Accurate knowledge of mesospheric winds and waves is essential for studying the dynamics and climate in the mesosphere and lower thermosphere(MLT)region.In this study,we conduct a comparative analysis of the mesospher...Accurate knowledge of mesospheric winds and waves is essential for studying the dynamics and climate in the mesosphere and lower thermosphere(MLT)region.In this study,we conduct a comparative analysis of the mesosphere tidal results obtained from two adjacent meteor radars at low latitudes in Kunming,China,from November 2013 to December 2014.These two radars operate at different frequencies of 37.5 MHz and 53.1 MHz,respectively.However,overall good agreement is observed between the two radars in terms of horizontal winds and tide observations.The results show that the dominant tidal waves of the zonal and meridional winds are diurnal and semidiurnal tides.Moreover,we conduct an exhaustive statistical analysis to compare the tidal amplitudes and vertical wavelengths recorded by the dual radar systems,which reveals a high degree of alignment in tidal dynamics.The investigation includes variances and covariances of tidal amplitudes,which demonstrate remarkable consistency across measurements from both radars.This finding highlights clear uniformity in the mesospheric tidal patterns observed at low latitudes by the two neighboring meteor radars.Results of the comparative analysis specifically underscore the significant correlation in vertical wavelength measurements,validating the robustness of radar observations for tidal research.展开更多
The spectral memory effect in scattering media is crucial for applications that employ broadband illumination,as it dictates the available spectral range from independent scattering responses.Previous studies mainly c...The spectral memory effect in scattering media is crucial for applications that employ broadband illumination,as it dictates the available spectral range from independent scattering responses.Previous studies mainly considered a passive result with the average impact of the scattering medium,whereas it is vital to actively enhance or suppress this effect for applications concerned with large spectral range or fine resolution.We construct an analytical model by integrating the concepts of wave-based interference and photon-based propagation,which manifests a potential physical image for active manipulation by utilizing scattering eigenchannels.Our theoretical predictions indicate that the spectral memory effect is enhanced using high-transmission eigenchannels while it is suppressed using low-transmission eigenchannels.These predictions are supported by finite-difference time-domain simulations and experiments,demonstrating that the spectral memory effect’s range can be actively manipulated.Quantitatively,the experiments achieved variations in enhancement and suppression that exceeded threefold(∼3.27).We clarify the underlying principles of the spectral memory effect in scattering media and demonstrate active manipulation of multispectral scattering processes.展开更多
BACKGROUND The heterogeneous group of disorders called peripheral vascular diseases(PVDs)occurs outside the heart and brain tissue to cause ischemia and severe health complications.Diagnosis accuracy is essential in s...BACKGROUND The heterogeneous group of disorders called peripheral vascular diseases(PVDs)occurs outside the heart and brain tissue to cause ischemia and severe health complications.Diagnosis accuracy is essential in starting appropriate patient management at the proper time.Modern medicine considers skin biopsies crucial diagnostic tools that yield histopathological and molecular evidence for examining PVD-related microvascular changes.AIM To evaluate skin biopsy applications in PVD diagnostics through artistic analysis of technical processes and examination of pathological and innovative molecular indicators.METHODS A systematic review of randomized controlled trials and original studies about skin biopsy utility in PVD diagnosis used PubMed,Scopus,and EMBASE search platforms.The reviewed studies met specific entry requirements,while all case reports and review articles remained excluded.RESULTS A total of 22 studies suited the research criteria that were evaluated.Researchers emphasized the value of skin biopsies for identifying inflammatory from non-inflammatory PVDs.At the same time,they detect systemic sclerosis and diabetic vasculopathy abnormalities of micro-vessels and identify endothelial dysfunction through measurements of vascular endothelial growth factor and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 and endothelial nitric oxide synthase markers.Skin biopsies require further improvement because they cause patient discomfort and produce variable diagnostic results that specialists must interpret.CONCLUSION Skin biopsies enable essential diagnostic findings about PVD and improve patient detection.The development of standardized biopsy procedures and molecular diagnosis techniques should be studied to advance PVD diagnoses in clinical practice.展开更多

