The TiB2 dispersion-reinforced copper-matrix composite used as electrode material in resistance spot welding of zinc coated steels was studied. The service life of the composite electrode reaches (7700) welds, which is 4 times that of the conventional Cu-Cr-Zr electrode. Little gross deformation is observed on the composite (electrodes) because of the higher thermal strength; therefore, it is believed that wear is the only mechanism for the composite (electrode) deterioration. However, both wear and plastic deformation are responsible for the large increase in the tip diameter of the Cu-Cr-Zr electrodes. Moreover, the large deformation of the Cu-Cr-Zr electrodes may contribute to the increased wear rate of the tips. 展开更多

Metal coating is a prevalent strategy for enhancing surface properties.Among the numerous methods for preparing coatings,electrodeposition stands out due to its simplicity,cost-effectiveness,and high efficiency,making it widely utilized in various metal coating applications.By meticulously selecting appropriate electrolytes and electrodeposition parameters,metal coatings with diverse structures and morphologies can be obtained,and tailored to meet specific performance requirements.As the demand for superior metal coating performance continues to rise,it is imperative to summarize and forecast electrodeposition techniques to meet the criteria for high quality and precision.This review delves into the electrodeposition preparation of several typical metal coatings in diverse electrolyte systems,including aqueous solutions,ionic liquids,deep eutectic solvents,and molten salts.We also examine the electrodeposition process on the cathode,elucidate the correlation between parameters and coating quality,and suggest future research directions.This review aims to provide valuable insights and guidance for the electrodeposition preparation of metal coatings. 展开更多

Objective To develop a coated electrode of immobilized denitrificants and to evaluate the performance of a bioelectrochemical reactor to enhance and control denitrification, Methods Denitrifying bacteria were developed by batch incubation and immobilized with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) on the surface of activated carbon fiber (ACF) to make a coated electrode. Then the coated electrode (cathode) and graphite electrode (anode) were transferred to the reactor to reduce nitrate. Results After acclimated to the mixtrophic and autotrophic denitrification stages, the denitrifying bacteria could use hydrogen as an electron donor to reduce nitrate, When the initial nitrate concentration was 30.2 mg NO3-N/L, the denitrification efficiency was 57.3% at an applied electric current of 15 mA and a hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 12 hours. Correspondingly, the current density was 0.083 mA / cm^2. The nitrate removal rate of the reactor was 34,4 g NO3-N / m^3,d, and the surface area loading was 1.34 g NO3-N / m^2.d. Conclusion The coated electrode may keep high quantity of blomass, thus achieving a high denitrification rate. In this paper, the droplet transfer behavior of the stainless steel coated electrode with double layer coating is researched by means of those experimental methods, such as high speed camera, collecting droplet in water, surfacing on the steel plate et al. The results show that the droplet transfer indexes of coated electrode are mainly controlled by the size of droplet, which affects the transfer behavior of droplet. The distribution characteristic of the droplet size of the electrode affects the numerical relationship among droplet transfer indexes. The metallurgical process of the coated electrode with double layer coating is carried out continuously in different zones. The main reason for the coated electrode with double layer coating gaining excellent usability quality is that the droplets realize the 'quasi flux wall guided transfer pattern'. 展开更多

Neural electrodes,the core component of neural prostheses,are usually encapsulated in polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS).However,PDMS can generate a tissue response after implantation.Based on the physicochemical properties and excellent biocompatibility of polyurethane(PU)and poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA)when used as coating materials,we synthesized PU/PVA hydrogel coatings and coated the surface of PDMS using plasma treatment,and the cytocompatibility to rat pheochromocytoma(PC12)cells was assessed.Protein adsorption tests indicated that the amount of protein adsorption onto the PDMS substrate was reduced by 92%after coating with the hydrogel.Moreover,the PC12 cells on the PU/PVA-coated PDMS showed higher cell density and longer and more numerous neurites than those on the uncoated PDMS.These results indicate that the PU/PVA hydrogel is cytocompatible and a promising coating material for neural electrodes to improve their biocompatibility. 展开更多

The purpose of this research was to fmd out effectiveness of chloride solid membrane electrode of coated wire system compared to solid membrane electrode of composite system, the Nernstian response and character's potential response (detection limit, selectivity and response time). The chloride ISEs (ion selective electrodes) in this research were the solid membrane chloride ISEs based AgC1. There were two types of chloride ISEs that were developed, namely the chloride ISEs of coated wire and composite systems. Both types of electrodes were characterized. The selectivity was done by comparing Esel of the chloride standard solutions and Esel of the interference ions (Br- and I-). The measurement of chloride ions in water samples was done by using the coated wire chloride ISE, the composite chloride ISE and the Mohr method. We compared the result of the two chloride ISE methods to that of standard method for chloride determination (Mohr) by using F-test and Post Hoc Test LSD (least significant difference) and Duncan. Analysis by using F-test and Post Hoc Test (LSD and Duncan) and characterization results of both the methods showed that coated wire chloride ISE was more effective compared to composite chloride ISE. Nemstian response was 59.83 mV/decade, linier range measurement was 10-1-10-5 M, limit detection was 1.23 × 10-5 M, response time along was 25 s and interfering ion was 10-4 M Br-. 展开更多

Electrochemical Determination of Dapoxetine HCI in Biological Fluids Using Coated Wire Electrode

