A numerical method for predicting bursting strength of composite rocket motor case considering filament winding process-induced stress

A numerical method to predict the bursting strength of filament wound composite rocket motor case is proposed here.This method can evaluate the longitudinal stress evolution of each composite layer as impregnated filaments with fiber tension are wound layer by layer,and consider the effects of accumulated stress and deformation during filament winding on the bursting strength of composite case.Taking∅520 mm composite cases as a case study,the filament-winding-process-induced stress and deformation as well as progressive damage behavior are numerically predicted,followed by a comparison with experimental results.The numerical results show that the predicted bursting pressures for composite cases manufactured on the mandrels with and without a flexible component are 14.20 MPa and 21.40 MPa,respectively.These values exhibit slight deviation from the measured pressures of 13.50 MPa and 21.57 MPa.Moreover,the predicted damage locations,situated respectively in the dome and cylinder,agree well with the experimental observation.These observations indicate that use of flexible component reduces the load-bearing capacity of the domes.Furthermore,it validates the reliability and accuracy of the proposed numerical method in predicting the bursting strength of composite cases. 展开更多

As energy crisis and environment pollution all around the world threaten the widespread use of fossil fuels,compressed natural gas(CNG)vehicles are explored as an alternative to the conventional gasoline powered vehicles.Because of the limited space available for the car,the composite pressure vessel(TypeⅡ)has been applied to the CNG vehicles to reach large capacity and weight lightening vehicles.High pressure vessel(TypeⅡ)is composed of a composite layer and a metal liner.The metal liner is formed by the deep drawing and ironing(D.D.I.)process,which is a complex process of deep drawing and ironing.The cylinder part is reinforced by composite layer wrapped through the filament winding process and is bonded to the liner by the curing process.In this study,an integrated design method was presented by establishing the techniques for FE analysis of entire processes(D.D.I.,filament winding and curing processes)to manufacture the CNG composite pressure vessel(TypeⅡ).Dimensions of the dies and the punches of the 1 st(cup drawing),2 nd(redrawing-ironing 1-ironing 2)and 3 rd(redrawing-ironing)stages were calculated theoretically,and shape of tractrix die to be satisfied with the minimum forming load was suggested for life improvement and manufacturing costs in the D.D.I.process.Thickness of the composite material was determined in the filament winding process,finally,conditions of the curing process(number of heating stage,curing temperature,heating rate and time)were proposed to reinforce adhesive strength between the composite layers. 展开更多

Filament winding has emerged as the main process for carbon fiber reinforced plastic(CFRP) fabrication, and tension control plays a key role in enhancing the quality of the winding products. With the continuous improvement of prod?uct quality and e ciency, the precision of the tension control system is constantly improving. In this paper, a novel tension control method is proposed, which can regulate the fiber tension and transport speed of the winding process by governing the outputs of three di erent driven rollers(the torque of the unwind roll, the torque of the magnetic powder brake roller, and the speed of the master speed roller) in three levels. The mechanical structures and dynamic models of the driven rollers and idle rollers are established by considering the time?varying features of the roller radius and inertia. Moreover, the influence of parameters and speed variation on fiber tension is investigated using the increment model. Subsequently, the control method is proposed by applying fiber tension in three levels accord?ing to the features of the three driven rollers. An adaptive fuzzy controller is designed for tuning the PID parameters online to control the speed of the master speed roller. Simulation is conducted for verifying the performance and sta?bility of the proposed tension control method by comparing with those of the conventional PID control method. The result reveals that the proposed method outperforms the conventional method. Finally, an experimental platform is constructed, and the proposed system is applied to a winding machine. The performance and stability of the tension control system are demonstrated via a series of experiments using carbon fiber under di erent reference speeds and tensions. This paper proposes a novel tension control method to regulate the fiber tension and transport speed. 展开更多

