiable factors,such as RTW-SE and FR,to design targeted RTW support programs,thereby facilitating their timely reintegration into mainstream society. 展开更多

Objective To identify the key features of facial and tongue images associated with anemia in female populations,establish anemia risk-screening models,and evaluate their performance.Methods A total of 533 female participants(anemic and healthy)were recruited from Shuguang Hospital.Facial and tongue images were collected using the TFDA-1 tongue and face diagnosis instrument.Color and texture features from various parts of facial and tongue images were extracted using Face Diagnosis Analysis System(FDAS)and Tongue Diagnosis Analysis System version 2.0(TDAS v2.0).Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator(LASSO)regression was used for feature selection.Ten machine learning models and one deep learning model(ResNet50V2+Conv1D)were developed and evaluated.Results Anemic women showed lower a-values,higher L-and b-values across all age groups.Texture features analysis showed that women aged 30–39 with anemia had higher angular second moment(ASM)and lower entropy(ENT)values in facial images,while those aged 40–49 had lower contrast(CON),ENT,and MEAN values in tongue images but higher ASM.Anemic women exhibited age-related trends similar to healthy women,with decreasing L-values and increasing a-,b-,and ASM-values.LASSO identified 19 key features from 62.Among classifiers,the Artificial Neural Network(ANN)model achieved the best performance[area under the curve(AUC):0.849,accuracy:0.781].The ResNet50V2 model achieved comparable results[AUC:0.846,accuracy:0.818].Conclusion Differences in facial and tongue images suggest that color and texture features can serve as potential TCM phenotype and auxiliary diagnostic indicators for female anemia. 展开更多

This research investigates the bending response of folded multi-celled tubes(FMTs)fabricated by folded metal sheets.A three-point bending test for FMTs with circular and square sections is designed and introduced.The base numerical models are correlated with physical experiments and a static crashworthiness analysis of six FMT configurations to assess their energy absorption characteristics.The influences of thickness,sectional shape,and load direction on the bending response are studied.Results indicate that increasing the thickness of the tube and radian of the inner tube enhances the crashworthiness performance of FMT,yielding a 20.50%increase in mean crushing force,a 55.53%increase in specific energy absorption,and an 18.05%decrease in peak crushing force compared to traditional multi-celled tubes(TMTs).A theoretical analysis of the specific energy absorption indicates that FMTs outperform TMTs,particularly when the peak crushing force is prominent.This study highlights the innovative and practical potential of FMTs to improve the crashworthiness of thin-walled structures. 展开更多

Bistorta vivipara is a facultative reproductive plant capable of asexual reproduction through underground rhizomes and bulbils,as well as sexual reproduction via seeds.The phenomenon of vegetative organ vivipary is a complex biological process regulated by a network of genes.However,the developmental mechanism regulating bulbil vivipary in B.vivipara remains largely unexplored.This study investigated different developmental stages of B.vivipara using RNA sequencing and transcriptome analysis.Approximately 438 million high-quality reads were generated,with over 61.65%of the data mapped to the de novo transcriptome sequence.A total of 154,813 reads were matched in at least one public database,and 49,731 genes were differentially expressed across developmental stages.Functional analysis revealed significant enrichment of these genes in phenylpropanoid biosynthesis,plant hormone signal transduction,protein processing,starch and sucrose metabolism,and plant-pathogen interaction.Ninety-four genes involved in phytohormones,plant pigments,enzymes,and transcription factors were identified as potential candidates for inducing vegetative organ vivipary.These differentially expressed genes(DEGs),detected through comparative transcriptome analysis,may serve as candidate genes for bulbil vivipary in B.vivipara,establishing a foundation for future studies on the molecular mechanisms underlying vegetative organ vivipary. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Although thymopoietin(TMPO)has been elucidated to be overexpressed in cancers,its underlying mechanisms are not yet fully understood.AIM To investigate the expression and clinical significance of TMPO in papillary thyroid carcinoma(PTC).METHODS Databases such as Gene Expression Omnibus,The Cancer Genome Atlas Proand summary receiver operating characteristic curves were plotted to evaluate diagnostic performance.A Gene Set Enrichment Analysis enrichment analysis was conducted to identify TMPO-related signaling pathways.A protein interaction network was constructed to identify hub genes.The impact of TMPO on PTC cell proliferation and the effects of its knockout were analyzed using clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR)knockout screening and the Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia database.RESULTS The TMPO protein was significantly overexpressed in PTC tissues,primarily localized in the cytoplasm and nuclear membrane.The mRNA level analysis showed mild overexpression of TMPO in PTC tissues,with a certain discriminatory value(area under the curve=0.66).TMPO may promote cancer through involvement in cell adhesion,focal adhesion,leukocyte migration,and multiple cancer-related signaling pathways.Additionally,CRISPR gene knockout experiments confirmed that TMPO knockout significantly inhibited the proliferation of PTC cell lines,indicating its important role in tumor growth.CONCLUSION TMPO is overexpressed in PTC and may serve as a therapeutic target and molecular biomarker for PTC. 展开更多

