The results show that when the drag force between twophasesdepends linearly on their relative velocity, the relative velocity profile in the pipeline coincides with Darcy's law except for the thin layer region near the pipeline wall, and that the theoretical assumptions in the dense two-phase flow theory mentioned are reasonable.展开更多

The analysis investigates their relation to positive stability, as well as their potential in predicting links in future versions of the co-authorship network. Several hypotheses are tested.Findings: Among other results, we find that weighted networks do not automatically lead to better predictions. Bipartite networks, however, outperform unweighted networks in almost all cases. Research limitations: Only two relatively small case studies are considered Practical implications: The study suggests that future link prediction studies on networks should consider using the bipartite network as a training network. Objective: This study aims to investigate the drainage effect and clinical outcomes of negative pressure chest drainage in patients after two-port thoracoscopic valve surgery, comparing the differences in postoperativ...Objective: This study aims to investigate the drainage effect and clinical outcomes of negative pressure chest drainage in patients after two-port thoracoscopic valve surgery, comparing the differences in postoperative pain, hospital stay, and other factors between the negative pressure group and the control group. Methods: This study is a prospective controlled trial that selected patients undergoing two-port thoracoscopic valve surgery at a certain hospital from January 2019 to December 2024. Patients were randomly assigned to the control group and the negative pressure group using a random number table method. The control group consisted of 30 patients (20 males, 10 females, mean age 42.03 ± 12.89 years), and the negative pressure group consisted of 35 patients (26 males, 9 females, mean age 41.84 ± 11.83 years). The control group received traditional chest drainage, while the negative pressure group received negative pressure chest drainage. Postoperative pain scores, hospital stay, drainage time, number of tube blockages, and incidences of pneumothorax or subcutaneous emphysema were recorded and statistically analyzed. Results: The negative pressure group had a significantly shorter postoperative drainage time compared to the control group (49.09 ± 11.99 hours vs. 79.10 ± 7.32 hours, P < 0.001). The postoperative pain score was lower in the negative pressure group (4.49 ± 1.27 vs. 7.03 ± 0.85, P < 0.001), and the hospital stay was significantly shorter (9.83 ± 1.69 days vs. 14.73 ± 2.32 days, P < 0.001). The incidence of pneumothorax or subcutaneous emphysema was significantly lower in the negative pressure group than in the control group (14.29% vs. 56.67%, P = 0.0003). Conclusion: The application of negative pressure chest drainage in patients after two-port thoracoscopic valve surgery can effectively reduce postoperative pain, shorten hospital stay, and lower the incidence of tube blockage and pneumothorax, demonstrating good clinical outcomes.展开更多
Background: Turner syndrome (TS) affects approximately one in 2500 live births in females. Scoliosis is one of the skeletal manifestations of TS, but most cases only require observation or conservative treatment. We e...Background: Turner syndrome (TS) affects approximately one in 2500 live births in females. Scoliosis is one of the skeletal manifestations of TS, but most cases only require observation or conservative treatment. We experienced two adolescent TS cases in which progression of scoliosis required surgical intervention, which is very rare in TS. Case Presentation: Case 1: An 11-year-old female with TS had a single thoracic curve that rapidly progressed to a triple major curve with a 76˚ main thoracic curve at age 13.5 years. Case 2: A 14-year-old female with TS had a 59˚ single thoracic curve. In both cases, growth hormone and estrogen replacement therapy were administered preoperatively and planned postoperatively. Posterior correction and instrumented fusion using simultaneous translation on two rods technique and direct vertebral rotation with the use of multiple rod introducers were successfully performed in both cases. No crankshaft phenomenon or distal adding on were observed during those postoperative courses. Conclusions: Although curve pattern of the deformity is similar to adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), bone quality in patient with TS is lower. In the context of surgical interventions for scoliosis associated with TS, it is imperative to employ surgical techniques that take into account the suboptimal bone quality. If continuation of hormone replacement therapy is planned after corrective surgery for scoliosis in TS patients, it is essential to follow the patient closely postoperatively until bone maturation is complete.展开更多