Two different conditions are considered in this study. One is Bridge condition on the concave surface and the other is Slip line condition in the process of patch winding. This paper presents the judgment principles and corresponding solutions by applying differential geometry theory and space geometry theory. To verify the feasibility of the patch winding method, the winding control code is programmed. Furthermore, the winding experiments on an airplane inlet and a vane are performed. From the experiments, it shows that the patch winding theory has the advantages of flexibility, easy design and application. 展开更多

Based on the elastic theory of cylindrical shells and the theory of composite laminates,a prediction model for the residual prestress of the simplified round composite barrel for railgun is established.Only the fibre pretension is considered in this model.A three dimensional numerical simulation for the residual prestress in the railgun barrel is carried out,by combining the temperature differential method with the element birth and death technology.The results obtained by the two methods are compared.It reveals that the distribution trends of residual prestress are consistent.And the difference for residual prestress in the filament wound composite housing of barrel is relatively small.The same finite element method is used to analysis the residual prestress in the non-simplified composite barrels for railgun,which are under different control modes of winding tension.The results mean that the residual prestress in barrel will increase while the taper coefficient for winding is decreasing.Therefore,the sealing performance in bore is improved,but the strength of the filament wound composite housing drops.In addition,the axial and circumferential residual prestress in the filament wound composite housing with constant torque winding are close to the ones in iso-stress design for barrel. 展开更多

The pattern design and optimization procedure was put forward according to imposed design requirements. The mathematical model and movement equations of winding torns are obtained by analytic geometry. A computer simulation system of filament winding process based on optimal pattern design was developed to verify the correctness and practicability of the winding pattern. The optimum pattern and winding simulation were performed by this system. The simulation results show that the pattern satisfies both winding principles and structural optimization. The recommended design-oriented method can be applied to the preliminary design of filament wound toroidal vessels. 展开更多

Strain-Rate Dependency of a Unidirectional Filament Wound Composite under Compression

This article presents the results of experimental studies concerning the dynamic deformation and failure of a unidirectional carbon fiber reinforced plastic(T700/LY113)under compression.The test samples were manufactured through the filament winding of flat plates.To establish the strain rate dependencies of the strength and elastic modulus of the material,dynamic tests were carried out using a drop tower,the Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar method,and standard static tests.The samples were loaded both along and perpendicular to the direction of the reinforcing fiber.The applicability of the obtained samples for static and dynamic tests was confirmed through finite elementmodeling and the high-speed imaging of the deformation and failure of samples during testing.As a result of the conducted experimental studies,static and dynamic stress-strain curves,time dependencies of deformation and the stress and strain rates of the samples during compression were obtained.Based on these results,the strain rate dependencies of the strength and elasticity modulus in the strain rate range of 0.001-6001/s are constructed.It is shown that the strain rate significantly affects the strength and deformation characteristics of the unidirectional carbon fiber composites under compression.An increase in the strain rate by 5 orders of magnitude increased the strength and elastic modulus along the fiber direction by 42%and 50%,respectively.Perpendicular loading resulted in a strength and elastic modulus increase by 58%and 50%,respectively.The average strength along the fibers at the largest studied strain rate was about 1000MPa.The obtained results can be used to design structural elements made of polymer composite materials operating under dynamic shock loads,as well as to build models of mechanical behavior and failure criteria of such materials,taking into account the strain rate effects. 展开更多

为研究纤维缠绕复合材料性能的影响因素,设计并搭建一种湿法单轴纤维缠绕机,该缠绕机可综合控制缠绕速度、缠绕角度、缠绕张力等成型参数,可实时采集纤维缠绕成型过程中的张力变化。选用玻璃纤维作为增强材料,环氧树脂作为基体材料,采... 为研究纤维缠绕复合材料性能的影响因素,设计并搭建一种湿法单轴纤维缠绕机,该缠绕机可综合控制缠绕速度、缠绕角度、缠绕张力等成型参数,可实时采集纤维缠绕成型过程中的张力变化。选用玻璃纤维作为增强材料,环氧树脂作为基体材料,采用设计的纤维缠绕机制备玻璃纤维缠绕增强的复合材料,通过力学性能和摩擦性能试验对复合材料性能进行验证。结果表明:利用该缠绕机制备的复合材料力学性能得到了提升,与纯环氧树脂相比,弯曲强度增强了2.24 MPa,压缩强度增强了120.92 MPa,硬度提高了11.5HD;同时复合材料摩擦学性能也得到明显提升,其中平均摩擦因数均降低了0.01左右,磨损量降低了16.2%。测试结果验证了设计的缠绕机可用于制备纤维缠绕复合材料。 展开更多

