Methods One hundred and eighty patients with cervical vertigo were divided into group A [acupuncture at R6nyfng (人迎ST 9) and Fengchi (风池 GB 20), and frontal line], group B [acupuncture at Jing jiaji (颈夹脊), GB 20 and Baihui (百会 GV 20)] and group C [intravenous infusion with ligustrazine and oral administration with flunarizine] according to simple randomization, with 60 cases in each group. For the patients in group A and group B, the treatment was conducted once a day, and ten times were considered as one course of treatment. Two days were free of treatment between two courses, and two courses were needed. For the patients in group C, the treatment was conducted for fifteen days. The contents of NPY, ET and CGRP in plasma before and after treatment were detected in patients with cervical vertigo. Results The contents of NPY in plasma of patients in the three groups after treatment were markedly lower than that before treatment (all P〈0.01), and the differences were not statistically significant when compared the descending degrees among three groups (P〉0.05). The contents of ET in plasma of patients in the three groups after treatment were markedly lower than that before treatment (P〈0.05, P〈0.01), the descending degree in group A was greater than that in group B and group C, and the difference was statistically significant (P〈0.O1, P〈O.05); while the difference was not statistically significant when compared the descending degrees between group B and group C (P〉0.05). The contents of CGRP in plasma of patients in the three groups after treatment were markedly higher than that before treatment (P〈0.05, P〈O.O1), the increasing degree in group A was greater than that in group B and group C, and the difference was statistically significant (both P〈0.05); while the difference was not statistically significant when compared the increasing degrees between group B and group C (P〉0.05). Conclusion Three vertigo-stopping needles, acupuncture and medication can regulate the contents of NPY, ET and CGRP in plasma of patients with cervical vertigo, while three vertigo-stopping needles is significantly superior to acupuncture and medication in reducing ET and increasing CGRP.展开更多

Methods Forty CV patients met the inclusion criteria were enrolled and treated with acupuncture at bilateral LU 7 points, once daily with 10 times as a course. The changes of blood flow velocity in bilateral vertebral artery and basilar artery were observed through transcranial doppler sonography (TCD) before treatment, after deqi with acupuncture and after a course of treatment, respectively. The scores and therapeutic efficacy on clinical symptoms were assessed according to CV symptoms and the functional assessment scale as well as the Criteria-for Diagnosis and Curative Effect in TCM Syndromes before treatment and after a course of treatment. Results Before treatment, after deqi and after a course of treatment, the blood flow velocity of basilar artery (BA), left vertebral artery (LVA) and right vertebral artery (RVA) in 22 patients with a decreased blood flow velocity were respectively 23.20±4.84 vs 26.30 ± 4.17 vs 29.20 ± 4.20 (mm/s, BA), 21.65 ± 3.62 vs 24.20 ± 2.89 vs 26.40 ± 3.62 (mm/s, LVA) and 21.90±3.04 vs 24.25±3.01 vs 26.50_±3.95 (mm/s, RVA), while in 18 patients with an increased blood flow velocity were respectively 39.94 ± 8.24 vs 35.17 ± 4.84 vs 32.06 ± 3.49 (mm/s, BA), 41.83 ± 5.64 vs 37.28 ± 2.32 vs 35.61 ± 2.09 (mm/s, LVA) and 37.11 ± 9.83 vs 32.22 ± 6.13 vs 28.11 ± 4.12 (mm/s, RVA). Except that the difference of blood flow velocity of RVA was not significant in patients with an increased blood flow velocity before treatment and after deqi (P 〉 0.05), the Vm of all vessels in 40 patients was improved after deqi with acupuncture and a course of treatment (P〈0.01, P〈0.05). According to CV symptoms and the functional assessment scale, before treatment and after a course of treatment, the scores were 15.68 ± 5.35 and 26.30 ± 3.76, respectively, indicating that after a course of treatment, the symptoms were significantly improved (P 〈 0.01). According to the Criteria for Diagnosis and Curative E.f]ect in TCM Syndromes, after a course of treatment, the total effective rate was 100% (40/40) and the cured rate was 55.0% (22/40). Conclusion Acupuncture at LU 7 not only improves the blood supply of vertebral-basilar artery in CV patients, but also has a significant curative effect on improving the clinical symptoms.展开更多

Methods:The concentration of ET and CGRP in 64 patients with CV and 30 controls was determined by radioimmunity method. The average blood flow velocity (Vm) of bilateral vertebral arteries was detected by Transcranial Doppler(TCD). Results:Plasma concen- tration ofET(91.48 ± 9.08 pg/ml) and ET/CGRP ratio value(2.88 ± 0.52) in vertebrobasilar arteriospasm group were both higher than those in vertebrobasilar non-arteriospasm group and in controls, while CGRP concentration(30.66 ± 6.05 pg/ml) in vertebrobasilar arteriospasm group was lower than that in vertebrobasilar non-arteriospasm group and controls respectively. The Vm of bilateral verte- bral arteries in vertebrobasilar arteriospasm group(67.97 ± 11.64 cm/s ) was higher than that in vertebrobasilar non-arteriospasm group and controls respectively, having a positive correlation with ET concentration and ET/CGRP ratio value(r1=0.52, P 〈 0.05; r2=0.59, P 〈 0.05), but a negative correlation with CGRP concentration(r3=-0.54, P 〈 0.05). There was no significant difference in ET and CGRP concentration, ET/CGRP ratio value and the Vm of bilateral vertebral arteries between vertebrobasilar non-arteriospasm group and the control group. Conclusion: All the results indicate that ET and CGRP are possibly the most important substance factors at the onset of CV with vertebrobasilar arteriospasm, and their imbalance of regulating vertebrobasilar arterial contraction and relaxation may play an important role in the onset of CV with vertebrobasilar arteriospasm.展开更多

文摘This editorial explores the potential integration of non-Western medicine into radiotherapy for cervical cancer. While radiotherapy remains a radical treatment for cervical cancer, its associated toxicity and decline in quality of life can significantly impact patients’lives.Currently, most treatments are supportive, with no specific treatment options available in Western medicine.Non-Western medicine, often less toxic and easier to administer, has shown promising results when used alongside radiotherapy for cervical cancer.Despite these potential benefits, challenges such as limited evidence and restricted application areas persist. While non-Western medicines may offer potential improvements in chemoradiotherapy outcomes for cervical cancer, further research is necessary to substantiate these benefits.
