The dynamical behavior of the sphere is influenced by the external energy input from an electromagnetic shaker which is proportional to ε,where ε is equal to the ratio between the square of the dimensionless acceleration Γ and the square of the vibration frequency f of the container. Empirical results reveal that as the VGM transits from local-to-global convection,an increase in ε generally corresponds to an increase in the magnitudes of the rotational ω(RS) and translational v(CM) velocities of the sphere, an increase in the observed tilting angle θ(bed) of the VGM bed, and a decrease in the time t(wall) it takes the sphere to roll down the tilted VGM bed and hit the container wall. During unstable convection, an increase in ε results in a sharp decrease in the sphere's peak and mean ω(RS),and a slight increase in t(wall). For the range of ε values covered in this study, the sphere may execute persistent rotation, wobbling or jamming, depending on the vibration parameters and the resulting convective flow in the system.展开更多

There is a maximum value in the h-P experimental curve. The heat transfer coefficient increases with decreases in particle diameter in the fully fluidized region. The particle density has less effect on the heat transfer coefficients. High amplitude and low frequency, or low amplitude and high frequency are favorable to heat transfer. Exceedingly high gas velocity is unfavorable to the surface-bed heat transfer. A model based on the 'pocket' theory was proposed for predicting the surface-to-bed heat transfer coefficients in fully fluidized region. The predictions from the model were compared with observed data. The reasonable fit suggests the adequacy of the model.展开更多

The growth velocity and final stable height of the grain column inside the pipe can be controlled by varying the vibration conditions. In this paper, we discuss those experimental findings. We establish a mathematic relation between the grain column height(h) and time(t), and by using the relation we discuss the change of the growth velocity( dh/ dt) and acceleration( d^2h/ dt^2) with t and h, respectively. We also analyze the mechanism of the rising motion of the grains during vibration. Furthermore, we derive a theoretical expression for describing the final stable height(h st), which shows that the main factors influencing the height are vibration strength(Γ), bulk density of grains, inner diameter of the pipe, and vibration frequency, and that h st increases nonlinearly in the presence of air and linearly in a vacuum environment with increasing Γ.展开更多

However, its inherent brittleness poses machining problems. This study employed Elliptical Ultrasonic Vibration Milling (EUVM) to address these problems. Considering the influence of machining parameters on vibration patterns of EUVM, a separation time model was established to analyze the vibration evolutionary process, thereby instructing the cutting mechanism. On this basis, deep discussions regarding chip formation, cutting force, edge breakage, and subsurface layer deformation were conducted for EUVM and Conventional Milling (CM). Chip morphology showed the chip formation was rooted in the periodic brittle fracture. Local dimples proved that the thermal effect of high-speed cutting improved the plasticity of γ-TiAl. EUVM achieved a maximum 18.17% reduction in cutting force compared with CM. The force variation mechanism differed with changes in the cutting speed or the vibration amplitude, and its correlation with thermal softening, strain hardening, and vibratory cutting effects was analyzed. EUVM attained desirable edge breakage by achieving smaller fracture lengths. The fracture mechanisms of different phases were distinct, causing a surge in edge fracture size of γ-TiAl under microstructural differences. In terms of subsurface deformation, EUVM also showed strengthening effects. Noteworthy, the lamellar deformation patterns under the cutting removal state differed from the quasi-static, which was categorized by the orientation angles. Additionally, the electron backscattering diffraction provided details of the influence of microstructural difference on the orientation and the deformation of grains in the subsurface layer. The results demonstrate that EUVM is a promising machining method for γ-TiAl and guide further research and development of EUVM γ-TiAl.展开更多

文摘Superior strength and high-temperature performance make γ-TiAl vital for lightweight aero-engines. The results demonstrate that EUVM is a promising machining method for γ-TiAl and guide further research and development of EUVM γ-TiAl.

