Bayesian phase difference estimation based on single-photon projective measurement

The estimation of quantum phase differences plays an important role in quantum simulation and quantum computation,yet existing quantum phase estimation algorithms face critical limitations in noisy intermediate-scale quantum(NISQ)devices due to their excessive depth and circuit complexity.We demonstrate a high-precision phase difference estimation protocol based on the Bayesian phase difference estimation algorithm and single-photon projective measurement.The iterative framework of the algorithm,combined with the independence from controlled unitary operations,inherently mitigates circuit depth and complexity limitations.Through an experimental realization on the photonic system,we demonstrate high-precision estimation of diverse phase differences,showing root-mean-square errors(RMSE)below the standard quantum limit𝒪(1/√N)and reaching the Heisenberg scaling𝒪(1/N)after a certain number of iterations.Our scheme provides a critical advantage in quantum resource-constrained scenarios,and advances practical implementations of quantum information tasks under realistic hardware constraints. 展开更多

Regarded as cyclic ambiguities, the moduli of the measurements traditionally are resolved by adding more antenna elements. This paper models the cyclic ambiguity as a component of the system state, of which the observability is analyzed and compared to that of the bear- ings-only passive location system. It is shown that the necessary and sufficient observability condition for the bearings-only passive location system is only the necessary observability condition for the passive location system with phase difference measurements, and that when the system state is observable, the cyclic ambiguities can be estimated by accumulating the phase difference measurements, thereby making the observer able to locate the emitter with high-precision. 展开更多

We study on reduced dynamic orbit determination using differenced phase in adjacent epochs for spacebome dual-frequency GPS. This method not only overcomes the shortcomings that the epoch-difference kinematic method cannot be used when observation geometry is poor or observations are insufficient, but also avoids solving the ambiguity in the zero-difference reduced dynamic method. As the epoch-difference method is not sensitive to the impact of phase cycle slips, it can lower the difficulty of slip detection in phase observation preprocessing. In the solution strategies, we solve the high-dimensional matrix computation problems by decomposing the long observation arc into a number of short arcs. By gravity recovery and climate experiment (GRACE) satellite orbit determination and compared with GeoForschungsZentrum (GFZ) post science orbit, for epoch-difference reduced dynamic method, the root mean squares (RMSs) of radial, transverse and normal components are 1.92 cm, 3.83 cm and 3.80 cm, and the RMS in three dimensions is 5.76 cm. It estimates the DOA by measuring the reciprocal of the phase range of the sensor output spectra at the interest frequency bin. The peak width and variance of the PDM are presented. The PDM can distinguish closely spaced sources with different and unknown center frequencies as long as they are separated with at least one frequency bin. First, through multi-layer discrete wavelet decomposition(DWT), the components of the original phase difference at different frequencies are extracted. Subsequently, the effective components are taken by the orthogonal matching pursuit(OMP) algorithm, and the phase difference is reconstructed. According to the upper and lower envelopes of the original phase difference extracted by cubic spline interpolation, the residual threshold of OMP is set. According to the results of three-dimensional(3-D) reconstruction experiment on a standard sphere, the proposed method is capable of reducing the errors in the original phase difference and achieving a better imaging result. 展开更多

With the popularity of indoor wireless network,device-free indoor localization has attracted more and more attention.Unlike device-based localization where the target is required to carry an active transmitter,their frequent signal scanning consumes a large amount of energy,which is inconvenient for devices with limited energy.In this work,we propose the MFPL,device-free localization(DFL)system based on WiFi distance measurement.First,we combine multi-subcarrier characteristic of Channel State Information(CSI)with classical Fresnel reflection model to get the linear relationship between the change of the length of reflection path and the subcarrier phase difference.Then we calculate the Fresnel phase difference between subcarrier pairs with different spacing from CSI amplitude time series.Finally,we get the change of the length of the reflection path caused by target moving to achieve distance measurement and localization.Using a combination of subcarriers with different spacing to achieve distance measurement effectively broadens the maximum unambiguous distance of the system.To solve the complex non-linear problem of the intersection of two elliptic equations,we introduce Newton's method to transform the non-linear problem into a linear one.The effectiveness of our approach is verified using commodity WiFi infrastructures.The experimental results show our method achieves a median error of 0.87 m in actual indoor environment. 展开更多

