Proppant Transport Characteristics in Tortuous Fractures Induced by Supercritical CO_(2) Fracturing 被引量:1

Supercritical CO_(2) fracturing is an important development trend to reach the goal of"dual carbon"and avoid the problem that hydraulic fracturing is influenced by water resource.In order to clarify the transport characteristics of proppant in the fractures induced by supercritical CO_(2) fracturing,this paper reconstructs the fracture surface of rock samples after supercritical CO_(2) fracturing using the laser morphological scanning technology,and establishes a model of proppant carrying and transport of supercritical CO_(2) in tortuous fractures on the basis of CFD-DEM method.In addition,the transport and placement characteristics of proppant in tortuous fractures are analyzed by comparing withflat fractures,and the effects of proppant density,injection rate of proppant carrying liquid,proppant concentration and other key parameters on proppant transport and distribution in fractures are investigated.And the following research results are obtained.First,compared with those inflat fractures,theflow paths of the proppant carrying supercritical CO_(2) liquid in tortuous fractures are tortuous and diverse,and the proppant presents strongerfluctuations and jumps laterally and vertically during its transport.Second,the proppant placement in tortuous fractures morphologically presents a wavy or even clustered non-uniform distribution.Third,low-density proppant has a better pass-ability in tortuous fractures,and the high injection rate can reduce the influence of tortuous fracture structure on proppant blocking.Fourth,if the concentration of injected proppant in the tortuous fracture is too low,good fracturing support effect cannot be achieved,and the optimal value under the simulation conditions in this paper is around 3%.In conclusion,the simulation results are of important theoretical and engineering significance to understanding the mechanism of proppant blocking in the pumping process of proppant carrying liquid for supercritical CO_(2) fracturing and optimizing thefield fracturing design. 展开更多

In this paper,we design and fabricate a novel three-dimensional passive-micro-mixer by using Polymethyl methacrylate( PMMA). The mixer is fabricated by using ultra-precision engraving machine and bonded by an organic solvent fumigation bonding method. The mixer combines two fluid streams into a mixing chamber integrated with T-shaped pre-mixing and six tortuous shaped mixing elements. We have employed three-dimensional numerical simulations to evaluate the mixing efficiency. The simulation results indicate,under inlet fluid pressure p = 10( Pa), compared to the planar serpentine mixer and tortuous mixer,the concentration fluctuation range at the outlet diagonal reduce to 48% and 71. 6% respectively. And the mixing concentration variances also show that the mixing efficiency has a significant increase. We characterize the device by using visualization microscope,and the results are consistent with the simulation data. The device demonstrates the promising capabilities for micro total analysis system integration. 展开更多

Based on the abundant core data of oil sands in the Mackay river in Canada,the termination frequency of muddy interlayers was counted to predict the extension range of interlayers using a queuing theory model,and then the quantitative relationship between the thickness and extension length of muddy interlayer was established.An equivalent upscaling method of geologic model based on tortuous paths under the effects of muddy interlayer has been proposed.Single muddy interlayers in each coarse grid are tracked and identified,and the average length,width and proportion of muddy interlayer in each coarse grid are determined by using the geological connectivity tracing algorithm.The average fluid flow length of tortuous path under the influence of muddy interlayer is calculated.Based on the Darcy formula,the formula calculating average permeability in the coarsened grid is deduced to work out the permeability of equivalent coarsened grid.The comparison of coarsening results of the oil sand reservoir of Mackay River with actual development indexes shows that the equivalent upscaling method of muddy interlayer by tortuous path calculation can reflect the blocking effect of muddy interlayer very well,and better reflect the effects of geological condition on production. 展开更多

At present, the tortuous emitter has the most advanced performances in drip irrigation. But the theories and methods for designing its flow path have been strictly confidential and the researches on the function of practical guidance have seldom been published. Seven types of most representative tortuous emitting-pipes currently used in agricultural irrigation regions of China were chosen for investigating the geometric parameters of the flow path by means of combining high-precision microscope and AutoCAD technology. By the measurement platform developed by the authors for hydraulic performances of emitters, the free discharge rates from the 7 types of emitters were measured at 9 pressure levels of 1.5 m, 3.0 m, 5.0 m, 7.0 m, 9.0 m, 10.0 m, 11.0 m, 13.0 m and 15.0 m. Then the discharge-pressure relationship, manufacturing variation coefficient, average velocity on the cross-section of flow path and the critical Reynolds number for the flow regime transformation within the paths were analyzed in detail. The results show that both pressure-ascending work pattern and pressure-descending work pattern have some impacts on the discharge rates of tortuous emitters, but the impact level is not significant. The target pressure could be approached by repetitive applications of the two work patterns during pressure regulation. The operation under low pressures has some impacts on the hydraulic performances of emitters, but the impact level is also not significant. The classical model of the discharge-pressure relationship is suitable for the pressure range of 1.5 m -15.0 m. The Reynolds number for fluids within the 7 types of tortuous emitters ranges from Re=105 to Re =930. The critical Reynolds number for the flow regime transformation is smaller than that for the routine dimension flow path. The variation coefficient of emitter discharge rates is slightly fluctuating around a certain value within the whole pressure range. 展开更多

Particle-fluid transport and placement mechanism in tortuous fracture played a crucial role in uncon-ventional reservoirs.Currently,most studies focused on mono-size proppant with fluid transport pro-cesses in tortuous fractures.However,the mixture-size proppant with fluid movement mechanism in tortuous fracture was still uncommon.Therefore,this study designed and applied a series of experiments with a physical analog model of a tortuous fracture with 120°and 90°-angled bends and combined high-speed camera-based equipment.This experimental system was used to track different-mixture-sized proppant particle motion trajectories for a series of proppant injection schemes;The following conclu-sions were drawn from this study:1.The pile-up processes mechanism in all investigated schemes were similar and could be reduced to four main stages.2.The packing structure at both sides of the fracture wall had different variation rates,which were controlled by the mix ratio(change from 1∶1-1∶5)of proppant size.3.Some new packing patterns,such as Zebra Stripe,had occurred,controlled by the different proppant injection sequences.4.Small-sized mono-proppant(30/50 mesh)had the highest transport efficiency in the tortuous fracture,followed by the mixed-sized multi-proppant(10/20 mesh:30/50 mesh),large-sized proppant(10/20 mesh)was the worst.5.An optimized alternating in-jection mode was recommended as injecting small-sized proppant first(30/50 mesh)and followed by mixed-sized multi-proppant(10/20 mesh:30/50 mesh),which could contribute to obtaining the optimal both proppant packing height and travel distance in tortuous fracture.6.Two correlations were devel-oped for predicting the proppant packing height and transportation distance. 展开更多
