Author researches a lot of the mathematical models and the related conventional material constants in the traditional and the modem mechanics; to adopt two types of variables a and D, for the fatigue-damage-fracture behaviors to elastic-plastic steels contained flaws, to put forward several calculation models, which are the driving force and the life prediction expressions at each stage and in whole process; for the key parameters .A1 and ,A2 in two stages, there are functional relation with other conventional material constants σF,m1 and M2,λ2, they are defined as the new calculable comprehensive material constants, and indicate their physical and geometrical meanings. In addition, for conversion methods between two types of variables, relevant calculating example is provided. Thereby, make a linking between the fracture mechanics and the damage mechanics, communicating their relationships. This works for saving man powers and funds on fatigue-damage-fracture testing that will be having practical significance. 展开更多

In this research paper,we have presented variable area type capacitive sensor signal conditioning system for angular displacement measurement and for this purpose we have used timer LM555 based astable multivibrator and universal frequency to digital converter (UFDC). Due to variation in angular displacement in the variable area type capacitor which is connected in the timer based astable circuit,capacitance changes which in turn changes the time period of the timer circuit output. The time period of the timer output waveform is linear with the capacitance and hence linear with angular displacement. The timer output is further processed with UFDC for the measurement. The experimental results show that the time period is linear with the angular displacement in the range of 0- 180° and the uncertainty we should associate it with this average time period value is the standard deviation of the mean,often called the standard error (SE),which is ± 0.023 μs. Because of the simplicity,this measurement system can be used in both electronic and industrial instrumentation. 展开更多

OBJECTIVE:To explore the characteristics of blood glucose excursions of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with three different Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) syndromes.METHODS:One hundred and nine patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were recruited from the Department of Endocrinology and the Department of TCM of the Sixth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University.Subjects were divided into three groups according to TCM syndrome:intrinsic Damp(n- 42),Yin deficiency and internal Heat(n = 25),and Qi and Yin deficiency(n- 42).Subcutaneous interstitial glucose was monitored with a continuous glucose monitoring system for 3consecutive days to investigate the glycemic profile in each group.Plasma C-peptide levels were measured,and an arginine test was taken in 10 patients randomly selected from each group.Glucose data and glycemic variability were analyzed to investigate the differences among the groups.The change in C-peptide levels and the results from arginine trial were used to evaluate β cell function.RESULTS:Indicators reflecting blood glucose level were the highest in subjects with Yin deficiency and internal Heat syndrome,and parameters reflecting glycemic variability were the lowest in those with Qi and Yin deficiency syndrome.The change in C-peptide levels showed that subjects with Qi and Yin deficiency syndrome had the best βcell function among the three groups;this was confirmed by the arginine trial.CONCLUSION:Patients with Qi and Yin deficiency syndrome had a more stable blood glucose profile,as glycemic variability was higher in those with intrinsic Damp syndrome and those with Yin deficiency and internal Heat syndrome. 展开更多

To analyze the variability and phenotype of envelope glycoprotein (Env) of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) prevalent in Heilongjiang province, cloning of the full-length env gene from the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of an HIV-1 positive individual in Heilongjiang province in China was performed by using conserved region primers. The amplified PCR products were cloned into a plasmid vector and sequenced. Phylogenetic analysis was done upon the full-length Env amino acid sequence. Subsequently, an HIV-1 pseudotyped virus bearing the envelope protein was constructed and the infectivity was examined using U87 cell lines expressing CD4 with either CCR5 or CXCR4. As the result, two functional env clones named as CHNHLJ03009c34 (GenBank Accession No: AY905493 ) and CHNHLJ03009c33 were obtained. It was found that the homology between CHNHLJ03009c34 and an HIV-1 subtype B' strain, RIA-2, isolated from Yunnan province, was 91.52% through comparing and analyzing full-length Env amino acid sequence of HIV-1 isolated from either China or abroad. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that CHNHLJ03009c34 has the closest molecular relation with strain RIA2 based on analyzing the full-length of the Env, while it became an independent branch upon analyzing the sequences of C2-V3 region of the Env. The secondary structure analysis of the envelope protein showed that the antigenicity and hydrophobicity of the strain demonstrated have no definite difference from that of RL42. Examination of infectivity showed that pseudovirus CHNHLI03009c34 could only infect U87. CD4. CCR5 cells, indicating that it was a RS-tropic HIV-1. In the conclusion, two HIV-1 env clones from an infected individual in Heilongjiang province have been identified as subtype B' and RS-tropic HIV-1. This is the first report on the analysis of primary isolates in Heilongjiang province. 展开更多

Purpose–This study aims to study the connected vehicle(CV)impact on highway operational performance under a mixed CV and regular vehicle(RV)environment.Design/methodology/approach–The authors implemented a mixed trafficflow model,along with a CV speed control model,in the simulation environment.According to the different traffic characteristics between CVs and RVs,this researchfirst analyzed how the operation of CVs can affect highway capacity under both one-lane and multi-lane cases.A hypothesis was then made that there shall exist a critical CV penetration rate that can significantly show the benefit of CV to the overall traffic.To prove this concept,this study simulated the mixed traffic pattern under various conditions.Findings–The results of this research revealed that performing optimal speed control to CVs will concurrently benefit RVs by improving highway capacity.Furthermore,a critical CV penetration rate should exist at a specified traffic demand level,which can significantly reduce the speed difference between RVs and CVs.The results offer effective insight to understand the potential impacts of different CV penetration rates on highway operation performance.Originality/value–This approach assumes that there shall exist a critical CV penetration rate that can maximize the benefits of CV implementations.CV penetration rate(the proportion of CVs in mixed traffic)is the key factor affecting the impacts of CV on freeway operational performance.The evaluation criteria for freeway operational performance are using average travel time under different given traffic demand patterns. 展开更多

We show the existence and multiplicity of solutions to degenerate p(x)-Laplace equations with Leray-Lions type operators using direct methods and critical point theories in Calculus of Variations and prove the uniqueness and nonnegativeness of solutions when the principal operator is monotone and the nonlinearity is nonincreasing. Our operator is of the most general form containing all previous ones and we also weaken assumptions on the operator and the nonlinearity to get the above results. Moreover, we do not impose the restricted condition on p(x) and the uniform monotonicity of the operator to show the existence of three distinct solutions. 展开更多