Geology has re...Geologists agree that the collision of the Indian and Asian plates caused uplift of the Tibet Plateau. However, controversy still exists regarding the modes and mechanisms of the Tibetan Plateau uplift. Geology has recorded this uplift well in the Qaidam Basin. This paper analyzes the tectonic and sedimentary evolution of the western Qaidam Basin using sub-surface seismic and drill data. The Cenozoic intensity and history of deformation in the Qaidam Basin have been reconstructed based on the tectonic developments, faults growth index, sedimentary facies variations, and the migration of the depositional depressions. The changes in the sedimentary facies show that lakes in the western Qaidam Basin had gone from inflow to still water deposition to withdrawal. Tectonic movements controlled deposition in various depressions, and the depressions gradually shifted southeastward. In addition, the morphology of the surface structures in the western Qaidam Basin shows that the Cenozoic tectonic movements controlled the evolution of the Basin and divided it into (a) the southern fault terrace zone, (b) a central Yingxiongling orogenic belt, and (c) the northern fold-thrust belt; divided by the XI fault (Youshi fault) and Youbei fault, respectively. The field data indicate that the western Qaidam Basin formed in a Cenozoic compressive tectonic environment caused by the India--Asia plate collision. Further, the Basin experienced two phases of intensive tectonic deformation. The first phase occurred during the Middle Eocene--Early Miocene (Xia Ganchaigou Fm. and Shang Ganchaigou Fro., 43.8- 22 Ma), and peaked in the Early Oligocene (Upper Xia Ganchaigou Fro., 31.5 Ma). The second phase occurred between the Middle Miocene and the Present (Shang Youshashan Fro. and Qigequan Fro., 14.9-0 Ma), and was stronger than the first phase. The tectonic--sedimentary evolution and the orienta- tion of surface structures in the western Qaidam Basin resulted from the Tibetan Plateau uplift, and recorded the periodic northward growth of the Plateau. Recognizing this early tectonic--sedimentary evolution supports the previous conclusion that northern Tibet responded to the collision between India and Asia shortly after its initiation. However, the current results reveal that northern Tibet also experi- enced another phase of uplift during the late Neogene. The effects of these two stages of tectonic activity combined to produce the current Tibetan Plateau.展开更多

Cholesterol crystal embolic (CCE) syndrome is often a clinically challenging condition that has a poor prognostic implication. It is a result of plaque rupture with release of cholesterol crystals into the circulati...Cholesterol crystal embolic (CCE) syndrome is often a clinically challenging condition that has a poor prognostic implication. It is a result of plaque rupture with release of cholesterol crystals into the circulation that embolize into various tissue organs. Plaque rupture seems to be triggered by an expanding necrotic core during cholesterol crystallization forming sharp tipped crystals that perforate and tear the fibrous cap. Embolizing cholesterol crystals then initiate both local and systemic inflammation that eventually lead to vascular fibrosis and obstruction causing symptoms that can mimic other vasculitic conditions. In fact, animal studies have demonstrated that cholesterol crystals can trigger an inflammatory response via NLRP3 inflammasome similar to that seen with gout. The diagnosis of CCE syndrome often requires a high suspicion of the condition. Serum inflammation biomarkers including elevated sedimentation rate, abnormal renal function tests and eosinophilia are useful but non-specific. Common target organ involvement includes the skin, kidney, and brain. Various testing including fundoscopic eye examination and other non-invasive procedures such as trans-esophageal echocardiography and magnetic resonance imaging may be helpful in identifying the embolic source. Treatment includes aspirin and clopidogrel, high dose statin and possibly steroids. In rare cases, mechanical intervention using covered stents may help isolate the ruptured plaque. Anticoagulation with warfarin is not recommended and might even be harmful. Overall, CCE syndrome is usually a harbinger of extensive and unstable atherosclerotic disease that is often associated with acute cardiovascular events.展开更多
There have been numerous works proposed to merge augmented reality/mixed reality(AR/MR)and Internet of Things(IoT)in various ways.However,they have focused on their specific target applications and have limitations on...There have been numerous works proposed to merge augmented reality/mixed reality(AR/MR)and Internet of Things(IoT)in various ways.However,they have focused on their specific target applications and have limitations on interoperability or reusability when utilizing them to different domains or adding other devices to the system.This paper proposes a novel architecture of a convergence platform for AR/MR and IoT systems and services.The proposed architecture adopts the oneM2M IoT standard as the basic framework that converges AR/MR and IoT systems and enables the development of application services used in general-purpose environments without being subordinate to specific systems,domains,and device manufacturers.We implement the proposed architecture utilizing the open-source oneM2M-based IoT server and device platforms released by the open alliance for IoT standards(OCEAN)and Microsoft HoloLens as an MR device platform.We also suggest and demonstrate the practical use cases and discuss the advantages of the proposed architecture.展开更多
Malus sieversii(wild apple tree),only distributed in the Tianshan Mountains in Central Asia,is a tertiary relic species and an ancestral species of cultivated apples.However,existing natural populations of wild apple ...Malus sieversii(wild apple tree),only distributed in the Tianshan Mountains in Central Asia,is a tertiary relic species and an ancestral species of cultivated apples.However,existing natural populations of wild apple trees have been declining.To date,spatiotemporal variations in the growth status of declining wild apple trees and influencing factors in the narrow valley areas in the Tianshan Mountains remain unclear.In this study,field investigation and sampling were carried out in three years(2016-2018)at four elevations(1300,1400,1500,and 1600 m)in the Qiaolakesai Valley(a typical longitudinal narrow valley in the Yili River Valley)of the western Tianshan Mountains in Xinyuan County,Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region,China.Projective coverage,dead branch percentage,and 18 twig traits(these 20 parameters were collectively referred to as plant traits)were determined to comprehensively reflect the growth status of declining wild apple trees.The values of dead branch percentage ranged from 36%to 59%,with a mean of 40%.Year generally showed higher impact on plant traits than elevation.In 2017 and 2018,projective coverage,leaf size,leaf nitrogen concentration,and nitrogen to phosphorous ratio were markedly higher than those in 2016.However,dead branch percentage and leaf and stem phosphorous concentrations showed the opposite trend.Most of the topological parameters of plant trait networks differed in the three years,but the strength of trait-trait association increased year by year.The mean difference between day and night temperatures(MDT),annual accumulative precipitation,soil electrical conductivity,and soil pH had the greatest impact on the plant trait matrix.The growth status of declining wild apple trees was directly and positively affected by MDT and leaf size.In conclusion,the growth of declining wild apple trees distributed in the narrow valley areas was more sensitive to interannual environmental changes than elevation changes.The results are of great significance for further revealing the decline mechanism of wild apple trees in the Tianshan Mountains.展开更多