Understanding the mechanisms underlying cell-surface interaction is of fundamental importance for the rational design of scaffolds aiming at tissue engineering,tissue repair and neural regeneration applications.Here,w...Understanding the mechanisms underlying cell-surface interaction is of fundamental importance for the rational design of scaffolds aiming at tissue engineering,tissue repair and neural regeneration applications.Here,we examined patterns of neuroblastoma cells cultured in three-dimensional polymeric scaffolds obtained by two-photon lithography.Because of the intrinsic resolution of the technique,the micrometric cylinders composing the scaffold have a lateral step size of^200 nm,a surface roughness of around 20 nm,and large values of fractal dimension approaching 2.7.We found that cells in the scaffold assemble into separate groups with many elements per group.After cell wiring,we found that resulting networks exhibit high clustering,small path lengths,and small-world characteristics.These values of the topological characteristics of the network can potentially enhance the quality,quantity and density of information transported in the network compared to equivalent random graphs of the same size.This is one of the first direct observations of cells developing into 3D small-world networks in an artificial matrix.展开更多

Literature evidences many attempts of employing the FLI for controlling two general purpose/special motors, where variety of modulation techniques has been practiced for performance enhancement. Also in these cases one leg of inverter is common to both the motors. The expanded two arm modulation (ETAM) has been generally engaged in FLI. In ETAM the percentage voltage utilization factor (VUF) is calculated based on “α<sub>max</sub>”, where “α<sub>max</sub>” is the maximum modulation index and equal to and hence it restricts the VUF to 50%. This makes the FLI drives to use the dc link in inefficient way, which is due to the fact that conventional ETAM works with voltage reference. This paper modifies the ETAM in an ingenious way to improve the VUF further through current reference. In addition, the developed current reference expanded two arm modulation (CRETAM) minimizes the current harmonics and torque ripple as well. A detailed comparison of the CRETAM with the conventional ETAM and the competent digital counterpart, space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM), is also presented. The enhancement in VUF, torque ripple minimization and current total harmonic distortion (THD) reduction are found in the MATLAB based simulation results.展开更多

We consider the highway to be consisting of two lanes with vehicles moving in both directions on these lanes and focus on the probability of being able to convey messages from a source vehicle to a destination vehicle, which may be multiple hops away. Closed form analytical expression is obtained for the network connectivity probability in the presence of Nakagami fading channel. In our model, the transmission range of each vehicle is modeled as a random variable due to channel fading. The analytical results are validated by extensive simulations.展开更多
Instead of the capillary plasma generator(CPG),a discharge rod plasma generator(DRPG)is used in the30 mm electrothermal-chemical(ETC)gun to improve the ignition uniformity of the solid propellant.An axisymmetric two-d...Instead of the capillary plasma generator(CPG),a discharge rod plasma generator(DRPG)is used in the30 mm electrothermal-chemical(ETC)gun to improve the ignition uniformity of the solid propellant.An axisymmetric two-dimensional interior ballistics model of the solid propellant ETC gun(2D-IB-SPETCG)is presented to describe the process of the ETC launch.Both calculated pressure and projectile muzzle velocity accord well with the experimental results.The feasibility of the 2D-IB-SPETCG model is proved.Depending on the experimental data and initial parameters,detailed distribution of the ballistics parameters can be simulated.With the distribution of pressure and temperature of the gas phase and the propellant,the influence of plasma during the ignition process can be analyzed.Because of the radial flowing plasma,the propellant in the area of the DRPG is ignited within 0.01 ms,while all propellant in the chamber is ignited within 0.09 ms.The radial ignition delay time is much less than the axial delay time.During the ignition process,the radial pressure difference is less than 5 MPa at the place 0.025 m away from the breech.The radial ignition uniformity is proved.The temperature of the gas increases from several thousand K(conventional ignition)to several ten thousand K(plasma ignition).Compare the distribution of the density and temperature of the gas,we know that low density and high temperature gas appears near the exits of the DRPG,while high density and low temperature gas appears at the wall near the breech.The simulation of the 2D-IB-SPETCG model is an effective way to investigate the interior ballistics process of the ETC launch.The 2D-IB-SPETC model can be used for prediction and improvement of experiments.展开更多
The improvement of mechanical properties must be achieved by designing and constructing more suitable microstructure,such as hierarchical microstructure.In order to significantly enhance the creep resistance of titani...The improvement of mechanical properties must be achieved by designing and constructing more suitable microstructure,such as hierarchical microstructure.In order to significantly enhance the creep resistance of titanium matrix composites(TMCs),two-scale network microstructure was constructed including the first-scale network(<150μm)with micro-TiB whisker(TiBw)reinforcement and the second-scale network(<30μm)with nano-Ti5Si3 reinforcement by powder metallurgy and in-situ synthesis.The results showed that the creep rate of the composite was remarkably reduced by an order of magnitude compared with the Ti6Al4V alloy at 550℃,600℃,650℃ under the stresses between 100 MPa and 350 MPa.Moreover,the rupture time of the composite was increased by 20 times,compared with that of the Ti6Al4 Valloy at 550℃/300 MPa.The superior creep resistance could be attributed to the hierarchical microstructure.The micro-TiBw reinforcement in the first-scale network boundary contributed to creep resistance primarily by blocking grain boundary sliding,while the nano-Ti5Si3 particle in the second-scale network boundary mainly by hindering phase boundary sliding.In addition,the nano-Ti5Si3 particle was dissolved,and precipitated with smaller size than the primary Ti5Si3.This phenomenon was attributed to Si element diffusion under high temperature and external stress,which could further continuously enhance the creep resistance.Finally,the creep rate during steady-state stage was significantly decreased,which manifested superior creep resistance of the composite.展开更多

