Sites and landscapes of international geological significance are managed with a comprehensive approach of conservation,education,and sustainable development in UNESCO Global Geoparks,which comprise a single,cohesive ...Sites and landscapes of international geological significance are managed with a comprehensive approach of conservation,education,and sustainable development in UNESCO Global Geoparks,which comprise a single,cohesive geographic area.A growing number of people are adopting the bottom-up strategy,which involves local communities and combines sustainable development with conservation.The viability of creating a UNESCO-recognized geopark in Kutch is assessed in this study.This study examines the key geoheritage features of the Kutch region,explores the socio-economic prospects of a geopark through geotourism and community development,and evaluates its conformity with UNESCO’s Global Geopark criteria on conservation,education,and sustainability.The study also evaluates the overall feasibility of the project,its economic,social,and environmental implications,and the adequacy of the requisite infrastructure..Its geological,cultural,and historical significance,as well as socioeconomic and environmental factors,are the parameters considered for investigation.Despite multiple applications to UNESCO,the Gujarat region of Kutch,which is rich in geological,cultural,and historical elements,is not recognised as a World Heritage Site.In actuality,there are 195 geoparks in 48 nations worldwide as of 2023,however India does not have one.The findings of the study provide critical insights that can direct initiatives to establish India’s first geopark and promote regional sustainability.展开更多

This study aims to investigate the current status of AI competencies among Chinese high school students using quantitative research methods.By integrating UNESCO’s AI Competency Framework for Students with China’s e...This study aims to investigate the current status of AI competencies among Chinese high school students using quantitative research methods.By integrating UNESCO’s AI Competency Framework for Students with China’s educational practices,a questionnaire was developed.Altogether,300 students from eight high schools joined the research.SPSS 26.0 was used for reliability and validity tests,exploratory factor analysis,and group difference analysis.The results show that the questionnaire has good reliability and validity(Cronbach’sα=0.974,KMO=0.912,Bartlett’s test of sphericity was significant with p<0.001,cumulative variance explained 72.0%).Besides,Chinese high school students’AI competencies exhibit a typical pattern of“strong in technology,weak in ethics,and insufficient in creativity”,with technical application ability(mean=3.7)significantly higher than ethical assessment(mean=3.0)and system design(mean=2.8).What’s more,students in the eastern region have significantly better overall competencies than those in the central and western regions(p<0.05),with the largest gap in the technical application dimension(mean difference=0.7)and the smallest gap in the ethical dimension(mean difference=0.3).The study recommends optimizing high school curricula by adding modules for ethical debates and interdisciplinary projects and promoting equitable distribution of educational resources.This research empirically supports global AI education standardization and offers a scientific basis for AI education policies and curriculum design in China’s high schools.展开更多

In the last two decades,seismic resilience(SR)has been developed as a main concept for the assessment of the structural vulnerabilities of buildings and city centres.In particular,historical centers consist of adjacen...In the last two decades,seismic resilience(SR)has been developed as a main concept for the assessment of the structural vulnerabilities of buildings and city centres.In particular,historical centers consist of adjacent buildings organized in blocks with common characteristics and similar typologies.The paper proposes a meth-odology to quantify SR for urban regions,by overcoming the state of the art studies that focus on assessing the SR for singular buildings.In this regard,the presented methodology may calculate the SR of blocks of buildings for the assessment of recovery investments of historical city centers.The main idea is to assess the level of vulnerability by accurate 3D surveys and visual inspections in order to select empirical fragility curves.The proposed methodology was herein applied to the city center of San Marino,designated by UNESCO as a world heritage site.展开更多