文摘Strong surface impact will produce strong vibration, which will pose a threat to the safety of nearby buried pipelines and other important lifeline projects.Based on the verified numerical method,a comprehensive numerical parameter analysis is conducted on the key influencing factors of the vibration isolation hole(VIH),which include hole diameter, hole net spacing, hole depth, hole number, hole arrangement, and soil parameters. The results indicate that a smaller ratio of net spacing to hole diameter, the deeper the hole, the multi-row hole, the hole adoption of staggered arrangements, and better site soil conditions can enhance the efficiency of the VIH barrier. The average maximum vibration reduction efficiency within the vibration isolation area can reach 42.2%.The vibration safety of adjacent oil pipelines during a dynamic compaction projection was evaluated according to existing standards, and the measurement of the VIH was recommended to reduce excessive vibration. The single-row vibration isolation scheme and three-row staggered arrangement with the same hole parameters are suggested according to different cases. The research findings can serve as a reference for the vibration safety analysis, assessment, and control of adjacent underground facilities under the influence of strong surface impact loads.

文摘To investigate the wind⁃induced vibration re⁃sponse characteristics of multispan double⁃layer cable photo⁃voltaic(PV)support structures, wind tunnel tests using an aeroelastic model were carried out to obtain the wind⁃induced vibration response data of a three⁃span four⁃row double⁃layer cable PV support system. The wind⁃induced vibration characteristics with different PV module tilt angles, wind speeds, and wind direction angles were analyzed. The results showed that the double⁃layer cable large⁃span flexible PV support can effectively control the wind⁃induced vibration response and prevent the occur⁃rence of flutter under strong wind conditions. The maxi⁃mum value of the wind⁃induced vibration displacement of the flexible PV support system occurs in the windward first row.The upstream module has a significant shading effect on the downstream module, with a maximum effect of 23%.The most unfavorable wind direction angles of the structure are 0°and 180°.The change of the wind direction angle in the range of 0°to 30°has little effect on the wind vi⁃bration response. The change in the tilt angle of the PV modules has a greater impact on the wind vibration in the downwind direction and a smaller impact in the upwind di⁃rection.Special attention should be paid to the structural wind⁃resistant design of such systems in the upwind side span.

文摘A numerical simulation analysis is conducted to examine the unsteady hydrodynamic characteristics of vortex-induced vibration(VIV)and the suppression effect of helical strakes on VIV in subsea pipelines. The analysis uses the standard k−εturbulence model for 4.5-and 12.75-inch pipes, and its accuracy is verified by comparing the results with large-scale hydrodynamic experiments. These experiments are designed to evaluate the suppression efficiency of VIV with and without helical strakes, focusing on displacement and drag coefficients under different flow conditions.Furthermore, the influence of important geometric parameters of the helical strakes on drag coefficients and VIV suppression efficiency at different flow rates is compared and discussed.Numerical results agree well with experimental data for drag coefficient and vortex shedding frequency.Spring-pipe self-excited vibration experimental tests reveal that the installation of helical strakes substantially reduces the drag coefficient of VIV within a certain flow rate range, achieving suppression efficiencies exceeding 90%with strake heights larger than 0.15D.Notably,the optimized parameter combination of helical strakes, with a pitch of 15D,a fin height of 0.2D,and 45°edge slopes, maintains high suppression efficiency, thereby exhibiting superior performance. This study provides a valuable reference for the design and application of helical strakes and VIV suppression in subsea engineering.

文摘The vibration response and noise caused by subway trains can affect the safety and comfort of superstructures. To study the dynamic response characteristics of subway stations and superstructures under train loads with a hard combination,a numerical model is developed in this study. The indoor model test verified the accuracy of the numerical model. The influence laws of different hard combinations, train operating speeds and modes were studied and evaluated accordingly. The results show that the frequency corresponding to the peak vibration acceleration level of each floor of the superstructure property is concentrated at 10–20 Hz.The vibration response decreases in the high-frequency parts and increases in the lowfrequency parts with increasing distance from the source.Furthermore, the factors, such as train operating speed, operating mode, and hard combination type, will affect the vibration of the superstructure. The vibration response under the reversible operation of the train is greater than that of the unidirectional operation. The operating speed of the train is proportional to its vibration response. The vibration amplification area appears between the middle and the top of the superstructure at a higher train speed. Its vibration acceleration level will exceed the limit value of relevant regulations, and vibration-damping measures are required.Within the scope of application, this study provides some suggestions for constructing subway stations and superstructures.

