Meanwhile, it is also a negative factor for fatigue strength. Satisfying the fatigue strength is the primary prerequisite for heat transfer enhancement. This paper numerically studied the flow?induced vibration of planar elastic tube bundle based on a two?way fluid–structure interaction(FSI) calculation. The numerical calculation involved the unsteady, three?dimensional incompressible governing equations solved with finite volume approach and the dynamic balance equation of planar elastic tube bundle solved with finite element method combined with dynamic mesh scheme. The numerical approach was verified by comparing with the published experimental results. Then the vibration trajectory, deformation and stress contour of planar elastic tube bundle were all studied. Results show that the combined movement of planar elastic tube bundle represents the agitation from inside to outside. The vibration of out?of?plane is the main vibration form with the typically sinusoidal behavior because the magnitude of displacement along the out?of?plane direction is the 100 times than the value of in?plane direction. The dangerous point locates in the innermost tube where the equivalent stress can be utilized to study the multiaxial fatigue of planar elastic tube bundle due to the alternating stress concentration. In the velocity range of 0.2-3 m/s, it is inferred that the vibration amplitude plays a role on the stress response and the stress amplitude is susceptible to the fluid velocity. This research paves a way for studying the fatigue strength of planar elastic tube bundle by flow?induced vibration.展开更多

Utilising the input and transfer point mobility of a thin plate structure, a theoretical expression of the cylindrical shell’s bending vibration responsewas deduced and numerical simulations were done to simplify the theoretical expression within an acceptable error margin, greatly reducing the amount of computations. Furthermore, whole vibration response distributions of the cylindrical shell were analyzed. It was found thathe vibration energy propagates in helical form under mono-frequency excitation, while under bandwidth frequency excitation, it attenuates around in term of fluctuation. The axial attenuation rate of the vibration energy is larger than the circumferential attenuation rate.展开更多

As a crucial enabling technology, the VC-specific acquisition of train information, especially train following distance(TFD), is underdeveloped. In this paper, a novel method is proposed to acquire real-time TFD by analyzing the vibration response of the front and following trains, during which only onboard accelerometers and speedometers are required. In contrast to the traditional arts of train positioning, this method targets a relative position between two adjacent trains in VC operation, rather than the global positions of the trains. For this purpose, an adaptive system containing three strategies is designed to cope with possible adverse factors in train operation. A vehicle dynamics simulation of a heavy-haul railway is implemented for the evaluation of feasibility and performance. Furthermore, a validation is conducted using a set of data measured from in-service Chinese high-speed trains. The results indicate the method achieves satisfactory estimation accuracy using both simulated and actual data. It has favorable adaptability to various uncertainties possibly encountered in train operation. Additionally, the method is preliminarily proven to adapt to different locomotive types and even different rail transportation modes. In general, such a method with good performance, low-cost, and easy implementation is promising to apply.展开更多

As offshore oil and gas exploration is pushed into deep waters, difficulties encountered in deep-sea riser design may be attributed to the existence of parametric instability regarding platform heave motions. Parametric resonance in risers can cause serious damage which might bring disastrous accidents such as environment pollution, property losses and even fatalities. Therefore, the paranletric instability analysis should attract more attention during the design process of deep-sea risers. In this work, an equation of motion for a deep-sea riser is derived firstly. The motion equation is analyzed by the Floquet theory which allows the determination of both system response and stability properties. The unstable regions in which parametric resonance easily occurs can be determined. The effects of damping on parametric instability are also investigated, and the stability maps are presented. The results demonstrate that the available damping is vital in suppressing the instability regions. The suggestions for reduction of instability regions are proposed in deep-sea riser design.展开更多

This research paves a way for studying the fatigue strength of planar elastic tube bundle by flow?induced vibration.
文摘Useful structure characteristics of elastic cylindrical shells have led them to being widely applied in virtual projects,so it is important to conduct vibration research on the shells and find it’s a simpler corresponding compact calculation method. The axial attenuation rate of the vibration energy is larger than the circumferential attenuation rate.

