The situation is worrisome in view of the noise pollution and nuisance that constitutes to the learning environment. This paper, therefore, determines the quantity of self generated energy supply, its intensity, the associated CO2 emissions and their possible implications for human capital development. A survey of generating sets was conducted using the University of Nigeria Nsukka as a representative of Nigerian universities. A walk-through-approach was adopted in gathering data and two metrics-life cycle cost and cost of electricity from auto-generation were used to determine the economic implications of the self generation. The results show that self auto-generation contributed installed energy capacity of amount 19 MVA, 20 MVA, 34 MVA, 11 MVA and 22 MVA to run human capital development activities, respectively for academic sessions from July 2006 to November 2010. The study helps us understand that reforms in educational sector are not effective as long as energy insecurity is a dominant factor.展开更多

Background:considering the significant issue of learning burnout among university students,it is essential to investigate the connection between mindfulness and learning burnout.This systematic review and metaanalysis...Background:considering the significant issue of learning burnout among university students,it is essential to investigate the connection between mindfulness and learning burnout.This systematic review and metaanalysis sought to thoroughly examine the direct and indirect relationships betweenmindfulness and learning burnout.Methods:a comprehensive literature search was conducted in Scopus,Google Scholar,and Web of Science databases until 07 July 2024.A comprehensive literature review analysis of 19 articles was included,which identified three dimensions of learning burnout:emotions,behaviors,and outcomes,determined the indirect and direct relationships between mindfulness and learning burnout,and outlined the indirect relationship between mindfulness and learning burnout.This meta-analysis incorporated data from nine studies,encompassing a total of 5227 university students experiencing learning burnout.Results:the findings revealed a significant negative correlation between mindfulness and learning burnout,with a correlation coefficient of r=-0.396,(98.6%CI[-0.521,-0.272]).Additionally,a notable negative relationship was observed between mindfulness and emotional exhaustion,characterized by a correlation coefficient of r=-0.281,(98.0%CI[-0.438,-0.123]).It also found that mindfulness indirectly influenced learning burnout by other factors(such as self-efficacy,social support,and so on).However,the empirical analysis of the indirect relationship is not supported by sufficient meta-data.Conclusion:this study indicates that there is a significant and negative direct relationship or some indirect correlation between learning burnout and mindfulness,which may affect learning burnout through internal and external factors.These results also highlight the urgent need for a more in-depth exploration of the indirect mechanisms influencing the relationship between mindfulness and learning burnout.展开更多

The 13-member multi-disciplinary MIRERC was established in April 2017 to provide effective ethical oversight of research undertaken by the University’s scholarly community. Strengths of the MUST research ethics review system include a functional MIRERC, a pertinent national law and ethical guidelines, an Innovation and Enterprise Centre that could house a dedicated MIRERC Secretariat, and a supportive University Management Board. The weaknesses include lack of graduate schools to assure scientific rigor of proposals before submission to the MIRERC, lack of research ethics training in most school’s curricula, absence of a dedicated MIRERC Secretariat, undergraduate research proposals being not ethically reviewed, dearth of faculty trained in research ethics, and lack of an operating budget for MIRERC work. The opportunities include existence of about 22 accredited Institutional Research Ethics Review Committees (IRERC) in Kenya, existence of international standards and operational guidance for ethics review, availability of guidelines and codes of best ethical practices in research, existence of a free automated platform called Research for Health Innovation Organizer (RHInnO) Ethics for managing the ethics review process, and availability of external resources for strengthening IRERCs. The system sets single-chip Ameg16 as control center, realizes communication between nodes via nRF24L01 wireless transceiver module, and realizes communication between sink and upper computer via w5100 wireless internet module. It perceives illumination intensity via photoconductor, detects the human body position via infrared pyroelectric sensor, and places the sensor node on the lamp, so the light can be controlled according to position of human body and current illumination intensity, which can realize energy saving to a large extent on condition that lighting requirement is satisfied. The system has low cost, and there is no need to change the original lighting circuit. The light can be turned off by hand, and when multi-media are used for the class, light can keep off even it is dim. The higher education is one of the sectors that try to adopt one of ICT applications through E-learning and using (Moodle) as learning management system. This paper finds out the impact of Moodle on students through examining the students’ acceptance of the system using TAM model. This study was carried out by some teaching members of the Faculty of King Abdullah II School for Information Technology at the University of Jordan during the spring semester of the academic year 2013/2014. The results of this study firm the original TAM’s findings and reveal that the faculties of students and number of previously E-learning courses have an influence on perceive ease of use and perceived usefulness while the level of the academic year and GPA have no significant influence on perceived ease of use. Even though, they have affected on perceived usefulness. Finally, the student’s skills on computer with student’s difficulty in reading from the screen affect perceived ease of use but, it has been found that they have no influence on perceived usefulness.展开更多