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the available evidence from randomized controlled trials(RCTs)of moxibustion alone for lumbar disc herniation(LDH)treatment.METHODS:A systematic search of 10 databases(until August 30,2021)was used to identify studies that reported the response rate,visual analogue scale(VAS)score,Japanese Orthopedic Association(JOA)score,and Oswestry Disability Index(ODI)score.Study selection and data extraction were independently performed by two reviewers.Cochrane criteria for risk of bias were used to assess the methodological quality of the trials.The Grading of Recommendations Assessment,Development,and Evaluation Methodology(GRADE)were also used to test the quality of the result evidence.RESULTS:Nineteen RCTs,including 1888 patients,met the inclusion criteria.Five studies showed no difference between moxibustion and acupuncture on response rate[risk ratio(RR)=1.07,95%CI(0.98,1.16),P=0.11].Meanwhile,six studies suggested that there is no significant difference between moxibustion and acupuncture on VAS score[mean difference(MD)=-0.43,95%CI(-0.91,0.05),P=0.08].Eight studies implied that there is no significant difference between moxibustion and acupuncture on JOA score[MD=0.84,95%CI(-1.27,2.96),P=0.44].Two studies indicated that moxibustion may have equivalent effects for treating LDH in the VAS score in comparison with drug therapy[MD=-1.16,95%CI(-2.63,0.31),P=0.12].The evidence level of results was determined to be very low to low.CONCLUSIONS:Based on the existing evidence,moxibustion may not be suitable for treating LDH alone,but it may be applied as an adjuvant treatment.Furthermore,well-designed RCTs with high quality and larger samples are still needed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of moxibustion alone for LDH treatment. 展开更多

Thymosin alpha 1 is a peptide naturally occurring in the thymus that has long been recognized for modifying,enhancing,and restoring immune function.Thymosin alpha 1 has been utilized in the treatment of immunocompromised states and malignancies,as an enhancer of vaccine response,and as a means of curbing morbidity and mortality in sepsis and numerous infections.Studies have postulated that thymosin alpha 1 could help improve the outcome in severely ill corona virus disease 2019 patients by repairing damage caused by overactivation of lymphocytic immunity and how thymosin alpha 1 could prevent the excessive activation of T cells.In this review,we discuss key literature on the background knowledge and current clinical uses of thymosin alpha 1.Considering the known biochemical properties including antibacterial and antiviral properties,timehonored applications,and the new promising findings regarding the use of thymosin,we believe that thymosin alpha 1 deserves further investigation into its antiviral properties and possible repurposing as a treatment against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2. 展开更多

The Association of Socioeconomic Status with the Burden of Cataract-related Blindness and the Effect of Ultraviolet Radiation Exposure: An Ecological Study 被引量:10

Objective To assess the association of socioeconomic status with the burden of cataract blindness in terms of year lived with disability(YLD) rates and to determine whether ultraviolet radiation(UVR) levels modify the effect of socioeconomic status on this health burden.Methods National and subnational age-standardized YLD rates associated with cataract-related blindness were derived from the Global Burden of Disease(GBD) study 2017. The human development index(HDI) from the Human Development Report was used as a measure of socioeconomic status.Estimated ground-level UVR exposure was obtained from the Ozone Monitoring Instrument(OMI)dataset of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA).Results Across 185 countries, socioeconomic status was inversely associated with the burden of cataract blindness. Countries with a very high HDI had an 84% lower age-standardized YLD rate [95%confidence interval(CI): 60%–93%, P < 0.001] than countries with a low HDI;for high-HDI countries, the proportion was 76%(95% CI: 53%–88%, P < 0.001), and for medium-HDI countries, the proportion was48%(95% CI: 15%–68%, P = 0.010;P for trend < 0.001). The interaction analysis showed that UVR exposure played an interactive role in the association between socioeconomic status and cataract blindness burden(P value for interaction = 0.047).Conclusion Long-term high-UVR exposure amplifies the association of poor socioeconomic status with the burden of cataract-related blindness. The findings emphasize the need for strengthening UVR exposure protection interventions in developing countries with high-UVR exposure. 展开更多

