Over the last decades,an expansion of the underground network has been taking place to cope with the increasing amount of moving people and freight. As a consequence,it is of vital importance to guarantee the full functionality of the tunnel network by means of preventive maintenance and the monitoring of the tunnel lining state over time.A new method has been developed for the real-time prediction of the utilization level in tunnel segmental linings based on input monitoring data. The new concept is founded on a framework, which encompasses an offline and an online stage. In the former, the generation of feedforward neural networks is accomplished by employing synthetically produced data.Finite element simulations of the lining structure are conducted to analyze the structural response under multiple loading conditions. The scenarios are generated by assuming ranges of variation of the model input parameters to account for the uncertainty due to the not fully determined in situ conditions.Input and target quantities are identified to better assess the structural utilization of the lining. The latter phase consists in the application of the methodological framework on input monitored data, which allows for a real-time prediction of the physical quantities deployed for the estimation of the lining utilization. The approach is validated on a full-scale test of segmental lining, where the predicted quantities are compared with the actual measurements. Finally,it is investigated the influence of artificial noise added to the training data on the overall prediction performances and the benefits along with the limits of the concept are set out. 展开更多

This paper introduced the theory and approaches of building driving forcemodels revealing the changes in land utilization level by integrating RS, GPS, and GIS technologiesbased on the example of Yuanmou County of Yunnan Province. We first created the land utilizationtype database, natural driving forces for land utilization database, and human driving forces forland utilization database. Then we obtained the dependent and the independent variables of changesin land utilization level by exploring various data. Lastly we screened major factors affectingchanges in land utilization level by using the powerful spatial correlation analysis and maincomponent analysis module of GIS and obtained a multivariable linear regression model of thechangesin land utilization level by using GIS spatial regression analysis module. 展开更多

This paper provides an overview of South Korea’s 20-year journey in adopting building information modeling(BIM) and future direction. It first discusses the six phases of BIM adoption in South Korea, starting from the use of BIM as a marketing tool to its current intelligent BIM phase. The government’s support for BIM-related research and development projects is also highlighted, with a focus on the artificail intelligence (AI)-based architectural design automation project. As the future direction, it explores the integration of AI with BIM in both local and global contexts. The paper presents AIpowered architectural design methods, including AI-powered early architectural design generation and architectural detailing.Compared to AI-based early architectural design generation, architectural detailing is an unexplored research topic. This paper introduces two AI-and BIM-based architectural detailing methods, being developed at Yonsei University:namely,BIM library transplant and Natural language-based Architectural Detailing through Interaction with AI (NADIA). These methods demonstrate how AI-enhanced BIM can enable architects to interactively develop building details using a language model as a conversational AI and a knowledge base, and a BIM authoring tool as a design platform, in the near future. 展开更多
