An indicator is introduced in the WNCS model. The packet drop sequences in the indicator are represented as states of a Markov chain. A new discrete Markov switching system model integrating 802.11 protocol and new scheduling approach for wireless networks with control systems are constructed. The variable controller can be obtained easily by solving the linear matrix inequality (LMI) with the use of the Matlab toolbox. Both the known and unknown dropout probabilities are considered. Finally, a simulation is given to show the feasibility of the proposed method.展开更多

The deadbands were respectively set up at the sensor to the controller and the controller to the actor sides in the WNCS, which were used to reduce data transmission, furthermore, to decrease the network collision and node energy consumption. Under the consideration of time-varying delays and signal transmission deadbands, the model for the WNCS was presented. A novel Lyapunov functional which took full advantages of the network factors was exploited. Meanwhile, new stability analysis and stabilization conditions for the WNCS were proposed, which described the relationship of the delay bounds, the transmission deadband bounds and the system stability. Two examples were used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods. The results show that the proposed approach can guarantee asymptotical stability of the system and reduce the data transmission effectively.展开更多

The WNCS studied can operate in two modes: passive supervisor and active supervisor. It is first shown that the Markov models for both modes are identical. Performability models are then developed and a case study shows how to use these models to help make design decisions. More specifically, it is observed that the performability of a passive supervisor system increases in time while that of an active supervisor system decreases in time.展开更多

This paper addresses the controllability aspect in wireless vibration control of plate structures via photostrictive actuators. A modal force index, which has taken into account the mode number, the spatial distribution, and the dimension of the actuator, is chosen as an objective function to determine the optimal locations of photostrictive actuators. A linear methodology is proposed in this paper and the vibration equation is written in the standard state-space form. A binary-coded GA based combined optimal placement and LQR (linear quadratic regulator) control scheme has been incorporated, which maximizes the modal force index, the closed loop damping and minimizes input light intensity to the actuators. In the present method only three weighting factors have been used to search optimal Q and R matrices using GA, which reduces chromosome length and hence minimizes computational time. Numerical results demonstrate that the use of strategically positioned actuator patches can effectively control the fundamental modes that dominate the structural vibration.展开更多

In this paper, we propose a novel real-time notification protocol called RT-Notification for wireless control in fog computing. RT-Notification provides low-latency TDMA communication between an access point in Fog and a large number of portable monitoring devices equipped with sensor and actuator. RT-Notification differentiates two types of controls: urgent downlink actuator-oriented control and normal uplink access & scheduling control. Different from existing protocols, RT-Notification has two salient features:(i) support real-time notification of control frames, while not interrupting ongoing other transmissions, and(ii) support on-demand channel allocation for normal uplink access & scheduling control. RT-Notification can be implemented based on the commercial off-the-shelf 802.11 hardware. Our extensive simulations verify that RT-Notification is very effective in supporting the above two features.展开更多

In this work, the distributed versions of self-tuning proportional integral plus derivative (SPID) controller and self-tuning proportional plus integral (SPI) controller are described. An explicit rate feedback mechanism is used to design a controller for regulating the source rates in wireless and wired multi-cast networks. The control parameters of the SPID and SPI controllers are determined to ensure the stability of the control loop. Simulations are carried out with wireless and wired multi-cast models, to evaluate the performance of the SPID and SPI controllers and the ensuing results show that SPID scheme yields better performance than SPI scheme;however, it requires more computing time and central processing unit (CPU) resources.展开更多

Firstly, we modifie Itti's saliency model. Secondly, target bits of each frame are allocated through the correlation of saliency region between the current and previous frame, and the complexity of each MB is modified through the saliency value and its Mean Absolute Difference (MAD) value. Lastly, the algorithm was implemented in JVT JM12.2. Simulation results show that, comparing with traditional rate control algorithm, the proposed one can reduce the coding bit rate and improve the reconstructed video subjective quality, especially for visual saliency region. It is very suitable for wireless video transmission.展开更多

These do not provide dynamic control over the area in which the cattle are grazing. Existing virtual fencing techniques for the control of herds of cattle, based on polygon coordinate definition of boundaries is limited in the area of land mass coverage and dynamism. This work seeks to develop a more robust and an improved monocular vision based boundary avoidance for non-invasive stray control system for cattle, with a view to increase land mass coverage in virtual fencing techniques and dynamism. The monocular vision based depth estimation will be modeled using concept of global Fourier Transform (FT) and local Wavelet Transform (WT) of image structure of scenes (boundaries). The magnitude of the global Fourier Transform gives the dominant orientations and textual patterns of the image;while the local Wavelet Transform gives the dominant spectral features of the image and their spatial distribution. Each scene picture or image is defined by features v, which contain the set of global (FT) and local (WT) statistics of the image. Scenes or boundaries distances are given by estimating the depth D by means of the image features v. Sound cues of intensity equivalent to the magnitude of the depth D are applied to the animal ears as stimuli. This brings about the desired control as animals tend to move away from uncomfortable sounds.展开更多

Our extensive simulations verify that RT-Notification is very effective in supporting the above two features.
文摘Power sharing among multiterminal high voltage direct current terminals(MT-HVDC)is mainly developed based on a priority or sequential manners, which uses to prevent the problem of overloading due to a predefined controller coefficient.Furthermore, fixed power sharing control also suffers from an inability to identify power availability at a rectification station. There is a need for a controller that ensures an efficient power sharing among the MT-HVDC terminals, prevents the possibility of overloading, and utilizes the available power sharing.A new adaptive wireless control for active power sharing among multiterminal(MT-HVDC)systems,including power availability and power management policy,is proposed in this paper. The proposed control strategy solves these issues and, this proposed controller strategy is a generic method that can be applied for unlimited number of converter stations. The rational of this proposed controller is to increase the system reliability by avoiding the necessity of fast communication links. The test system in this paper consists of four converter stations based on three phase-two AC voltage levels. The proposed control strategy for a multiterminal HVDC system is conducted in the power systems computer aided design/electromagnetic transient design and control(PSCAD/EMTDC)simulation environment. The simulation results significantly show the flexibility and usefulness of the proposed power sharing control provided by the new adaptive wireless method.

文摘This paper deals with the design of an intelligent access control system based on the fingerprint sensor FPC- 1011C. The design uses the S3C2410 and TMS320VC5510A as the system processor. A fingerprint acquisition module and a wireless alarm module were designed by using the fingerprint sensor FPC1011C and GPRS module SIM100 respectively. The whole system was implemented wireless alarm through messages and GPRS-Internet in the GSM/GPRS web. In order to achieve the simple and high Real-time system, the μC-Linux system migration was also implemented.
文摘The advances in MIMO systems and networking technologies introduced a revolution in recent times, especially in wireless and wired multi-cast (multi-point-to-multi-point) transmission field. Simulations are carried out with wireless and wired multi-cast models, to evaluate the performance of the SPID and SPI controllers and the ensuing results show that SPID scheme yields better performance than SPI scheme;however, it requires more computing time and central processing unit (CPU) resources.

文摘In order to further improve the efficiency of video compression, we introduce a perceptual characteristics of Human Visual System (HVS) to video coding, and propose a novel video coding rate control algorithm based on human visual saliency model in H.264/AVC. It is very suitable for wireless video transmission.
文摘Building fences to manage the cattle grazing can be very expensive;cost inefficient. This brings about the desired control as animals tend to move away from uncomfortable sounds.