Phonon bandgap typically has a significant effect on phonon-phonon scattering process.In this work,the effects of mass modified phonon bandgap inθ-phase Ta N are systemically investigated by the means of first-princi...Phonon bandgap typically has a significant effect on phonon-phonon scattering process.In this work,the effects of mass modified phonon bandgap inθ-phase Ta N are systemically investigated by the means of first-principles calculations with linearized Boltzmann transport equation.Through detailed calculations,we find that phonon bandgap has a significant effect on three-phonon process while exhibits a much weaker effect on four-phonon process.The reason for the ultrahigh thermal conductivity ofθ-phase Ta N is the long lifetime of phonons including both three-phonon and four-phonon processes,which originates from the weak phonon anharmonicity and large phonon bandgap-induced small phonon-phonon scattering phase space.This work advances the understanding of phonon bandgap effects on phonon transport.展开更多

文摘There have been numerous works proposed to merge augmented reality/mixed reality(AR/MR)and Internet of Things(IoT)in various ways.However,they have focused on their specific target applications and have limitations on interoperability or reusability when utilizing them to different domains or adding other devices to the system.This paper proposes a novel architecture of a convergence platform for AR/MR and IoT systems and services.The proposed architecture adopts the oneM2M IoT standard as the basic framework that converges AR/MR and IoT systems and enables the development of application services used in general-purpose environments without being subordinate to specific systems,domains,and device manufacturers.We implement the proposed architecture utilizing the open-source oneM2M-based IoT server and device platforms released by the open alliance for IoT standards(OCEAN)and Microsoft HoloLens as an MR device platform.We also suggest and demonstrate the practical use cases and discuss the advantages of the proposed architecture.

文摘Malus sieversii(wild apple tree),only distributed in the Tianshan Mountains in Central Asia,is a tertiary relic species and an ancestral species of cultivated apples.However,existing natural populations of wild apple trees have been declining.To date,spatiotemporal variations in the growth status of declining wild apple trees and influencing factors in the narrow valley areas in the Tianshan Mountains remain unclear.In this study,field investigation and sampling were carried out in three years(2016-2018)at four elevations(1300,1400,1500,and 1600 m)in the Qiaolakesai Valley(a typical longitudinal narrow valley in the Yili River Valley)of the western Tianshan Mountains in Xinyuan County,Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region,China.Projective coverage,dead branch percentage,and 18 twig traits(these 20 parameters were collectively referred to as plant traits)were determined to comprehensively reflect the growth status of declining wild apple trees.The values of dead branch percentage ranged from 36%to 59%,with a mean of 40%.Year generally showed higher impact on plant traits than elevation.In 2017 and 2018,projective coverage,leaf size,leaf nitrogen concentration,and nitrogen to phosphorous ratio were markedly higher than those in 2016.However,dead branch percentage and leaf and stem phosphorous concentrations showed the opposite trend.Most of the topological parameters of plant trait networks differed in the three years,but the strength of trait-trait association increased year by year.The mean difference between day and night temperatures(MDT),annual accumulative precipitation,soil electrical conductivity,and soil pH had the greatest impact on the plant trait matrix.The growth status of declining wild apple trees was directly and positively affected by MDT and leaf size.In conclusion,the growth of declining wild apple trees distributed in the narrow valley areas was more sensitive to interannual environmental changes than elevation changes.The results are of great significance for further revealing the decline mechanism of wild apple trees in the Tianshan Mountains.

文摘Phonon bandgap typically has a significant effect on phonon-phonon scattering process.In this work,the effects of mass modified phonon bandgap inθ-phase Ta N are systemically investigated by the means of first-principles calculations with linearized Boltzmann transport equation.Through detailed calculations,we find that phonon bandgap has a significant effect on three-phonon process while exhibits a much weaker effect on four-phonon process.The reason for the ultrahigh thermal conductivity ofθ-phase Ta N is the long lifetime of phonons including both three-phonon and four-phonon processes,which originates from the weak phonon anharmonicity and large phonon bandgap-induced small phonon-phonon scattering phase space.This work advances the understanding of phonon bandgap effects on phonon transport.
