Pd-capped nanocrystalline Mg films were prepared by electron beam evaporation and hydrogenated under isothermal conditions to inves-tigate the hydrogen absorption process via ion beam techniques and in situ optical methods.Films were characterized by different techniques such as X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).Rutherford backscattering spectrometry(RBS)and elastic recoil detection analysis(ERDA)provided a detailed compositional depth profile of the films during hydrogenation.Gas-solid reaction kinetics theory applied to ERDA data revealed a H absorption mechanism controlled by H diffusion.This rate-limiting step was also confirmed by XRD measurements.The diffusion coefficient(D)was also determined via RBS and ERDA,with a value of(1.1±0.1)·10^(−13)cm^(2)/s at 140℃.Results confirm the validity of IBA to monitor the hydrogenation process and to extract the control mechanism of the process.The H kinetic information given by optical methods is strongly influenced by the optical absorption of the magnesium layer,revealing that thinner films are needed to extract further and reliable information from that technique. 展开更多

To meet the requirements of electromagnetic(EM)theory and applied physics,this study presents an overview of the state-of-the-art research on obtaining the EM properties of media and points out potential solutions that can break through the bottlenecks of current methods.Firstly,based on the survey of three mainstream approaches for acquiring EM properties of media,we identify the difficulties when implementing them in realistic environments.With a focus on addressing these problems and challenges,we propose a novel paradigm for obtaining the EM properties of multi-type media in realistic environments.Particularly,within this paradigm,we describe the implementation approach of the key technology,namely“multipath extraction using heterogeneous wave propagation data in multi-spectrum cases”.Finally,the latest measurement and simulation results show that the EM properties of multi-type media in realistic environments can be precisely and efficiently acquired by the methodology proposed in this study. 展开更多

Quantitative detection of trace small-sized nanoplastics(<100 nm)remains a significant challenge in surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS).To tackle this issue,we developed a hydrophobic CuO@Ag nanowire substrate and introduced a multiplex-feature analysis strategy based on the coffee ring effect.This substrate not only offers high Raman enhancement but also exhibits a high probability of detection(POD),enabling rapid and accurate identification of 50 nm polystyrene nanoplastics over a broad concentration range(1–10−10 wt%).Importantly,experimental results reveal a strong correlation between the coffee ring formation and the concentration of nanoplastic dispersion.By incorporating Raman signal intensity,coffee ring diameter,and POD as combined features,we established a machine learning-based mapping between nanoplastic concentration and coffee ring characteristics,allowing precise predictions of dispersion concentration.The mean squared error of these predictions is remarkably low,ranging from 0.21 to 0.54,representing a 19 fold improvement in accuracy compared to traditional linear regression-based methods.This strategy effectively integrates SERS with wettability modification techniques,ensuring high sensitivity and fingerprinting capabilities,while addressing the limitations of Raman signal intensity in accurately reflecting concentration changes at ultra-low levels,providing a new idea for precise SERS measurements of nanoplastics. 展开更多

MixerKT:A Knowledge Tracing Model Based on Pure MLP Architecture

In the field of intelligent education,the integration of artificial intelligence,especially deep learning technologies,has garnered significant attention.Knowledge tracing(KT)plays a pivotal role in this field by predicting students’future performance through the analysis of historical interaction data,thereby assisting educators in evaluating knowledgemastery and tailoring instructional strategies.Traditional knowledge tracingmethods,largely based on Recurrent Neural Networks(RNNs)and Transformer models,primarily focus on capturing long-term interaction patterns in sequential data.However,these models may neglect crucial short-term dynamics and other relevant features.This paper introduces a novel approach to knowledge tracing by leveraging a pure Multilayer Perceptron(MLP)architecture.We proposeMixerKT,a knowledge tracing model based on theHyperMixer framework,which uniquely integrates global and localMixer feature extractors.This architecture enables more effective extraction of both long-terminteraction trends and recent learning behaviors,addressing limitations in currentmodels thatmay overlook these key aspects.Empirical evaluations on twowidely-used datasets,ASSIS Tments2009 and Algebra2005,demonstrate that MixerKT consistently outperforms several state-of-the-art models,including DKT,SAKT,and Separated Self-Attentive Neural Knowledge Tracing(SAINT).Specifically,MixerKT achieves higher prediction accuracy,highlighting its effectiveness in capturing the nuances of learners’knowledge states.These results indicate that our model provides a more comprehensive representation of student learning patterns,enhancing the ability to predict future performance with greater precision. 展开更多