Designing a two-wheeled robot with five degrees of freedom creates a high challenge for the control, therefore the modelling and design of such robot should be precise with a uniform distribution of mass over the robot and the actuators. By employing the Lagrangian modelling approach, the TWRM′s mathematical model is derived and simulated in Matlab/Simulink?. For stabilizing the system′s highly nonlinear model, two control approaches were developed and implemented: proportional-integral-derivative (PID) and fuzzy logic control (FLC) strategies. Considering multiple scenarios with different initial conditions, the proposed control strategies′ performance has been assessed.展开更多
On the basis of the hydrographic data obtained from June 17 to 25, 1999 on board R/V Eardo , Korea (hereafter'the second cruise'), the circulation in the southern Huanghai Sea and East China Sea is computed b...On the basis of the hydrographic data obtained from June 17 to 25, 1999 on board R/V Eardo , Korea (hereafter'the second cruise'), the circulation in the southern Huanghai Sea and East China Sea is computed by using the modified inverse method. The comparison between the two computed results in the first cruise, which was carried out from June 4 to 19, 1999 on board R/V Xiangyanghong 14, China, and in the second cruise is made. The following results have been obtained. (1) Part of the Kuroshio flows northward through the eastern part of Section E, and its volume transport(VT) is about 6.2×106 m3/s,and its maximum velocity is about 93 cm/s.This shows that most of the Kuroshio flows northward through the region east of Section E.The VT of the offshore branch of Taiwan Warm Current west of the Kuroshio through Section E is about 0.4×106 m3/s. (2) There is the following variability between these two cruises, whose time difference is about two weeks:① The position of the Kuroshio in the second cruise is slightly more east than that in the first cruise; ②The high-density water (HDW) with a cold water occurs in the region south of Cheju Island between 125°30' and 127°E at Sections D and C. The circulation in the region of HDW is cyclonic. Comparing the position of HDW during the second cruise with that during the first cruise,it is found that its position in the second cruise moves slightly northward.(3) The cold and uniform mixing layer occurs in the layer from the 30 m level to the bottom of the middle part of Section A and in the layer from the 20 m level to the bottom of the middle part of Section B,respectively.They are both the southern part of the Huanghai Sea Cold Water Mass (HSCWM). (4) There are higher temperature and lower density with a weaker anticyclonic circulation in the southwestern part of the computed region.Its center is located at the westernmost point of Section E.展开更多

Then, two theorems are given for constructing biorthogonal (orthogonal) two-direction refinable functions in L^2(R^s) and their biorthogonal (orthogonal) two-direction wavelets, respectively. From the constructed biorthogonal (orthogonal) two-direction wavelets, symmetric biorthogonal (orthogonal) multiwaveles in L^2(R^s) can be obtained easily. Applying the projection method to biorthogonal (orthogonal) two-direction wavelets in L^2(R^s), we can get dual (tight) two-direction wavelet frames in L^2(R^m), where m ≤ s. From the projected dual (tight) two-direction wavelet frames in L^2(R^m), symmetric dual (tight) frames in L^2(R^m) can be obtained easily. A stability analysis of the proposed model provides the conditions that ensure its linear stability. Issues related to lane changing, shock waves and rarefaction waves, local clustering and phase transition are also investigated with numerical experiments. The simulation results show that the proposed model is capable of providing explanations to some particular traffic phenomena commonly observable in real traffic flows.展开更多

