The process of the single-wire electrical explosion is divided into four stages. Stage Ⅰ: the wire is in solid state. Stage Ⅱ: the melting stage. Stage Ⅲ: the wire melts completely and the initial plasma forms. Stage IV: the core and corona expand separately. The thermodynamic calculation is applied before the wire melts completely in stages Ⅰ and Ⅱ. In stage Ⅲ, a one-dimensional magnetohydrodynamics model comes into play until the instant when the voltage collapse occurs. The temperature, density, and velocity, which are derived from the magnetohydrodynamics calculation, are averaged over the distribution area. The averaged parameters are taken as the initial conditions for stage Ⅳ in which a simplified magnetohydrodynamics model is applied. A wide-range semi-empirical equation of state, which is established based on the Thomas-Fermi-Kirzhnits model, is constructed to describe the phase transition from solid state to plasma state. The initial plasma formation and the phenomenon of current transfer in the electrical explosion of aluminum wire are investigated using the computational model. Experiments of electrical explosion of aluminum wires are carried out to verify this model. Simulation results are also compared with experimental results of the electrical explosion of copper wire.展开更多

As there are also graph methods of circuit analysis in addition to algebraic methods, it is clearly possible in theory to carry out an analysis of the whole switched circuit in two-phase switching exclusively by the graph method as well. For this purpose it is possible to plot a Mason graph of a circuit, use transformation graphs to reduce Mason graphs for all the four phases of switching, and then plot a summary graph from the transformed graphs obtained this way. First the author draws nodes and possible branches, obtained by transformation graphs for transfers of EE (even-even) and OO (odd-odd) phases. In the next step, branches obtained by transformation graphs for EO and OE phase are drawn between these nodes, while their resulting transfer is 1 multiplied by z^1/2. This summary graph is extended by two branches from input node and to output node, the extended graph can then be interpreted by the Mason's relation to provide transparent current transfers. Therefore it is not necessary to compose a sum admittance matrix and to express this consequently in numbers, and so it is possible to reach the final result in a graphical way.展开更多

A drain current plateau (IDs = 32.0 mA/mm) for Vcs swept from +0.7 V to -0. 6 V is present in the transfer characteristics of InGaN/AIGaN/AIN/GaN HFETs. The theoretical calculation shows the coexistence of two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) and two-dimensional hole gas (2DHG) in InGaN/AIGaN/A1N/GaN heterostructures, and the screening effect of 2DHG to the 2DEG in the conduction channel can explain this current plateau. Moreover, the current plateau shows the time-dependent behavior when IDs Vcs scans repeated are conducted. The obtained insight provides indication for the design in the fabrication of GaN-based super HFETs.展开更多

We organize our presentations following the branches of the "academic family tree" rooted on Prof. Bengt U. ? Sonnerup, the inventor of the GS method. Special attentions are paid to validations of the GS reconstruction results via(1) the direct validation by co-spatial in-situ measurements among multiple spacecraft, and(2) indirect validation by implications and interpretations of the physical connection between the structures reconstructed and other related processes. For the latter, the inter-comparison and interconnection between the large-scale magnetic flux ropes(i.e., Magnetic Clouds) in the solar wind and their solar source properties are presented. In addition, we also summarize various GS-type(or-like) reconstruction and an extension of the GS technique to toroidal geometry. In particular,we point to a possible advancement with added complexity of "helical symmetry" and mixed helicity, in the hope of stimulating interest in future development. We close by offering some thoughts on appreciating the scientific merit of GS reconstruction in general.展开更多