Formic and acetic acids are the most abundant gaseous organic acids and play the key role in the atmospheric chemistry.In iodine-adduct chemical ionizationmass spectrometry(CIMS),the low utilization efficiency of methyl iodide and humidity interference are two major issues of the vacuum ultraviolet(VUV)lamp initiated CIMS for on-line gaseous formic and acetic acids analysis.In this work,we present a new CIMS based on VUV lamp,and the ion-molecular reactor is separated into photoionization and chemical ionization zones by a reducer electrode.Acetone was added to the photoionization zone,and the VUV photoionization acetone provided low-energy electrons for methyl iodide to generate I−,and the addition of acetone reduced the amount of methyl iodide by 2/3.In the chemical ionization zone,a headspace vial containing ultrapure water was added for humidity calibration,and the vial changes the sensitivity as a function of humidity from ambiguity to well linear correlation(R2>0.95).With humidity calibration,the CIMS can quantitatively measure formic and acetic acids in the humidity range of 0%-88%RH.In this mode,limits of detection of 10 and 50 pptv are obtained for formic and acetic acids,respectively.And the relative standard deviation(RSD)of quantitation stability for 6 days were less than 10.5%.This CIMS was successfully used to determine the formic and acetic acids in the underground parking and ambient environment of the Shandong University campus(Qingdao,China).In addition,we developed a simple model based formic acid concentration to assess vehicular emissions. 展开更多

The technology for green and macro-conversion of solid waste biomass to prepare high-quality activated carbon demands urgent development.This study proposes a technique for synthesizing carbon adsorbents using trace KOH-catalyzed CO_(2) activation.Comprehensive investigations were conducted on three aspects:physicochemical structure evolution of biochar,mechanistic understanding of trace KOH-facilitated CO_(2) activation processes,and application characteristics for CO_(2) adsorption.Results demonstrate that biochar activated by trace KOH(<10%)and CO_(2) achieves comparable specific surface area(1244.09 m^(2)/g)to that obtained with 100%KOH activation(1425.10 m^(2)/g).The pore structure characteristics(specific surface area and pore volume)are governed by CO and CH4 generated through K-salt catalyzed reactions between CO_(2) and biochar.The optimal CO_(2) adsorption capacities of KBC adsorbent reached 4.70 mmol/g(0℃)and 7.25 mmol/g(25℃),representing the maximum values among comparable carbon adsorbents.The 5%KBC-CO_(2) sample exhibited CO_(2) adsorption capacities of 3.19 and 5.01 mmol/g under respective conditions,attaining current average performance levels.Notably,CO_(2)/N_(2) selectivity(85∶15,volume ratio)reached 64.71 at 0.02 bar with robust cycling stability.Molecular dynamics simulations revealed that oxygen-containing functional groups accelerate CO_(2) adsorption kinetics and enhance micropore storage capacity.This technical route offers simplicity,environmental compatibility,and scalability,providing critical references for large-scale preparation of high-quality carbon materials. 展开更多

Perception-entropy-driven temporal reusing for real-time ray tracing

Although ray tracing produces high-fidelity, realistic images, it is considered computationally burdensome when implemented on a high rendering rate system. Perception-driven rendering techniques generate images with minimal noise and distortion that are generally acceptable to the human visual system, thereby reducing rendering costs. In this paper, we introduce a perception-entropy-driven temporal reusing method to accelerate real-time ray tracing. We first build a just noticeable difference(JND) model to represent the uncertainty of ray samples and image space masking effects. Then, we expand the shading gradient through gradient max-pooling and gradient filtering to enlarge the visual receipt field. Finally, we dynamically optimize reusable time segments to improve the accuracy of temporal reusing. Compared with Monte Carlo ray tracing, our algorithm enhances frames per second(fps) by 1.93× to 2.96× at 8 to 16 samples per pixel, significantly accelerating the Monte Carlo ray tracing process while maintaining visual quality. 展开更多

