[Objectives]To explore the effects of electroacupuncture combined with rehabilitation training on knee joint function,three-dimensional(3D)gait,and inflammatory markers in patients with knee osteoarthritis(KOA)of cold-dampness obstruction syndrome.[Methods]A total of 162 KOA patients admitted to Huadong Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University from January 2021 to May 2023 were enrolled and randomly divided into an electroacupuncture group and a control group, with 81 patients in each group. The control group received routine rehabilitation training, while the electroacupuncture group received electroacupuncture treatment in addition to the same rehabilitation training, both for 4 weeks. The efficacy, syndrome scores,Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC),Lysholm Knee Score(LKS),3D gait parameters, and levels of inflammatory markers were compared between the two groups.[Results]Following treatment, the total effective rate in the electroacupuncture group was 92.59%,which was significantly higher than 77.78%observed in the control group(P<0.05).Additionally,the electroacupuncture group exhibited lower TCM syndrome scores(P<0.05),reduced WOMAC scores, and elevated LKS scores compared to the control group(P<0.05).Gait parameters, including step frequency, step speed, stride length, initial ground contact flexion angle, maximum swing phase extension angle, and support phase extension angle, were all higher in the electroacupuncture group.Additionally, the sagittal plane maximum abduction moment was lower in the electroacupuncture group.Inflammatory markers showed that interleukin-6(IL-6)and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)were lower in the electroacupuncture group, while transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1)was higher(P<0.05).[Conclusions]Electroacupuncture combined with rehabilitation training effectively enhances clinical efficacy, alleviates symptoms, improves knee joint mobility and walking ability, enhances knee function scores, and reduces inflammatory levels, contributing to the rapid recovery of knee joints in KOA patients. 展开更多

Detailed knowledge of motor outcomes enables to establish proper goals and rehabilitation strate-gies for stroke patients. Several previous studies have reported functional or motor outcomes in patients with a middle cerebral artery territory infarct. However, little is known about motor outcome in patients with a complete middle cerebral artery territory infarct. In this study, we investigated the motor outcomes in 23 patients with a complete middle cerebral artery territory infarct. All of these patients received comprehensive rehabilitative management, including movement therapy and neuromuscular electrical stimulation of the affected finger extensors and ankle dorsiflexors, for more than 3 months. Motor outcomes were measured at 6 months after stroke onset using the Medical Research Council, Motricity Index, the modified Brunnstrom Classification, and Functional Ambula-tion Category scores. The motor function of the lower extremities was found to be better than that of the upper extremities. After receiving rehabilitation treatments for 3–6 months, about 70% of these patients were able to walk independently (Functional Ambulation Category scores 3), but no pa-tient achieved functional hand recovery. 展开更多

Elderly people have reduced muscle mass, decreased physical function and an increased hospitalization probability, which affect their quality of life and even lead to death in severe cases.Scholars at home and abroad have studied progressive body muscle loss associated with increase of age, decreased muscle strength and muscle function impairment syndrome and how to prevent them.Much research have been done preventing diseases and improving muscle strength through exercising, nutrition, and drug intervention, and these measures have been proven effective. This article describes the effect of exercising in reducing muscle disease, improving muscle mass, and physical abilities of the elderly. This study can not only effectively enrich the research results related to exercise therapy of sarcopenia, but is also in line with national strategies and policies such as the“national fitness campaign,”“Healthy China 2030 Plan Outline,”and“Healthy China Action 2019-2030”depending on the health conditions of the elderly population.Besides, this paper aims to develop individualized exercise programs, provide scientific basis for the prevention and treatment of sarcopenia in the elderly, reduce the risk of fall damage in the elderly, and promote the physical health level of the elderly. 展开更多
