The Fundamentals of Visual Design are a foundational element of modern higher education in China.Given the context of socio-economic development,there is an increasing demand for visual design professionals.In the teaching of basic visual design in universities,there is a need for substantial innovation and transformation in teaching concepts,methods,and models,as well as continuous optimization of instructional design.In practice,the comprehensive implementation of Self-Determination Theory(SDT)is crucial.By leveraging SDT,educators can stimulate students’intrinsic motivation and enhance the effectiveness of teaching.This paper focuses on the application of Self-Determination Theory in the foundational education of visual design in higher education institutions.First,it provides an overview of SDT,explaining its core concepts and fundamental principles.Then,it analyzes the current state of basic visual design education in Chinese universities,identifying existing problems and exploring the potential role of SDT in addressing these issues.Furthermore,it discusses how to integrate SDT into teaching design and practice to improve teaching outcomes and student motivation.The paper offers instructional guidance from the perspectives of fostering a sense of achievement and belonging,providing references and insights for future teaching efforts.Introducing Self-Determination Theory into the field of foundational visual design education in universities,the paper proposes corresponding instructional methods.This innovative approach,which combines theory and practice,helps to break traditional teaching models,stimulate students’interest and motivation in learning,and enhance teaching effectiveness. 展开更多

Three-Dimensional Model Classification Based on VIT-GE and Voting Mechanism

3D model classification has emerged as a significant research focus in computer vision.However,traditional convolutional neural networks(CNNs)often struggle to capture global dependencies across both height and width ... 3D model classification has emerged as a significant research focus in computer vision.However,traditional convolutional neural networks(CNNs)often struggle to capture global dependencies across both height and width dimensions simultaneously,leading to limited feature representation capabilities when handling complex visual tasks.To address this challenge,we propose a novel 3D model classification network named ViT-GE(Vision Transformer with Global and Efficient Attention),which integrates Global Grouped Coordinate Attention(GGCA)and Efficient Channel Attention(ECA)mechanisms.Specifically,the Vision Transformer(ViT)is employed to extract comprehensive global features from multi-view inputs using its self-attention mechanism,effectively capturing 3D shape characteristics.To further enhance spatial feature modeling,the GGCA module introduces a grouping strategy and global context interactions.Concurrently,the ECA module strengthens inter-channel information flow,enabling the network to adaptively emphasize key features and improve feature fusion.Finally,a voting mechanism is adopted to enhance classification accuracy,robustness,and stability.Experimental results on the ModelNet10 dataset demonstrate that our method achieves a classification accuracy of 93.50%,validating its effectiveness and superior performance. 展开更多

Under the tide of information,UI design has become the core lever for measuring the quality of digital product experience.As various applications permeate daily life,the quality of interfaces has been in-creasingly magnified.Researchers at home and abroad have devoted their efforts to this,distilling multiple sets of experience paradigms and operational guidelines.Regrettably,the mainstream thinking is still trapped in a two-dimensionalflat framework.When interaction technologies are advancing rapidly and functional in-formationflows are surging in a multi-dimensional and three-dimensional manner,the old logic can no longer fulfill the demand for a user-centered quality experience.First,an emotional indicator framework is established through human-computer engineering.In the weight setting part,the grey correlation is incorporated into the group analytic hierarchy process,and the modified analytic hierarchy process(AHP)is used to calculate the comprehensive weights,thereby weakening the subjectiveflaws of the traditional AHP.Then,in response to the ambiguity of the evaluation,the intuitionistic fuzzy set is integrated with the TOPSIS(technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution)ideal similarity ranking method to construct a new comprehensive evaluation model.This study verifies the applicability of human factors engineering in the emotional design of digital interfaces,providing a quantitative path and practical guidelines for the paradigm shift from“usability”to“empathy”. 展开更多

Small non-coding RNAs(sRNAs)have received much attention in recent years due to their unique biological properties,which can efficiently and specifically tune target gene expressions in bacteria.Inspired by natural sRNAs,recent works have proposed the use of artificial sRNAs(asRNAs)as genetic tools to regulate desired gene that has been applied in several fields,such as metabolic engineering and bacterial physiology studies.However,the rational design of asRNAs is still a challenge.In this study,we proposed structure and length as two criteria to implement rational visualized and precise design of asRNAs.T7 expression system was one of the most useful recombinant protein expression systems.However,it was deeply limited by the formation of inclusion body.To settle this problem,we designed a series of asRNAs to inhibit the T7 RNA polymerase(Gene1)expression to balance the rate between transcription and folding of recombinant protein.Based on the heterologous expression of Aspergillus oryzae Li-3 glucuronidase in E.coli,the asRNA-antigene1-17bp can effectively decrease the inclusion body and increase the enzyme activity by 169.9%. 展开更多

Motivation effect of animated pedagogical agent's personality and feedback strategy types on learning in virtual training environment 被引量:1