文摘The gear transmission system directly affects the operational performance of high-speed trains(HST).However, current research on gear transmission systems of HST often overlooks the effects of gear eccentricity and running resistance, and the dynamic models of gear transmission system are not sufficiently comprehensive. This paper aims to establish an electromechanical coupling dynamic model of HST traction transmission system and study its electromechanical coupling vibration characteristics,in which the internal excitation factors such as gear eccentricity,time-varying meshing stiffness, backlash, meshing error, and external excitation factors such as electromagnetic torque and running resistance are stressed. The research results indicate that gear eccentricity and running resistance have a significant impact on the stability of the system, and gear eccentricity leads to intensified system vibration and decreased anti-interference ability. In addition, the characteristic frequency of gear eccentricity can be extracted from mechanical signals and current signals as a preliminary basis for eccentricity detection, and electrical signals can also be used to monitor changes in train running resistance in real time. The results of this study provide some useful insights into designing dynamic performance parameters for HST transmission systems and monitoring train operational states.
文摘The present technical paper outlines the details of the controlled blasting techniques used to optimize blasting pattern for excavation of hard rock near the Bhira Earthen Dam in Maharashtra,India. In this connection,a series of experimental blasts were conducted by adjusting various blast design parameters at project site. The safe charge weight per delay was kept between 0.125 and 0.375 kg.The outcomes of these experimental blasts were analyzed to recommend optimized blasting patterns and methods for the overall excavation process during actual blasting operations.Blast design parameters, including the maximum quantity of explosive per delay, hole depth, burden and spacing between holes were optimized by using a site-specific attenuation equation, taking into account the proximity of the dam and tunnel from the blasting area.Peak particle velocity(PPV)level of 10 mm/s and 50 mm/s respectively were adopted as the safe vibration level for ensuring safety of the Bhira Earthen Dam and the nearby tunnel from the adverse effects of blast vibrations by analyzing the dominant frequency of ground vibrations observed and also by reviewing various international standards.Frequency of the ground vibrations observed on the dam and tunnel from majority of the blasts was found to be more than 10 Hz and 50 Hz respectively.During the entire period of blasting, the blast vibrations were recorded to be far lower than the safe vibration level set for these structures.Maximum Vibration level of about 0.8 mm/s and 35 mm/s were observed on dam and tunnel respectively which are far lower than the safe vibration level adopted for these structures.Hence, the entire excavation work was completed successfully and safely, without endangering the safety of dam or tunnel.

文摘An experimental analysis of the slug-induced vibration(SIV)of a flexible catenary riser with an aspect ratio of 130 is reported in this work. The vibration responses and internal slug flow details at different gas-liquid ratios(Q_(g)/Q_(l))and mixture velocities(vm)are non-intrusively and simultaneously captured by high-speed cameras. Both the in-plane and out-of-plane responses of the catenary riser are excited in all considered cases. The slug flow characteristics, including translational velocities, slug lengths, recurrence frequencies, and pressure variations, are analyzed and dis-cussed,as are the dynamic responses of the riser in terms of the amplitudes,space-varying frequency, and modal weight. The dominant modal response based on the root-mean-square amplitude profiles does not match that based on the dominant frequency.Three mode switching types are identified based on the RMS amplitude profiles and the dominant frequency. When vm is small,no mode switching(NMS)is observed in either the in-plane or out-of-plane responses. For mode switching I(MS I),the switching between the first and second modes in the in-plane response is induced by slug flow with different recurrence frequencies in cases of large Q_(g)/Q_(l).However,there is no mode switching in the out-of-plane response. The switching between the first and third modes for the in-plane response and the second and fourth modes for the out-of-plane response(MS II)occurs in cases of relatively high vm and low Q_(g)/Q_(l).

文摘This study examines the adaptive boundary control problem of flexible marine riser with internal flow coupling. The dynamic model of the flexible marine riser system with internal flow coupling is derived using the Hamiltonian principle. An analysis of internal flow’s influence on the vibration characteristics of flexible marine risers is conducted. Then, for the uncertain environmental disturbance, the adaptive fuzzy logic system is introduced to dynamically approximate the boundary disturbance, and a robust adaptive fuzzy boundary control is proposed. The uniform boundedness of the closed-loop system is proved based on Lyapunov theory. The well-posedness of the closed-loop system is proved by operator semigroup theory. The proposed control’s effectiveness is validated through comparison with existing control methods.