This makes the FLI drives to use the dc link in inefficient way, which is due to the fact that conventional ETAM works with voltage reference. This paper modifies the ETAM in an ingenious way to improve the VUF further through current reference. In addition, the developed current reference expanded two arm modulation (CRETAM) minimizes the current harmonics and torque ripple as well. A detailed comparison of the CRETAM with the conventional ETAM and the competent digital counterpart, space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM), is also presented. The enhancement in VUF, torque ripple minimization and current total harmonic distortion (THD) reduction are found in the MATLAB based simulation results.

文摘This paper discusses the two-dimensional discrete monatomic Fermi- Pasta-Ulam lattice, by using the method of multiple-scale and the quasi-discreteness approach. By taking into account the interaction between the atoms in the lattice and their nearest neighbours, it obtains some classes of two-dimensional local models as follows: two-dimensional bright and dark discrete soliton trains, two-dimensional bright and dark line discrete breathers, and two-dimensional bright and dark discrete breather.
文摘In this paper, we present an analytical model to determine the network connectivity probability of a linear vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) formed by communication equipped vehicles on a two-way street scenario. We consider the highway to be consisting of two lanes with vehicles moving in both directions on these lanes and focus on the probability of being able to convey messages from a source vehicle to a destination vehicle, which may be multiple hops away. Closed form analytical expression is obtained for the network connectivity probability in the presence of Nakagami fading channel. In our model, the transmission range of each vehicle is modeled as a random variable due to channel fading. The analytical results are validated by extensive simulations.
文摘Instead of the capillary plasma generator(CPG),a discharge rod plasma generator(DRPG)is used in the30 mm electrothermal-chemical(ETC)gun to improve the ignition uniformity of the solid propellant.An axisymmetric two-dimensional interior ballistics model of the solid propellant ETC gun(2D-IB-SPETCG)is presented to describe the process of the ETC launch.Both calculated pressure and projectile muzzle velocity accord well with the experimental results.The feasibility of the 2D-IB-SPETCG model is proved.Depending on the experimental data and initial parameters,detailed distribution of the ballistics parameters can be simulated.With the distribution of pressure and temperature of the gas phase and the propellant,the influence of plasma during the ignition process can be analyzed.Because of the radial flowing plasma,the propellant in the area of the DRPG is ignited within 0.01 ms,while all propellant in the chamber is ignited within 0.09 ms.The radial ignition delay time is much less than the axial delay time.During the ignition process,the radial pressure difference is less than 5 MPa at the place 0.025 m away from the breech.The radial ignition uniformity is proved.The temperature of the gas increases from several thousand K(conventional ignition)to several ten thousand K(plasma ignition).Compare the distribution of the density and temperature of the gas,we know that low density and high temperature gas appears near the exits of the DRPG,while high density and low temperature gas appears at the wall near the breech.The simulation of the 2D-IB-SPETCG model is an effective way to investigate the interior ballistics process of the ETC launch.The 2D-IB-SPETC model can be used for prediction and improvement of experiments.