The opening of the Central South Atlantic and the consequent formation of the eastern Brazilian continental margin was marked by a complex history of mafic magmatism,carbonate sedimentation,and deposition of a thick salt layer.The carbonates underlying the salt layer(pre-salt carbonates)were formed in restricted lacustrine basins.Here,the timing and fluid sources of deposition,diagenetic,and hydrothermal alterations of the pre-salt carbonate rocks are defined through in-situ U-Pb dating,87Sr/86Sr,and trace element analyses of samples from the Santos Basin.The very alkaline nature of the Aptian lake(s)produced characteristically unique and widely distributed carbonate rocks such as Mg-clays with calcite spherulite and calcite crystal shrub limestones transitioning laterally and vertically into travertines formed by hydrothermal pulses during basin evolution.Hydrothermalism caused extensive replacement,dissolution,and calcite cementation.REE+Y PAAS-normalised patterns and 87Sr/86Sr ratios indicate that deposition/eo-diagenesis of the primary carbonates occurred in a lacustrine environment primarily controlled by evaporation,pH,and continental water source,with 2%–10%hydrothermal fluid input.Trace elements and Sr-isotope of travertines and burial diagenetic phases show that they are produced from a hot mixture of mafic/mantle-derived fluids and dissolution/alteration of older carbonate formations.U-Pb dating indicates that carbonate deposition occurred between 124.8±2.6 Ma and 120.0±1.6 Ma,earlier than previously proposed,followed closely by the circulation of hydrothermal fluids.Replacement and cementation ages range from 120.5±2.4 Ma to 80.4±2.4 Ma. 展开更多

Field-and petrographic investigations,together with microanalytical major-and traceelement studies,were carried out on clinopyroxene and amphibole from high-Mg diorite in the subduction-related Chelyabinsk granitic massif to understand its petrogenesis and source.The clinopyroxene composition(high Mg#,Cr-content,sum of REE and Ti/Eu ratio;depletion in HREE;negative Eu-anomaly)indicates that it formed from a reduced melt derived from a mantle source metasomatized by fluids/melts having crustal affinity.Melt compositions in equilibrium with clinopyroxene and amphibole were calculated using solid/liquid partition coefficients.The high Nb/Y and Zr/Y ratio values of a liquid simulated from clinopyroxene,which appears to have very similar characteristics to sanukitoid melts,indicate a low degree of melting of the mantle source.Melt simulated from amphibole is more evolved and more felsic(dacitic).It displays a geochemical“amphibole fractionation”signature,indicating the peritectic transformation of clinopyroxene to amphibole in the lower crust.Rock textures and major element mineral compositions suggest that further amphibole was precipitated directly from the melt in the middle crust.The results show that the Chelyabinsk highMg diorite was probably formed as a cumulate from sanukitoid-like melt during its ascent and cooling below dacitic liquidus inside the amphibole stability field. 展开更多

This work focused on determining the physico-chemical characteristics (pH, carbon and nitrogen) and trace metal elements (TMEs) content (As, Sb, Cd, Hg, Ni, Pb, Cr, Zn) of soils in the Brazzaville city. Soil samples were taken from a depth of 0 to 20 cm using a hand auger on both banks of five tributaries of the Congo River (Djoué, Mfilou, Mfoa, Tsiémé, Djiri) that flow through the city of Brazzaville. 90 sampling points were defined, with 3 points 250 m apart on the banks and located, for each river, at three sites: upstream, midstream and downstream. Finally, 15 composite samples representative of the study area were taken. The average pH values of the water varied between 6.5 and 7.5. These pH values show that the soils studied are neutral. Total carbon content varied between 0.7% (Djiri) and 1.6% (Djoué). Total nitrogen content ranged from 0.08% (Djiri) to 0.12% (Djoué). TMEs contents varied from 0.5 to 1.8 mg/kg for Sb, from 0.5 to 2.5 mg/kg for As, from 0.1 to 0.18 mg/kg for Cd, from 4.2 to 11.3 mg/kg for Cr, from 0.07 to 0.27 mg/kg for Hg, from 0.7 to 2.4 mg/kg for Ni, from 0 to 158 mg/kg for Pb and from 16 to 105 mg/kg for Zn. The lowest TMEs levels were observed in the soils of the Djiri river, while the highest levels were observed in the soils of the Djoué and Tsiémé rivers. The ANOVA and Bonferroni test did not show significant differences in the means of the parameters measured (p > 0.05). The TMEs levels were below the accepted standards (NF U44-041), with the exception of Pb, which had high levels downstream of the Djoué. According to the pollution index values calculated using soil TME content, the soils on the banks of the Djoué river are considered polluted, while those on the banks of the Tsiémé river are moderately polluted, those on the banks of the Mfoa and Mfilou rivers are slightly polluted, and the soils on the banks of Djiri river are unpolluted. 展开更多

