Based on Christensen’s rough surface stochastic model and consistency transformation method, Reynolds equation of air supported gyroscope containing surface roughness information is established. Also effects of mathematical models of main machining errors on vortex torque are established. By using finite element method, the Reynolds equation is solved numerically and the vortex torque in the presence of machining errors and surface roughness is calculated. The results show that surface roughness of slit has a significant effect on vortex torque. Transverse surface roughness makes vortex torque greater, while longitudinal surface roughness makes vortex torque smaller. The maximal difference approaches 11.4% during the range analyzed in this article. However surface roughness of journal influences vortex torque insignificantly. The research is of great significance for designing and manufacturing air supported gyroscope and predicting its performance.展开更多

Two approaches are proposed to model the disturbance torque. Firstly, the gravity induced moment, the vortex torque, and the damping moment are modeled separately. However, the vortex torque and the damping moment are coupled with each other as both of them are caused by the viscosity. In the second approach, the coupling effect is considered. A nano-satellite is constructed based on aerostatic bearing. The time history of the free rotation rate from an initial speed is measured by the gyro, which is further used to calculate the rotation angle and acceleration. The static vortex torque is measured via the removable micro-torque measurement system. Based on these data, the model parameters are identified and modeling errors are presented. Results show that the second model is more precise. The root mean squire error is less than 0.5×10^(-4) N·m and the relative error of the static vortex torque is 0.16%.展开更多

The cloud cavitation was treated as a homogeneous liquid-vapor mixture and the effects of turbulent eddy viscosity were reduced in cavitation regions near the hydrofoil and in the wake. The numerical results(in terms of the vapor shedding structure and transient pressure pulsation due to cavitation evolution) agree well with the available experimental data, showing the validity of the FBDCM method. Furthermore, the interaction of vortex and cavitation was analyzed based on the vorticity transport equation, revealing that the cavitation evolution has a strong connection with vortex dynamics. A detailed analysis shows that the cavitation could promote the vortex production and flow unsteadiness by the dilatation and baroclinic torque terms in the vorticity transport equation.展开更多
