Impacts of Virtual Train-based Atmospheric Vertical Profile Data Assimilation on the Forecast of the “21.7” Zhengzhou Rainstorm

A record-breaking prolonged and extreme rainstorm occurred in Henan province,China during 18–23 July 2021.Global and regional numerical weather prediction(NWP)models consistently underpredicted both the 24-h accumulated rainfall amount and the 1-h extreme precipitation in Zhengzhou city.This study examines the potential impacts of data assimilation(DA)of atmospheric vertical profiles based on the train-based mobile observation(MO)platforms on precipitation forecasts.The research involved assimilating virtual train-based air temperature(Ta),relative humidity(RH),U and V components of wind profile data based on the ERA5 reanalysis datasets into the Weather Research and Forecasting(WRF)model using three-dimensional variational(3DVar)method.Analysis confirms the reliability of Ta,RH,and wind speed(WS)profiles from ERA5 reanalysis datasets.The assimilation of virtual train-based moisture profiles enhanced the RH analysis field.Furthermore,the forecasts more accurately represented the coverage and intensity of the 6-hour and 24-hour accumulated precipitation,as well as areas with maximum rainfall durations exceeding 20 hours.The threat score(TS)and bias metrics for 6-h,12-h and 24-h accumulated precipitation forecasts showed marked improvement for heavy to torrential rain in Henan province,particularly in the Central and Northern regions(hereinafter referred to region CNH).The TS for 24-h accumulated precipitation forecasts at 50 and 100 mm rainfall levels increased by 0.17 and 0.18 in Henan province,and by 0.13 and 0.18 in region CNH.During the rainstorm period,water vapor content increased substantially,with enhanced moisture transport from south of Henan province to region CNH driven by southwesterly winds,accompanied by significantly strengthened updrafts.These improvement in water vapor and upward motion ultimately enhanced the forecasts of this extreme rainstorm event. 展开更多

In the modern era of 5th generation(5G)networks,the data generated by User Equipments(UE)has increased significantly,with data file sizes varying from modest sensor logs to enormous multimedia files.In modern telecommunications networks,the need for high-end security and efficient management of these large data files is a great challenge for network designers.The proposed model provides the efficient real-time virtual data storage of UE data files(light and heavy)using an object storage system MinIO having inbuilt Software Development Kits(SDKs)that are compatible with Amazon(S3)Application Program Interface(API)making operations like file uploading,and data retrieval extremely efficient as compared to legacy virtual storage system requiring low-level HTTP requests for data management.To provide integrity,authenticity,and confidentiality(integrity checking via an authentication tag)to the data files of UE,the encrypted algorithm 256-bit oriented-Advanced Encryption Standard(256-AES)in Galois/Counter Mode(GCM)is utilized in combination with MinIO.The AES-based MinIO signifies in more secure and faster approach than older models like Cipher Block Chaining(CBC).The performance of the proposed model is analyzed using the Iperf utility to perform the Teletraffic parametric(bandwidth,throughput,latency,and transmission delay)analysis for three different cases namely:(a)light UE traffic(uploading and retrieval)(b)heavy UE traffic(uploading and retrieval)and(c)comparison of Teletraffic parameters namely:bandwidth(Bava),throughput(Tput),data transfer(D_(Trans)),latency(L_(ms)),and transmission delay(TDelay)obtained from proposed method with legacy virtual storage methods.The results show that the suggested MinIO-based system outperforms conventional systems in terms of latency,encryption efficiency,and performance under varying data load conditions. 展开更多