文摘Despite of the advantages of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) which makes our lives easier, faster, and more connected, the development of ICT is pushing the countries in the direction of ICT applications. The higher education is one of the sectors that try to adopt one of ICT applications through E-learning and using (Moodle) as learning management system. This paper finds out the impact of Moodle on students through examining the students’ acceptance of the system using TAM model. This study was carried out by some teaching members of the Faculty of King Abdullah II School for Information Technology at the University of Jordan during the spring semester of the academic year 2013/2014. The results of this study firm the original TAM’s findings and reveal that the faculties of students and number of previously E-learning courses have an influence on perceive ease of use and perceived usefulness while the level of the academic year and GPA have no significant influence on perceived ease of use. Even though, they have affected on perceived usefulness. Finally, the student’s skills on computer with student’s difficulty in reading from the screen affect perceived ease of use but, it has been found that they have no influence on perceived usefulness.
文摘Scientific research aims to understand the reality that surrounds us.It is defined by Benoit Gauthier as:“an activity of objective quest for knowledge on factual questions”.By virtue of its goal of objectively advancing knowledge in a particular field,it requires rigor,precision and method.As heuristic practice is not a natural exercise,the skills required in the development of scientific work need to be taught to students who are often helpless in face of these requirements.It is therefore important for the faculty to support and,even more so,to train students in research.The Faculty of French and Francophone Studies at Beijing Foreign Studies University(BFSU)propose an Academic Writing course accessible to students of the fourth year of the bachelor program.This article first offers a description of the course in its components,both theoretical and practical.Then,it analyses the weaknesses observed by the professor during his teaching and some reflections are proposed in order to try to develop a more systemic approach to research at university aimed at allowing a greater empowerment of the students coupled with more comprehensive training.
文摘This paper uses the J2EE framework, and proposed the development methods of the fixed assets management system in the Spring platform and the Struts. At the same time, the paper elaborates on the fixed assets management system under the framework of Spring and Struts technology, and lists some core code and part function description. Through the operation of the system many times, proved that the technology can improve the safety and stability of the system, both the Spring and the Struts framework also made redundant code of the system to reduce, avoid the waste of resources, which make the system have better scalability and maintainability.

In this paper, the researcher carries out an investigation to, on the one hand, analyze the university＇ s advanced achievements in majors settings, course structure, and mode of instruction from the aspects of bachelor, master, doctor, and on the other hand to make a prospect of the future development of the curriculum for higher tourism education in China, by using the method of the literature analysis and interview with the College of Hotel Administration at Cornell University as an example case.

文摘The performance-based pay system of M university has been implemented for many years. During the operation process. there are many problems. For example, the performance standards are not timely adjusted, and there are the repeated rewards for a few elites, and the evaluation is a mere formality. Starting from the elements of motivating the knowledge-oriented workers, this paper probes into the reasons affecting the implementation of the performance-based pay system, and puts forward some suggestions for the implementation of the performance-based pay system in M University.
