With the motivation to design high performance and clean combustor, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is utilized as the powerful design approach. In this paper, Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations of reactive two-phase flow in an experimental low emission combustor is performed. The numerical approach uses an implicit compressible gas solver together with a Lagrangian liquid-phase tracking method and the extended coherent flamelet model for turbulence-combustion interaction. The NOx formation is modeled by the concept of post-processing, which resolves the NOx transport equation with the assumption of frozen temperature distribution. Both turbulence-combustion interaction model and NOx formation model are firstly evaluated by the comparison of experimental data published in open literature of a lean direct injection (LDI) combustor. The test rig studied in this paper is called low emission stirred swirl (LESS) combustor, which is a two-stage model combustor, fueled with liquid kerosene (RP-3) and designed by Beihang University (BUAA). The main stage of LESS combustor employs the principle of lean prevaporized and premixed (LPP) concept to reduce pollutant, and the pilot stage depends on a diffusion flame for flame stabili-zation. Detailed numerical results including species distribution, turbulence performance and burning performance are qualita-tively and quantitatively evaluated. Numerical prediction of NOx emission shows a good agreement with test data at both idle condition and full power condition of LESS combustor. Preliminary results of the flame structure are shown in this paper. The flame stabilization mechanism and NOx reduction effort are also discussed with in-depth analysis.展开更多

[Method] The dominant fiber quality traits of test locations were analyzed with eight main fiber quality indexes of hybrid cotton regional trials during 2009-2013 in Jiangsu province by use of the "ideal test site" view of GGE biplot. [Result] The test locations with the best integrative fiber quality were proved to be Yanliang, and followed by Dongxin and Guanyun; The better test locations in terms of the major fiber quality indexes, including fiber strength, fiber Length and micronaire value, were Guanyun, Xinyang and Yanliang; To sum up, the best test location with balanced fiber quality was Yanliang. The test locations with specialties in fiber quality index were listed as bellow: Dafeng, Xinghua and Dongtai performance better in fiber length; Qidong, Liuhe and Yanhai locations were of better fiber length uniformity; Sheyang and Dongxin were better in micronaire value;while Sheyang along was better in fiber elongation and reflectance. Moreover, the correlation between fiber yellowness and other traits was significant(P<0.01). [Conclusion] The regional characteristic of cotton fiber quality index in Jiangsu province was obvious and fiber yellowness was worthy an indicator trait to assist the comprehensive improvement of cotton fiber quality.展开更多

The relative abilities of several chelating agents to act as antagonists for acute and chronic lead poisoning have been examined in the mouse.The acute LD<sub>50</sub> for lead acetate trihydrate was deter...The relative abilities of several chelating agents to act as antagonists for acute and chronic lead poisoning have been examined in the mouse.The acute LD<sub>50</sub> for lead acetate trihydrate was determined and found to be 135.3 mg Pb/kg for i. p. injection with a 95% confidence interval of 87.1 to 210.3 mg Pb/kg. The relative efficacy of chelating agents to reduce liver,kidney, spleen, bone and brain levels of lead was determined. The spleen levels were found to undergo little differences between the control and treated groups, but the liver, kidney, bone and brain levels showed significant differences in some cases. Of the compounds examind, meso-2, 3-dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA)and sodium 2,3-dimercaptopropane-1-sulfonate(DMPS) were as effective as disodium calcium ethylenediaminetetraacetate (Na<sub>2</sub>CaEDT A). The resuits indicated that DMSA was a promising chelating agent and may be worthy of further investigation in the clinic.展开更多
