In the process of numerical control machining simulation,the workpiece surface is usually described with the uniform triangular mesh model.To alleviate the contradiction between the simulation speed and accuracy in this model,two improved methods,i.e.,the local refinement triangular mesh modeling method and the adaptive triangular mesh modeling method were presented.The simulation results show that when the final shape of the workpiece is known and its mathematic representation is simple,the local refinement triangular mesh modeling method is preferred;when the final shape of the workpiece is unknown and its mathematic description is complicated,the adaptive triangular mesh modeling method is more suitable.The experimental results show that both methods are more targeted and practical and can meet the requirements of real-time and precision in simulation. 展开更多

The infiltration process is a critical link between surface water and groundwater. In this research, a specific device to observe infiltration processes in homogeneous and heterogeneous soils with triangular and inverted triangular profiles was designed, and the Green-Ampt model was employed for the process simulation. The results indicate that(1) the wetting front in coarse texture soils transports faster than in fine texture soils;(2) for the homogeneous case, the wetting front in triangularshaped soils transports faster than the inverted triangular type, but the triangular-shaped soils show a lower infiltration rate;(3) in the initial step, the wetting front in triangular-shaped soils shows higher transport speed, but depicts lower speed with increase in the time;(4) both the wetting front and infiltration rate show a significant exponential relation with the time. From these findings, an empirical model was developed which agrees well with the observed data and provides a useful method for this field of soil research. 展开更多

Sustainability,beauty,and power are notions that hit our contemporary perception every day.However,they have been an integral part of architecture and urban planning in various forms since the ages.The paper presents ... Sustainability,beauty,and power are notions that hit our contemporary perception every day.However,they have been an integral part of architecture and urban planning in various forms since the ages.The paper presents their fundamental descriptions,followed by an assessment of their mutual relations and impact on architecture through a triangular architectural relation model developed by the authors of the article.Using the theoretical thought experiment,it highlights eight boundary models along with their main characteristics,in particular,the implosion,explosion,shared-control,utilitarian,no-control,supremacy,inside-forced,and outside-forced architectural related models.Such models can help predict future events,explain past events,make decisions,and plan strategies,or reveal problems and propose new solutions.Other applications include determination of the causes of certain results or finding out the responsibility and mechanisms that led to them.The authors are of the opinion that the mutual denominator of sustainability,beauty,and power represents ethics that should be forced in architectural education and practice. 展开更多

Fast Tree Search for A Triangular Lattice Model of Protein Folding

Using a triangular lattice model to study the designability of proteinfolding, we overcame the parity problem of previous cubic lattice model and enumerated all thesequences and compact structures on a simple two-dimensional triangular lattice model of size4+5+6+5+4. We used two types of amino acids, hydrophobic and polar, to make up the sequences, andachieved 2^(23)+2^(12) different sequences excluding the reverse symmetry sequences. The totalstring number of distinct compact structures was 219,093, excluding reflection symmetry in theself-avoiding path of length 24 triangular lattice model. Based on this model, we applied a fastsearch algorithm by constructing a cluster tree. The algorithm decreased the computation bycomputing the objective energy of non-leaf nodes. The parallel experiments proved that the fast treesearch algorithm yielded an exponential speed-up in the model of size 4+5+6+5+4. Designabilityanalysis was performed to understand the search result. 展开更多
