W...The vibration problem of a pile of arbitrary segments withvariable modulus modules under ex- citing force is established, inwhich the influence of the soil under pile toe and the surroundingsis tak- en into account. With Laplace transforms, the transmitfunctions for velocity and displacement of pile are derived.Furthermore, in terms of the convolution theorem and inversed Laplacetransform, an analytical solution for the time domain response of apile subjected to semi-sine impulse is developed, which is thetheoretical basis of the sonic method in pile integrity testing. Basedon the solution, the vibration properties of pile with sharp orcontinuous modulus are studied. The validity of this approach isverified through field dynamic tests on some engineering piles. Itshows that the theoretical predic- tion ad the response of the pileare in good agreement.展开更多
Inspired by the microstructure of gecko’s toe,two kinds of polyvinyl chloride(PVC)gels with different modulus were poured on a silicon mold with micropillars,and then a bio-inspired adhesive with variable modulus was...Inspired by the microstructure of gecko’s toe,two kinds of polyvinyl chloride(PVC)gels with different modulus were poured on a silicon mold with micropillars,and then a bio-inspired adhesive with variable modulus was manufactured in this study.The adhesions of variable modulus and fixed modulus bio-inspired adhesives were tested,respectively,on a smooth glass and a printed circuit board(PCB)with different surface structures.The results show that PVC gel bio-inspired adhesives with variable modulus have many advantages compared with the fixed modulus bioinspired adhesives.The adhesion of variable modulus bio-inspired adhesives on the rough PCB surface increased by 2−5 times,and due to the use of variable modulus of PVC gel,the surface micropillars can maintain high aspect ratio and flexible tips at the same time.Moreover,the use of PVC gel makes it easier to demold during the bio-inspired adhesives preparation.An adhesion-desorption device was made according to the movement of the gecko toes,and the PCB was successfully grasped.展开更多
Optogenetic has been widely applied in various pathogenesis investigations of neuropathic diseases since its accurate and targeted regulation of neuronal activity.However,due to the mismatch between the soft tissues a...Optogenetic has been widely applied in various pathogenesis investigations of neuropathic diseases since its accurate and targeted regulation of neuronal activity.However,due to the mismatch between the soft tissues and the optical waveguide,the long-term neural regulation within soft tissue(such as brain and spinal cord)by implantable optical fibers is a large challenge.Herein,we designed a modulus selfadaptive hydrogel optical fiber(MSHOF)with tunable mechanical properties(Young’modulus was tunable in the range of 0.32-10.56MPa)and low light attenuation(0.12-0.21 dB/cm,472nm laser light),which adapts to light transmission under soft tissues.These advantages of MSHOF can ensure the effectiveness of optogenetic stimulation meanwhile safeguarding the safety of the brain/materials interaction interface.In addition,this work provides more design possibilities of MSHOF for photogenetic stimuli and has significant application prospects in photomedical therapy.展开更多

Since the wireless receiver doesn't require a ...The problem of inter symbol interference( ISI) in wireless communication systems caused by multipath propagation when using high order modulation like M-Q AMis solved. Since the wireless receiver doesn't require a training sequence,a blind equalization channel is implemented in the receiver to increase the throughput of the system. To improve the performances of both the blind equalizer and the system,a joint receiving mechanismincluding variable step size( VSS) modified constant modulus algorithms( MC-MA) and modified decision directed modulus algorithms( MD DMA) is proposed to ameliorate the convergence speed and mean square error( MSE) performance and combat the phase error when using high order QAM modulation. The VSS scheme is based on the selection of step size according to the distance between the output of the equalizer and the desired output in the constellation plane. Analysis and simulations showthat the performance of the proposed VSS-MCMA-MD DMA mechanismis better than that of algorithms with a fixed step size. In addition,the MCMA-MDDMA with VSS can performthe phase recovery by itself.展开更多