文摘Volterra series is a powerful mathematical tool for nonlinear system analysis, and there is a wide range of nonlinear engineering systems and structures that can be represented by a Volterra series model. In the present study, the random vibration of nonlinear systems is investigated using Volterra series.Analytical expressions were derived for the calculation of the output power spectral density(PSD) and input-output cross-PSD for nonlinear systems subjected to Gaussian excitation.Based on these expressions,it was revealed that both the output PSD and the input-output crossPSD can be expressed as polynomial functions of the nonlinear characteristic parameters or the input intensity.Numerical studies were carried out to verify the theoretical analysis result and to demonstrate the effectiveness of the derived relationship. The results reached in this study are of significance to the analysis and design of the nonlinear engineering systems and structures which can be represented by a Volterra series model.

文摘This study presents a numerical method based on the surface temperature data and the ground temperature increase in Daqing for predicting temperature field distribution in the Binzhou Railway subgrade and analyzing the temporal and spatial distribution of freeze−thaw status of railway subgrade. The calibrated numerical method is applied to simulate the temperature field distribution and roadbed vibrational response of the railway subgrade with a thermal insulation layer at different seasons. The results show the following:(1)The thermal insulation layer can remarkably increase the soil temperature below it and maximum frost depth in the subgrade.(2)Thermal insulation can effectively reduce the subgrade vibration and protect it from frost damage.(3)Given that the strength requirements are met,the insulation layer should be buried as shallow as possible to effectively reduce the subgrade vibration response. The research findings provide theoretical support for the frost damage prevention of railway subgrades in seasonally frozen regions.
文摘In this study,a comprehensive rolling mill vibration test program was designed, including specific test conditions and a test system. The analysis of measured signals reveals the vibration response characteristics and their evolution at different gauge points in the finishing mill. This is particularly evident during abnormal rolling, where the signals highlight the characteristics of abnormal responses and vibration intensities.Abnormal vibrations during the rolling process mainly occur when the strip thickness is less than 2.5 mm,and at the rolling speed-up stage, the strong abnormal vibration occurs at each measuring point on the F2 transmission side. The maximum vibration intensity of the backup roll’s bearing seat is 17 mm/s.As the rolling progresses, the stress on the bolts changes. The strip thickness is negatively correlated with the peak values of bite and tail-flick impacts. The vibration characteristics vary with the strip thickness and the process state.

文摘The position deviation of the underwater manipulator generated by vortex-induced vibration(VIV)in the shear flow increases relative to that in the uniform flow. Thus, this study established an experimental platform to investigate the vibration characteristics of the underwater manipulator under shear flow. The vibration response along the manipulator was obtained and compared with that in the uniform flow. Results indicated that the velocity, test height, and flow field were the main factors affecting the VIV of the underwater manipulator. With the increase in the reduced velocity(U_(r)),the dimensionless amplitudes increased rapidly in the in-line(IL)direction with a maximum of 0.13D.The vibration responses in the cross-flow(CF)and IL directions were concentrated at positions 2,3 and positions 1,2,with peak values of 0.46 and 0.54 mm under U_(r)=1.54,respectively.In addition, the vibration frequency increased with the reduction of velocity. The dimensionless dominant frequency in the CF and IL directions varied from 0.39-0.80 and 0.35-0.64,respectively.Moreover,the ratio of the CF and IL directions was close to 1 at a lower U_(r).The standard deviation of displacement initially increased and then decreased as the height of the test location increased. The single peak value of the standard deviation showed that VIV presented a single mode.Compared with the uniform flow, the maximum and average values of VIV displacement increased by 104%and 110%under the shear flow, respectively.

文摘Virtual coupling(VC) is an emerging technology for addressing the shortage of rail transportation capacity. In general, such a method with good performance, low-cost, and easy implementation is promising to apply.