Background The personality and feedback of an animated pedagogical agent(APA)are vital social-emotional features that render the agent perceptually believable.Their effects on learning during virtual training need to be examined.Methods In this paper,an explanation model is proposed to clarify the underlying mechanism of how these two features affect learners.Two studies were conducted to investigate the model.In Study 1,the effect of the APA's personality type and feedback strategy on flow experience and performance was reexamined,revealing significant effects of the feedback strategy on flow and performance and a marginally significant effect of the personality type on performance.To explore the mechanism behind these effects,a theoretical model is proposed by distinguishing between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation effects.In Study 2,the model was evaluated,and the APA's personality type was found to significantly influence the factors in the path of the extrinsic motivation effect rather than those in the path of the intrinsic motivation effect.Results In contrast,the feedback strategy affected factors in the path of the intrinsic motivation effect.Conclusions These results validated the proposed model.Further distinguishing the two motivation effects is necessary to understand the respective effects of an APA's personality and feedback features on learning experiences and outcomes. 展开更多

The Learning management system(LMS)is now being used for uploading educational content in both distance and blended setups.LMS platform has two types of users:the educators who upload the content,and the students who have to access the content.The students,usually rely on text notes or books and video tutorials while their exams are conducted with formal methods.Formal assessments and examination criteria are ineffective with restricted learning space which makes the student tend only to read the educational contents and videos instead of interactive mode.The aim is to design an interactive LMS and examination video-based interface to cater the issues of educators and students.It is designed according to Human-computer interaction(HCI)principles to make the interactive User interface(UI)through User experience(UX).The interactive lectures in the form of annotated videos increase user engagement and improve the self-study context of users involved in LMS.The interface design defines how the design will interact with users and how the interface exchanges information.The findings show that interactive videos for LMS allow the users to have a more personalized learning experience by engaging in the educational content.The result shows a highly personalized learning experience due to the interactive video and quiz within the video. 展开更多

The problem is that which scheme is most suitable should be solved primarily. From current research situation and technology progress of assembly simulation, this paper explained and analyzed four kinds of technological schemes of assembly simulation in common use. Finally, we got the most feasible scheme that was suitable for HT-7U assembly simulation by comparing their technological issues and difficult points of simulation among the four kinds of feasible schemes. 展开更多

It is provided with multiple functions, such as laser scanning information management for goaf, cloud data de-noising optimization, construction, display and operation of three-dimensional model, model editing, profile generation, calculation of goaf volume and roof area, Boolean calculation among models and interaction with the third party soft ware. Concerning this system with a concise interface, plentiful data input/output interfaces, it is featured with high integration, simple and convenient operations of applications. Mixed reality offers a larger visualization space and more intuitive means of interaction for data exploration,and many works have been dedicated to combining 2D visualizations on screen with mixe reality.However,for each combination,we need to customize the implementation of the corresponding mixed reality 3D visualization.It is a challenge to simplify this development process and enable agile building of mixed reality 3D visualizations for 2D visualizations.In addition,many existing 2D visualizations do not provide interfaces oriented to immersive analytics,so how to extend the mixed reality 3D space from existing 2D visualizations is another challenge.This work presents an agile and flexible approach to interactively transfer visualizations from 2D screens to mixed reality 3D spaces.We designed an interactive process for spatial generation of mixed-reality 3D visualizations,defined a unified data transfer framework,integrated data deconstruction techniques for 2D visualizations,implemented interfaces to immersive visualization building tool-kits,and encapsulated these techniques into a tool named X-Space.We validated that the approach is feasible and effective through 2D visualization cases including scatter plots,stacked bar charts,and adjacency matrix.Finally,we conducted expert interviews to discuss the usability and value of the method. 展开更多

This paper explores the inter-semiotic analysis of the ideational meaning in images generated by the text-to-image AI tool,Bing Image Creator.It adopts Kress and Van Leeuwen’s Grammar of Visual Design as its theoretical framework as the original grounding of the framework in systemic functional grammar(SFG)ensures a solid theoretical basis for undertaking analyses that involve the incorporation of textual and visual components.The integration of an AI generative model within the analytical framework enables a systematic connection between language and visual representations.This incorporation offers the potential to generate well-regulated pictorial representations that are systematically grounded in controlled textual prompts.This approach introduces a novel avenue for re-examining inter-semiotic processes,leveraging the power of AI technology.The paper argues that visual representations possess unique structural devices that surpass the limitations of verbal or written communication as they readily accommodate larger amounts of information in contrast to the limitations of the linear nature of alphabetic writing.Moreover,this paper extends its contribution by critically evaluating specific aspects of the Grammar of Visual Design. 展开更多

Colorslope: a balanced visualization of overview and details on ranks over time

Users are often interested in exploring ranks over time data to compare the performance or ranking of multiple observations with respect to each other.However,predominant visualization techniques suffer from a high cognitive load due to visual clutter.We propose Colorslope,a hybrid of Tufte’s slope graph and temporal heatmap,to depict ranks over time in one graph while maintaining an overview and details with scalability.Colorslope combines both canonical visualization methods’complementary benefits:depicting overall trends and enabling the estimation of detailed values.We evaluated the efficacy and effectiveness of Colorslope by comparing it with a standard bump chart and temporal heatmap on various data sizes.We conclude that Colorslope contributes by(1)allowing users to identify extremes of the data and rate of change effectively in a relatively large number of series;(2)allowing the visualization to have better scalability in a larger amount of data(e.g.,30∼50)than a bump chart;and(3)allowing users to gain a better estimate of data values than a heatmap.For a certain size of ranks over time data,Colorslope provides an alternative solution to visualize multiple time series simultaneously that provides both an overview and a certain level of detail. 展开更多