Coated wire sensor for potentiometric determination ofDAP (dapoxetine HCI) in pure form and in biological fluidsbased on DAP-TPB (dapoxetine-tetraphenyl borate) as the sensing element in the presence of DOP (dioctylphthalate) as the plasticizing solvent mediator was prepared. The best performance was obtained with a membrane composition of 10.0% (w/w) ion-pair, 45.0% DOP (w/w) and 45.0% PVC (w/w). The electrode showed a Nemstian response (with a slope of 58.70 mV decade-1) for the concentration range of 4.2 × 10-5-1.0 ×10-2 mol/L. It illustrates a relatively fast response time in the whole concentration range (-15 s) in a pH range of 3.0-7.5. The selectivity coefficients were determined in relation to several inorganic and organic species. DAP is determined successfully in pure solutions and in biological fuids using the standard additions and petentiometric titrations methods. 展开更多

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) with ZnO spin-coated TiO2 photo-electrodes are compared to DSSC with a bare TiO2 photo-electrode. It is demonstrated that the deposited ZnO of controlled amount, by varying the precursor concentration in the coating sol, can indeed enhance the performance of the DSSC. The measured power conversion efficiency shows a maximum around the precursor concentration 0.1 M and falls down sharply to 0% beyond this point. The results are interpreted on the basis of two competing factors: At ZnO concentrations less than 0.1 M, the formation of an energy barrier increases the photocurrent by reducing the rate of interfacial back-recombination. At ZnO concentrations greater than 0.1 M, the screening of the TiO2 film by thicker ZnO layers decreases the photocurrent through the reduction of TiO2 dye-adsorption efficiency. 展开更多

In order to improve the lifespan of spot-welding electrodes used for welding zinc coated steel sheets, titanium diboride was deposited onto their surface after precoating nickel as an intermediate layer. The microstructures and phase compositions of TiB2 and Ni coatings were characterized by SEM and XRD. The coating hardness was measured using a microhardness tester. The results indicate that a satisfactory TiB2 coating is obtained as a result of the intermediate nickel layer acting as a good binder between the TiB2 coating and the copper alloy substrate. Owing to its capacity of deforming, the precoated nickel layer is dense and crack free, while cracks and pores are observed in the TiB2 coating. The hardness of the TiB2/Ni coating decreases with the increase of voltage and capacitance because of the diffusion of copper and nickel and the oxidation of the coating materials. Because of the good thermal and electrical conductivities and high hardness properties of TiB2, the deformation of the electrode with TiB2/Ni coating is reduced and its spot-welding life is by far prolonged than that of the uncoated one. 展开更多

Li[Li0.2Ni0.13Coo.13Mn0.54]O2 cathode materials were synthesized by carbonate-based co-precipitation method, and then, its surface was coated by thin layers of FePO4. The prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron micro- scope (FESEM), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The XRD and TEM results suggest that both the pristine and the coated materials have a hexagonal layered structure, and the FePO4 coating layer does not make any major change in the crystal structure. The FePO4-coated sample exhibits both improved initial discharge capacity and columbic efficiency compared to the pristine one. More significantly, the FePO4 coating layer has a much positive influence on the cycling perfor- mance. The FePO4-coated sample exhibits capacity reten- tion of 82 % after 100 cycles at 0.5℃ between 2.0 and 4.8 V, while only 28 % for the pristine one at the same charge-discharge condition. The electrochemical impe- dance spectroscopy (EIS) results indicate that this improved cycling performance could be ascribed to the presence of FePO4 on the surface of Li[Li0.2Ni0.13Co0.13Mno.54102 par- ticle, which helps to protect the cathode from chemical attacks by HF and thus suppresses the large increase in charge transfer resistance. 展开更多

In order to analyze the effect of scratch on the corrosion behaviour of a calcium phosphate conversion coating(CPCC)on AZ80,the electrochemical testing,scanning vibrating electrode technique(SVET),immersion test and hydrogen evolution experiment were performed to study the corrosion resistance of AZ80,AZ80 with CPCC and coated AZ80 with scratch.The results show that the coating improves the corrosion resistance of the AZ80 from a current density of(85±4)to(4±1)μA/cm^(2).When the coating was damaged,its protection on substrate would be reduced.The scratch with a length of around 12 mm on the coating reduced the corrosion resistance to a current density of(39±1)μA/cm^(2).In addition,the corrosion occurred initially in the scratch area and the corrosion site first occurred at the junction of the scratch and the coating.Besides,the micro corrosion mechanism of the specimen containing scratch was clarified. 展开更多

Due to the conductive nature deriving from graphitic carbon nanoparticles in ink and strong adhesion, ink can be easily coated onto support to enhance the conductivity, form a porous layer facilitating electrolyte ion diffusion, increase the specific surface area and function as binder and dispersant for other active materials. In this review,the beneficial features of pen ink and Chinese ink are summarized and how these features favor the electrochemical performance is discussed in details. And then, ways to coat ink onto support are described,giving a clear understanding of recent process in this area. Finally, the current challenges and outlook of ink-based electrode are discussed, aiming to offer some basic knowledge and promote wide application and future study of pen ink and Chinese ink in electrochemistry. 展开更多

Take after the advantages of lithium-ion battery (LIB) and redox flow battery (RFB), semi-solid flow battery (SSFB) is a promising electrochemical energy storage device in renewable energy utilization. The flowable slurry electrode realizes decouple of energy and power density, while it also brings about new challenge to SSFBs, electron transport between active material and the out circuit. In this consideration, three types of current collectors (CCs) are applied to study the resistance and electrochemical performances of slurry cathodes within pouch cells for the first time. It proves that the electronic resistance (Re) between slurry electrode and the CC plays a decisive role in SSFB operation, and it is so large when Al foil is adopted that the cell cannot even work.