文摘This paper studies the vibration responses of porous functionally graded(FG)thin plates with four various types of porous distribution based on the physical neutral plane by employing the peridynamic differential operator(PDDO).It is assumed that density and elastic modulus continuously vary along the transverse direction following the power law distribution for porous FG plates. The governing differential equation of free vibration for a porous rectangular FG plate and its associated boundary conditions are expressed by a Lévy-type solution based on nonlinear von Karman plate theory.Dimensionless frequencies and mode shapes are obtained after solving the characteristic equations established by PDDO.The results of the current method are validated through comparison with existing literature. The effects of geometric parameters, material properties, elastic foundation, porosity distribution, and boundary conditions on the frequency are investigated and discussed in detail. The highest fundamental dimensionless frequency occurs under SCSC boundary conditions, while the lowest is under SFSF boundary conditions. The porous FG plate with the fourth pore type, featuring high density of porosity at the top and low at the bottom, exhibits the highest fundamental frequency under SSSS,SFSF,and SCSC boundary conditions. The dimensionless frequency increases with an increase in the elastic foundation stiffness coefficient.
文摘In this paper, the isogeometric analysis(IGA)method is employed to analyze the oscillation characteristics of functionally graded triply periodic minimal surface(FG-TPMS)curved-doubly shells integrated with magneto-electric surface layers(referred to as"FG-TPMS-MEE curved-doubly shells")subjected to low-velocity impact loads. This study presents low-velocity impact load model based on a single springmass(S-M)approach.The FG-TPMS-MEE curved-doubly shells are covered with two magneto-electric surface layers, while the core layer consists of three types:I-graph and Wrapped Package-graph(IWP),Gyroid(G),and Primitive(P),with various graded functions. These types are notable for their exceptional stiffness-to-weight ratios, enabling a wide range of potential applications. The Maxwell equations and electromagnetic boundary conditions are applied to compute the change in electric potentials and magnetic potentials. The equilibrium equations of the shell are derived from a refined higher-order shear deformation theory(HSDT),and the transient responses of the FG-TPMS-MEE curveddoubly shells are subsequently determined using Newmark's direct integration method. These results have applications in structural vibration control and the analysis of structures subjected to impact or explosive loads.Furthermore, this study provides a theoretical prediction of the low-velocity impact load and magneto-electric-elastic effects on the free vibration and transient response of FG-TPMS-MEE curved-doubly shells.
文摘The design of counter-rotating turbine is one of new techniques to improve the thrust-weight ratio of jet propulsion engines.Numerical analysis of a low pressure(LP)counter-rotating turbine rotor blade is presented by using ANSYS/CFX software.Interaction of aerodynamics and solid mechanics coupling in the computation is applied. In some rating of turbine, stress distribution and vibration characteristics of low pressure turbine(LPT)blade are computed. The wake aerodynamic forces and LPT blade vibration are transformed in frequency domain using fast Fourier transform(FFT)method. The results show that under wake aerodynamic force excitation, the first order modal vibration is more easily aroused and the higher order response cannot be ignored. Moreover, with different temperature fields, the vibration responses of blade are also different.

文摘This paper aims to gain insight into the nonlinear modal characteristics and the possible influence of the modes on the responses for the practical dual-rotor system with rub-impact in aero-engine.The finite solid element method combined with a constraint stiffness model produced by rub-impact is introduced to build the governing equation of the complicated nonlinear dual-rotor system. In order to deal with the efficiency and numerical divergence in the process of solving the nonlinear modes of this large-scale nonlinear system,an analysis strategy is proposed by integrating a two-layer reduction technique into the harmonic balance method. The effectiveness of the analysis strategy is validated by applying to a simple rotor system, which can easily obtain the theoretical result.Based on the modeling method and analysis strategy, the modal characteristics of an aero-engine dual-rotor system with rub-impact are revealed. The results show that the modal frequency of the dual-rotor system increases when rub-impact occurs and has the feature of interval, which allows us to obtain the critical speeds of the rubbing system by traditional Campbell diagram. The rotation direction is an important factor since it can not only affect the gyroscopic effect but also change the friction effect of the rub-impact.It is found that the modal frequencies of the counter-rotation dual-rotor are less than those of co-rotation condition.More importantly, the forward modes of the counter-rotation dual-rotor may be instable when rub-impact occurs at a certain rotor, while the corresponding modes under the co-rotation condition are always stable.Furthermore,by analyzing the rubbing response of the dual-rotor,it is found that the modal characteristics have an important influence on rotor’s response. The instable forward modes existing in the counter-rotation dual-rotor may lead to the divergence of the response when passing the corresponding critical speed.

文摘This study deals with the nonlinear dynamic response of deep-sea risers subjected to parametric excitation at the top of a platform. The suggestions for reduction of instability regions are proposed in deep-sea riser design.