Introduction: During pregnancy, the increased demand for all the nutrients required for the development of the foetus means that the maternal stock of trace elements and minerals may become unbalanced if dietary intake fails to compensate. The aim of this research is to determine the status of trace elements (calcium, copper, magnesium, selenium and zinc) in pregnant women in the city of Kisangani. Methods: We carried out an analytical cross-sectional study of non-pregnant and pregnant women living in Kisangani, from 05 October 2023 to 05 January 2024. Concentrations of trace elements in sera were analysed using an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrophotometer (ICP-MS Agilent 7700X). Statistical analysis of the data was performed using R software version 4.3.0. Results: The mean age was 26.3 ± 6.7 years;the mean copper and magnesium levels in the serum of pregnant women were 12.58 ± 1.13 micromol/l and 1.03 ± 1.03 mmol/l respectively. The medians for calcium and zinc were 1.49 mmol/l and 8.42 micromol/l. The selenium mode was 0.41 micromol/l. Variations in trace element levels in sera of pregnant women were 0.94 - 2.22 mmol/l for calcium;0.31 - 0.78 micromol/l for selenium;and 7.29 - 12.72 micromol/l for zinc;11.04 - 14.99 micromol/l for copper, and 0.082 - 1.05 mmol/l for magnesium. Conclusion: Serum trace element concentrations in pregnant women were lower than those observed in non-pregnant women. Trace element reserves in pregnant women depended on their nutrient status prior to pregnancy, hence, there was an urgent need for trace element balance prior to pregnancy. 展开更多

Quartz trace elements are extensively employed in studying magmatic evolution,fluid evolution,and metal enrichment.The Bianjiadayuan Ag-Pb-Zn-Sn deposit is a typical magmatichydrothermal system in northeastern China,however,studies on its complex magmatic-hydrothermal evolution are limited.This study investigates the quartz from the Bianjiadayuan deposit to gain insight into the physicochemical evolution of mineralization using cathodoluminescence(CL)textures and laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry(LA-ICP-MS)of quartz.Five types quartz(Q1 to Q5)were identified.From Q1 in quartz porphyry to Q5 in Ag-Pb-Zn veins,the CL intensity and Ti content gradually decreases,and Ge,Ge/Ti,and Al/Ti ratios increase,indicating a temperature decline from magmatic to hydrothermal stages.The Sb content shows an opposite trend to Ti content,correlating positively with Ge content in quartz,suggesting that Sb content could also be temperature-dependent.These trace elements in quartz indicate cooling is critical for Ag mineralization.Furthermore,quartz phenocryst(Q1)from the quartz porphyry shows low Al/Ti(mostly<4)and Ge/Ti ratios(<0.04),suggesting a low degree of magmatic evolution.The Sb content in Q5 from Ag-Pb-Zn-quartz veins(>1 ppm,mostly tens of ppm)is notably higher compared to quartz in other lithologies including Sn-bearing quartz veins(<1 ppm),suggesting that Sb contents can serve as an effective indicator of Ag mineralization. 展开更多

The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the critical need for rapid and accurate diagnostic tools.Current methods,including Polymerase Chain Reaction and rapid antigen tests(RAT),have limitations in speed,sensitivity,and the requirement for specialized equipment and trained personnel.Nanotechnology,particularly upconversion nanoparticles(UCNPs),offer a promising alternative due to their unique optical properties.UCNPs can convert low-energy near-infrared light into higher-energy visible light,making them ideal for use as optical probes in single molecule detection and point of care applications.This study,initiated in early 2020,explores the opportunity of using highly doped UCNPs(40%Yb^(3+)/4%Er^(3+))in lateral flow assay(LFA)for the early diagnosis of COVID-19.The UCNPsbased LFA testing demonstrated a minimum detection concentration of 100 pg/mL for SARS-CoV-2 antigen and 10^(5)CCID_(50)/mL for inactivated virus.Clinical trials,conducted in Malaysia and Western Australia independently,showed that the technique was at least 100 times more sensitive than commercial RAT kits,with a sensitivity of 100%and specificity of 91.94%.The development process involved multidisciplinary collaborations,resulting in the Virulizer device,an automated strip reader for point-of-care testing.This work sets a reference for future development of highly sensitive and quantitative RAT,aiming for the Limits of Detection in the range of sub-ng/mL. 展开更多