高超声速低密度风洞FLEET测速实验研究

高超声速低密度风洞试验对高超声速飞行器的气动特性研究至关重要,气流速度是其中最受关注的重要参数之一.高超声速低密度风洞流场具有流速快和密度低等特点,给速度测量带来很大挑战.常规测速技术在高超声速低密度流场中应用时局限较多,... 高超声速低密度风洞试验对高超声速飞行器的气动特性研究至关重要,气流速度是其中最受关注的重要参数之一.高超声速低密度风洞流场具有流速快和密度低等特点,给速度测量带来很大挑战.常规测速技术在高超声速低密度流场中应用时局限较多,而FLEET技术具有不干扰流场和无需外加示踪物等优点,且直接以风洞工作气体为示踪分子,有望在高超声速低密度流场速度测量中发挥重要作用.文章首先研究了不同压强对FLEET信号的影响,发现随着压强的降低,光丝中心宽度逐渐展宽;在低密度条件下FLEET信号仍具有较高强度,可用于流场的速度测量分析.随后在Φ0.3 m高超声速低密度风洞中分别对Ma5.0和Ma16.0来流条件开展了FLEET测速实验,结果表明,随延迟时间的增加,光丝中心宽度保持展宽趋势,荧光信号强度逐渐降低;与Ma5.0相比,在Ma16.0条件下荧光信号强度衰减速率更慢和光丝中心宽度更宽.通过FLEET实验测得的Ma5.0和Ma16.0条件下,风洞来流速度与皮托管测量值的最大相对偏差分别为0.31%和0.49%,表明FLEET技术能够为高超声速和低密度稀薄流动速度测量提供有效技术手段. 展开更多

三维缠绕技术是一种新兴的复合材料预成型体制造技术,可以通过机器人辅助缠绕解决复杂芯模大角度纤维铺放难题,在一定长度内对任意几何形状芯模做环形缠绕。但是三维缠绕的控制方式还不成熟,对异型芯模的缠绕轨迹较为复杂,所得的纤维轨... 三维缠绕技术是一种新兴的复合材料预成型体制造技术,可以通过机器人辅助缠绕解决复杂芯模大角度纤维铺放难题,在一定长度内对任意几何形状芯模做环形缠绕。但是三维缠绕的控制方式还不成熟,对异型芯模的缠绕轨迹较为复杂,所得的纤维轨迹也难以预测。经过对三维缠绕纤维沉积过程的研究,采用运动学仿真法建立三维缠绕仿真模型,实现对三维缠绕纤维轨迹的快速预测。首先对异型芯模进行网格重构,提升了仿真的精度;然后利用空间离散点位模拟围绕复杂芯模时丝嘴的运动轨迹;最后利用纤维沉积机制作为判据,实现仿真纤维轨迹的迭代更新。三维缠绕仿真模型有两个主要输入参数:旋转环步进距离与旋转环偏转角度。通过现场试验验证,步进距离增大时,芯模的面密度会稳定降低,旋转环的动态偏转也会直接影响到弯曲芯模内外侧纤维轨迹。对直芯模进行运动学仿真所得试验结果与纤维沉积理论计算值对比,误差小于0.2%。理论与实践相结合的研究证明了运动学仿真法对三维缠绕技术仿真的可靠性与准确性。 展开更多

