In this paper, polynomials are used to approximate the geometric properties of cross-section and certain coefficients of the differential equations. Based on the energy principle and the Galerkin's method, the approximate formulas for calculating the flexural and torsional buckling loads of this kind of columns are developed respectively, and numerical examples are used to verify the correctness of the solutions obtained. The results calculated in this paper provide the basis for demonstrating the stability of thin-walled box columns with variable cross-section. This paper is of practical value.展开更多

The test result shows that in the condition without grouting into the ducts, the cracking load is evidently lower than that with full grouting, and stirrup stress and principal tension stress at the surface of concrete will increase obviously. Meanwhile, the finite element analysis has been done to the test beams. The research is consistent with the analysis of finite element. The research tells that strengthening the detection and management for the vertical prestress grouting quality have an important meaning to prevent cracking of the prestressed concrete box girder bridge and provide one theoretical and testing basis for analyzing the cracking reason of such bridges.展开更多

Due to non-linearity, a numerical approach called Keller-box technique has been used to compute the values of velocity function f and temperature field at different points of dynamic region. The expressions for skin friction and Nusselt number have also been obtained. The dependence of velocity profile and temperature profile on the dimensionless parameter of practical interest has been analyzed in detail by graphs. The dependence of Skin friction and Nusselt number has been seen through tables.展开更多

The method of variable separation is applied and two ordinary differential governing equations are established and solved. The boundary conditions are satisfied rigorously and the solutions are expressed by means of eigen function expansions. The diagram of torque is formulated by trigonometric series and used to determine the coefficients in above expansions. The results of computation provide the chord-wise and span-wise distributions of normal and shear stress in the face plate along with shear stress in the honeycomb core.展开更多

An instrumental variable algorithm is used to identify hybrid continuous-time transfer function models of the Box–Jenkins form from discretetime prefiltered data, where the process model is a continuous-time transfer function, while the noise is represented as a discrete-time ARMA process. A novel penalized maximum-likelihood approach is used for estimating the discrete-time ARMA process and a circulatory noise elimination identification method is employed to estimate process model. The input–output data of a process are affected by additive circulatory noise in a closedloop. The noise-free input–output data of the process are obtained using the proposed method by removing these circulatory noise components. The process model can be achieved by using instrumental variable estimation method with prefiltered noise-free input–output data. The performance of the proposed hybrid parameter estimation scheme is evaluated by the Monte Carlo simulation analysis. Simulation results illustrate the efficacy of the proposed procedure. The methodology has been successfully applied in tuning of IMC based flow controller and a practical application demonstrates the applicability of the algorithm.展开更多

This paper derives the explicit formulas of an element in the set of the generalized HS Jacobian for the projection. In particular, we reveal that the generalized HS Jacobian can be formulated as the combination of a diagonal matrix and few rank-one symmetric matrices, which are crucial for future design of efficient second order nonsmooth methods for solving the related optimization problems.展开更多