Anaerobic ammonium oxidation coupled to iron(III)reduction(Feammox)process has recently been recognized as an important pathway for removing ammonium in various natural habitats.However,our understanding for Feammox in river–estuary continuum is limited.In this study,stable isotope tracers and high-throughput amplicon sequencing were employed to determine Feammox rates and identify associated microbial communities in sediments along the Yangtze river–estuary continuum.Feammox rates averaged 0.0058±0.0069 mg N/(kg·d)and accounted for approximately 22.3%of the ammonium removed from the sediments.Sediment Fe(III),ammonium(NH_(4)^(+)),total organic carbon(TOC),and pH were identified as important factors influencing Feammox rates.Additionally,Spirochaeta,Caldilineaceae_uncultured,and Ignavibacterium were found potentially associated with Feammox,which had not been documented as Feammox-associated microbial taxa previously.This study demonstrates that Feammox plays a vital role in ammonium removal within the Yangtze river–estuary continuum,providing greater insight into nitrogen removal and cycling in aquatic ecosystems. 展开更多

It is of great importance to obtain precise trace data,as traces are frequently the sole visible and measurable parameter in most outcrops.The manual recognition and detection of traces on high-resolution three-dimensional(3D)models are relatively straightforward but time-consuming.One potential solution to enhance this process is to use machine learning algorithms to detect the 3D traces.In this study,a unique pixel-wise texture mapper algorithm generates a dense point cloud representation of an outcrop with the precise resolution of the original textured 3D model.A virtual digital image rendering was then employed to capture virtual images of selected regions.This technique helps to overcome limitations caused by the surface morphology of the rock mass,such as restricted access,lighting conditions,and shading effects.After AI-powered trace detection on two-dimensional(2D)images,a 3D data structuring technique was applied to the selected trace pixels.In the 3D data structuring,the trace data were structured through 2D thinning,3D reprojection,clustering,segmentation,and segment linking.Finally,the linked segments were exported as 3D polylines,with each polyline in the output corresponding to a trace.The efficacy of the proposed method was assessed using a 3D model of a real-world case study,which was used to compare the results of artificial intelligence(AI)-aided and human intelligence trace detection.Rosette diagrams,which visualize the distribution of trace orientations,confirmed the high similarity between the automatically and manually generated trace maps.In conclusion,the proposed semi-automatic method was easy to use,fast,and accurate in detecting the dominant jointing system of the rock mass. 展开更多

This study evaluates the dynamics of trace metals impacts on the ecosystems of the Bartlett Pond, a small shallow wetland pond located in Laredo, Texas by analyzing sediment samples taken from four quadrants of the pond. The concentrations of trace elements in sediment samples are highest for iron (Fe), followed by chromium (Cr), then lead (Pb), with lower concentration of antimony (Sb), cobalt (Co), arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), and the lowest concentration being thallium (Tl) within Bartlett Pond. The sediment quality of the pond is acceptable for organisms and the environment as trace element concentrations (e.g. As, Cd, Cr, and Pb) are within the probable effect concentration (PEC) of National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) guidelines although the PEC values for Co, Fe, Sb and Tl are not given. Bivariate and multivariate correlation analysis shows that most trace elements exhibit a strong positive correlation among them indicating the same anthropogenic sources and biogeochemical processes control these trace elements concentrations within the pond. We provided a comprehensive snapshot of trace element concentrations in sediments through descriptive analysis, laying the foundation for future environmental risk assessments. Correlation analysis of eight trace elements helped identify relationships, offering insights into pollution sources and potential health impacts. Additionally, univariate and multivariate predictive analyses generated numerous models, extending beyond the interpretation of partial and full regression coefficients. We also included graphical analyses of trace element variations, which are critical for understanding environmental processes and geochemical patterns. These findings advance our understanding about trace metals dynamics in sediments and may be a valuable reference for ecosystems and environmental management of different landscapes. 展开更多

