This paper presents analytieal solutions to the partial differential equations for unsteady flow of the second-order fluid and Maxwell fluid in tube by using the integral transform method. It can be used to analyse the behaviour of axial velocity and shear stress for unsteady flow of nun-Newtonian visco-elastie fluids in tube, and to provide a theoretical base for the projection of pipe-line engineering. 展开更多

The finite difference method (FDM) is applied in the present paper to solve the unsteady NHS equations for incompressible fluids. ADI and SLOR methods are served for the vorticity equation and the Poisson equation for ψ respectively. The upwind scheme is used for the convective terms. The moving boundary conditions are specially treated, and the effects of outlet conditions on the flow field are abo examined. Numerical results obtained show that the spoiler's oscillation induces forming, growing and shedding of the vortices. The shedding frequency of vortices is equal to that of the spoiler's oscillation. The forced unsteady separated flows under the present investigation depend mainly on the reduced frequency. At low reduced frequency, the vortices shed from the spoiler interact weakly with each other, and move downstream at an almost uniform speed of 038 V∞. At high reduced frequency, the interaction between the adjacent vortices strengthens. They close up to and rotate around each other, and eventually, merge into one vortex. 展开更多

The marine propeller typically functions within thefilowfiield generated by a water vehicle.Investigations into the geometric parameters of the propeller are commonly conducted under open‑water conditions as simultaneously simulating both vehicle and propeller holds several computational challenges. While during operation, this propellant device must face several forces like gravity, hydrodynamic load, and centrifugal force, which cause different problems like cavitation and structural failure, etc.Since these issues affect performance,it necessitates comprehensive analysis. In this study, hydrodynamic analysis is performed by using commercial software STAR CCM+.In hydrodynamic analysis, the effect of the rake angles–5°,5°,10°and 15°on hydrodynamic coeffiicients and effiiciency of the DTMB 4119 in the open water is analyzed using Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)and the control volume approach. The Shear Stress Transport(SST)k‑ωturbulence model is used in Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)simulation.Hydrodynamic analysis reveals that the rake angles 5°and 10°cause the open water effiiciency of David Taylor Model Basin(DTMB)4119 to improve by 0.4 to 1.32%with exception of the rake angles–5°and 15°,which possess different effects on effiiciency. The angle–5°causes a decrease in propeller effiiciency under heavy loading situations(low advance coeffiicient)apart from a minorfiluctuation at light loading conditions(high advance coeffiicient),while the angle 15°produces a drop in effiiciency by higher advance ratios but little variation at lower advance ratios. 展开更多

Eruptive fires are one of the main causes of human losses in forest fire fighting. The sudden change in fire behaviour due to a fire eruption is extremely dangerous for fire-fighters because it is unpredictable. Very little literature is available to support either modelling or occurrence prediction for this phenomenon. In this study, an unsteady physical model of fire spread is detailed, which describes the initiation and development of eruptive fires with an induced wind sub-model. The latter phenomenon is proposed as the mainspring of fire eruptions. Induced wind is proportional to the rate of spread and the rate of spread is in a non-linear relationship with induced wind. This feedback can converge or diverge depending on the conditions. The model allows both explaining why an eruption can occur and predicting explicitly its occurrence according to meteorological conditions, topographic parameters, fuel bed properties and fire front width. The model is tested by comparing its results to a set of experiments carried out at laboratory scale and during an outdoor wildfire, the Kornati accident. 展开更多