Here,the mechanical deformation propagating along the medium with phase differences are considered. It is found that weak mechanical deformation may lead to resonant drift of spiral waves. The drift direction and velocity can be changed by the wave length of the deformation. Strong mechanical deformation may result in breakup of spiral waves. The characteristics of breakup are discussed. The critical amplitudes are determined by two factors, i.e. the wave length and frequency of the periodic mechanical deformation. When the wave length of mechanical deformation is comparable to the spiral wave, simulation shows that the critical amplitude is substantially increased. As the frequency of the mechanical deformation is around 1.5 times of the spiral wave, the critical amplitudes are minimal. 展开更多

We investigate the effect of initial phase difference between the two excited states of a V-type three-level atom on its steady state behaviour of spontaneous emission. A modified density of modes is introduced to calculate the spontaneous emission spectra in photonic crystal. Spectra in free space are also shown to compare with that in photonic crystal with different relative positions of the excited levels from upper band-edge frequency. It is found that the initial phase difference plays an important role in the quantum interference property between the two decay channels. For a zero initial phase, destructive property is presented in the spectra. With the increase of initial phase difference, quantum interference between the two decay channels from upper levels to ground level turns to be constructive. Furthermore, we give an interpretation for the property of these spectra. 展开更多

Although the phase-shift seismic processing method has characteristics of high accuracy, good stability, high efficiency, and high-dip imaging, it is not able to adapt to strong lateral velocity variation. To overcome this defect, a finite-difference method in the frequency-space domain is introduced in the migration process, because it can adapt to strong lateral velocity variation and the coefficient is optimized by a hybrid genetic and simulated annealing algorithm. The two measures improve the precision of the approximation dispersion equation. Thus, the imaging effect is improved for areas of high-dip structure and strong lateral velocity variation. The migration imaging of a 2-D SEG/EAGE salt dome model proves that a better imaging effect in these areas is achieved by optimized phase-shift migration operator plus a finite-difference method based on a hybrid genetic and simulated annealing algorithm. The method proposed in this paper is better than conventional methods in imaging of areas of high-dip angle and strong lateral velocity variation. 展开更多

Firstly,the direction finding solution at the midpoint of a single base array is given for the purpose of this paper and the several functions relation between phase and frequency is also described.Then,the expression of phase difference rate is described based on the multichannel phase difference measurement.With stripping time difference item correspond to the baseline length from phase difference rate,a function is extracted which signifies the differential characteristics of wavelength integer and phase difference in a unit of length.Simulation calculation found that the variation of differential function of path difference in a unit of length is very regular.The corresponding corrected value can is determine directly by distinguishing the range of differential item of phase difference obtained by actual measurement.Thus,the function expression can be obtained that is equivalence with the quondam differential function of path difference and that is nothing to do with the difference item of wavelength integer.On this basic,several parameters are analyzed by using the method of phase difference measurement without phase ambiguity.The research results in this paper may provide a powerful technical support for engineering practical design related to the phase measuring. 展开更多

The phase volume fraction has an important role in the match of the strength and plasticity of dual phase steel.The different bainite contents(18–53 vol.%)in polygonal ferrite and bainite(PF+B)dual phase steel were obtained by controlling the relaxation finish temperature during the rolling process.The effect of bainite volume fraction on the tensile deformability was systematically investigated via experiments and crystal plasticity finite element model(CPFEM)simulation.The experimental results showed that the steel showed optimal strain hardenability and strength–plasticity matching when the bainite reached 35%.The 3D-CPFEM models with the same grain size and texture characters were established to clarify the influence of stress/strain distribution on PF+B dual phase steel with different bainite contents.The simulation results indicated that an appropriate increase in the bainite content(18%–35%)did not affect the interphase strain difference,but increased the stress distribution in both phases,as a result of enhancing the coordinated deformability of two phases and improving the strength–plasticity matching.When the bainite content increased to 53%,the stress/strain difference between the two phases was greatly increased,and plastic damage between the two phases was caused by the reduction of the coordinated deformability. 展开更多

Non-contact acoustic exploration can be realized by using air coupled sound. It was confirmed that discovery and the identification of a buried thing were possible using the OFR method (optimum frequency range method). However, in this method, only the amplitude of the vibration speed spectrum is used and did not use the phase information. Therefore a new imaging method is proposed that used the phase information of the vibration speed spectrum. From the experimental results, the possibility of the outline extraction by using the phase difference between each scan point is confirmed.