Typhoons,as strong convective systems,can excite multi-scale atmospheric gravity waves that travel long distances,and play an important role in momentum and energy transmission between the middle and upper atmosphere.In this paper,the research progress in the observation techniques,generation mechanism and propagation characteristics of typhoon-induced gravity waves were systematically reviewed.These studies show that based on the combined application of ground-based and space-based observation(sounding balloons,airglow imaging,and satellite remote sensing)and reanalysis data(such as ERA5),with the aid of ray tracing theory and numerical simulation technology,the mechanism of typhoon induced gravity waves and its dynamic characteristics in the middle and upper atmosphere have been better revealed.At present,there are still some insufficiencies in the fields of propagation path tracking of gravity waves,terrain multi-scale effect modeling and parameterization of inertial gravity waves,which need to be further studied in the future. 展开更多

To explore air contamination resulting from special biomass combustion and suspended dust in Lhasa,the present study focused on the size distribution and chemical characteristics of particulate matter(PM)emission resulting from 7 types of non-fossil pollution sources.We investigated the concentration and size distribution of trace elements from 7 pollution sources collected in Lhasa.Combining Lhasa’s atmospheric particulate matter data,enrichment factors(EFs)have been calculated to examine the potential impact of those pollution sources on the atmosphere quality of Lhasa.The highest mass concentration of total elements of biomass combustion appeared at PM_(0.4),and the second highest concentration existed in the size fraction 0.4-1μm;the higher proportion(12%)of toxicmetals was produced by biomass combustion.The elemental composition of suspended dust and atmospheric particulate matter was close(except for As and Cd);the highest concentration of elements was all noted in PM_(2.5-10)(PM_(3-10)).Potassium was found to be one of the main biomass markers.The proportion of Cu in suspended dust is significantly lower than that of atmospheric particulate matter(0.53%and 3.75%),which indicates that there are other anthropogenic sources.The EFs analysis showed that the Cr,Cu,Zn,and Pb produced by biomass combustion were highly enriched(EFs>100)in all particle sizes.The EFs of most trace elements increased with decreasing particle size,indicating the greater influence of humanfactors on smaller particles. 展开更多

The concentrations of V,Cr,Mn,Fe,Co,Ni,Cu,Zn,As,Mo,Cd,and Pb were determined in Doulonggang River,Xinyanggang River,Huangshagang River,Sheyanghe River,Guangaizongqu River,and Linhonghe River at the North of Jiangsu Province in 2019.The annual average concentrations of V,Cr,Mn,Fe,Co,Ni,Cu,Zn,As,Mo,Cd and Pb in the six rivers were 2.20,1.22,4.53,21.9,0.13,2.79,1.77,4.00,2.97,3.87,0.01,0.19μg L^(-1)respectively.The highest concentration of most trace metals were found in Guangaizongqu River and Linhonghe River,and the lowest concentration were found in Xinyanggang River and Huangshagang River.The principal component analysis(PCA)resulted of two factors together explained 91.2%of the variance with>1initial eigenvalue,indicating that both natural and anthropogenic activities were contributing factors as the source of metal abundance in rivers of northern Jiangsu Province.The first major component represented the influence of anthropogenic activities,including industry and agriculture,with a contribution rate of 54.1%,affected Cr,Fe,Cu,Zn,Mo,Cd and Pb.The second(such as V,Mn,Co,Ni,As)was a mixed source,including the natural processes such as precipitation,erosion and weathering and anthropogenic action like industry and agriculture,with a contribution rate of 37.1%.Seasonal variations in trace metal concentrations were influenced by temperature,salinity,water discharge,and input of external pollutants.The highest concentrations were found in wet season and were strongly influenced by rainfall and seasonal industrial and agricultural activities. 展开更多

Learning-associated functional plasticity at hippocampal synapses remains largely unexplored. Here, in a single session of reward-based trace conditioning, we examine learning-induced synaptic plasticity in the dorsal CA1 hippocampus (dCA1). Local field-potential recording combined with selective optogenetic inhibition first revealed an increase of dCA1 synaptic responses to the conditioned stimulus (CS) induced during conditioning at both Schaffer collaterals to the stratum radiatum (Rad) and temporoammonic input to the lacunosum moleculare (LMol). At these dCA1 inputs, synaptic potentiation of CS-responding excitatory synapses was further demonstrated by locally blocking NMDA receptors during conditioning and whole-cell recording sensory-evoked synaptic responses in dCA1 neurons from naive animals. An overall similar time course of the induction of synaptic potentiation was found in the Rad and LMol by multiple-site recording;this emerged later and saturated earlier than conditioned behavioral responses. Our experiments demonstrate a cued memory-associated dCA1 synaptic plasticity induced at both Schaffer collaterals and temporoammonic pathways. 展开更多