文摘The improvement of mechanical properties must be achieved by designing and constructing more suitable microstructure,such as hierarchical microstructure.In order to significantly enhance the creep resistance of titanium matrix composites(TMCs),two-scale network microstructure was constructed including the first-scale network(<150μm)with micro-TiB whisker(TiBw)reinforcement and the second-scale network(<30μm)with nano-Ti5Si3 reinforcement by powder metallurgy and in-situ synthesis.The results showed that the creep rate of the composite was remarkably reduced by an order of magnitude compared with the Ti6Al4V alloy at 550℃,600℃,650℃ under the stresses between 100 MPa and 350 MPa.Moreover,the rupture time of the composite was increased by 20 times,compared with that of the Ti6Al4 Valloy at 550℃/300 MPa.The superior creep resistance could be attributed to the hierarchical microstructure.The micro-TiBw reinforcement in the first-scale network boundary contributed to creep resistance primarily by blocking grain boundary sliding,while the nano-Ti5Si3 particle in the second-scale network boundary mainly by hindering phase boundary sliding.In addition,the nano-Ti5Si3 particle was dissolved,and precipitated with smaller size than the primary Ti5Si3.This phenomenon was attributed to Si element diffusion under high temperature and external stress,which could further continuously enhance the creep resistance.Finally,the creep rate during steady-state stage was significantly decreased,which manifested superior creep resistance of the composite.
文摘This paper presents a novel five degrees of freedom (DOF) two-wheeled robotic machine (TWRM) that delivers solutions for both industrial and service robotic applications by enlarging the vehicle′s workspace and increasing its flexibility. Designing a two-wheeled robot with five degrees of freedom creates a high challenge for the control, therefore the modelling and design of such robot should be precise with a uniform distribution of mass over the robot and the actuators. By employing the Lagrangian modelling approach, the TWRM′s mathematical model is derived and simulated in Matlab/Simulink?. For stabilizing the system′s highly nonlinear model, two control approaches were developed and implemented: proportional-integral-derivative (PID) and fuzzy logic control (FLC) strategies. Considering multiple scenarios with different initial conditions, the proposed control strategies′ performance has been assessed.

文摘On the basis of the hydrographic data obtained from June 17 to 25, 1999 on board R/V Eardo , Korea (hereafter'the second cruise'), the circulation in the southern Huanghai Sea and East China Sea is computed by using the modified inverse method. The comparison between the two computed results in the first cruise, which was carried out from June 4 to 19, 1999 on board R/V Xiangyanghong 14, China, and in the second cruise is made. The following results have been obtained. (1) Part of the Kuroshio flows northward through the eastern part of Section E, and its volume transport(VT) is about 6.2×106 m3/s,and its maximum velocity is about 93 cm/s.This shows that most of the Kuroshio flows northward through the region east of Section E.The VT of the offshore branch of Taiwan Warm Current west of the Kuroshio through Section E is about 0.4×106 m3/s. (2) There is the following variability between these two cruises, whose time difference is about two weeks:① The position of the Kuroshio in the second cruise is slightly more east than that in the first cruise; ②The high-density water (HDW) with a cold water occurs in the region south of Cheju Island between 125°30' and 127°E at Sections D and C. The circulation in the region of HDW is cyclonic. Comparing the position of HDW during the second cruise with that during the first cruise,it is found that its position in the second cruise moves slightly northward.(3) The cold and uniform mixing layer occurs in the layer from the 30 m level to the bottom of the middle part of Section A and in the layer from the 20 m level to the bottom of the middle part of Section B,respectively.They are both the southern part of the Huanghai Sea Cold Water Mass (HSCWM). (4) There are higher temperature and lower density with a weaker anticyclonic circulation in the southwestern part of the computed region.Its center is located at the westernmost point of Section E.

文摘This article aims at studying two-direction refinable functions and two-direction wavelets in the setting R^s, s 〉 1. We give a sufficient condition for a two-direction refinable function belonging to L^2(R^s). Then, two theorems are given for constructing biorthogonal (orthogonal) two-direction refinable functions in L^2(R^s) and their biorthogonal (orthogonal) two-direction wavelets, respectively. From the constructed biorthogonal (orthogonal) two-direction wavelets, symmetric biorthogonal (orthogonal) multiwaveles in L^2(R^s) can be obtained easily. Applying the projection method to biorthogonal (orthogonal) two-direction wavelets in L^2(R^s), we can get dual (tight) two-direction wavelet frames in L^2(R^m), where m ≤ s. From the projected dual (tight) two-direction wavelet frames in L^2(R^m), symmetric dual (tight) frames in L^2(R^m) can be obtained easily. In the end, an example is given to illustrate theoretical results.

文摘A new higher-order continuum model is proposed by considering the coupling and lane changing effects of the vehicles on two adjacent lanes. A stability analysis of the proposed model provides the conditions that ensure its linear stability. Issues related to lane changing, shock waves and rarefaction waves, local clustering and phase transition are also investigated with numerical experiments. The simulation results show that the proposed model is capable of providing explanations to some particular traffic phenomena commonly observable in real traffic flows.