In order to take the advantage of testability virtual test data effectively and to improve the accuracy of testability evaluation, a testability integrated eval- uation method is proposed in this paper based on testability virtual test data. Considering the char- acteristic of testability virtual test data, the credibility analysis method for testability virtual test data is studied firstly. Then the integrated calculation method is proposed fusing the testability vir- tual and physical test data. Finally, certain helicopter heading and attitude system is presented to demonstrate the proposed method. The availability and quantity of remotely sensed and terrestrial geospatial data sets are on the rise.Historically,these data sets have been analyzed and quarried on 2D desktop computers;however,immersive technologies and specifically immersive virtual reality(iVR)allow for the integration,visualization,analysis,and exploration of these 3D geospatial data sets.iVR can deliver remote and large-scale geospatial data sets to the laboratory,providing embodied experiences of field sites across the earth and beyond.We describe a workflow for the ingestion of geospatial data sets and the development of an iVR workbench,and present the application of these for an experience of Iceland’s Thrihnukar volcano where we:(1)combined satellite imagery with terrain elevation data to create a basic reconstruction of the physical site;(2)used terrestrial LiDAR data to provide a geo-referenced point cloud model of the magmatic-volcanic system,as well as the LiDAR intensity values for the identification of rock types;and(3)used Structure-from-Motion(SfM)to construct a photorealistic point cloud of the inside volcano.The workbench provides tools for the direct manipulation of the georeferenced data sets,including scaling,rotation,and translation,and a suite of geometric measurement tools,including length,area,and volume.Future developments will be inspired by an ongoing user study that formally evaluates the workbench’s mature components in the context of fieldwork and analyses activities. 展开更多

Virtual data center is a new form of cloud computing concept applied to data center. As one of the most important challenges, virtual data center embedding problem has attracted much attention from researchers. In data centers, energy issue is very important for the reality that data center energy consumption has increased by dozens of times in the last decade. In this paper, we are concerned about the cost-aware multi-domain virtual data center embedding problem. In order to solve this problem, this paper first addresses the energy consumption model. The model includes the energy consumption model of the virtual machine node and the virtual switch node, to quantify the energy consumption in the virtual data center embedding process. Based on the energy consumption model above, this paper presents a heuristic algorithm for cost-aware multi-domain virtual data center embedding. The algorithm consists of two steps: inter-domain embedding and intra-domain embedding. Inter-domain virtual data center embedding refers to dividing virtual data center requests into several slices to select the appropriate single data center. Intra-domain virtual data center refers to embedding virtual data center requests in each data center. We first propose an inter-domain virtual data center embedding algorithm based on label propagation to select the appropriate single data center. We then propose a cost-aware virtual data center embedding algorithm to perform the intra-domain data center embedding. Extensive simulation results show that our proposed algorithm in this paper can effectively reduce the energy consumption while ensuring the success ratio of embedding. 展开更多

Estimation of Natural Mortality Coefficient from Fish Abundance and Catch Data Using Virtual Population Analysis(VPA)

Natural mortality coefficient (M) was estimated from fish abundance (N) and catch (C) data using a Virtual Population Analysis (VPA) model. Monte Carlo simulations were used to evaluate the impact of different error distributions for the simulated data on the estimates of M. Among the four error structures (normal, lognormal, Poisson and gamma), simulations of normally dis-tributed errors produced the most viable estimates for M, with the lowest relative estimation errors (REEs) and median mean absolute deviations (MADs) for the ratio of the true to the estimated Ms. In contrast, the lognormal distribution had the largest REE value. Errors with different coefficients of variation (CV) were added to N and C. In general, when CVs in the data were less than 10%, reliable estimates of M were obtained. For normal and lognormal distributions, the estimates of M were more sensitive to the CVs in N than in C; when only C had error the estimates were close to the true. For Poisson and gamma distributions, opposite results were obtained. For instance, the estimates were more sensitive to the CVs in C than in N, with the largest REE from the scenario of error only in C. Two scenarios of high and low fishing mortality coefficient (F) were generated, and the simulation results showed that the method performed better for the scenario with low F. This method was also applied to the published data for the anchovy (Engraulis japonicus) of the Yellow Sea. Viable estimates of M were obtained for young groups, which may be explained by the fact that the great uncertainties in N and C observed for older Yellow Sea anchovy introduced large variation in the corresponding estimates of M. 展开更多