长丝卷装成型中凸边与网丝缺陷的数值分析及预测

为实现长丝卷装的高品质成型目标,在凸边和网丝两类主要成型缺陷内在生成机制的基础上,构建了一套针对卷绕过程的数值分析模型,模型中修正了传统静力学下的丝条稳定性条件,通过将压辊接触压力纳入卷装两端稳定性分析,进而在设计上获取... 为实现长丝卷装的高品质成型目标,在凸边和网丝两类主要成型缺陷内在生成机制的基础上,构建了一套针对卷绕过程的数值分析模型,模型中修正了传统静力学下的丝条稳定性条件,通过将压辊接触压力纳入卷装两端稳定性分析,进而在设计上获取更小的换向区曲率半径ρ_(min)以减少凸边效应。该模型利用迭代算法求解在分级精密卷绕模式下的各分级直径D_(n),同时引入了综合换向区宽度Z’与飞丝影响因子ksec,旨在就不同分级下可能引发的两类成型缺陷进行量化分析评估。初步构建了一个基于数值分析的成型缺陷预测模型,旨在为卷绕机的工艺参数调整提供理论指导,相较于传统的实机调试与经验性试纺、试错法,通过该模型可以预测成型过程中可能出现的缺陷,从而优化工艺参数设置,提升试纺效率。 展开更多

氢能是具有高能、环保、可再生等诸多优势的清洁能源,近年来得到了快速发展,但氢气的储运技术存在滞后,严重限制了氢能产业的大规模应用。目前,高压气态储氢是最为成熟的储氢技术,其中高压储氢气瓶作为储存氢气的载体,是实现氢能大规模... 氢能是具有高能、环保、可再生等诸多优势的清洁能源,近年来得到了快速发展,但氢气的储运技术存在滞后,严重限制了氢能产业的大规模应用。目前,高压气态储氢是最为成熟的储氢技术,其中高压储氢气瓶作为储存氢气的载体,是实现氢能大规模应用的关键。随着氢能产业应用对储氢密度要求的不断提高,对储氢气瓶的安全性和可靠性的要求也越来越高。碳纤维及其复合材料(CFRP)具有重量轻、耐腐蚀、疲劳性能好等优点,通过碳纤维缠绕成型制备的高压储氢气瓶能够满足高压氢气储存与运输要求,对氢能产业发展具有重要意义。文章对高压储氢气瓶进行了介绍,并对CFRP在高压储氢气瓶中的应用研究现状、制备技术、应用挑战及发展趋势进行了梳理和概述,以期对未来CFRP在高压储氢气瓶中的应用研究有所启发。 展开更多

本文通过数控加工插补理论和数值模拟仿真方法,基于数控缠绕机额定速度和加速度运动参数,介绍一种高速数控缠绕机的缠绕程序方法。数控缠绕机的高速缠绕程序可以实现缠绕过程的运动光顺性、缠绕效率和缠绕质量,稳定光顺的丝嘴运动轨迹... 本文通过数控加工插补理论和数值模拟仿真方法,基于数控缠绕机额定速度和加速度运动参数,介绍一种高速数控缠绕机的缠绕程序方法。数控缠绕机的高速缠绕程序可以实现缠绕过程的运动光顺性、缠绕效率和缠绕质量,稳定光顺的丝嘴运动轨迹可以有效地避免缠绕过程卡顿、抖动造成引起的缠绕滑纱问题。本文基于纤维缠绕角连续稳定原则,讨论分析运动步长对于缠绕程序行数的影响;基于运动轨迹的时间速度曲线连续性,讨论分析了高速高效缠绕程序的分析方法;以期解决影响高速缠绕程序的两个编程因素,一是缠绕程序的程序行数控制问题、二是各程序行进给率F值的速度连续性问题。本文给出基于一个简单数控程序,进行数控缠绕机的加速度、速度、加速行程的测量方法,用于缠绕程序数轴的程序加速度与物理加速匹配性分析。 展开更多