Recently, a new (2+1)-dimensional shallow water wave system, the (2+1)-dlmenslonal displacement shallow water wave system (2DDSWWS), was constructed by applying the variational principle of the analytic mechanics in the Lagrange coordinates. The disadvantage is that fluid viscidity is not considered in the 2DDSWWS, which is the same as the famous Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation and Korteweg-de Vries equation. Applying dimensional analysis, we modify the 2DDSWWS and add the term related to the fluid viscidity to the 2DDSWWS. The approximate similarity solutions of the modified 2DDSWWS (M2DDSWWS) is studied and four similarity solutions are obtained. For the perfect fluids, the coefficient of kinematic viscosity is zero, then the M2DDSWWS will degenerate to the 2DDSWWS. 展开更多

In the video-based surveillance application, moving shadows can affect the correct localization and detection of moving objects. This paper aims to present a method for shadow detection and suppression used for moving visual object detection. The major novelty of the shadow suppression is the integration of several features including photometric invariant color feature, motion edge feature, and spatial feature etc. By modifying process for false shadow detected, the averaging detection rate of moving object reaches above 90% in the test of Hall-Monitor sequence. 展开更多

The support materials are an important part of catalysts and they are the dispersant,adhesive,and support for other components.In this study,three types of thin films with different structures were used as the precursor to prepare loading Pd catalysts.The one-step dealloying method was used to prepare a semiconductor nanofiber film(NFF)support material with upward directional growth from the substrate.Pd/NFF and Pd/Ni O/NFF loaded Pd catalysts were prepared using NFF as the support material,and the electrochemical catalytic properties for ethanol oxidation in alkaline media were studied.Cyclic votammetry showed that the NFF support material effectively inhibited agglomeration of palladium,increased the number of active sites of Pd,and improved the electrocatalytic properties of Pd for ethanol oxidation.In addition,the Pd/Ni O/NFF loaded Pd catalyst obtained by modification with nickel oxide significantly improved the electrocatalytic performance for ethanol oxidation compared with the Pd/NFF loaded Pd catalyst.These results show that Ni O is conductive to absorption of oxygen-containing groups on the surface of the catalyst and can further improve the electrocatalytic ability of Pd for ethanol oxidation.All of the above results demonstrate that the support material prepared by the dealloying method has application prospects in load-type catalysts. 展开更多

In machine learning,randomness is a crucial factor in the success of ensemble learning,and it can be injected into tree-based ensembles by rotating the feature space.However,it is a common practice to rotate the feature space randomly.Thus,a large number of trees are required to ensure the performance of the ensemble model.This random rotation method is theoretically feasible,but it requires massive computing resources,potentially restricting its applications.A multimodal genetic algorithm based rotation forest(MGARF)algorithm is proposed in this paper to solve this problem.It is a tree-based ensemble learning algorithm for classification,taking advantage of the characteristic of trees to inject randomness by feature rotation.However,this algorithm attempts to select a subset of more diverse and accurate base learners using the multimodal optimization method.The classification accuracy of the proposed MGARF algorithm was evaluated by comparing it with the original random forest and random rotation ensemble methods on 23 UCI classification datasets.Experimental results show that the MGARF method outperforms the other methods,and the number of base learners in MGARF models is much fewer. 展开更多

In the course of vehicle license plate (VLP) automatic recognition, tilt correction is a very crucial process. According to Karhunen-Loeve (K-L) transformation, the coordinates of characters in the image are arranged into a two-dimensional covariance matrix, on the basis of which the centered process is carried out. Then, the eigenvector and the rotation angle α are computed in turn. The whole image is rotated by -α. Thus, image horizontal tilt correction is performed. In the vertical tilt correction process, three correction methods, which are K-L transformation method, the line fitting method based on K -means clustering (LFMBKC), and the line fitting based on least squares (LFMBLS), are put forward to compute the vertical tilt angle θ. After shear transformation (ST) is imposed on the rotated image, the final correction image is obtained. The experimental results verify that this proposed method can be easily implemented, and can quickly and accurately get the tilt angle. It provides a new effective way for the VLP image tilt correction as well. 展开更多