The problem was previously modeled as a network of M/M/1 queues. Agenetic algorithm to solve this problem is presented. Extensive computational results across a variety of networks are reported. The virtual community of foreign language leaming can improve the sense of language authenticity in foreign language learning and improve the quality of foreign language teaching. A method of building a virtual community for foreign language learning is proposed based on data mining technology, data acquisition and feature preprocessing model for building semantic vocabulary of foreign language learning is constructed, the linguistic environment characteristics of the semantic vocabulary data of foreign language learning is analyzed, and the semantic noumenon structure model is obtained. Fuzzy clustering method is used for vocabulary clustering and comprehensive retrieval in the virtual community of foreign language learning, the performance of vocabulary classification in foreign language learning is improved, the adaptive semantic information fusion method is used to realize the vocabulary data mining in the virtual community of foreign language learning, information retrieval and access scheduling for virtual communities in foreign language learning are realized based on data mining results. The simulation results show that the accuracy of foreign language vocabulary retrieval is good, improve the efficiency of foreign language learning. 展开更多

Optical data storage(ODS)is a low-cost and high-durability counterpart of traditional electronic or mag-netic storage.As a means of enhancing ODS capacity,the multiple recording layer(MRL)method is more promising than other approaches such as reducing the recording volume and multiplexing technology.However,the architecture of current MRLs is identical to that of recording data into physical layers with rigid space,which leads to either severe interlayer crosstalk or finite recording layers constrained by the short working distances of the objectives.Here,we propose the concept of hybrid-layer ODS,which can record optical information into a physical layer and multiple virtual layers by using high-orthogonality random meta-channels.In the virtual layer,32 images are experimentally reconstructed through holog-raphy,where their holographic phases are encoded into 16 printed images and complementary images in the physical layer,yielding a capacity of 2.5 Tbit cm^(-3).A higher capacity is achievable with more virtual layers,suggesting hybrid-layer ODS as a possible candidate for next-generation ODS. 展开更多

A design strategy for a research platform of a telepresence telerobot system based on virtual reality technology is put forward. The design frame of the system is described, and its important core techniques are described. An octrees data structure is utilized to build kinematic and dynamic modeling of the virtual simulation environment, Delphi+OpenGL+3DS MAX are adopted to carry through the virtual modeling and visible simulation exploitation of the slave-robot and its environment. Photo-correction is adopted to correct positioning deviation of the virtual geometric model and modeling errors. The cost of software and hardware equipment for the research platform realized is low. The master/slave robot (manipulator) system and all software in the system were designed and manufactured by our research group. The performance of the system has reached the level required for research. An indispensable experiment base is provided for the research of a telepresence telerobot system based on virtual reality technology. 展开更多

基于非刚性配准构建三维颜面微笑仿真序列数据的方法

目的:建立一种基于微笑静态起始和终止颜面数据构建颜面微笑仿真序列数据的方法,初步评价该方法的准确性和可行性。方法:使用动态颜面扫描设备3dMD采集受试者由中性表情进行微笑的颜面动态数据。使用本课题组提出的普氏分析非刚性迭代... 目的:建立一种基于微笑静态起始和终止颜面数据构建颜面微笑仿真序列数据的方法,初步评价该方法的准确性和可行性。方法:使用动态颜面扫描设备3dMD采集受试者由中性表情进行微笑的颜面动态数据。使用本课题组提出的普氏分析非刚性迭代最近点算法(Procrustes analysis non-rigid iterative closest point,PA-NICP)将结构化的三维人脸模板分别变形配准至微笑起始颜面数据和微笑终止颜面数据上,获得二者结构化的同源数据。在MATLAB软件中,计算起始和终止两同源数据间的对应顶点位移量,通过线性插值生成三角面片拓扑结构一致的中间过渡数据,从而构建出颜面微笑仿真序列数据。以真实采集的颜面动态数据作为参考数据,以本方法构建的仿真序列数据作为测试数据,评价微笑过程中多个时间点的三维形态偏差,评价本方法构建微笑仿真序列数据的准确性。结果:本方法构建了男性和女性各1名受试者的三维颜面微笑仿真序列数据,男性受试者仿真序列数据构建的平均三维形态偏差为(0.31±0.04)mm,女性受试者仿真序列数据构建的平均三维形态偏差为(0.44±0.08)mm。结论:基于PA-NICP配准算法,可实现颜面微笑仿真序列数据的构建,其中间过渡数据可基于插值函数进行参数化构建和调整,为口腔美学修复设计、治疗效果评估和医患沟通等提供了一种新的动态颜面数据生成方法。 展开更多
